Hey all, I am hoping now that I have until chapter 70 figured out, that I can get chapters up a bit faster. As I am working on this one as the main story out of the ones I have going, now that I have a more concrete idea of how the rest of season 3, and some from season 4 will play out within this story, which will take me until chapter 70 to do. Hence the quick update since the previous one. I do want to say that I didn't plan for it to be this long, but there isn't anything I can cut out and really does anyone mind?

Enjoy!

"Good morning, Dr. Wilkes," Brick smiled walking into the practice, seeing his goddaughter hard at work. "How is the inventory checklist coming along?" He asked, seeing what his goddaughter was doing. Happy to see that he didn't have to do inventory this time around.

"Good morning, Dr. Breeland," Zoe smiled, writing down a number. "Well let's see there are 722 cotton balls, 243 alcohol swabs, and 43 lollipops. Actually, 42," she laughed popping a cherry lollipop into her mouth. "That should be everything; I have been here since like 5 doing this," she shrugged, standing up to stretch her back out, hearing it pop.

"Need me to do anything?" He asked, looking over the paper to see what needed to be ordered.

"Nope all is good and I have placed the orders for the things we need," she informed him, giving Annabeth a smile seeing her enter the practice.

"Hi, Zoe, Brick!" AB smiled. "Oh, don't you just love Halloween?" She asked, as they laughed.

"Oh yeah, it's so full of surprises, 42 stomachaches and 16 allergic reactions, just last year," Brick rattled off, in a sarcastic tone. Zoe nodded her head in agreement; she did have to work the day-after Halloween last year.

"Maybe the office should hand out Pepto-Bismol instead of candy tonight. Or will that cut into the day-after business?" She asked, rethinking her suggestion over.

"Oh, thank you, Jerry Seinfeld," he stated a bit of humor finding its way into his voice. "Oh, and AnnaBeth, don't forget, you have your insurance physical today," Brick told her, having seen the chart for today before he went home last night.

"Yep, that's why I am here," Annabeth nodded. "Zoe?" She asked seeing if Zoe was ready to start.

"Go into exam room 2, and I will be right with you," Zoe told her. Annabeth nodded and walked off to exam room 2. "Mind cleaning this up?" She asked looking at Brick.

"I have nothing else to do, since you stole my patient," he joked. Zoe rolled her eyes, telling him thank you as walked into the exam room with AB.

"So other than wanting me to do this exam for you," Zoe said, walking into the exam room. She knew for a fact that Brick was scheduled to do Annabeth's physical. "What is it you wanted to talk about?"

"Lavon told me that tonight is going to be special complete with champagne and my favorite dessert and there's a third thing, but he's being all tight-lipped about it," she sighed.

"Did he say anything else?" Zoe asked, moving about the exam room.

"He did promise it would be a night I'd remember forever," she told her friend.

"Oh, my God! Are you thinking the one other thing is what I'm thinking it is?" Zoe asked, putting some gloves on to get the exam underway.

"I don't know, because I'm trying not to get ahead of myself, because we haven't been together that long, officially, but out of curiosity, what are you thinking?" AB asked, her nerves growing more intense as the seconds of quietness from her friend passed them by.

"Uh, that you're gonna have a super fun night, and maybe you should get a manicure," Zoe smiled.

"So my hand looks beautiful in case…" AB was in the process of saying when a soft huh left her friends mouth. "What?" AB questioned in a near panic.

"I just feel a growth on your ovary. It's probably nothing, but I'm gonna send you to Mobile tomorrow for some tests," Zoe told her friend, seeing a look of frantic panic flash through her eyes.

"Tests? Like... multiple-choice tests, or, like, I need to get my parents back from their retirement cruise and auction off my shoe collection tests?" AB asked, biting her lip in worry at what Zoe was going to tell her.

"Well, no, a growth can, um, signify a number of things. You know, of which 90% are absolutely benign. Like a cyst or a small fibroid. But there's still a ten percent chance it could be…" Zoe was saying when AB spoke up, terrified at was to come.

"Something else?"

