Early, but short chapter. Still a bonus I guess? And something... Interesting happens at the end.

Also, 606 Follows and 567 Favorites?! Thank you all so much!

The Night of Illuminations is a night that I've dreaded every year since Grayson and Miranda died. I watch the humans hang lanterns with a blank stare.

"As a long-time member of the Historical Society, I am especially proud to be kicking off this day of festivities. Thank you, volunteers. Tonight, we turn off our town's lights and flare up our lanterns in honor of the night of illumination started by our founders 150 years ago. Here's founding family member Tobias Fell with a history lesson," Carol Lockwood says and I finally look at my brother.

"What are we doing here?" he asks Ric.

"Tobias Fell is the head of the history department. I didn't have a choice," Ric says.

"All right, that explains what you're doing here," Jer says and I laugh.

"Well, I'm the one who can fail you if you don't help me out," Ric says and Elena walks over to us.

"Hey, sorry I'm late. What did I miss?" Elena asks.

"Just bullshit," I say.

"You didn't miss anything," Jer says.

"The first illumination was held in celebration with the newfound prosperity that Mystic Falls enjoyed after the war," Tobias Fell says.

Jeremy laughs after a beat and I look to him.

"What's so funny?" Elena asks and he looks at the stage.

"The founders, they placed lanterns over the doors to indicate that it was safe for their neighbors to come outside again," Tobias says and I roll my eyes.

"Safe from all the scary vampires," I say and throw my hands up, "Blah blah blah. Can we get food?"

"Yeah, I want you guys to help me with something," Elena says and we walk over to the Grill.

We take a sit at a table outside and Elena brings out Stefan's journals.

"What's up?" Jer asks.

"I've been going through Stefan's old journals. Every single time that he's gone off the rails in the past, his best friend Lexi's been the one to bring him back," Elena says.

"So where is she now that we need her?" Ric asks.

"Well, she's dead, so..." I say.

"And you want me to try to reach her, don't you?" Jeremy asks.

"I thought if I knew how she did it, maybe I could help him," Elena says.

"I don't even know if she's on The Other Side," Jer says.

"Is that what it's called?" Elena asks.

"That's what Anna calls it. There's not like an official brochure or anything," Jer says and I laugh.

"So what is it, like some sort of supernatural purgatory?" Ric says.

"Well, Anna said it's like being here with all of us, only we can't see her or hear her. And she can't interact with anyone. She's all alone," he says.

"Vicki could interact. She blew up my car," Ric says.

"Vicki had help from a witch on the other side. Anna... She's doing this all by herself," he says.

"I'm just saying, maybe we learned our lesson about summoning dead people," Ric says.

"Do you think it's even possible to contact Lexi?" Elena asks.

"I don't know. I didn't have an emotional connection with her. I never even met her," Jeremy says.

"Can we just drop it, please?" Ric asks and I nod.

"No, I can't drop it, Ric. I don't know what else to do," Elena says.

"Don't you think we have a few too many dead vampires in our past to be sitting here thinking of them watching us?" Ric asks.

"I'd rather not bring them to us. Especially certain ones," I say and Jeremy looks beside him.

"Is Anna here right now?" Elena asks.

"No, no. I'm going to go, uh, check my work schedule. Meg, would you come with me for a second?" he says and I follow him inside to the bathroom.

"What's up?" I ask and he makes a face like he doesn't want to say what he's about to.

"Mason. He's supposed to be alive, right?" he asks.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"He's... he's here. He said Damon killed him," he says and I clinch my jaw.

"He what? Tyler's been there all summer. I don't- What?" I ask and Jeremy rubs my shoulder.

"When Tyler came back. After the whole thing with Klaus turning you. He's saying-" Jeremy says and looks beside me, "He's saying Damon came up there, and killed him, so Klaus wouldn't be able to make him a hybrid. He killed the whole pack Mason found."

"Mother fucker!" I scream and throw my fist into the bathroom stall.

