"Hey, Dani!" Dani's hair stylist greeted as Dani and Santana walked into the salon. Dani really liked her stylist, she liked to talk when she was doing Dani's hair, and she loved to hear about what was going on with Dani, too.
"Hey, Tamara," Dani returned with a smile. "This is my girlfriend, Santana."
"Oh, Santana, nice to meet you," Tamara said to the Latina. "I heard all about you last time Dani was here. She just couldn't stop talking about you."
Santana blushed at that, and Dani grinned. "Oh, well, nice to meet you, too."
"So, what are we doing today? Fixing the blond?" Tamara asked.
"Nope. I'm looking to go in a totally different direction. I want to do blue," Dani told the stylist.
Tamara raised an eyebrow. "Blue, huh? Daring. I think you'll pull it off great. So just color, no cut?"
"Just a trim," Dani replied.
Tamara gave the blonde a price, which Dani paid up front, and then led her to the back to wash her hair. After that, she sat her down in a chair across from a mirror. Santana sat down in the one next to it and watched as Tamara began to transform Dani's hair.
Dani loved getting her hair done. Some people hated other people messing with their hair, but she actually liked the feeling.
"So, why blue?" Tamara questioned.
"I don't know, I just want to be sort of spontaneous. I'm coming out with an album in a few months, so I want to do something to sort of make it pop more? I don't know, I'm just really feeling the blue color," Dani answered.
Tamara pulled out the different blues that they had, and Dani picked one that wasn't too dark, but wasn't too light. Santana agreed that it was the best.
"How long have you two been together?" Tamara wondered, smiling at Santana.
"Eight months," the Latina answered with a wide smile.
"Wow, nice," Tamara commented. "She must be a keeper then, Dani?"
Dani grinned. "Definitely."
"Well last time I saw you and this time, you're definitely a lot happier than when you first saw me in early April. You told me that the hair coloring was the most exciting thing you'd done since getting to New York, which is kind of sad," Tamara remembered. Dani laughed as Tamara began to apply the dye to Dani's hair.
Tamara began to talk about her life with her boyfriend as she dyed the hair. When it was done, she took a quick trim. Dani's hair looked rather dark, since it was still wet, but Tamara blew it dry after the trim, and it shifted to its now normal color.
Dani gasped. It was beautiful. It looked perfect against her not too fair skin tone. "Tamara, this is amazing."
"Well, you're the one pulling it off," Tamara reminded the blue-haired girl. "Most girls that come in here asking for that color walk out looking like an ugly smurf."
Dani laughed heartily at that. She was thrilled with this hair color. "Glad you don't think I look like a smurf."
Santana piped up, "It's like you were born to have blue hair. Seriously, it is like the perfect color for you."
Dani gave her girlfriend a sweet smile. "Thanks," she said, biting back a wide grin. "I think this was a really good idea."
"Agreed!" Santana exclaimed with a wide smile.
"You look gorgeous, Dani," Tamara commented, brushing out her hair one last time. "Blue is definitely your color."
Dani stood from the chair and smiled at Tamara. "Thanks so much, this looks freaking awesome."
Tamara shrugged. "What can I say? I'm an artist." She chuckled. "See you next time, Dani!"
Dani and Santana headed for the exit. "See you, Tamara!"
Dani grabbed her girlfriend's hand as they exited the salon. "Seriously, babe, your hair is beautiful. And hot. And sexy. It kind of turns me on."
The now blue-haired girl looked at her girlfriend and wiggled her eyebrows. "Does it now?" She leaned in and gave Santana a firm kiss on the lips, but broke away just a few seconds later to get in the car. Santana was pouting, but joined her in the car.
Since they hadn't told Kurt, Blaine or Rachel that Dani was dying her hair, they decided to drop by their place and surprise them with it. Dani couldn't wait to see their reaction. Hopefully, it would be good.
Dani parked the car and they got out and headed up the stairs to the apartment. Dani grinned at her girlfriend. "What do you think they'll say?"
"Well, Kurt will probably start by freaking out over why didn't you tell him or something, and Rachel will probably just stare at you with her mouth open for like five minutes before she tells you that she likes it," Santana guessed with a laugh. "Blaine will probably just say it looks great right away. He's not as crazy as the Olsen Twins."
Dani bit her lip, feeling a little nervous. She hoped that Rachel and Kurt liked it, since they were pretty much her best friends. She found herself standing in front of their door and knocked timidly.
"Get the door!" Rachel yelled from inside the apartment.
"You get it!" Kurt yelled back.
"I'm moisturizing!" Rachel argued.
"In the middle of the day?"
"Just open the door, Kurt!" Rachel growled.
"Blaine, open the door!" Kurt exclaimed.
Dani let out a light laugh. "Well they haven't changed at all."
"So this is what the three of us sounded like all those times you randomly popped by?" Santana asked, chuckling.
"Yes," Dani answered with a laugh.
Blaine opened the door, and his jaw dropped. "Wow, your hair is blue."
Dani grinned. "Do you like it?"
"On most people, the color would look horrible, but it actually looks good on you," he answered, after a moment of hesitation.
"Thanks," Dani replied, smiling still.
"Come on in," he said, stepping back. Santana and Dani entered the apartment, and Rachel came out of the bathroom.
"Did someone say that someone's hair is blue?" she asked, thoroughly confused, until her eyes caught on Dani's hair. "Holy shit your hair is blue."