"Well, that's why I'm ordering the tests," Zoe told her, placing a comforting hand on her friend's shoulder. "Hey, I'll go with you. And we'll get that manicure on the way back," Zoe suggested.

"That would be really wonderful, Zoe," AB nodded, feeling a tad bit more relieved to know that she would have her friend there with her.

"Look, AB, I know it's hard, but try not to worry," Zoe said, biting her own lip. Because if she was in her friend's place, she would do nothing but worry.

"Right. It'll be a piece of cake," AB said, trying to sound confident, failing miserably.

"Right," Zoe nodded. "I'll let you get ready, and I'll see you later, okay?" She asked her friend.

"Yeah, maybe we can do a friend's dinner, since ya know we haven't done it for a while," AB suggested.

"As long as you and Lemon are up to it; you both are with kids these days," Zoe smiled.

"Who are you kidding? Lemon will be thrilled about it," AB laughed. "I will talk to her and let you know," AB told her. Zoe nodded, walking out of the exam room and to her office to get the tests for AB ordered.

"Considering that you're not doing work in here," Brick said, giving Zoe quite the fright. He laughed when Zoe told him just that. "If you would've been working, instead of playing on your phone, I wouldn't have scared you," Brick laughed.

"That might very well be true," Zoe laughed, sitting her phone down. "Anything I can help you with?" She asked, holding back her laughter hearing her phone ping.

"I was going to say that I can cover the rest of the day, but the 2nd through the 4th are all yours," he told her, taking a small trip to go see his mother, a good chance he would be needing plenty of alcohol, not only dealing with his mother but Magnolia was going along with him.

"I have it covered," Zoe nodded, packing up. "I am going to go before you change your mind," Zoe teased, standing up.

"Like I'd change my mind," Brick laughed. "It's like you don't even know your godfather," he teased.

"Now, Brick, we both know how it can be," she teased, slipping her white doctors coat off and hanging it up. "Don't you dare play your little game on me now," she smirked.

"Who says I am playing?" Brick smirked, walking to his office. "Have a good rest of your day, Zoe," he told her.

"You enjoy today and the rush you'll get after Halloween," she teased him. "Though I do imagine it'll be better than dealing with your mother," she remarked.

"I am afraid you'd be right about that," he sighed, shaking his head.

"How about I cover the 5th for you as well, and you can spend the day how you see fit?" She suggested.

"I might take you up on that offer," he told her, entering his office.

Making sure she had everything she headed out, going to the Jammer to get lunch. She smiled seeing Calla. The friends shared a hug and walked together, finding out that Calla too is headed to the Jammer to get their lunch to have a little picnic while Finn plays with Earl at the park.

"How are you liking Bluebell?" She asks her friend. Finding time to really hang out with her friend from college, had been hard considering they lived a few blocks over.

"Honestly, I thought I was going to hate it here, you know me, city girl through and through," she shared. Zoe nodded, remembering the late-night talks in college they had about everything life could ever give them. "And after spending time here and getting to know the town and the people, I can't imagine moving back to the city. I can see why you came home and why Wade made this place home," she smiled.

"Far more than just missing home and childhood friends brought me back, but I can't say I am disappointed with coming home," Zoe smiled. Heartache playing a huge role in moving home, but honestly if she wouldn't have made the move home, she didn't think that she'd have what she had now, that being the love she has with Wade. "You and Jesse busy tonight?" She asked.

"We're having date night," she shared. "Finn loves spending nights with Grandpa Earl, and it gives us the perfect excuse to have a date night. Why do you ask?"

"I was going to invite you over for this dinner with friends thing we do every so often, more times in the past than lately, and I thought hey; it be fun to have you and Jesse there, even Finn could come along," Zoe rambled out.

"Maybe next time," Calla offered. "After having a kid it's hard to have time to ourselves and I really just want to be with husband tonight," she told her friend, sympathy on passing the night up wrote on her face.

"Hey now, it's fine; I can understand that you want a night with Jesse. I don't have a baby, but I know how wanting a night with the one person I love the most without interruption is," Zoe appeased her friend. "Wade wanted it so much that we went to Florida for my birthday dinner," Zoe beamed remembering that night a few weeks ago.

