Bonus Chapter 1: The Lily Girl, Yuri
-Widow's House-
Long time ago, there was a widow who wishes to have a child but she couldn't. One day, an old woman knocked on her door.
"Please miss, will you be kind in offering me some bread and water?" the old woman asked.
"Of course, come in." the widow opened the door to let the beggar in. After she give the bread and water to the old woman, she notice something.
"Why dear, what seem to be troubling you?" the old woman asked.
"I wish to have a child of my own but I couldn't. My husband died." the widow explains.
"Well, if it's a child you want, it won't matter if it's big or small?" the old woman questioned.
"Oh, I don't care if it's big or small. I just wish to have a one." the widow answered.
The old woman reached into her pocket and gave her a flower seed.
"Here, this seed is no ordinary seed. When the flower blooms, you'll find a little girl and then she'll be your daughter. This can be your gift for giving me food and water." the old woman explains.
"Why, thank you." the widow replied as the beggar left.
A couple of months have passed, the seed became a lovely lily flower and it began to bloom. The bud was a red color and as the sunlight shine on it, the bud started to bloom. The widow watched in awe as the petals fully opened to reveal a tiny girl. She was the size of a thumb, wearing a red dress made out of petals, her hair is the color like the bright green leaves, on her head is where a flower headband is on, but what mostly surprise the widow is her eyes and voice. Her eyes are ivy green and her little voice is soft like a bell.
"Hello." the widow spoke gently to her.
"Hello." the little girl copy her. The widow cup her hands and the little girl jumped on it. The widow took a closer look at the girl. "Um, are you my mother?"
"Yes, I am your mother." the widow answered.
"Then what will you call me if you are my mother?" the little girl asked in curiosity.
"I think I will name you Yuri because not only are you born from a lily, but that it exactly what your name means- it means lily." the widow declared.
"Thank you, mother. I will always treasure my name "Yuri" Yuri told her.
A couple months have passed when Yuri sang a sweet song to help her mother fall asleep. Her sweet singing reach the hears of a Toad Mother.
"What singing do I hear?" the Toad Mother questioned. She hopped to the window and saw Yuri singing until she fall asleep. "This girl is very pretty. I know, I will take her and then my son will marry her."
-Pond-
At night, the Toad Mother sneak in the room where Yuri was sleeping and took the little girl away from her home. In the morning, Yuri woke up on a lily pad.
"W-where am I?" Yuri questioned.
"You are here so you can marry my son." she heard a croak.
Yuri turned to see Toad Mother. She was a greyish-green color and wore a pink dress. Next to her is her son, the Toad Son. He wore a fancy black suit but it didn't changed the fact that he was much uglier than his mother, with his dull green skin and plump size.
"B-but I don't want to marry your son." Yuri protest.
"You will marry my son at sundown!" the Toad Mother declared. The two toads hop back into the water, leaving Yuri to cry. Her cries are heard by some goldfish.
"Excuse us, but why are you crying?" the goldfish asked.
"I have to marry the Toad Son but I don't want to. Can you please help me? I have to get away before sundown." Yuri pleaded.
"Yes we can." the goldfish and its friends pulled the lily pad with Yuri to the ground.
"Thank you." Yuri wave to the goldfish.
"Goodbye and good luck Yuri." the goldfish and its friends left.
-Mouse Cottage-
It was now getting dark and Yuri doesn't know where her home is anymore. It was also getting much colder. Yuri shiver as tiny snowflakes started to fall.
"Snow?" Yuri questioned as more snowflakes fall, followed by a gust of cold wind. Yuri screamed at the sudden drop of temperature. Her mother told her about the seasons and it was to get colder but right now- for it to happen now seems impossible and unfortunate.
Yuri walked all night long until she found a small door of a cottage. She knocked on the door. The door opened to reveal a mouse.
"Hello, Miss Mouse. Would it be okay if I stay in for the rest of the winter?" Yuri asked.
"Why yes, I could used the company. Please, make yourself at home." Miss Mouse let the little girl in as she closed the door.
I hope you all have enjoyed this chapter so far. To remind you, bonus chapters are very short so the next one will probably the last before I really complete this story. See you soon.
