Morgenstern and Herondale

The front door slammed loudly behind Jocelyn.

I jumped slightly on the seat, my heart throbbing crazily. Thoughts and possibilities were whizzing around in my head. I mean—it was completely impossible. Stupidly impossible. So impossible I felt stupid for even considering it. Pregnant? After more than twelve hours? Not possible.

I heard Jace enter the room. "That no-good, demonic…" he growled, then paused, noticing my bewildered, now pale face. "What's wrong?" Jace walked towards me and crouched, looking into my face. "Clary?"

I shook my head, ridding the crazy thoughts. "Nothing."

Jace raised an eyebrow. "It's something, so tell me."

"Jonathan just said some stupid things," I sighed, shrugging slightly.

Jace frowned. "Like…?"

I rolled my eyes, cheeks flaming. "It's nothing, he was just making it up."

Jace stood up from his crouch, his joints clicking in protest. Jace crossed his rune-swirled arms and looked down at me with a burning gold glare. "Tell me, now."

I paled immediately, knowing he'll overreact. I chewed my lip nervously, stammering, "Well, he talked about me being pregnant. That he could apparently smell the baby." I laughed, anxious. "He's just making it up." Jace paled a considerable amount, suddenly bundling a fist in his hair. I gulped. "Jace, he was just making it up. It's impossible anyway."

Jace shook his head, looking practically like a ghost. He began pacing, causing my heart to contract violently. "Not impossible, no. Jonathan has demonic senses." My eyebrows pulled together slightly. "In fact, he has greater demonic senses. Meaning they are more powerful. Sensitive." Jace squeezed his eyes shut tightly, quiet for a few minutes. "Right, I'm going to call the silent brothers."

Jace ran from the living room. I bundled my hands in my hair tightly, groaned out loud and collapsed sideways, lying on the sofa limply. He's overreacting. BIG time.

Jace came back into the room. I sat up abruptly, frowning. "You're overreacting, Jace!" He began pacing. "Quit pacing!" I snapped. "Why is a silent brother coming? This is so stupid."

"I need to make sure," he hissed. "We need to make sure!"

"Jaceeee," I hissed back. "It was only last night!"

He rolled his eyes. "Don't you think I know that?" My cheeks flamed and Jace suddenly smirked, sinking beside me on the sofa and wrapping his arms around my waist. "It's alright, we just need to double check to see if anything is wrong."

"What would be wrong?" I huffed, leaning my head against his chest.

Jace laughed. "We're only double-checking, Clary. Nothing to panic about."

But, of course, I was panicking.