"Sounds romantic," Calla said raising an eyebrow at her friend.

"Very much so, for a second I thought he might pop the very important question," Zoe revealed to her friend.

"Who is asking what?" Lemon asked, coming up behind them, giving Zoe a fright.

"What is it with your family trying to give me a heart attack today?" Zoe asked, her right hand covering her heart. Lemon rose an eyebrow at her long-time friend, not finding it funny and really wanting her questioned answered. "Wade and I'll explain it all before the guys turn up tonight," she quickly told her friend, entering the Jammer.

"I want a play by play," Lemon warned her friend, walking off to meet her husband and son for lunch.

"Should I ask?" Wade asked, as he walked by them, stopping to share a quick kiss with his girlfriend. "Hey Calla," he said, hugging his sister in law.

"It's Lemon, do you think it's safe to ask?" Zoe asked him.

"Nope," he chuckled. "Have a seat and I'll be right there," he let Zoe know. She nodded and walked to the booth they normally have lunch at when she can get away from the practice long enough.

Calla excused herself, walking to the counter to get her food, so she could be on her way back to her boys and Earl. While Zoe waited for Wade to join her, she looked around at the people laughing and having a good time, seeing really for the first time just how amazing Wade was at owning the Jammer and how he fit into her world here. Wade Kinsella is thriving in little ol' Bluebell and that made her proud of her boyfriend.

"We have plans tonight, don't we?" Wade asked, joining his girlfriend, placing their drinks on the table. Zoe raised an eyebrow at him, wanting him to elaborate more. "I overheard Lemon and George talking," he confessed.

"We figured since it's something we haven't done for a while, we'd try it out, might be a bit harder with two kids there, but it'll be worth it. I tried to invite Calla and Jesse, but they're having a date. Earl is having a sleepover with Finn," she quickly told her boyfriend, taking a drink of her lemonade.

"Dad sure does love having a grandson, every time I see him; he gives me a look that I should be giving him a granddaughter," Wade chuckled. Earl had just given him that look last week when he stopped in to check on his dad. Not only had his dad been giving him a look about having a baby but questioned him about how long before he could truly call Zoe a daughter. He didn't have a concrete answer for him.

"Trust me, Wade, he's been good at giving me those same little looks," Zoe laughed. "But as much as he wants to have another grandbaby, I think he needs to take that up with Jesse and Calla," she told her boyfriend. Anything is a possibility, and she wants kids, but not in her immediate future. Even so, she wouldn't have a meltdown if getting pregnant happened.

"I am right there with you," Wade nodded. Two years ago, he wouldn't have been so sure about kids in his future, after dating Zoe for almost two years now, he could say with certainty that he wanted kids. However, he wasn't going to rush out to have kids with Zoe, not when he had plans of proposing to her in the not so distant future.

"Just because our friends are having kids, it doesn't mean we need to rush out and have a house full of them," he commented.

"Two maybe three of them are all we need," Zoe shuttered at the thought of having more than that.

"That is why I love you," Wade smirked. "We always seem to be on the same page," he winked.

"Even when I don't agree with you, and we fight?" She asked, raising an eyebrow, sipping at her cold lemonade.

"Especially then," he smirked. "You get this crazy look in your eyes that makes me love you more because you won't take my shit, you are a very stubborn woman, but I love you for it," he stated.

"Someone needs to tell you how it is," she winked at him. "In case you wanted to know, I love you," she smiled at him.

"I can say with utmost certainty, that I don't question it, and I know that you love me, even if I wonder why you do," he told her.

"Because you're you and you're not afraid to be you, and you've been there for me; you have a big kind heart that's easy to love," she quickly rattled off, linking her fingers with his. "Do I need a reason to love you?"

"Maybe not," he chuckled. "Zoe Wilkes, we're kindred hearts," he smiled, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles.

"And I'm getting a sweet tooth, just listening to this," Lemon teased, stopping at the booth. "Zoe, when you're done getting cavities here, the rest of us will be at my place; we won't start getting ready for dinner until you show up," Lemon stated.

