20 Years Later:
Kiri, Kotori, Tsuyoi and Mizuki were casually walking down the street to school on a Friday morning. They wanted the school day to end quickly as they'd being hanging out all weekend.
"WWWAIIIIIITT FOR ME- OW!"
The four turned around to see a boy with spiky hair face down on the street. Tsuyoi ran over and helped him up, "you okay, Natsu?"
"Y-yeah… thanks," Natsu gained some balance and brushed himself off. He picked up his bag and rubbed the back of his neck, "sorry I'm late. I slept in."
Kotori smirked, "aren't you always?"
"Hey!"
Mizuki turned to the three boys and frowned, "we should hurry up or we'll be late for school."
"Yeah Natsu hurry uuuup!" Kiri complained as the quintet continued walking to Namimori Elementary.
…
The school bell chimed as Tsuyoi quickly opened the classroom door of 4A. "We just made it!" he cheered. "C'mon guys let's quickly sit down!" He began rushing over to his desk.
Mizuki followed, "Yeah, yeah just so you can sleep in class again."
Tsuyoi took his seat, "I don't sleep in class," he poked his tongue at Mizuki.
"Okay, okay," Natsu said, "but Tsuyoi you should probably stop sleeping in class anyway."
"I already said I don't sleep in cla-" and Tsuyoi fell asleep on his seat.
The door slid open again as their teacher walked in. "Everybody settle down a-" she stopped at the sight of Tsuyoi sleeping. "….Yamamoto-kun."
Tsuyoi's eyes opened, "Eh?"
Behind him, Kotori snickered as Mizuki stood up, "Stand." Everyone stood up. "Bow." Everyone bowed and then sat back down.
Break time:
The five Vongola children gathered around Natsu's desk. "Hey," Kotori said, "what do you guys wanna do at lunch time?"
"Eat lunch," Kiri laughed. Kotori punched her arm. "Hey, ow! You're not supposed to hit girls Kotori." Kiri glared and then suddenly smiled. "I'll tell mom."
"Dad'll back me up, haha."
"We could plan what we're going to do all weekend," Natsu interrupted the bickering of the two twins.
Tsuyoi nodded his head, "yeah so we don't waste time tomorrow." Mizuki nodded and pulled a Pocky out of the box Kotori was holding and put it in her mouth.
"Hey don't take my Pocky!" Kotori shouted. Mizuki just laughed and grabbed another before he swatted her away. The bell suddenly ran and the five sat back down at their desks.
…
"Okay, make sure you finish the math homework by Monday. You can all go to lunch now." The teacher picked up her books and exited the classroom.
Once again the kids went over to Natsu's desk, well, except Mizuki. Natsu looked around the classroom, "Eh? Where's Mizuki?"
Tsuyoi shrugged, "Bathroom, maybe."
"Wait," Kiri interrupted, "she's over there." She pointed to Mizuki at her desk reading something.
Kotori strolled over to her desk with everyone else following him. "Hey~ What are doing~"
"W-what?" Mizuki looked up to see everyone surrounding her desk.
Kiri put a hand on her hip, "what's that?" She nodded towards the magazine in Mizuki's hand.
"Oh this? I found it in a box in one of the closets at home. There's this story in here and I think it was written by Uncle Fran when he was our age."
Kiri walked over and rested her chin on Mizuki's shoulder, "what's it called."
"All it says is 'Story from an Italian Writing Competition – An Extraordinary Masterpiece.'"
Tsuyoi smiled, "well then he must have been an amazing writer, ahaha. Let's go outside on the grass and read it while eating lunch." The rest of the kids nodded and climbed out of their classroom window to a spot under a tree. The classroom was on the first floor so they were all good.
"Now then," Mizuki cleared her throat, "I'll start reading it then."
The castle blew up with a gigantic explosion. The fake prince sat in his red throne laughing his fake prince butt off, "Shesheshe". Fake prince sat on his lazy fake prince butt in his fake but flying throne with red fire coming out of it like a jetpack. The fake prince laughed out loud, "Shesheshe." He flew over to a man named Xanxus who was sitting on his own awesome looking chair. It was a purple chair.
