A/N: So sorry I haven't updated! I've had computer problems for 6 months (as in no computer), and then I've just been out of ideas. But I was listening to my youtube list and this video just suddenly jumped out. I know Prussia is a bit OOC, but then again, it is a solemn piece...

I think I need help... lol Enjoy!

If I Die Young

Prussia was looking out across the river, Gilbird was flying around his master's head, feeling the solemn atmosphere. Prussia was in one of those where rare moods in which he would be thinking about the past. Usually it was on the anniversary of his abolishment. That's what he told everyone anyway, in all reality he was mourning the loss of his greatest ruler. He remembered Frederick, and the satin that he liked to wear. He wasn't gaudy, or haughty. He was just an understanding and smart ruler.

"Frederick, I hope you enjoyed the farewell that you were given." Prussia commented. "You were always the sentimental one, you had a knack for keeping me in check. There's a song that I think you would have liked."

At this point, Prussia began to sing a song that he had heard and thought that perhaps it fit. Not only with Frederick, but with what he felt when he began to lose his identity after Frederick passed.

If I die young, bury me in satin

Lay me down on a bed of roses

Sing me in a river at down

Send me away with the words of a love song.

Here Prussia hummed a few bars before continuing:

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother

She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh,

And life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no

Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

The sharp knife of a short, oh well

I've had just enough time

Prussia recalled that Frederick did feel safe under his banner, and even ruled a portion of Europe during his time. He had to smile though, it was a female person in the song, but he felt that he fit that description. Sure Frederick wasn't baby, I mean he was a guy! However, he was a child of Prussia and that hurt more when he had to bury the one ruler who had made him great.

If I die young, bury me in satin

Lay me down on a bed of roses

Sing me in a river at down

Send me away with the words of a love song.

And I'll be wearing white, when I come into your kingdom

I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger,

I've never known the lovin' of a man

But it sure felt nice when he was holdin' my hand,

There's a boy here in town, says he'll love me forever,

Who would have thought forever could be severed by...

Prussia knew that the love here was different than the love that he had for Frederick. Frederick was his child, and he loved him like a father, like the brotherly love he had for Germany. The sharp reality of the literal meaning of the next sentence finally hit.

...the sharp knife of a short life, oh well?

I've had just enough time

So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls

What I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts, oh, no, I'll sell 'em for a dollar

They're worth so much more after I'm a goner

And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'

Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'

Prussia knew that Frederick gave him so much advice and left so much knowledge, but he never really appreciated it until after Frederick died.

If I die young, bury me in satin

Lay me down on a bed of roses

Sink me in the river at dawn

Send me away with the words of a love song

Prussia stopped the song right there, feeling tears start to show in his eyes. He knelt and felt Gilbird land on his head, reaching out with his wings and tried to cover Prussia. Prussia was touched, and he grabbed Gilbird and looked at him. It was the one thing, other than himself, that was left of Prussia. He remembered having a giant black bird as his symbol, but this little yellow fuzball showed up instead of his pretty black bird after 1947. Prussia figured that Frederick was still looking down on him, even in death. Gilbird was old as him, and it gave him hope, that one day he would be a country again.
