A/N: For a long time, I was contemplating marking this story as complete, as it really could have been. When I started this story, I was using Fictionista Witfit prompts as inspiration for each chapter, and sadly, they no longer exist. But these last two things I am posting were written back when they were still in existence, but I hadn't thought they were necessary. They aren't much, but just a little glimpse past the birth.

Bella had held back the onslaught of tears following Alexander's birth, only allowing a few to fall along with Edward's. Yet, the moment she finally got him to leave the room for more than a few seconds, after sending him to the cafeteria for a chocolate milkshake she was craving, they sprung free.
It was the farthest from sad she had ever felt, but she knew that even the soft sobs escaping her just then would cause her husband to worry needlessly. She gazed down at the sleeping infant lying in her arms and pressed her lips to his forehead. The look on Edward's face the moment the doctor announced that she had delivered a healthy son was enough to bring tears to her eyes on the spot. She honestly believed that he had hoped for a little girl, as he'd even hinted as much in the weeks leading up to the birth. More than once, she had seen him on his laptop at night, browsing through sites with Disney princesses, and his eyes glancing toward little pink frilly socks when they had gone shopping for some last-minute things the week before.
However, the instant his gaze fell on the wailing baby boy resting on her stomach, she could only describe his expression as one of complete awe. When he finally looked at her again, his eyes were full of tears as he leaned in to kiss her forehead, and whispered against her skin, "We have a son."
Once they were finally alone in the room, Bella began to drift off to sleep while Edward sat in the chair beside her bed, holding their little boy in his arms. Before she felt the final tug into slumber, she heard her husband choke on a sob and opened her eyes as much as she could manage in her exhaustion. Thin, wet trails were streaming down his face as he pressed his lips against the tiny hand encircling the tip of his finger, while cradling their son to his chest.
Hours later, when she woke again, she found him in the same position, only with his eyes closed. If it wasn't for the movement of his thumb over the knuckles of Alexander's clenched fist, she would have thought he was asleep. She reached over to lightly tap his shoulder and watched his eyes flicker for a moment behind his lids before finally opening. He gave her a tired smile and brought one hand up to take hers, lifting it to his lips and pressing a soft kiss to her skin. As much as she tried to convince him to go home and get some sleep while he could, he refused to budge. It was as if he couldn't bear to be parted from her or their son for a moment…until the doctor came in and announced they were ready to take Alexander for his circumcision.
Then he was finding any excuse he could to get out of that room without being a complete ass.
