Chapter 48

Bella and I were the last ones to leave the shopping mall apparently. When we got to the parking lot, our sibling's cars were already gone. We were back on the road in no time. Just like I thought, the energy drink didn't do anything to Bella and she was a little disappointed. I wasn't sure what she expected because she knew people tend to get a little hyperactive after energy drinks. I guess it didn't work the same for Bella.

The radio played quietly whilst Bella hummed along to it. She had seemed to be lost in thought and all I wanted to do was take her up to my room and just hold her. I knew she was missing Moo because she brought him up when we were shopping. We then stepped into the pet shop and she picked out some new toys for him.

I received a message from Carlisle whilst Bella was trying on a pair of jeans, he was subtly checking in on us and asked how everything was going, I wanted to call him and tell him about Bella's memories but I didn't want to do it behind her back if she didn't want him to know. I know I told Jasper but I also knew he wouldn't say anything.

It felt good knowing we were heading home, I'm well aware how much time away from everyone is always wanted within the household, but I also knew how much we all miss each other when we're away.

"What do you think it would be like if you never found me in the meadow and Charlie had raised me? Do you think our paths would have still crossed? Would we be where we are now?" she lolled her head to face me whilst taking my hand and intertwining our fingers.

"I don't know baby. I somehow think Charlie would have kept you two moving around a lot, with the wolves around he wouldn't have wanted to risk it if he was already running away from them. Who knows how the universe works, maybe our paths would have crossed, maybe not. I'm glad that isn't the case though, I couldn't be happier with where we are now." I lifted our hands up and placed a gentle kiss on hers.

"Do you think they still watch us?"

"It would be difficult if they are, they can't be in our territory and we hardly go to places where it isn't intact. No matter how much they want to go after us, they don't want to be the ones to break the treaty they cherish so much." I felt myself getting angrier the more I spoke about them.

We have come in contact with them so called werewolves quite a bit when we moved around. In some weird way their tribes are all connected and we obviously elicit the transformation in them when we move to the location. They all want to follow the same treaty and it has taken months sometimes for them to agree to it because they had to get in touch with other tribes to confirm we were the same vampires.

We have yet to come across a tribe that just lets us get on with our lives without interfering.

"Hmmm that's interesting." Her mind was completely open to me and I saw her mull through what I was thinking. It was strange knowing she can read my mind and then hearing it on repeat as she thinks about what I have thought about.

"You're full of surprises Isabella Cullen." I chuckled and shook my head.

I felt her stare at me and when I turned to face her, she looked slightly sheepish.

"What?"

"Have you ever thought about marriage?" Erm what?

"Marriage?"

"Yeah you know, man and wife." She was looking at me like I was going crazy when she's the one who brought it up.

"Yeah I have. Bella where is this coming from?" she was super quick with blocking her thoughts that I didn't even realise they were closed to me.

"Have you thought about getting married?" she was chewing on her lips and that always made me want to kiss her into oblivion.

I shifted in my seat and she quickly looked down at my lap before her eyes were back on mine. She knew the affect she has on me but she was still surprised every time my body reacted to her.

"What if I have?"

"Are you going to tell me or do I have to get it out of you in another way?" she was slowly moving closer to me and I felt a slight tug in my head as if she was trying to get into my thoughts.

I pulled her towards me and she straddled my lap whilst I kept driving with one hand. It seems like we have been doing that a lot lately. But then again, you won't find me complaining because I loved having her in my lap like this.

"Have you?" I was eager to know whether she has. She must have if she brought it up.

"Yeah I have, I've spoken to both Rosalie and Alice about it actually. Rose wasn't too pleased I was already thinking about marriage whilst Alice wouldn't stop jumping up and down with excitement. She wants to plan the whole thing but I said she can help me but I'm doing the planning."

Was it just me or was it getting really hot in here?

"Wow erm you've given it some thought haven't you?"

"Well yeah, I think about the future and I see getting married in my future. Why, don't you?" he voice rose a little in concern and I was angry at myself that she was doubting us.

"Of course I have. I've seen what Alice has seen and since then, it's crossed my mind quite a lot." I noticed the way she didn't say that it would be us who would get married and this time I was berating myself for doubting us now.

"Oh good, you had me worried for a sec." she fanned her face and then clasped her hands behind my neck whilst looking at me.

"You're already a Cullen, I just wanted to ask you whether you'd take my name?" I whispered like I was scared to ask her out loud.

We sat in silence for what felt like forever. Never breaking eye contact but not saying anything either. I was dying to know what was going on in her head but it was closed to me. I always said I respected her inner privacy but this was driving me crazy.

"Please say something angel."

"How can you think that I wouldn't?" her lips crashed to mine and there was nothing soft about this kiss. There was hunger and passion poured out into it, like we couldn't get close enough to each other and I wanted nothing more than to be at home already and some place more comfortable than the car.

Her hands fisted into my hair and she tugged on it sharply. With my head pulled back, her lips attacked my neck as she trailed kisses up and down from the shell of my ear to my collarbone. That feeling causing reactions in my body I no longer had any control over. The moment her hips started grinding into mine I knew I was lost.

Holding her with one had just wasn't good enough. I lifted my knee slightly and controlled the wheel with it whilst both of my hands roamed her body. She arched into me and it was my turn to attack her neck.

I was about to claim her lips again but then something jumped out in front of the car and I had to quickly swerve off the road and onto the gravel.

It didn't take long for the stench to reach my senses and for Bella's body to stiffen.

I guess the wolves were still watching us after all.
