Diversions
Weeks passed and repairs were complete. Richard released a city-wide memo that important people from Earth were coming to tour the city. All senior staff were charged with leading a tour group – a mixture of politicians, I.O.A. representatives, SGC personnel and civilians with security clearance.
When the representatives began to arrive, I went to the gym. I wasn't the only one with that idea, as countless soldiers used the equipment and training mats. It was equally as busy in the shooting range, so I instead fled to Janus' lab. That was thankfully empty, and I sat in front of one of the consoles and spun around in the chair. I had no idea how long the tours would run but reasoned it would take most of the day.
An hour after I'd arrived in the lab, I heard the familiar whirr of the door controls. Five people entered, and two familiar faces smiled at me.
"Hey, Molli!" Daniel and Samantha exclaimed.
"Hi, I didn't know you'd be here today."
"We wouldn't miss this for the world," an unfamiliar woman said. She stuck her hand out and smiled so wide that her face almost split in two. "Vala. Vala Mal Doran."
"Molli." I shook her hand. It was softer than I'd expected.
"So, you're the alien, huh?" one of the men said. He saluted. "Colonel Cameron Mitchell."
"I am Teal'c," the third person said. He had a strange tattoo on his forehead – golden and protruding, not inked like Venator tattoos.
"I was just showing them the lab," Daniel said. "How've you been?"
"Good. Yourself?"
"Yeah, really good! I'm all healed up and back to work." He turned to the others. "Guys, Molli here is a direct descendant of the Ancients."
"No way." Cameron tilted his head at me. "They all died out."
"Well… I'm the last one. The rest of my people are dead."
"Rough," Vala said.
Daniel moved onto showing his friends around the lab, describing the discoveries that had been made.
"I wonder what it would've been like here for an Ancient," Samantha mused.
"Way more obnoxious," Cameron said. "Still have yet to meet one that doesn't think humans are garbage."
"Hey, Oma-" Daniel began.
"I never met Oma." Cameron shrugged.
Once they were ready to leave, Samantha turned to me.
"Would you like to come with us?" she asked.
"Um, no, thanks. I'm happy staying here."
"Aw." Vala pouted. They left and I found myself missing the energy they'd brought. It was okay. I remained in the lab until Evan radioed me to ask about evening meal.
"All the dignitaries are gone," he said, "nothing to worry about."
I went to the Mess Hall, piled a tray full of food and joined Evan, Keith and Paul at a table.
"Guess what," Paul said, "Atlantis is staying on Earth for six months."
"Six?" I stared. "That's a long time."
"It'll go so quickly," Evan said. "Woolsey's approved leave on Sunday for anyone who wants to visit family."
"I can't wait to see Tenayah," Paul enthused. "We might even get married! You're all invited, by the way."
My heart ached as they moved onto wedding talk. In the ensuing months, what would happen to Solus?
o.O.o
Wandering the halls, I marvelled at how threadbare it felt. A dozen scientists had remained – some doctors and several soldiers to keep everything in order. Richard had remained too, just to do paperwork and direct dignitaries from other countries.
Everyone kept well away of the two Venator prisoners, which suited me just fine.
According to Rodney, they would go crazy from lack of food well before we returned to Pegasus unless they were fed. I wondered if Todd would agree to take the therapy again, if Solus proved that it worked.
It was early morning when I made my move. Midnight had passed and everyone was asleep, except for me. I snuck through the darkened corridors to the Brig, relying on my geographical knowledge to lead the way. I came across no one. His room was dark when I opened the door. The cell shields flashed blue.
"Hello, wife," Solus murmured. I swallowed.
"Most people are gone. I want you to share my bed."
"Gladly."
I deactivated the cell and Solus followed me through the endless expanse of corridors. Every shadow was a soldier and every corner hid an enemy. Paranoia burned through me and I didn't breathe until my bedroom door had shut behind us. The second it did, he pressed me against the wall and his lips were on mine.
We didn't speak. No words were needed. We feverishly stripped each other, unwilling to lose contact. Once naked, he pulled my legs around his waist, carried me to the bed and collapsed on top of me. The bed as much softer than his cell floor. His lips moved to my neck, kissing the sensitive parts there. My body burned. I'd never needed anything like I needed him. His hand moved down to my thigh and he wrapped it around his hips. His member rubbed teasingly against my entrance and I groaned. In one swift movement, he raised himself and entered me.
I had no idea how ready I was. He slid in easily and began rocking his hips against mine. I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him closer, and my fingernails scratched along his back in my desperation to be close to him. He slipped his other arm beneath me and our heartbeats moulded together. His breath was heavy in my ear and I felt ready to explode.
He pulled out suddenly and wriggled down my body. I barely had time to process what was happening when he pressed his face between my legs. I was glad that I had no neighbours, for I was able to cry as loud as I wanted as my husband pleasured me with his mouth and tongue. My peak came and I fisted my hand in his hair and arched my back. Then, still riding the pleasure from my release, I rolled him over, sheathed him completely within me and rocked above him until he gripped my hips so hard that he drew blood. Solus groaned and gasped, his eyes rolling into his head, and stilled beneath me.
I laid on him and rested my head on his chest, exhaling contentedly. He drew his arms around me and traced lazy circles on my back. I inhaled the strong scent of us, together again finally. I just wanted to stay there forever in this moment, just the two of us.
"Atlantis is staying on Earth for six months," I murmured. "I don't know what'll happen to you."
"I will volunteer to take the treatment." He kissed my hair. "If it works, we could be together freely."
"That's all I've ever wanted."
Outside, the sky gradually lightened, and I knew people would soon be waking. We untangled ourselves and got dressed before leaving my room. I never thought we would need to resort to sneaking around, especially since we were married, but here we were. I led the way, carefully looking left and right for any passer-by, but saw no one. We reached the Brig with no problem and I kissed Solus long and hard at the door.
"I love you," he whispered against my lips. I whimpered. I didn't want to let go.
Then he stepped into the cell and the shields rose around him. He rested his hand against the bars, his expression sad, and I rushed from the room so he wouldn't see me cry.
