The days when teachers just torture you with homework…not cool.
To my reviewers, followers and favoriters:
Ays: Hikari kissed back! Now what would Kenya say?
ChocoxxPochii: Ah! Thank you for picking up the incorrect word! I can always trust you on keeping an eye out for my horrible grammar and spelling!
Snowpoppy: If I were Hikari, I'd probably kick Shu in the crotch and run away as well. And yes! Kura and Kaga are back again :D

Chapter 52: Uncertainty
(Hikari's POV)
The kiss deepened as a cool breeze rustled through the park. Strands of my vermillion hair came loose and drifted against the wind, making the scene almost romantic and believable. Shu, who had sneaked a hand around the back of my head, hustled me up until my lips were fully pressed to his. Completely overwhelmed by the kiss, I nearly gave myself in- but nevertheless still felt a wave of despair.
"Hikari." He whispered my name
Somewhat lost in the voice, I closed my eyes as a tingle of warmth washed off all my doubts and worries. Feeling like I was floating in heaven, I momentarily released a short sigh before Shu's lips were once again molded perfectly against mine.
"S-Sh-"
He pressed a finger against my lips, "Don't speak, Hikari," he ushered in a mellow tone, "Just relax."
An unnatural sense of warmth was starting to develop deep inside my heart. Mixed within the passion of Kenya-kun's love, a fog of darkness was slowly beginning to take over. Brain screaming and yelling at the top of its lungs that this was betrayal to Kenya-kun, I attempted to fight the voice- but undoubtly failed as my arms flung and slapped someone across the cheek.
"No!" I cried, pushing a strong body away from me.
Shocked by the element of surprise, Shu slowly turned his head around and stared at me with wide eyes. Left cheek red and painted with my handprint, I blinked and numbly covered a hand over my mouth after realizing what just happened.
"S-sor-"
Carefully recovering from the slap and straightening his posture, Shu bore his sharp eyes onto my face. Somewhat feeling a sense of danger, I took a gentle step back as Shu leant closer towards me.
"Hikari," he ushered, lifting up his hands, "Why did-"
Before Shu could finish his sentence- I was already beginning to lure myself into a getaway jog. Reaching for my hands, Shu shot his arms forward and was prepared to take hold of me. Aware of his sudden movement, I jumped as Shu's ghostly fingertips grazed my right hand.
"Don't touch me!" I shouted in horror before reflexing.
Jotting my hand back before turning around and pushing my legs into a sprint. As I did, the emerald ring Kenya-kun gave me accidently slipped off my ring finger and a small clink was heard as the jewel bounced onto the ground. Glancing back after noticing the missing valuable, I paused in my steps and watched anxiously as Shu retrieved the fallen ring.

(Back to normal POV)
The following morning bursted with overly radiant sunlight and a cloudless blue sky. With such perfect weather and joyous atmosphere- nothing could possibly go wrong on such a promising day for the Kansai Semifinals. Arriving nice and early at the national stadium, the team was instantly greeted by eager Shitenhoji fans and continuously cheered on with popularity.
"Chitose-kun!" A rabid swoon of fan girls cried for Shitenhoji's giraffe as the team strolled towards the stadium doors.
Glancing towards Chitose who merely shot a small wave to his support team, I raised a brow as an echo was squeals were heard in response. Turning back around, I stared at the glass doors that seemed so far away.
"Isn't this exciting?" Yuuji who stepped back to walk with me, gasped with dazzling eyes, "Kansai Semifinals!"
I felt a sigh escape my lips, "I'm honestly not too fussed," I mumbled
Yuuji flashed me a shocked look, "You seem a little in the Zaizen Attitude today," he remarked, waving a thumb back to where the genius brat trotted with Gin, "What's getting you so moody?"
Grumbling, I shrugged, "Tired I guess," I replied, "Try staying up with an over obsessive bible of tennis."
"Kenya, I heard that," Shiraishi's voice was instantly pounded against my eardrums.
Scowling as the bible of tennis eyed me from the corner of his hazel orbs, I sulked as we finally arrived at the stadium entrance. Automatic glass doors sliding open, the team all strolled in before being greeted by a familiar face.
"Morning everyone," a gorgeous smile, "Ready for the semifinals?"
"Hikari-chan!" Koharu who was one of the first to react, immediately had his arms encircled around the poor girl.
Yuuji was the next to join in, "You look extra pretty today, Hikari-chan!" he exclaimed before lowering his voice down into a slight whisper, "Are you going on a date with Kenya?"
Watching horrifically as Yuuji and Koharu practically swarm around Hikari like lost puppies, I rolled my eyes as the hyperactive Kintaro also joined in. Amused by his teammate's behavior, the bible of tennis coughed in order to regain the team's attention.

"Hikari."
Seemingly unaware of my call to her name, the girl with beautiful wavy hair merely ignored me. Instead turning her attention onto Yuuji and Chitose, Hikari happily made conversation with the two. Feeling my brows dive down with concern- I took a gradual step forward.
"Hik-"
The bible of tennis made a sudden interruption, "Alright," he declared from the front of the group, "We're going on court."
Cursing Shiraishi for the timed announcement, a frustrated sigh escaped my mouth. Preparing to head on court, I reluctantly bent down and fished up my overly heavy tennis bag. As I did, Hikari who sent her best wishes to the team- carefully made a turn and headed towards the hallway exit.
"Hikari," I quickly made a grab for Hikari before she disappeared.
Catching the girl by her elbow, Hikari jotted at my touch, "K-Kenya-kun?" she muttered confusingly.
Seeing her beautiful sapphire orbs, I instantly felt my eyes soften, "Are you alright today?" I questioned, "You seem to be ignoring me."
Hikari lowered her head, "I'm fine," she replied before spinning away, "Good luck with your match today, Kenya-kun."
With that being said, Hikari emerged from the dimly lit hallway and disappeared from my sight. Somewhat confused by her words and actions, I merely found myself staring at the lonely hallway with concern.
As my head spun and my body tingled with anxiety, I couldn't help but to feel my heart plunging into an unknown feeling. And I really didn't like this feeling.
