Forgive me everyone, essays, then forgetfulness, then essays, then more forgetfulness, then dissertation, got it finished though! Now I've just 3 essays and an exam to go. Woop Woop! Why is your final year at uni/college the worst? Finals man, they're mean.

"Mizu take him and go back inside."

She glanced between the beautiful woman and Law and raised an eyebrow. "Why exactly should I leave?"

"He needs rest and I promised that Luffy, her," he let out a little cough drawing Mizu's attention to the glazed starry eyed look in the Empress' expression, "Luffy, is well taken care of." Law turned back to Jinbe and gave him the once over. "If you don't rest those wounds will reopen."

"I'm fine." Jinbe bit out as he slumped against the wall, clearly not fine.

"Mizu. Head inside." The tone suggested not to argue but was she hell going to leave Law with that woman. "Now."

"And leave you alone with her? Hell no." Mizu bit out her foot tapping on deck. In the background, Jinbe could hear Penguin and Shachi let out a little 'ooh' noise and his eyes flickered back to Mizu and Law.

"Are you ignoring my orders? Maid?" Another little 'ooh' came from the boys.

"No, Captain," Mizu started resigning to the fact that she would be sent away by the evil man. "I'm just suggesting that if you like a certain appendage of yours you keep your eyes, eye level you understand me?"

Law raised an eyebrow and sighed at her. "Get inside Mizu."

Reluctantly Mizu headed inside grumbling all the way. The nurse kept on grumbling even when she got back to the medical bay. Plonking herself on the desk chair she slammed open a book and angrily read it. Even when Jinbe was lead back into the room and the jolt of the ship starting to move, Mizu still grumbled. Seeing the time, Mizu got up to check them over. She started with Luffy making sure everything was good before moving to Jinbe who was still awake and watching her carefully.

"I have to check-"

"Go ahead." It wasn't sharp or in any way a negative response but it managed to unnerve Mizu to no end. So she did and the fishman just stared blankly at the wall as she worked. Everything appeared to be fine but he was strained the stitches somewhat. She made a note of it and headed back to her seat. Mizu went back to her book occasionally checking the time in a vain hope time would magically go faster. The silence was broken when Jinbe spoke again. "You are too gentle to be a pirate."

"Pardon?" Mizu asked turning around with a raised eyebrow.

"Are you a member of this crew?" he asked carefully

Mizu paused, opening and shutting her mouth. She couldn't fathom why this was the first question she had been asked in the half an hour they had sat in silence. "Yes I am. I sort of double as a maid, cleaner and all round chore doer. I'm a part time nurse too, trained by Law himself so need to worry."

Jinbe seemed to take a moment to acknowledge and think about the information given. "Was it you speaking earlier? Before Boa Hancock interrupted your story."

"You heard that? Oh, crap." Mizu groaned slamming her hand across her forehead, slumping forward in shame. "How much did you hear?"

"Parts, you seem to be on good terms with the Captain. I've heard, stories, of him in the papers. You don't seem to fear him."

Mizu blinked a second before remembering her Captain's flare for the theatricals at points. Especially the show case he performed at Sabaody. "Law is, Law may seem like he's a sadistic git at points, and he is but he's good to people who are loyal to him. I wouldn't say he's a good person, he is a pirate after all but for a pirate he's one of the best. I do anything for him and I trust him with my life."

"You love him?" Jinbe asked and that's all it took. One simple question that caught Mizu off guard and she didn't even hesitate on an answer.

"Yeah, I suppose I do." She replied without thinking. After seeing a slight smile on Jinbe's face Mizu blushed head to toe. "Ignore what I just said! I didn't mean it! It's not true I swear it isn't!" Jinbe blocked out her ramblings and excuses and turned his gaze to Luffy who was hooked up to several machines looking paler than normal. "He's going to be fine. Law saved me, he can save Luffy." The gentle smile on her Mizu settled Jinbe's worries if only for a little while. She checked the clock once again and got up to do some checks. "What did she want anyway?"

"You should ask your Captain."

Mizu grimaced that meant she'd have to find a replacement and a good excuse to leave as 'snooping' wasn't good enough. Turning to Jinbe she put on her brightest smile and happily replied, "And leave our wonderful conversation? Never."

A few hours later someone came to relieve Mizu so she could go get some lunch. While she didn't leave the medical after having a decent interesting conversation with Jinbe her stomach wanted food. Real food unlike the broth that Jinbe would be eating. She grabbed a tray and pilled it high and wandered over to the usual table.

"Hey guys." They looked stupidly happy and it irritated Mizu, not that they were happy, it was the dumb looks they had. "Um? Why the 'I just won a ton of cash and I'm going to retire to my own island' looks?"

"We're going to the Kuja island." Penguin replied. He tried to eat but missed his mouth completely that stupid look getting stupider.

"An island full of women. Women only. Isn't it wonderful?" Shachi added in utter bliss, like he'd died and go to heaven.

"I hope there's female bears." Bepo pouted when the boys shot that idea down in flames.

