Chapter 52 – Without Magic

"George! Put me down!"

Adie giggled, rolling her eyes and slapping her boyfriend's chest as he carried her around the house. It had been several days since they'd been reunited and the girl was back to her usual self...well as usual as she could be. George chuckled, kissing her head, and then smirked.

"Alright then!"

He dropped his arms and Adie fell to the floor with a squeak. She glared up at him, the sun peeking through the blackout curtains. The blonde puffed out her chest and some of her hair flew up a little ways into the air.

"Meanie!"

"You love me really."

George grinned and offered his hand, helping her back to her feet and draping an arm around her shoulders. Adie snuggled into his side and took a deep breath of his scent. Too her, now, every smell was so defined...so sharpened.

Lupin had told her that this was only natural during the first years of the change, but she would soon get used to it. Adie had got tons of advice from the ex-professor, and it had really helped her come to grips with everything.

"You like what you see?"

Adie opened her eyes and looked up at a smirking George. She felt her cheeks go pink and hid her face as they began walking again. George pinched her cheek and kissed it quickly...increasing the intense redness of her face.

"Shut up, George!"

Her voice was muffled against his jumper and he chuckled. Adie rolled her eyes and shook her head. She let out a sigh and bit her lip.

"George..."

His hazel eyes met her grey ones and he raised an eyebrow.

"Yes?"

She rolled her lip in her teeth and looked at him nervously.

"You know how Remus has been helping me with...everything?"

"Yes? Where are you going with this?"

She took a deep breath.

"I want to talk to Bill."

George stopped for a moment. Bill? Well this was random.

"Why do you wanna talk to Bill?"

They had reached the kitchen and stepped inside as Adie began to explain.

"I want to find out how he deals with his condition...besides I haven't seen him or Fleur since the wedding."

"She's got a point, George."

They looked over at Mr Weasley, who was sipping his tea. George raised his hands.

"Never said it was a bad idea."

"I know, but every bit of advice will help her."

"So wait...you're saying I should go and speak to Bill?"

Mr Weasley offered her a warm smile.

"Of course. You could go today if you wanted, I have been working on another version of my flying car! It should get you to their house without the dangers of apparation!"

He looked much chuffed with himself and smiled proudly. George shook his head and folded his arms.

"Does Mum know this?"

That turned his father sheepish.

"No. And don't tell her!"

"Don't tell who what?"

Mrs Weasley walked in, followed by Fred and Tonks, who was cradling her new born son close in her arms. His name was Ted after her late father. Mr Weasley jumped up and put his mug into the sink.

"Oh nothing, darling.."

"Mhm?"

She looked at the three of them suspiciously. Fred gave Adie a hug before taking the seat his dad had vacated.

"So what were you talking about, before Dad decided to go all sheepish?"

"I was just telling George and Mr Weasley how I want to visit Bill and Fleur."

"To ask about Bill's condition?"

Tonks was quick to catch on with things and she smiled as she sat down, bouncing Ted on her knee.
George nodded and took the seat next to Adie. Mrs Weasley looked at them both.

"Are you sure that's wise, dear? After all you've only just got over everything..."

"Mum.."

"I think I will be ok, Mrs Weasley...besides we wouldn't be gone long.."

"But..."

"Oh Molly, let them go...they need to get out the house for a bit."

Before Mrs Weasley could argue anymore, George was already tugging Adie out of the room. He pulled her back to their room and closed the door behind them.

"So we are going to Bill's then?"

"You don't mind do you?"

She looked down at her feet. George cupped her cheeks and kissed her gently.

"Course I don't...I want you to be happy and safe..."

He kissed her again slowly, wrapping his arms around her hips and pulling her close to him. She smiled against his lips as she loop her hands round the back of his neck, while her toes curled in the converses she was wearing. Kisses between them had been like this, as desire bubbled in between them like electricity. Adie pulled away first, looking at George's dark eyes.

"Ready to go in ten?"

She nodded as he let her go. Adie watched as he left the room to go and retrieve the car keys from his dad. She smiled and ran her hands through her hair, before grabbing her shoulder bag and wand. It was even ten minutes, before she was standing by the door waiting for George. The redhead arrived, rucksack on shoulder, and took her hand.

"Shall we?"

It was said with a small smirk on his face, which caused Adie to smile as she nodded. The pair walked out to Kingsley's abandoned garage, in which sat a battered, old silver Volkswagen Beetle. The car purred to life with no issue and George began the short drive away into the countryside.

As the signs of life and people faded away Adie begged to push the "take off" button and the little car took to the air. They talked, like any normal couple, until the morning sun turned into the late afternoon. It was by that time that they were drawing near to Shell Cottage and made the descent.

"Whoo! We made it alive!"

"Shut up, Adie! I am a fantastic driver."

"Mhm mhm, remind me never to get in a car with you again."

He silenced her with a quick peck on the lips as he turned off the exhaust. On the beach, in the distance, there seemed to be movement. Adie stood on the dusty track and squinted outwards, holding her hand up against the glare. Yes…people were on the beach, but to many to be Fleur and Bill.

"George…look…"

She pointed and her boyfriend also peered at the far figures. As they started to walk towards the sweet-looking cottage, his eyes widened a little.

"Is that…?"

Adie gasped, dropping her bag.

"Oh my god!"

She started running, panting, and shouted loudly.

"HERMIONE! RON! HARRY!"

Hermione, supported by Ron's arms, turned her head to see a sprinting, blonde figure….her best friend. She pushed herself out of Ron's hold, the boy looked daze and Harry was just staring blindly, holding Dobby's lifeless form, and began to race forward.

"ADIE!"

The two girls crashed into each other and hugged one another tightly. Adie felt the tears roll down her face as she heard George pant behind her. Hermione hugged Adie so tight that it was damn near impossible to breathe. Then Ron came barrelling at them and joined the hug. The blonde tried to speak through her sobs of happiness.

"I-I'm s-s-so glad t-to see you guys!"

Hermione's lip quivered.

"You st-stupid idiot…you nearly.."

"I know."

"I missed you so much!"

They hugged again. Adie then gave Ron another hug, whispering to him.

"Thanks for helping me."

He squeezed her tightly and muttered back.

"Anytime."

Ron and Hermione then went to hug George, while Adie walked over to Harry. She tried not to look at Dobby, but touched Harry gently on the shoulder.

"Harry…"

"I want to bury him…"

His voice wavered, shaking with emotions he didn't want to let out. Adie nodded.

"Ok."

"Without magic…"

She nodded again and as a group, reunited, they carefully set about giving the loyal house elf the greatest burial he deserved.