"Oi scum," he said while sitting down. "How dare you blow up may castle".
The fake prince said, "I'm here to kill you and take over this castle." The fake prince summoned his bat slaves and then shouted, "ATTAAAACKKKK!" The bats did their mega ultra dangerous sound wave that makes you bleed everywhere through your eyes and other body parts. The waves came towards Xanxus and then he summoned his wit lion pet. The Lyon turned the fake prince to stone. Xanxus shot the fake prince with his awesome gun. With that the fake prince died.
The little pieces of stone fell on the surrounding pretty little flowers, killing them. The flower fairy spirit ghosts came alive and they were very angry. They hunted the fake prince's ghost. The leader of the ghost army asked, "Why did you kill us pretty little flowers."
Then the fake prince said, "I didn't kill you why do you say that."
And then the leader said, "Yes you did you killed us why did you do that."
And then fake prince said, "No I didn't."
And then the leader said, "Silence you did kill us and now we kill you."
Then fake prince said, "But I'm already dead."
And then leader say, "DIIIEEEEEEEE!" and then the flower spirit ghost army attack fake prince. They all charged at once, pointing their flower spears at him. The fake prince jumped to the side and rolled in the mud. He quickly stood up and rushed into the forest to escape. "GET HIIIIIM!" the army chased him while the fake prince jumped and grabbed on to a branch. He swung himself on top and then jumped from branch to branch.
The rain began to pour down on the forest, making the fake prince drenched and his clothes became heavy. He began to grow tired, but the fairies were still chasing him. His life depended on that battle, he couldn't give up.
Finally the fake prince slipped on a wet branch and fell into the mud. The fairies caught up to him and the leader ordered them, "ATTAAAACK!" Then all the fairies pointed their spears at him and flew straight at him.
The fake prince died. Flower spirit ghost army lived happily ever after.
"Wooow!" Natsu's jaw dropped. Everyone skimmed it over and over in awe.
"That's so good! Uncle Fran should be an author!" Kiri exclaimed.
Mizuki reread it to herself quickly, "But Mum always told me how silly Fran was, and all the silly things he did and said. So that's why I don't really believe he wrote it…"
Natsu stared at the page carefully. "But why's the page all brown? The rest of them are kinda white, even though it's really old.."
"I have an idea!" Tsuyoi stood up. "Let's all go ask Auntie Jana and Uncle Hayato after school!"
"Yeah!" the rest of the children cheered.
…
"Mum I'm home!" Mizuki opened the door and everyone took off their shoes.
"Please excuse us!" the rest of the kids chorused together.
Jana poked her head out of the kitchen to the front door where the kids were putting their bags away. "Hello," she smiled and ushered the five to the kitchen where they sat at the table. "How was your day?"
"Good, we wanted to ask you about that," Mizuki pointed to the magazine Kotori placed on the table.
Jana sat down at the table with them, "what is it?" She picked it up and flipped through the pages but stopped at a stained one. Her eyes widened and she looked up at the five kids staring back at her. "Where did you find this?"
"Mizuki said she found it in a box in a cupboard," Kotori explained.
Kiri leaned forward at the table, "did Uncle Fran really write it?"
"And why is the page brown?" Natsu added.
Jana began to laugh after recalling the old memory, almost feeling some nostalgia. "I do not know the full story so you would have to ask Uncle Fran yourself. But, I do know that he did not write it, well at least in that form."
"What do you mean," Tsuyoi asked.
Jana explained, "Uncle Fran was very silly and couldn't write very well. So at your age he would not have been capable of typing that up by himself. The story is his but Uncle Squalo was the one who wrote that and added more detail. The stain was made by I think, if I can remember, hot chocolate out of shock from his story."
