Chapter 53: One Wild Ride
A/N: So here's the next chapter. This one will take place after "Race with the Demon" which I thought was actually a pretty awesome episode. Demon Donnie was freaky, and I loved Rob's voice work in this one as he knocked it out of the park. My favorite part was when Leo took out the car though. That was epic! Thanks to those who have read and reviewed thus far. This will probably be the last chapter for now until the show comes back if it doesn't come back after Thanksgiving. I might do a filler chapter if I can think of something, but if not, then this story will be going on hiatus for now.
Disclaimer: TMNT belongs to Nickelodeon. I only own the plot.
As a guy, you would think I'd be the type to like cars and everything that goes with them, but I'm not that type of guy. I just don't get interested in cars that much like Casey does. I tend to tune out whenever he goes on and on about a car he saw and the parts and whatever else. Yeah, I'm weird, but what do you expect from a pizza delivery kid who hangs out with mutant turtles?
This adventure all started when Casey, Donnie, and April went to get groceries. The rest of us were watching TV when they came back. April was upset because Casey had decided to go after this car that forced him off of the road. Then our show was interrupted by a news report about a crazy driver on the road. Casey wanted to teach him a lesson, but April said it wasn't worth it, and I agreed with her.
"There's no sense in you going off and getting killed, Casey," I said. "Just let it go."
But Casey wouldn't listen and even went after him again while doing a test run for a car he'd found in the barn. I wasn't there for it as I was training with Leo, but after they got back, it was revealed that Casey had gone after the guy again. Casey and Donnie made some adjustments to the car, and they decided to try again. I wanted to go with them, but Uncle Gino was against it and told me to stay home.
"There's no way I'm lettin' you get killed, Tony," he chastised.
"But I'll be with the guys!" I protested. "I won't get hurt."
Uncle Gino didn't budge, so I waved goodbye to the guys and joined Abby for some tea. After they came back they told me how the car was the mutant and how it had mutated Donnie after it ate him. Casey saved the day and realized how reckless he was being. Then Leo took the car out by knocking it off the cliff, which he was still gloating about.
Uncle Gino glared at them. "You kids are lucky you didn't get killed," he chastised. "I hope you won't pull any more stunts like this in the future. There's just no room for stuff like that, you hear me, Casey?"
"Yes, Mr. Salini," he replied. "It won't happen again."
"Make sure it doesn't." Then Uncle Gino went to his room, muttering about kids being stupid these days. I have to admit, it made me smile to see Uncle Gino in this type of mood as he really hadn't been like this since we left New York. Donnie went to take a nap while April and Mikey went to feed the chickens and everyone else sat to watch some TV. Casey wanted to talk to me, so I went outside to see what he wanted.
"So what's the story, Jones?" I asked him.
"I guess I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for bein' an idiot. I just got so caught up in the moment and I just couldn't stop."
"I forgive you for that, Casey. I'm used to stuff like that from you."
"Yeah, but I also realize how big of a jerk I've been with Donnie. I know he likes April, but I do, too, and it's hard for me to think of someone else liking her in that way."
"Is it because Donnie's a mutant and you're a human?" I asked him.
"I don't think that's it. I think it's because I'm jealous because Donnie's so much smarter than me, and I'm just a dumb kid who screws up all of the time. Based on my behavior today, I wouldn't be surprised if April did choose Donnie over me. He seems to have it together better than I do."
"True, but you have a good heart, and it shows. I'm proud that you put your rivalry with Donnie aside and decided to work together. You're better as friends than enemies, especially with all that's happened to us lately. I think you just need to realize that April's going to have to choose, and if she chooses you, Donnie's going to have to accept it and vice versa. I already had this conversation with him, and he seems to get it. I figured you needed to hear it from me, too."
"Yeah, you definitely have a point there, Tony. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and learn to get along with him. But he's not so bad for a mutant. He's actually pretty cool, and I had a lot of fun workin' on the car with him."
"And that's all you need, Casey. Just learn to bond with him and you won't hate him so much."
"I don't hate him, and I think we can be good friends. Thanks for the advice, Tony. I really appreciate it."
"No problem, Jones. Just try to follow it, okay?"
"I will."
We bumped fists and went back to the house. I could tell Casey was feeling better about Donnie and that maybe this rivalry was going to be put to an end at last. I was honestly getting tired of their bickering, and now I could tell it was over, which made me relieved. Now we could get some peace and quiet without any more fighting. We watched TV and even played the alphabet insult game Donnie and Casey had come up with. Things seemed to be back to normal, and I just hoped that we would get a break from all the crazy stuff so we could relax and have a bit of a vacation.
A/N: That's all I could come up with for this chapter. I know it's a little short, but my head's hurting, and I think I need to just stop here for now. Feel free to leave a review and have a shelltastic day.