"I'll be there once I finish lunch," Zoe assured her friend.

"I won't keep her too long," Wade smirked. Lemon rolled her eyes, walking off before her little boy got fussy.

"Do you think Wade will propose anytime soon?" Annabeth questioned, her mind still reeling about everything, she'd shift from thinking about what Lavon has planned to what she may find out tomorrow.

"Honestly? I don't know, if he does it might not be for a while yet," Zoe shrugged, and she was okay with that. Like Wade said not even hours ago, there is no rush for their future, it'll all fall into place for them without forcing it too.

"You sure did get lucky when you found Wade," Lemon said, rushing back into the room after checking on her son.

"I didn't exactly find him," Zoe laughed. "We might have found each other," she shrugged. "Are Crickett and Stanley coming tonight?" Zoe asked, wanting all talk to be off of her.

"Nope, they're headed out of town for something," Lemon shrugged. "They let on that they have the perfect marriage, but between the three of us; I think they're having trouble, and they don't want a soul to know about it," she stated, mashing the potatoes.

"They don't have a perfect marriage; no marriage or relationship for that matter is perfect," AB said, draining the pasta. "I should know," she muttered.

"Fighting is healthy; one cannot simply agree on everything," Lemon commented, rolling her eyes. "Hence why I think they're having trouble, and they need to go out of town to a therapist," she stated.

"It would be logical and so them," Zoe muttered. The other two women in the kitchen agreeing with her. "Does being divorced give you pause in getting married again?" Zoe asked, looking at Annabeth from her spot at the stove where she was making a creamy sauce for the pasta and keeping an eye on the gravy.

"Having been a single mother, I thought it would be the last thing I ever wanted was to get into a relationship and Lavon has been so sweet and calm about it all that it's been nothing short of perfect; we have our moments where we blow up at each other, but we always work it out and knowing that he'll always be there, it helps assure me that he is nothing like Jake and that I would like to take our relationship to that level," AB gushed with a huge beaming smile on her face.

"It also helps that he is so great with Jordynn," Zoe pointed out, seeing on many occasions how Lavon would be the one watching and playing with the little girl, being the daddy the girl needed.

"He loves Jordynn like his own," AB gushed. "He's been pretty great at taking it the pace I have needed it to be," she told her friends. She couldn't praise her boyfriend enough.

"Go get your crying boy," Zoe told her friend, hearing the cries that only grew louder when his mother or father wasn't there to hold him. "We can handle everything without burning the food, ourselves or the house down," she laughed; Lemon gave a huff as she left the kitchen to see what her boy needed.

"About tomorrow," AB said, chewing on her bottom lip, her nerves coming out once more.

"There is nothing to worry about, AB," Zoe assured her friend. "I scheduled a consult with Dr. Blackwell. He's gonna do an internal ultrasound and a blood test. And we should be home in time for dinner, nothing to fret over," she let her friend know.

"Okay, so it's like a spa day, only... a little more painful?" AB asked, taking a deep breath to help calm her nerves.

"One could put it that way," Zoe nodded, moving around the kitchen to hug her friend.

"Thank you so much for going with me," AB said hugging her friend.

"Of course, I can't let you go alone," Zoe told her.

It wasn't that long after they had composed themselves that the guys showed up, taking their little party of three to the living room, Moxley going with his dad. Annabeth hugged and kissed her little girl, before she wanted to be with Lavon again, making it perfect since AB was helping get the food ready.

It had been the perfect night to help keep things from AB's mind and for her to not worry about her appointment and tests as they had a blast just spending time with each other and retelling stories, they had laughed so hard that there wasn't a dry eye in the little group of friends. The night ended sooner than it normally does with two young kids needing to keep to the routine they had. But regardless of the time they went home, it was a nice night and something they all needed.

"The good news is, it's definitely not a tumor," Zoe half smiled, walking out of the Mobile hospital, linking her arm through AB's. "I realize how that sounds like you just won the world's worst game show," she cringed, not meaning for it to sound that way; she was trying to make it sound like good news and let the worries her friend held could be put to rest for a few hours while she focused on her night with Lavon.