Gokudera walked through the front door to only hear loud laughter coming from the kitchen. He peeped through the entrance to the kitchen and saw Jana telling stories to the children. "Well, well," he walked inside, "look what we have here. All the kids are here together in one place. Just like us and all of your parents 20 years ago."
"That sounds like a long time ago," Kotori retorted.
Natsu turned around on the chair, "Do you know the story, Uncle Hayato?"
Gokudera sat down with Jana, "Well I heard this from Yamamoto a few years ago, who heard from Kristina, who heard from Squalo."
"Can you tell the story please Dad?" Mizuki began listening intently.
"When Uncle Fran was your age, and even now, he always wanted a girlfriend. And he would always ask Auntie Kristina," he held in his laughter, "but she always said no. So anyway, he got a letter from a writing competition who sent letters to all the kids in Italy aged eight to ten and they told them that if they won they would get anything they wanted."
"And Uncle Fran wanted a girlfriend?" Natsu said.
"That's right. So he wrote his story for the competition and in about two o'clock in the morning he gave it to Uncle Squalo and after about ten seconds he started shouting because his spelling was so bad."
All the children burst out laughing.
"Uncle Squalo started fixing everything for him, and then Uncle Fran submitted it to them in the mail. But there was this one bit in the story where he got lazy and put in brackets 'insert epic battle here', so Uncle Squalo wrote his own epic battle, and that's probably why he won."
"So did he get a girlfriend?" Tsuyoi asked.
Gokudera shook his head. "Nope. When Uncle Fran got the letter saying he won, he started screaming but since he was so loud Uncle Xanxus threw a bottle at his head. Then the letter got soaked in wine and then Uncle Squalo threw it in the bin."
"That seems unlike Squalo," Jana murmured to her husband.
"I lied," he quietly whispered, "he actually ripped it to shreds."
"What other stories are there?!" Kiri and Mizuki exclaimed in unison.
Jana thought for a second, "okay, I've got another funny one about Uncle Fran." The kids all leaned forward in their chair ready. "Not too long before the last story Auntie Nebbia and Uncle Fran entered a beauty pageant together."
"Aren't those for girls though?" Natsu giggled.
"Well neither Auntie Kristina nor I wanted to do it so she dressed Fran up as a girl. When he was on stage, Uncle Calda kept cheering for him and we took lots of pictures which I might be able to find for you later."
Kotori asked, "did he do well?"
"Haha, surprisingly yes. When Auntie Nebbia went up though she didn't do as well, and at the end of the pageant she didn't win anything."
"Aww," Kiri pouted, "but what about Uncle Fran?!"
Jana leaned forward, "well he won Ultimate Grand Supreme!"
"Woooaaah!"
"Later that day Auntie Nebbia ordered one hundred fatty tunas, and ate them all, because she was disappointed and upset that a boy beat her."
The kids burst into laughter while Jana stood from the table to find the old photos. Meanwhile, there was a knock at the front door and Gokudera went to answer it.
"Yo Gokudera!" Yamamoto said from outside the door holding lunchboxes of sushi in a bag.
Kristina poked her head from behind him, "'Sup. Can we come in?"
Gokudera sighed and nodded. "Yeah, the kids are here too. We're telling stories from middle school."
"And here I thought I could relax and stop with formal language," Kristina pouted sarcastically.
"Who cares?" Yamamoto shrugged. "Kids love stories." The three of them walked to the kitchen.
Tsuyoi turned his chair around. "Hey Mum and Dad!" he said excitedly.
"I heard it's story time," Kristina grinned.
"Nee Uncle Takeshi, do you have any stories?" Kiri asked.
Yamamoto laughed, "Sure do." He dragged a chair from the living room and sat down on it back to front, resting his arms on the back. "What kind of story do you want?"
"Another funny one!" The five said at once.
"Hmm…" Yamamoto thought for a minute and then raised his head, "got it! Back in middle school we started a band with Uncle Reborn, Lambo, Hayato, Tsuna, me and Auntie I-pin. We wrote two parodies to songs and I remember one day Auntie, Nebbia, Jana, Kristina, Uncle Vino and Calda found us and we had to perform."
