(The Gamer in the Grease)

A/N: this is a reminder that I am not retelling the show. This story is AU and is being woven into the Bones universe. Hopefully everyone is in character or close to it.

I definitely don't own Bones.

Oooooooooooooooooooo

Moving the couch into the living room with Wendell and Arastoo's help, Booth pointed with his chin, "Let's just put it down near the fire place and Bones and I will figure out the configuration later."

Grateful he could put the heavy piece of furniture down, Arastoo panted a little, "Why do you have to have two couches? Most people I know have one in their living room."

The couch finallyon the floor, Booth straightened up and put his hand on the small of his back, "Yeah, well, Bones and I own a lot of stuff and it's pretty good stuff. Why throw good stuff away? Besides, Bones and I never do what normal people do anyway so why start now?"

Amused, Wendell leaned against the couch, "Are you still going to make the basement into your den?"

Moving towards the front door, Booth smiled, "Sort of. Half the basement is going to be my man cave and the other half is going to be Bones Lab away from the Lab. She has a contractor coming in on Thursday to look it over and make that happen for us."

"Sweet." Following Booth out of the door, Wendell remarked, "If you need any help with renovations don't forget me. I'm a pretty good carpenter and I could use the work."

Moving down the steps, Booth stopped and turned to face Wendell, "How are your gardening skills? I plan to plant rose bushes and flowers out here and I could use the help. I'd like to get it started before winter really gets here. It's still warm enough so I thought I could get the beds ready out here, plant the rose bushes and next spring put in the flowers. I have a guy coming to look at the house next Monday. He's going to put in central air. Those box units have got to go. I want the house to be cool in the summer and warm in the winter when our baby comes. Plus Bones is used to central air so I need to make sure she's comfortable."

Amused, Wendell shook his head and laughed, "Man, I think you forget that she does digs in jungles. She doesn't need central air."

Shrugging his shoulders, Booth explained his reasoning, "Well, she's used to central air at home so I'm having it put in. Besides, the baby needs to be comfortable even if Bones can live in an Easy Bake oven."

Impressed, Arastoo looked at the front of the house, "It's an old house but it's solid. I like it."

Pleased with compliment, Booth smiled, "Thanks, I do too."

Oooooooooooooooooooo

"Oh, there you are." Entering the room, Brennan found Booth sitting on a chair, looking out of the window.

Turning, Booth smiled, "This used to be my room. It's got a nice view of the tree in the front yard and once the flower beds are in, you'll be able to look down and see them."

Moving across the room, Brennan stopped next to Booth and placed her hand on his shoulder, "Do you still want to make this room the guest bedroom?"

His gaze back towards the open window, Booth shook his head, "No, I think we should make this room Parker's room. I think the bedroom downstairs should be the guest bedroom. When he's here he can be up here with us. The baby's room is next to his and our bedroom is across the hallway from the baby's room. What do you think?"

Brennan, pleased with the plan, leaned over and kissed him, "That sounds like a good plan. It's very logical."

Standing, Booth clapped his hands together, "Break over, I guess I'll go get our bed and move it up to our room. The sections aren't too heavy. Arastoo is moving the kitchen stuff into the kitchen and Wendell is moving some of your knick knacks into the basement for now." Looking at his watch, Booth informed her, "Oh, Hodgins called. He and Angela will be here in about an hour. Cam is on the way. She said she'll unpack the kitchen when she gets here."

Placing her arm around his arm, Brennan sighed, "We have very good friends."

In agreement, Booth led her out of the bedroom, "That's a fact . . . . Hey, don't over do it Bones. Don't keep coming up here. Just unpack the boxes down stairs and I'll take care of stuff up here for now. Climbing stairs all day can't be good for you right now."

Annoyed at this bossiness, Brennan complained, "You're doing it again, Booth. Climbing stairs is not dangerous. It's good exercise."

Chuckling, Booth stopped and placed his arms around her, "Alright, alright, just don't complain to me when your feet start to hurt or your back."

Kissing him, Brennan smiled, "Of course, I'll complain, Booth."

Booth released her and laughed, "Okay, I got it."

Oooooooooooooooooo

Falling on their bed that evening, Booth whined, "Shit . . . my back really hurts."

Concerned, Brennan moved across the room to stand over her lover, "You over did it. I was worried that you might. If you'll stand up, I can work on your back for you."

Closing his eyes, Booth shook his head, "Come on Bones. You scare the shit out of me when you do that. Remember the last time you did that you made a mistake and almost hospitalized me. " Opening his eyes, Booth laughed, "Besides, I don't think you can do it. Your stomach won't let you get that close to me."

Irritated, Brennan coldly asked him, "Are you saying I'm fat?"

Startled, Booth protested, "I did not say that. Don't put words in my mouth, Bones. You aren't fat, but if you think about it, you know I'm right. You can't crack my back right now."

Pursing her lips, Brennan stared at Booth, "Yes, you're right. Turn over and I'll massage your back. It will help."

Wary, Booth stripped off his t-shirt and rolled over. Feeling Brennan kneel on the mattress next to him, Booth spoke nervously, "We can take our time unpacking the rest of the stuff in the house. . . . uh . . . Wendell is going to help me clean up . . . umm . . . our apartments so we can be officially moved out. . . . It's weird but . . . oh . . ."

Moving her hands across his latissimus dorsi, Brennan asked, "What's weird?"

Feeling the stiffness leaving his back, Booth sighed, Uh. . . . oh, when I moved out to go into the Army I never dreamed that I'd ever move back here. . . . God that feels so good . . . um, what was I saying? . . . um . . . oh yeah, sure to visit, but not to live."

Staying her hands, Brennan asked quietly, "Are you happy to be here again?"

His back no longer hurting, Booth answered rather dreamily, "Yeah, I love this house. Thanks for buying it Bones."

Moving her hands again, Brennan shifted closer to Booth, "You're welcome. This is the first house I've lived in since my parents . . . " Suddenly still, Brennan seemed to lose herself in thought.

Carefully turning back over, Booth took her hands in his, "Bones, I'm sorry Max and Christine did what they did but that's the past. You and me, we're together now and you're never going to be alone again. Never Bones. We're a family now. You and me and the baby."

Smiling, Brennan stood up and moved away from the bed, "I'm going to take a shower now. Would you like to join me?"

Quickly rolling off the bed, Booth shimmied his shorts off his hips and down his legs, "I think I can manage, thanks."
