Chapter 50: Saved

I was so nervous, but once I saw slave Link relax, I knew that it was alright for me to relax. Knight Link caught on quickly enough as well, so all three of us had relaxed before long. We didn't get or lose our composure, though. We knew that we had to be ready in case another officer came in. Therefore, none of us even spoke, although that really wasn't difficult because of how quiet we were on a regular basis.

I could've sworn, though, that we sat there for several hours (even though it was more likely just half an hours) before someone actually showed up. It was the very same officer that had been speaking to us a little while ago. Frankly, he looked rather stressed all of a sudden. My curiosity made me wonder what happened to him, but then he sighed as exasperatedly as I thought that he possibly could.

"Your master showed up… she wants you back… and she won't take no for an answer. Looks like you're getting your wish after all. Just… ugh, just follow me." Obviously, he was rather upset at the prospect of losing us. To be honest, I could see why. They finally found someone who was capable to taking down one of their most elusive criminals, and now they were leaving. I figured that it must have seemed like salt in the wound for there to be three of us, but I eventually decided that I had to largely ignore it, given the situation.

Once we rounded a corner that led us to Zelda, I almost smiled. However, I remembered to control my expressions around the officers, so I was able to stop myself. I could see why slave Link always had such a blank expression, even despite any situation. Once we got close to Zelda, she thanked the officers and led the three of us out of the building, not looking back even once.

As it turned out, she had brought the carriage over to the police station (of sorts) and she started having us load on almost immediately. In the corner of my eye, I noticed that she had gotten her purse back, so I knew that everything would be fine. Once we were all in the carriage, the door was closed, and we had started moving, we all heaved some of the heaviest sighs that I had ever heard. There was a lot of sighing that day, but this one was the most warranted of all in my opinion.

On our way back, we discussed exactly what had happened by the three of us telling our sides of the story first and then Zelda telling hers. Apparently, as soon as we had all ran off, she had gotten very concerned about us and quickly made her way back to where the carriage was. Upon arriving, she had told the hylian girl who was driving (her name was apparently 'Malon') to head take her down a certain street. Supposedly, it was then that she actually saw slave Link being loaded into a criminal's carriage and some officers running into an alleyway.

After that, she had redirected herself straight to the police station, but the one-person carriages that were driven by officers moved through the streets faster than her multi-person carriage that was driven by a hylian. Therefore, she hadn't arrived until well after our first interrogation… if it could really even be called that. Yet, once she did, she had to argue with the officers for a good, solid twenty minutes before they finally admitted that they had us. Apparently, they had really wanted to keep us! Once her story was finished, though, we found that we had finally just arrived back at her mansion, where it seemed as though there was someone in some sort of weird suit that had a hood, who just so happened to be waiting for her…