Mizu gave the bear a small pat before devouring her food and going on a search for a certain Captain who she was going to roast alive. An island full of beautiful warrior women? It was like Law wanted to be smacked in the face. Not that she was jealous. Mizu was just incredibly irate. "I'll see you later, I need to have a word with our wonderful Captain dearest." Mizu muttered as she shoved her tray towards the black pit of Shachi and flounced off to a series of 'ooh's' from the boys.

Stalking to his office she knocked to be polite then kicked the door open to find him writing notes. "Can I help you?"

"An island full of women huh? When were you going to tell me?" To emphasise her, well, just how irate she was she kicked the desk jolting it towards him.

"When we got there."

Mizu's eyebrow twitched, he wasn't getting out of this that easily. "Oh really now? So you knew I'd be angry and decided it would be okay."

"We'll be safe there. She's still under marine protection so they wouldn't think to look for us there. They have food so we can restock. Hancock wanted to stay close to Luffy and I didn't want her on the ship and as he still needs attention there wasn't any choice."

"Then why are you incredibly happy?" she asked noting the stupid look he had on his face.

"I'm kind of hoping to dress you like them."

"Pervert." Mizu growled turning to leave to find an intelligent conversation on the ship. So it was either find Jean or go back to talk to Jinbe some more.

"You should know what happened on Marineford." Law said, his tone doing a 180 to complete seriousness. Mizu turned back around and took a seat.

Law made sure she was settled before he began to tell her. Granted he didn't have everything but he could assume most of it but he knew the gist of what occurred. By the end of the tale Mizu had tears in her eyes. "Luffy." A pained whisper escaped her lips as she thought about the pain he'd be in when he woke up.

"Are you crying?" Law asked in a blank voice

"I think I'm justified."

"How so?"

"That could have been you, that could be you some day. I don't want to think about how Luffy is going to feel when he wakes up. He needs his friends."

Law waved her forward and took her into his arms, she got comfortable in his lap leaning her head in the crook of his neck. Law ran his hand up and down her thigh and rubbed small circles at the base of her spine. Mizu breathed in his scent calming herself, the dark thoughts and tension slowly left her with every breath.

"Go have some proper rest. I'll wake you once we get to Amazon Lily."

"Rest with me?" Mizu asked hopeful

"No. I need to sort some things out." Mizu nodded and left. Law watched her leave with decisions laying heavily on his mind.

Mizu was surprised when they arrived at Amazon Lily, it didn't take too long at all. She stood out on deck next to Jean; who seemed to be the only one of the crew managing to keep his tongue inside his mouth. Law had a grin on his face while all the crew who could fit out on deck waved to the beautiful women who came to greet them. Or just Luffy and Hancock. Mizu hoped for the latter, their egos did not need the boost.

"Can you believe these guys?" Mizu whispered to Jean who ignored her to stare at a passing Amazon warrior. "Perfect." Mizu mumbled rolling her eyes. She had to be the only female member of the crew, she had no one to connect with. Although, it was only when other women where involved that she thought this. But soon after that thought, karma bit them in the ass and she almost cried with laughter when they were told they couldn't stay on the island. Mizu could almost hear their little hearts break, she almost snorted with laughter. "Oh the pain." She snorted but almost cried herself when they were allowed to dock on the outskirts of the island.

Shachi turned to her with a 'suck it' expression, hearing her pervious grumblings. As soon as they had docked and set up camp the boys were pretty much kissing the dirt and thanking the heavens for their luck. Mizu rolled her eyes and walked over to Jinbe who, she had hoped would be immune to the women's charms. Just before she sat down she took one last look at the pervert parade and glared at some idiots trying to sneak under the banner. One withering glare from her was all it took for the boys to scamper away whistling as they ran away out of her sight.

"Feeling okay?" she asked handing him a hot cup of tea she had made.

"Yes, much better." He sipped his cooling tea closing his eyes in appreciation for the warmth. "This is nice, thank you."

"No problem," she turned to her Captain who was slinking off back onto the ship sword in hand. "Huh, wonder what's going on."

"He's most likely checking on Luffy." Jinbe suggested.

Mizu decided to go with that and sat on the opposite log sipping at her own cup. Soon Jean joined her and complained about the heat as well as the drooling morons. The Kuja pirates had set up barricades so that they couldn't see the island. Unfortunately, as it was getting it late the boys knew the girls would come with food it was sad to see the guys buzzing around acting like a bunch of meerkats at every little sound. Soon enough a group had formed in waiting, their wails of despair were starting to get to Mizu. When dinner eventually came, some of the boys tried to chat up the girls as they did this to no avail. It left Mizu nearly rolling off the log at their blunt instant rejections. Once again, karma got involved and they wanted to stay and help cook dinner which left the boys laughing at Mizu's pained look. One of the girls, a friendlier blonde woman actually asked if she wanted to help and as a 'suck it' to the guys she agreed. After all, Mizu would be able to talk with her unlike the guys who didn't get more than one sentence.

"What's it like travelling with a man?" she asked staring at her wide eyed

"They're annoying. They have no respect from my privacy and-" Mizu took off her shoe and nailed Shachi with it. The idiot was inching closer to them to try and listen into their conversation. Or drool over Marguerite some more, either way. "-that one in particular is annoying."