"What about all the other things the gynecologist hasn't ruled out yet?" AB questioned solemnly, casting her gaze at the walkway, each scenario turning out worse than the one before in her mind. "Zoe, I've always wanted to have more children; I love Jordynn, but what if I can't?" She asked. "I know that sounds horrible, Jordynn is enough if she's all I can have, but I want to give Lavon a child of his own; I don't want that option to be taken from me," she rambled out; she didn't want to seem ungrateful; she loves her child with more love than she thought possible, and it wouldn't be the end of the world if she couldn't have more, the thought of that option being taken from her, tore her up on the inside.

"Annabeth," Zoe sighed, turning to face her friend, taking AB's hands in her own, gently squeezing them, assuring her things would be okay. "Dr. Blackwell said the chances of infertility are very small. We'll know more tomorrow. If I were you, I just... I wouldn't think about it until then."

"Really? Would you be able to stop thinking about it?" Annabeth questioned raising a brow at her friend. It's hard to not to think about it and focus on anything else. It's there in the back of her mind, in the forefront of her mind not wanting to budge from its spot.

"No, but I am significantly more neurotic than you," Zoe shrugged.

"Oh, not today. The weight of not knowing is consuming me. I can't let Lavon propose tonight, not with this huge unknown hanging over my head," she sighed, hanging her head slightly. "Oh, crab on a cracker," she muttered.

"What if we get him to put it off? We'll say you're sick. I'll write a note. We'll say it's something very contagious, like pinkeye. Ooh, or bird flu!" Zoe said trying to cheer her friend up.

"Yeah, let's not render me totally unappealing," she dryly chuckled.

"Right. How 'bout this," Zoe suggested. "You go home and tell that boyfriend of yours that you want to spend the night with your daughter after taking her trick or treating and reschedule your date night," Zoe offered.

"I don't think that would really work, considering we've pretty much moved in with him and Lynly went back home to visit her parents," she sighed. "Have I told you how annoying and frustrating she can be?" AB asked, as they started to walk once more.

"You have," Zoe nodded. She had heard everything Lavon's cousin has done to annoy and tick off her friend. "Then you need to sit down with Lavon and tell him what's going on; he'll understand. You know how important it is to talk about things like this," Zoe told her.

"I know," Annabeth sighed. "But what if he doesn't like what I have to say?"

"Then he isn't the right guy for you," Zoe pointedly told her. "But we're talking about Lavon here, and he has to be the most understanding person in all of Bluebell; he isn't going to toss you to the side; he'll hold you and tell you everything is going to be okay and that it doesn't matter how many children you can have, because of adoption, surrogacy, you have options," she tries to assure her friend that this wasn't the end for her to have a big family like she wants.

"You might have a point," Annabeth shared.

"That does happen from time to time," Zoe smiled. "Now let's go get that manicure and do a bit of retail shopping before we head back home, sound good?" She asked her friend with a bright smile.

"Like you wouldn't believe," AB giggled, as she headed off to have an afternoon with her friend and to let her worries escape her for a few hours.

Zoe got home and put away the clothes, shoes, and makeup she splurged on. Spying the time she took a shower, knowing that Wade wouldn't be home for another hour. As much as she was supposed to spend Halloween with her boyfriend, he understood when she told him that she had to go with Annabeth to Mobile, using doctor/patient confidentiality as her excuse as to why she couldn't go any further into detail about why. He didn't question her, nodded his head and said he would spend the afternoon with his dad, and his brother's little family.

Despite the cute clothes in her closest or the stunning sets in her dresser she grabbed a pair of yoga pants and one of Wade's tees, pulled her hair up into a bun and made her way downstairs forgoing any makeup. She put the bowl of candy by the door, waiting on what would the first round of trick or treaters, having a bowl of things suitable for anyone under the age of 1.

"I hear there's this masquerade ball tonight," Wade said, breaking Zoe from the show she found to wait on her boyfriend to return, not that she got very far into the show, not when there had been a few knocks at the door. "And Dash is putting on a one-man show," he commented, uncrossing his feet from where he stood to have a seat on the couch with his girlfriend.