"Blue hair?" Kurt asked, jumping out of his and Blaine's part of the apartment.
"Do you guys like it?" Dani asked.
"What! You dyed your hair! How did you not tell me you were going to do this? I am obviously the most stylish person in our friend group, and therefore you need to tell me all future decisions like this, okay?" Kurt ranted. Dani met Santana's eyes and they laughed simultaneously.
"Whatever you say, Kurt," Dani returned. "But do you like it?"
"Like it? I love it! It looks so... you," he tried to explain.
"Isn't it like she was born to have blue hair?"
"Yes!" Rachel exclaimed. "It's gorgeous, Dani! I would never be able to pull that color off."
Dani smiled, running her fingers through her soft hair. "I'm really glad you guys like it, at first I was worried that you would think it looked horrible."
"It definitely doesn't look horrible," Kurt promised. "Although, it was unexpected and surprising."
"Did you show anyone else yet?" Rachel asked. "Like... your family for example?"
Dani shrugged. "Not yet, I just got it done. I guess I'll send them a picture so next time they see me they don't flip out. It shouldn't mess up the loose connection we have now, since they're trying to accept the fact that I've changed."
"Are you two hungry?" Kurt asked, moving into the kitchen. "I was about to make sandwiches."
"Oh, sure," Santana said with a smile. "Thanks."
They sat down at the table while Kurt started to make sandwiches. Blaine and Rachel joined them as Dani was taking a selfie of herself. She sent it to her mom, dad, and Riley, followed by Quinn, Mercedes and even Brittany.
She got a text back from Mercedes immediately.
From Mercedes- Gorgeous!
Then Quinn.
From Quinn- Wow! That's amazing! Looks great!
Then Riley.
From Riley- Oh my gosh, that looks awesome, Dani! Why didn't you tell me you were going to dye it? It looks even better than the blond did. I've always wanted to dye my hair red, but I don't think mom and dad would be too happy about it.
To Riley- Wait until you're eighteen, and then they can't stop you. ;) Glad you like it! Love you sis!
Dani looked up to see that everyone else was making small talk about work and about Christmas, but she realized that Kurt, Rachel and Blaine were deliberately avoiding the topic of New Years. Dani was glad about that, because if they got on that topic, Rachel would probably end up getting so excited that she would ruin the proposal plan.
And then Santana had to ask, "What are you guys doing for New Years Eve?"
"Um, we're going to go to Times Square and watch the ball drop, I think," Blaine answered for the three of them. Santana looked at Dani pointedly.
"See, they're gong to the ball drop," she told her.
Dani shrugged. "You already agreed to go to the diner with me. No more ifs, ands or butts!"
Santana crossed her arms. "Fine." She didn't sound too disappointed though, and Dani knew that she wasn't. The fact that they were going to be together on New Years Eve was perfect enough. But Santana had no idea what was she was in for.
The next day, Monday, in the afternoon, Dani told Santana that she had to run to the studio for something important and that she would be back in an hour. She would be back in an hour, but she didn't have to go into the studio. She was going to the diner with Rachel to talk to Gunther about the New Years Eve thing. They didn't know if the diner would even be open.
"Oh hello, ladies. What are you two doing here?" Gunther asked as he saw them approaching him.
"Um, is the diner going to be open on New Years Eve?" Dani asked nervously.
"It's open until eleven," he answered. Dani cursed under her breath. "Why? You don't work then anyway."
"Dani wanted to propose to Santana here. We thought that the TV could be playing the live ball drop and Dani could drop down on one knee and propose. It would be awesome," Rachel explained, trying to convince the man.
"Santana and I could get here at eleven, when you're supposed to close up, and you can give me the key and I'll close when we leave," Dani practically begged. She probably could have asked earlier to avoid this kind of problem, because she didn't have time to make any other plans now.
"I'm sorry, but I'd have to have another employee here, if you were going to eat something. And I can't just call one of them up to stay an extra hour, on New Years Eve," Gunther apologized.
Dani bit her lip. This was going to spoil her plans. "I could take that shift," Rachel said quickly.
"No, Rach, you don't have to—"
"No, seriously. Kurt and Blaine can go to the ball drop by themselves. I'd much rather be here serving you and Santana and giving you your moment to shine. Plus, I'd get to watch the proposal," Rachel pointed out with a smile.
Dani smiled. "You'd do that for me?"
"Of course. It's not like I'll have much to do. I'll just have to bring you food and then charge you," Rachel added with a shrug. "It'll be a piece of cake."
"Well then it looks like you've got yourself a deal. Rachel, you'll have to get here at ten-thirty, and then Dani, you and Santana can get here at eleven. Rachel will have the key to lock up," Gunther told them.
"Thank you so much!" Dani exclaimed with a wide smile.
"Under one condition," Gunther added suddenly. Dani's smile faded as she looked at him impatiently. "I want an invite to the wedding."
The smile on Dani's face reappeared. "Deal!"
I can feel your excitement building for the proposal.
Lol jk but I hope you're excited.

Remember, 500th reviewer gets a shoutout. Before I say what I'm about to say, please remember that I don't update faster with more reviews, or slower with less reviews. However, I have noticed a decline in reviews... which is a little sad. I mean, I did get a ton of reviews from you guys on NLMG, but the next few chapters are kind of loose because I had to get a better grip on this story, so it would be really helpful to have feedback from you guys. And of course, those of you who send me PMs or Twitter messages or reviews, thank you so much :) I appreciate every single one of them :)