"Wow, are men different from each other?" she asked with an endearing childlike quality that made Mizu melt.

"Yeah, the good ones are rare but you can't help who you fall for."

"Have you fallen for anyone?"

"Yeah, wait no. Don't ask me that." Mizu pouted flushing bright red and skittish.

The blonde haired woman smiled laughing slightly, "Please enjoy the food we'll be back later with more."

"Thank you for putting up with them long enough to bring it."

"Elder Nyon said to tell you that if you wanted to use our baths you can."

Mizu's head snapped up. Jean thought she was going to cry, and by the sound of her neck snapping, get whiplash, he was about ready to step in when she started to talk. "You mean it? I can have a bath? I proper bath?"

Marguerite looked taken aback just as Jean face-palmed, "Yes, you're female you can come up to the village."

"Can I come with you tomorrow?"

"Of course."

It was safe to say Mizu had looked forward to that bath throughout the next day. She had even dreamed about it. Law even caught her muttering about it in her sleep. He rolled his eyes at her and pulled her close to him not wanting to let go. At dinner the next day, Mizu had all bath stuff ready and packed and paced the fence along with the guys. She had gotten as twitchy as Shachi, they paced side by side creating a groove in the grass. Jinbe turned to Jean with a confused expression on his face, he thought Mizu was one of the sane members of the crew.

"She hasn't had a bath in a long while and the boys don't give her any privacy." Jinbe nodded, this answer satisfying most of his curiosity but it didn't answer why she joined in with their crazy antics. "Mizu is like a sister to Shachi and Penguin but unlike those two Mizu can bottle up the crazy." That answered his question.

When Marguerite eventually came, Mizu all but pounced on her. "Excited to visit the village?" the blonde asked slightly scared of Mizu's sudden forwardness.

"Yes but I can't wait for a long luxurious soak. I don't like smelling like a guy, you won't believe what they count as having a 'shower' come on, let me educate you on want these guys get up to." Margret giggled slightly and she shot at dark glance the crew when they whined first. Mizu got to work peeling and cutting the vegetables for the cook who had finally regained some self control. Law came out of the sub took one look at Mizu, gave her a look she hadn't seen before and strolled towards Penguin and Bepo. Mizu sighed and peeled the vegetables with less enthusiasm as before.

"Is it the Captain?" Margaret asked suddenly. Mizu hummed in response as she carefully peeled a carrot. "The one you lo-"

"OUCH!" Mizu had jumped when she heard the 'L' word, slicing into her thumb instead of the vegetable. Mizu put down the deadly instrument and cradled her throbbing thumb. It stung like hell but after the needle practice stabbing the tips of her fingers didn't really hurt much. "Can someone pass me some clean water?"

Someone, three guesses who, grabbed her hand yanking it away from her chest. Law inspected the small cut and doused it in water, she hissed at the stinging but kept still. "I would disinfect it but it's actually pretty small. Wait here." Law moved over to his things and produced the small first aid kit and brought it over to her. "I thought this may come in handy. Should have known it was you who would need it."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I'm trouble. I get into accidents, blah, blah, blah." Mizu groaned as the disinfectant touched her open wound. "Ow." She tried to keep her voice as monotone as possible but the high pitched squeak won out.

"Go have fun, we'll keep some left-over's for you."

Mizu watched as Law put away his things precisely where they came from. Spying around her she moved closer to Law. Everyone seemed to be preoccupied with something even Marguerite who had taken over peeling duty. "Law?"

"Yes Mizu?"

"Are you okay? You seem off."

Law zipped up the kit and placed it beside his sitting place by the fire. He turned to her, which worried her further, and held her hand in his. "I'm fine Mizu, now go have fun."

"If you're sure. I can always stay here and go another night."

Law shook his head, leaning in to give her a kiss. "You deserve it. A night of peace without one of us disturbing you."

"Okay." Mizu pecked him on the lips, "I might just ask if someone has some spare clothes before I return tonight." She shot him a sly grin before scurrying off with Marguerite grinning happily at the prospect of a bath.

Mizu enjoyed her bath but the questions she could do without. Apparently word had spread and everyone in their mothers had turned up to ask her about the men. Although the free soak was worth the trouble. One of the girls even let her keep some clothes so she could surprise Law when she got back. Although, she had to answer yet another embarrassing question but it was worth it. Back at the camp, when the boys had eaten Law gathered them together to talk about something that had been on his mind for a while. They wouldn't like it but it was for the best.

That night Mizu and Law returned to the ship, long story short, the surprise went rather well, especially for Law. Mizu fell asleep straight away curled securely into Law's side, a lopsided grin on her face. Yet, sleep didn't come for Law as easily as it did for Mizu. He stayed awake watching her, as his body screamed for rest, he reached over her and moved a strand of hair that had fallen out of place. Eventually the feel of her heart beat against his own lulled him into rest.

'Mizu!' Law jerked awake his own cry shocked him. He turned to Mizu to check that he hadn't woke her up, which he hadn't. Law couldn't sleep, he had one thought on his mind. A memory. He had blocked it from his mind but after what happened at Sabaody it had surfaced once again.

'They wanted to execute her. They wanted to send a message.'
