Percy POV
The final battle was approaching fast. Arabella is due tomorrow. She mentioned how Luke wanted the world to be ready for their baby, so we were expecting his army any day now. Everyone was working in overtime. Lily and Dylan were creating final battle plans. They were working so hard. Ben and I were helping them too, but this is their war to lead.
I was having a hard time being away from Annabeth and my sister. Thank the gods they were away from the war though. If they were here, it would make everything ten times harder. I know both of them can handle themselves, but it's just one less thing to worry about.
I didn't even know if my new baby is going to be a boy or girl. Annabeth didn't want to find out without me there. And my little sister was going to have twins. However, from what I heard she was having a tough time with the pregnancy. Whenever we iris messaged her and Annabeth, they both acted fine but I could tell Allie was having a rough time. Annabeth is handling it very well though. She's going to be a great mom again.
When I was lost in thought, Lily came up to me and coughed. I snapped out of my mind and turned to her. "Oh hey honey. Sorry, I was just thinking-" but Lily cut me off.
"Thinking about what?" she asked. "The war? Mom and the baby? Aunt Allie and her babies? There is a lot to think about."
I smiled. "Yeah, actually all of that. You know me so well."
She nodded. "I actually need to ask your opinion and for a favor." She laid out a map of camp. "We are trying to guard as much of camp as possible." I nodded knowing the plan. "We were going to have you and Ben out in front of camp with swords fighting but I was wondering if you two would move by the lake?" She bit her lip.
I raised an eyebrow. "And why would you want to move us away from the center of the fight?" I asked.
"I'm not sidelining you if that's what you are wondering." Lily started. "I just thought with your water Poseidon powers if there happened to be an attack by the lake you would be better suited for it."
I nodded. "Sure and not in the front lines where I'm needed."
She threw her hands up in defense. "Please dad. You've done your part a million times over. You've fought in major wars and trained years beyond what we could have asked. Please, stay by the lake and if I need you I'll call you."
I could see the defeat in my daughter's eyes. She looked just like Annabeth and acted like it too with her stubbornness. I knew I wouldn't win this fight so I just sighed.
"Okay, but you know normally the father takes care of the daughter, not the other way around." I said smiling.
Lily smiled too. "Now it's time for me to take care of you." She looked like she was about to say something but stopped. "Hey, isn't it almost time for you to IM mom and aunt Allie?"
My eyes widen. "Shoot, I totally forgot about it!" I jumped up from my seat and started to run towards the water's edge to meet Ben.
"Bye dad, love you." Lily screamed at me.
"Love you too," I yelled at my daughter.
I ran as fast as I could in my older age. I was probably faster than most men my age, but I was getting slower for a demigod.
Once I got to the beach, Ben was already there waiting. He was just starring off into the distance, probably contemplating life like I was earlier. When he heard me coming, he stood up immediately.
"Hey Percy," he said with a smile.
"Hello Ben," I responded.
Through the last few months, Ben and I had grown closer. We both missed our wives and were nervous for this war. We wanted to make it through to see our family again and to meet our unborn children.
I didn't like Ben at first when he started dating Allie. Once she started dating him, I knew she was just getting more and more into the demigod business and dangerous lifestyle. I started to like him until he disappeared and found out Allie was pregnant with his child. Of course, it wasn't his fault for disappearing. However, I remember the day Allie told me she was pregnant right after he left and before he disappeared. It was interesting.
I had just come back from training and saw Allie pacing around the Poseidon cabin. I knew she was nervous with Ben leaving right after they got engaged but something else seemed to be troubling her. She was really pacing back and forth. Not only that, but she was twirling her engagement ring on her finger. What was wrong?
I walked in and greeted her. "Hey little sis', what's up?"
Her eyes widened when I addressed her. "Hey Percy. Can I talk to you for a second?" She was smiling with her eyes but still appeared nervous.
"Sure?" I said but also almost asked. Allie rarely got nervous for anything, even going straight into enemy territory. I had no idea what was wrong.
She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and fiddled with her hands. "You might want to sit down." She said.
I took a seat cautiously on my bed. "Allie, seriously you're scaring me. Is everything okay?"
She nodded and smiled. "Yeah, actually everything is better than okay." She started to talk really fast. "It's just I just found out and Ben is gone. I don't know who else to tell. I can't keep it to myself. I didn't really suspect it until I was late. And not just late, but really late. I would tell Ben but I can't and you're my big brother but you might totally freak out. But really it's not that big of a deal. We are going to get married and we are adults so it's fine-"
I grabbed Allie's hands and stopped her from pacing. I then placed my hands on her shoulders and had her sit down next to me. I took her hands and looked her in the eyes.
"Allie please. What is going on?" I asked.
Slowly, she started to smile. She adverted her eyes from looking at me lower until they were looking down. She continued to smile. Allie then let go and placed her hands on her lower abdomen. She looked back up at me and her eyes lit up.
"Percy, I'm pregnant. Ben and I are going to have a baby." Allie said.
Immediately I stood up and started pacing as Allie just was. I screamed at her. "Wait, you're what?!"