"Meg... Calm down," Jeremy says and places his hand on my shoulder.

I whip my head towards him and I start to calm down.

"I'm sorry you had to see that," I say and he smiles.

"Go find Damon and kick his ass," he says and I smile back.

"Gladly," I say and walk out of the bathroom.

I see Damon walking into the Grill and I walk towards him.

"Hey, dick!" I say and Damon turns to smile at me, before dropping it.

"Meg..." he says, slowly backing up.

"Remember how my brother sees dead people?" I say and take a step forward, "You'll never believe who he saw."

"Meg," Ric says coming up behind me, "As much as I condone beating Damon's ass, here isn't the place."

"I don't know. It seems like the perfect place," I hear a voice say and I turn to see Mason standing there.

"Mason..." I say and slowly walk towards him.

He smiles as I fully make my way to him. I slowly raise my hand, before slapping him across the face. He doubles back and I hear Pops laughing.

"First of all, fuck you. Second of all, how the hell are you here?" I ask.

He bends down and picks up a glass of whiskey, downing it in one go.

"God, I miss whiskey," he says and smashes the glass into Damon's forehead.

"You boys have fun," I say and walk out of the diner.

I walk into the boarding house as Caroline hangs up her phone.

"What witchy things are we up to?" I ask and Bonnie looks at me.

"Um... Lexi's back, so Elena wants us to hold off on destroying the necklace," Caroline says.

"You said boyfriend dramas. Plural. What is it, Caroline?" Bonnie asks and I look at Caroline.

"Elena caught Jeremy kissing Anna," Caroline says and I gasp.

"What?" Bonnie asks.

"I'm sorry," Caroline says.

"He kissed her?" I ask, just as shocked as Bonnie.

"She's got a foothold now, so she probably thinks that she's here to stay. But we're going to find that necklace. Okay? Okay," Caroline says and looks at me, "It'd be great to have your help."

I look at Bonnie and sigh.

"Well, you're a good part of the reason I'm a hybrid... So I guess, I can put aside my distaste for you... And help you get rid of the bitch trying to take your man," I say and Bonnie slowly smiles.

"Is that supposed to be an apology?" she asks and I roll my eyes.

"If you'd like to take it that way," I say.

"Megara Gilbert! My childhood best friend, if you don't get this chip off your shoulder-" she says and I rush to hug her.

"I'm sorry! Happy?" I ask and I hear Caroline laughing.

"Yes," Bonnie says, pulling back with a smile.

"Let's find this stupid necklace!" I say and they laugh.

"Ugh! I give up. It's not anywhere in this room," Caroline says as we finish searching Damon's room.

Bonnie's phone vibrates and she looks at Caroline to answer it for her.

"What do you want, Jeremy?" Caroline says.

"Caroline? Did you find that necklace?" Jeremy asks.

"Not yet. Wait, what's going on?" she asks.

"Ghosts of the tomb vampires killed Tobias Fell. You might want to find that necklace before they start going alphabetically through the founding families," Jeremy says.

"Well, it's not where it's supposed to be. Unless someone took it," she says.

"Who?" he asks.

"Well, who do you think?" she asks.

"She said she didn't take it," Jer says.

"Oh, and you believe her," Caroline says.

"You know what, yeah, yeah, I do believe her," he says and I rip the phone from her hand.

"You know what," I say, mocking him, "Don't be an idiot. Wake up, Jeremy."

I hang up the phone.

I sit in Bonnie's backseat as Caroline hangs up the phone.

"Jeremy's got the necklace. He's going to meet us at the witch house," she says.

"Okay. What's going on up there?" Bonnie says and slows down.

"That's Carol's car," I say and Bonnie slams on the brakes as Frederick walks across the road.

"Okay," I say and move to the car door, "They all seem pissed."

I quickly jump out and smile at Frederick.

"Hey, bud. Long time, no see," I say and rush towards him.

