Birthday Surprises

This story is dedicated to sherlolly29 on Tumblr. Go and check her blog, I really love her fantastic Sherlolly art. She's the one who designed my new cover.

"I wanna do it!"

"I asked first."

"Shh."

Lizzy and Frederic Holmes quickly got quiet. They looked up at their father, waiting for his instructions. Frederic shuffled closer to Lizzy and she glanced at him. Sherlock watched in amusement. Lizzy, being the older, stood tall with her arms crossed. She looked almost exactly like her mother in that stance. Frederic also had his arms cross but he was more relaxed.

"I know you both want to help, but you can't both take the tray. I'll carry it."

Lizzy and Frederic began to protest, but Sherlock interrupted them.

"Lizzy, you'll carry the vase of flowers and Frederic, you the presents. Does that sounds fair?"

Both nodded, going to grab their tasks. Sherlock smiled as they walked off, grabbing the tray.

It was Molly's birthday and despite his wife's protest against it, breakfast in bed was organized. Sherlock had picked up her favorite flowers (at Lizzy's request) and each child had made cards and small gifts.

Frederic and Lizzy leave the kitchen, each smiling. Sherlock smiled at them, stifling a laugh as Frederic yawned. He jerked his head and both children followed him to Molly's and his bedroom. Lizzy went ahead of her father, as she had a free hand to open the door. Sherlock could hear his wife object already and started to plan the perfect speech. Although, he was sure any puppy dog eyes from him and their kids and Molly give up.

"Happy Birthday Mummy!" Lizzy said as she opened the door and walked in. Frederic went after her and Sherlock followed slowly.

"Aaww how sweet, breakfast, flowers and presents." Molly smiled at them.

Frederic laughed, climbing up onto the bed so he could be closer to his mother, handing her the cards and gifts.

"C'mere honey," Molly said, wrapping an arm around him and moving them both to the center of the bed. Lizzy crawled up on the other side, snuggling into her mother's side.

"Thanks my two little bees," Molly smiled at both children.

She looked up at Sherlock, glaring at him. He smirked, walking over and placing the tray over her lap. He sat down near her legs, touching gently her knee through the blankets.

"You know these two," he began, "they were as stubborn as could be and wouldn't give up on making you breakfast."

"Mmhh, wonder where they got that from," Molly teases him.

Molly picked up the fork on the tray and looked at her breakfast. It consisted of pancakes with the topping in the shape of a heart, and tea. She smiled as she stuck her finger in the whip cream and ate some.

"Mummy! You're supposed to eat it all together. Now the heart is messed up." Frederic said, obviously distraught that his masterpiece was ruined. Molly smiled at him, offering him some whip cream. Frederic, with the new proposition of whip cream, forgot about his fuss. Before Lizzy could fuss, Molly offered her some as well. Sherlock smiled at his family, watching as they licked the sugary substance off their fingers.

Molly stuck her finger another time in the whip cream, offering it to Sherlock. Slowly he licked the cream off his wife's finger.

"Ew!" Lizzy and Frederic said simultaneously.

Sherlock chuckled, watching as Molly smirked and started to cut her pancakes. Lizzy fell back against the pillows, her yawning becoming more frequent. Frederic was watching his mother, leaning his head against her arm. Molly gently smiled down at him, kissing his hair.

"Good Mummy?" he asked sleepily, his eyes starting to close.

"It's delicious," she said, taking another bite of food. She took a sip from the tea, leaning back against the pillows.

A warm feeling spread from Sherlock's fingers to toes. Another smile forced it's way onto his face as he watched his children and wife lay in bed. Lizzy was curled up in a ball on the pillows, and Frederic was right next to Molly. Sherlock reached up and squeezed softly her leg. Molly looked at him.

"Yes?" she said with a mischievously glint in her eyes.

"Nothing."

She's offering him some of her pancakes and he took a bite of food. After finish eating, Sherlock took the tray, putting it on the chest at the end of the bed. He handed Molly the cards and presents, and she grinned shyly.

She opened each card slowly, smiling at the wobbly written sentences. She traced her fingers over the small scene that Frederic had drawn, flowers, a sun and small skulls filling the page.

Yes, he definitely is his father's son, she thought and chuckled.

She placed the cards on her nightstand, opening the card Sherlock had gotten her. He watched as she blushed reading it.

"Thanks." Molly said, leaning forward. Sherlock met her halfway and kissed her.

"Only the best for you." Sherlock said, making Molly blush.

She hit his arm. leaning back against the pillows, wrapping her arms around both children and Sherlock moved the blanket up to cover them.

He crawled up the bed, kissing his children's forehead. He then kissed Molly, touching her cheek softly.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Sherlock."

Sherlock laid out at the end of the bed. He listened as his family fell back asleep, as it was still early. He felt the bed move, and he turned his head towards the movement. Molly was looking at him.

"How would you feel about a third child curled up in this bed?"

Sherlock sat up straight, as did Lizzy and Frederic (both suddenly awake).

"We're going to have a baby?" All three said at the same time, and Molly smiled. She watched as Sherlock smiled brightly, and he moved up to kiss his wife. Lizzy and Frederic cheered, and Molly absorbed the moment.

It was probably the best birthday she'd ever had.