She gulped but continued smiling. "I'm pregnant, expecting, whatever you want to call it. I'm going to have a baby."
I shook my head. "Nope, that's not possible. You're my baby sister. And in order to have a baby you need to have sex and you haven't done that. Nope."
She laughed. "Percy yes I've had sex."
I put my fingers in my ears. "La la la, nope, I'm not listening."
Allie again laughed and stood up. She walked over to me and grabbed my hands out of my ears. She lifted up her shirt slightly and then placed my hands on her bare belly.
"Percy," she said calmly again. "There's a baby growing in there. Your little niece or nephew. You're going to be an uncle."
That intrigued me. I crouched down on my knees and got my face near her belly and started talking to the baby. "Hi baby. I'm your uncle Percy."
Allie smiled. "You're going to be a great uncle."
I stood up and gave Allison a hug. "And you're going to be a great mom." Allie then released the breath I didn't know she had been holding. I guess sometimes she needed to be told things she already knew.
"But I'm still going to kill Ben for sleeping with you." I answered.
I could almost feel her rolling her eyes. "Percy…"
That feels like it was forever ago. Ben and I were like brothers know. We understood what each other were going through. He was completely family now.
Just then an IM came through of Allie and Annabeth. They were both sitting down on a couch in the house they were staying in. Even though they were sitting, both of their large pregnant stomachs were still able to be seen.
Annabeth looked beautiful. She was just glowing. This pregnancy was not expected, but she was taking it so amazingly. I couldn't think of a better wife to have.
Allie on the other hand looked like a trooper. Dark bags were under her eyes. She had both her hands placed on her belly. The smile on her face seemed almost forced. She was almost wincing too, probably the twins kicking her harshly.
"Hi," Annabeth said.
"Oh honey," Ben said looking at Allie.
Allie responded quickly and defensively. "Sweetie, I'm fine really." As she finished her sentence, she let out a small gasp.
I raised my eyebrow. "Really?"
Annabeth shook her head. "The twins have been keeping Allie up at night. They also have been fighting a lot."
Allie looked sad. "Annabeth, you didn't need to tell them that. They already have enough to worry about."
Ben shook his head and looked very sad. "Babe, I'm so sorry you have to go through this."
When he spoke, you could see Allie started to relax. She then let out a real smile. "The twins are definitely going to be daddy boy's or girl's. They stop kicking whenever you talk."
Ben nodded again. "I'm so sorry. How's Ashlyn doing?"
"She misses her daddy, of course." Allie said. "But she's been really good. We had kind of a long morning so she's taking a nap right now."
"What happened? Is everything okay?" I asked.
Annabeth and Allie looked at each other concerned. "I can tell them," Allie said but Annabeth shook her head.
"Relax," she said. "I can tell them." Allie looked as if she was going to protest, but decided against it.
"Tell us what?" I asked.
Annabeth sighed. "It appears that our niece, Ashlyn, can predict the future."
"Like the future-future?" Ben asked.
Annabeth nodded. "Yes, like prophecies."
Allie started to add in. "She had dates on the pictures. She had one of me finding out about the twins."
Annabeth smiled. "She had one of me having our baby."
I perked up. "Really?"
Annabeth nodded. "It's a boy. She said his name is going to be Percy Junior."
I laughed. "Oh gods. Wow. He's going to have all the girls with that name."
Annabeth laughed but then grew sad. "What is it?" I asked.
"It was one of her other ones." Annabeth said sadly. "It was during the war and," she let out a sob. "and it was of you two dead."
"What?" Ben asked.
Annabeth nodded. "I'm so sorry."
Allie sat next to her with her hand over her mouth sobbing. In that instant, the conch horn blew signaling the arrival of Luke's army. Allie's eyes went wide.
"Oh my gods, no." She was sobbing.
"We have to go." I said and started to stand up. "I love you both." They both nodded with Allie sobbing and Annabeth with tears in her eyes.
"Be careful, please." Allie begged.
Ben looked in her eyes. "I love you. You and Ashlyn and our unborn babies more than anything in this world. If something happens…" he dragged off and turned away. "Just remember that I love you."
Before the girls could respond, I cut off the Iris message. Anything else and we would have probably never left. In that spilt second I made a rash and fast decision.
"Hey, I think I have something that can help. Come with me." I told Ben.
We then ran over to a cave deep in the woods. I walked with Ben into the way back of the cave.
"What are we looking for?" He questioned.
"It's right through there, can you go get it?" I asked.
He nodded and went into the cell. Right when he was through I shut and locked the cell. He ran back and tried to open it.
"What the heck man?" He asked. "There's a battle going on. I need to be out there."
"No, you need to be in here. You need to be safe so you can go back to your wife, daughter, and your twins when they are born. They need you." I started to walk away.
"Hey," Ben screamed. I turned around and let him talk. "What about Annabeth and baby Percy? They need you too! Allie needs her big brother. Ashlyn needs her uncle!"
I shook my head. "No, I've had my battles. This will be my final one but not yours. Tell them all I love them so much."
And with that I walked outside with Ben banging on the door and screaming. I walked out into my final battle.
