Just as with most days, Team Fireheart woke with the dawn, each of team's members well-rested. Luke, after a good night's sleep, was eager to resume his team's journey. The young Lucario, after shouldering his backpack, made a few steps toward the village exit.
"Why don't you let me check on you bit," Blaze offered, sensing his son's anxiety. "Kinesis and I both understand your urgency to get going, but I'd like to see if you've made any kind of progress in terms of recovery."
"I'm fine, Dad," Luke calmly replied. "I feel a lot better than I did yesterday; I'm not as sore as I was, and I actually feel awake for the first time in a while."
"That's good to hear," Blaze sighed.
So where are we headed, then? Kinesis asked. Whichever one's closer, between Regice and Registeel, as Luke previously stated, right?
"Uhh…" Luke muttered. "Maybe we should check the map, just to get an idea of that."
Blaze retrieved the map and scanned its surface, mentally estimating the distance between their current destination and the locations of Regice and Registeel.
"Looks like Regice would be closer, but just barely," the Blaziken noted.
"Then that means we'll be heading north from here," Luke declared.
We'd be heading north, anyway, regardless of which of the two we go after, Kinesis observed.
"Right," Luke replied.
After a quick breakfast, Team Fireheart bid the Village of Ideals a fond farewell and a promise of future visits. Upon stepping out into the morning sun, the trio of Pokémon eagerly awaited their upcoming journey. Feeling rejuvenated from both the warm sunlight and their latest visit to the Village of Ideals, Team Fireheart headed north.
As they were almost back into the desert, the travelers heard an echoing cry from above. Instantly, the trio froze and looked around for the source of the piercing noise. Upon recognizing the familiar black form of Zekrom, Luke, Blaze, and Kinesis eased up.
Upon being noticed, the Dragon of Ideals began a gentle descent.
"Zekrom! What's going on?" Luke asked after his friend had landed.
"I wanted to help you guys get to your next destination," the dragon replied.
"How exactly could you do that?" Blaze asked.
I'm equally curious, Kinesis added. Do you plan to accompany us?
"In a manner of speaking," Zekrom answered. "Wait there; I'll be back as soon as I can."
As they watched the Dragon of Ideals fly away, Luke and his teammates discussed their thoughts on what the Pokémon in question had planned.
"I personally figured he would try to lead us through the desert," Luke admitted.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see," Blaze noted.
Sure enough, Zekrom returned a short time after he had left, but he wasn't alone.
"So…what's the plan? Why go and get Reshiram?" Luke asked. "I have a small idea of what it could be, but why don't you two go ahead and fill us in, just so we don't jump to any sort of conclusions."
"Basically, Zekrom came and explained the situation you guys are in," Reshiram explained. "He told me about what happened with Regirock—awesome job on that victory, Luke!" The Pokémon in question blushed and laughed nervously in response. "You guys only have Regice and Registeel left to go after. So which one were you planning to search for first?"
"Regice," Luke answered.
So what's your plan for helping us get there? Kinesis asked.
"Zekrom came up with the idea of carrying you guys there, like when Luke traveled with him to visit me, just to make things easier for you," Reshiram explained.
"It sounds like we have a plan," Luke said, happily. "What are we waiting for, guys?"
"Wait a minute," Blaze said, suddenly.
"What is it?" Zekrom asked.
"How are we going to do this?" Blaze asked in response. "There's three of us, but only two of you."
The five took a short moment to discuss their travel arrangements, and settled on Luke and Blaze riding on Reshiram while Kinesis would ride on Zekrom.
This is…interesting, Kinesis mused. A bit weird, and yet…I can understand why Luke was so quick to accept this idea.
"It's actually pretty cool once you get the hang of it," Luke noted.
"Ready?" Reshiram asked after her passengers had made themselves comfortable.
"Ready," Blaze answered.
With that, the two dragons were airborne and with a surge of energy, they headed north.