"Dash is great, but I have seen plenty of his shows; we can always catch the next one," she told him, moving to lay her feet in his lap. Wade smiled, gently rubbing her right foot, earning himself a few moans as he did so. "And you need an invite to the masquerade ball," she said, her eyes closing as his fingers worked magic over her feet.

"But what's the chance he does this one again?" Wade smirked.

"If reviews are good, in about two or three years," Zoe shrugged. "Did you really want to go?" She asked him, worried that she was making him stay in with her.

"And miss being here with the one I love?" He asked, switching to rub her left foot. "I'll pass," he smiled. "Also I heard from a great source that as a Belle, you have an invite to the ball," he smirked.

"And dressing up and drinking free drinks sounds like a blast, while smooching the rich and pompous," she deadpanned. Honestly attending the ball didn't sound that bad, and she would have liked to go, but after the ordeal with AB, she really just wanted to stay at home cuddling with her boyfriend. "We can make the next one because you know what?" She asked him, removing her feet from his lap, curling up in his embrace, her head laying against his chest once he got situated.

"What's that, Doc?" He asked, pressing a kiss to her crown. He could think of various things she could say to him, and he could guess what she had to say, but hearing it from her was better than her just agreeing to what he guessed.

"Nothing is better than being here with you, watching campy horror movies. I don't need booze to get drunk, not when I get drunk on your love," she told him, giving him a blinding smile. The only response he could give was crashing his lips to hers, movies and spending the night curled up on the couch forgotten about, letting themselves get lost in a sea of emotions that are each other.

Wade and Zoe spent their morning together, making breakfast. Zoe had asked him about work, because she knew his schedule just the way, he knew her work schedule.

"Work can wait, the perks of owning the place," he smirked. "My morning is better off spent at home with my stunning girlfriend," he winked, flipping a pancake.

She couldn't disagree when he said things like that, and not when they were going to be busy with work for the next few days since she'll be the only doctor in town. She continued to work on cutting up some fruit to go with their pancakes, eggs and bacon. Ready to enjoy her morning with the one she loves wholeheartedly.

Midmorning after Wade left for work; Zoe cleaned up from their breakfast, assuring Wade that she had it covered, quickly kissing him as she pushed him out the door to get to work. She was in the process of wiping the table clean when she got the call from Dr. Blackwell telling her the results AB is worrying about. Not wanting to make her friend wait any longer, she made plans with AB to get some tea at the Butter Stick.

"So?" Annabeth asked after Zoe told her she got the results, playing with the biscotti on her plate, not able to eat anything.

"It's a small cyst on your ovary, totally common and entirely treatable," she told her friend in a low voice not wanting everyone around them to hear, seeing the worry slip right off her friends face, turn into one of pure joy.

"That means everything's going to be good, and I can have as many kids as I want?" She asked giddy.

"You're fine and ready to have 19 little football stars," Zoe teased. "You can have as many running backs, or quarterbacks you want," Zoe smiled, taking a sip of her tea, happy for her friend.

"Yay!" AB cheered. "Maybe I might add a pitcher into the chaos of it all," she teased, her smile only growing.

"They can be whatever they want to be, Annabeth," smiled Zoe. "Now how was the rest of your night?" She asked.

"His surprise wasn't a ring; he set up a screen outside to watch the original film version of Night of the Living Dead, since I've never watched a horror movie, and it was sweet, even if it wasn't my thing," AB filled her friend in.

"And you did you tell him about what's been going on?" She asked her friend. She could remember from growing up how AB would always decline hanging out with them if they watched a horror flick, they never pushed her into watching one and found different movies to watch with her.

"We did," AB smiled. "It was nice to tell him and to know that he didn't lash out and break things off, that he held me while I cried and assured me that things would work out whatever the results," she shared, picking her cup up.

"I am so happy for AB," Zoe smiled, taking a drink of her tea.

Everything for her and for her friends were working out. But she did have an inkling that things weren't going to stay this calm for long, and boy did she ever hope that she was wrong about that.
