Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight.
The walk home was dark and mildly frightening considering I had a ghost at my side on the walk home.
Edward's constant ramblings about being followed when there was no one behind us was unsettling even though I had told him to shut up countless times.
"Who is following me?" I finally demanded as came to abrupt stop on the dark sidewalk we were walking down only to have Edward drag me into the shadows.
"Have you lost your damn mind?" He hissed at me as he pushed me into the bushes we were walking by. "I swear to god it's like you are begging to get hurt."
"You worry too much," I muttered as he pulled me tight against him while shushing me like anyone was around, except he was right. There was someone there. A car had pulled up the curb we had been standing on. I couldn't see it, but I could hear the soft hum of the engine.
"I told you," Edward whispered softly against my cheek as I pressed back against him, hiding further in the shadows so I would be out sight to whoever was out there.
We waited for a moment when the lights and rumbling of another car came into sight followed by the slamming of a car door.
"Is there a problem?"
Emmett Cullen.
His voice was low and menacing as he approached the car closest to me.
"I knew he wouldn't let me down," Edward breathed out in what sounded like sweet relief as I felt his body relax against mine while pulling me against him a little tighter.
We remained hidden until the one car drove away leaving Edward's brother standing out in the street.
"Come out," Emmett called out to me with an agitated sigh as he stood in front of his car. The headlight shined bright around him as he watched the strange car pass instead of looking at me as I emerged from the bushes.
"You want that ride home now?" he asked me with a sardonic grin while turning to face me once more.
"Who was that?" I asked as Edward pushed me forward.
"Some kid," Emmett explained while motioning for me to get in the car.
The car was quick and awkward since I was close to home when Edward had pushed me into the bushes.
"Listen kid," Emmett sighed as he pulled up in front of my house. "I want to believe you. I really do."
"Why don't you?" I asked as I turned to face the aging man at my side while his brother watched our exchange.
"Because if I do then it means…" he began slowly as if even hinting at the words that he refused to speak was painful.
"He has been here waiting for something or someone," I explained I felt Edward's hand slip along my shoulder.
"I've been waiting for you," Edward corrected me as I smiled at his ridiculousness.
"Tell me one thing," Emmett asked as I waited for this one thing that he needed to hear to make him be a part of this mess I was making.
"Do you really think you can solve this murder?" he asked me with a curious tone that hinted at how badly he wanted this. He needed this. I could feel the desperation rolling off of him in waves even though he was trying to play it cool.
"Yes," I told him with all the confidence that he needed to hear to agree to join me on this wild goose chase to find Edward's killer.

Thanks for reading!
Guess what? After taking down 33 stories that violated the sexually explicit rating system I am able to keep this story on Fanfic. net. So for The Lost all is good until I violate that rule. I wasn't going to, but now? What the hell : )
So with that in mind this story will remain on ff. net as well as Fiction Pad & The Writers Coffee Shop.
Thanks for all the love and I hope you appreciate my love right back at you in the form of this small update.
XOXO