Caroline jumps out of the car and Bonnie speeds away. I bite into Frederick and he slumps to the ground.

"Who's next?" I ask and show my fangs to the other vampires.

Caroline and I fight the rest of them for a while, but they suddenly disappear.

"Just another day in Mystic Falls," I say and come over to Caroline.

She slings her arm over my shoulder and says, "Let's go home."

"So, I can't get in there, but apparently there's something that'll kill Klaus in there," Damon says.

"Kill Klaus?! You can't kill Klaus!" I scream and everyone looks at me strangely.

"And why not?" Damon asks.

"Because he's made me who I am, Damon. I won't let you go through with this," I say.

"Alright, Meg. You need to snap out of it," Damon says, throwing me against the wall.

"There's nothing to snap out of!" I say, pushing him and sending him clear across the room.

"Meg," Elena says and I snap my head to her, "You're sired to Klaus."

I suddenly feel my neck jerked sideways and everything goes dark.

"Alright, assholes!" I scream shaking the cellar door.

"Hello, Sleeping Beauty. How was your nap?" Damon asks as he appears in front of me.

"Let me out!" I scream and he shakes his head.

"I'm afraid I can't do that. You're a danger to yourself and others," he says and I bare my fangs at him, "That's not as scary when you're in there and I'm out here."

I feel my body shaking and I laugh at him.

"Fine," I say, cracking my neck, "We'll see how many hits this door can take from a werewolf."

I begin to turn and he rolls his eyes as I scream in pain.

"You're only hurting yourself," Damon says.

"Maybe so," I say, the pain something I haven't missed in the slightest, "But soon I'll be hurting you."

Damon watches me turn, and when I finally finish turning, I stare at him through the door. I'm sitting here as a wolf, actually being aware of my movements.

I quickly run at the door and he jumps back. I repeat it over and over again until he disappears to the upstairs.

Elena soon comes down, despite Damon calling for her not to. She stares at me through the bars as I hit the door repeatedly. I hit the door particularly hard one last time and the lock bursts open. Damon quickly comes down, speeding Elena upstairs. I slowly exit the cell and transform back out of my wolf form.

"Oh, Damon," I call out and he speeds down.

He smirks at me and claps.

"Good job. You fell for it," he says and I glare.

"Fell for what?" I ask.

"It was Lexi's idea," Elena says, as she once more puts herself in danger.

"She thought that your loyalty to Klaus was because he took away you being forced to change," Damon says.

"Was she right?" Elena asks.

"How do you feel about Klaus?" Damon asks and I think about Klaus for a moment.

It's like a fog is starting to lift, but it's still present.

"I need to do it again," I say and pick another cell, just in case something changes.

"Try not to break this one," Damon says and locks the door.

I go through the process of changing four more times before they're confident I've broken the sire bond.

"Easy peasy," I say, grunting in pain.

"Here," Damon says, handing me a blood bag.

I take it and down it in seconds.

"You done?" Stefan asks from the cell over, "Thanks by the way for locking me in here with a werewolf who can kill me with one bite."

"Aww, but Steffy-poo. I like you a whole bunch. I wouldn't hurt you," I say.

"When Tyler's ready to accept he's sired, we'll help him too," Damon says.

"He's a bigger hothead than me so, we'll see how that goes," I say with a laugh.

SwimmingInTheRain-
Thank you!

MageVicky-
Let's just say her character is gonna get even more like Katherine/The Mikaelsons since she's a vampire and everything is intensified. And yes. I love when Katherine mentions it and Meg gets so pissed.

animexchick-
I'm so ready for it. That's why I'm speeding it up a bit.

Panda Enchantress-
A quick fling would be good for jealousy reasons. I've made a forum and put a poll as to if I should or not.

Guest-
Every hybrid he makes is automatically sired. That's just how it is. If she wasn't sired, it wouldn't make any sense.

Lelleg-
Rebekah and Meg aren't really the type to betray.

Guest-
Surprise!