"What were the songs about?" Kotori asked.
Kristina laughed, "cheese. We had to help them make music videos for the songs as well. They uploaded them to the Internet and they went pretty big for a few days. Even played in class."
Tsuyoi exclaimed, "that's so cool."
"The whole class was on the Internet for the rest of the lesson. We even went on a someone's account and looked at what videos they posted," Yamamoto laughed along with the kids.
Suddenly, Jana walked into the kitchen carrying a large box full of some old stuff like a photo album and Fran's pageant photos. Jana sighed as she put the heavy box on the table, "I found the photos!"
"So many…" Kotori's eyes widened.
Gokudera opened the box and picked out a few photos. "Oh look here are the photos of Uncle Vino and Auntie Nebbia that Uncle Calda took."
"By the way," Natsu said, "Mum told me Uncle Calda is overseas right now. What is he doing?"
"Well Natsu," Jana leaned in a bit trying not to laugh, "he is a photographer. And this is actually what made him interested in photography."
"I don't get it," Tsuyoi yawned.
Gokudera whispered under his breath, "Takes after his parents doesn't he?"
Kristina cleared her throat. "Auntie Nebbia, Uncle Vino and Uncle Calda came to Japan when we were in middle school. And there was this one time where we found out Auntie Nebbia and Uncle Vino liked each other. Uncle Calda told them to go shopping together and when they got home they watched a movie together and Uncle Calda took photos." She snorted quietly.
"What kinds of photos does he take now?" Kiri asked.
"All kinds," Yamamoto answered. "He goes around the world taking photos of old places, new places and photos of people for magazines – that kind of thing."
"Auntie Nebbia is also a model, despite doing very badly in the pageant." Jana laughed.
"What about Uncle Vino?" Mizuki tilted her head.
"He's a lawyer," answered Gokudera.
Jana stood from the table, "How about Auntie Kristina and I start to make dinner for everyone." The kids cheered and Kristina also stood up and walked over to Jana to decide what to make. Yamamoto and Gokudera left the table to watch TV, leaving the kids and the box of old photos and junk.
"Can we continue looking through the box?" Natsu asked from the table.
Jana turned to look over her shoulder and smiled, "sure, just take it to another room." With that the five all quickly carried the large box up to Mizuki's room.
Mizuki's room:
The kids shuffled through the old photos. Natsu picked up one that fell out of the box and looked at it. "Hey guys," everyone stopped at Natsu calling them, "what are they doing in this one?"
Kotori crawled over next to Natsu and looked at the photo. "Woooaah!" he burst out laughing, "what are they doing all tangled up like that?!"
"They're playing a game called Twister," Mizuki said.
"What's Twister?"
"It's where someone spins this thing and you put one of your hands or feet on one of the coloured circles. I guess everyone played it together," she explained and the rest of the kids nodded.
"Hey look a robot!" Tsuyoi exclaimed at another photo in the box.
Kiri looked over his shoulder. "That robot's cute!"
"How can a robot be cute!?" Kotori snorted.
"It's even making a lollypop for Uncle Lambo! That's so cool!" Tsuyoi said with astonishment.
"But what's that next to it?" Mizuki pointed to the rock golem.
"It's a rock monster!" Kiri shrieked. "But wait, it's…. dancing?"
Kotori took the photo, "that's so cool!"
Natsu continued searching through the box and found a photo with a group of people swinging their arms around. "Look at this one, Uncle Dino, Uncle Mukuro and Auntie Chrome look so silly." Kotori leaned over to look and instantly began to crack up laughing at the sight of his parents.
"Hey what's this?" Tsuyoi pulled a large photo album out of the box.
Meanwhile in the kitchen:
"By the way, I forgot to tell you, Kyoko told me they'll be stopping by when Tsuna, Mukuro and Chrome get back from headquarters," Kristina turned to say.
"When's that?" Gokudera asked.
"Uh…" she hesitated. "In a few minutes?"
"Wait when did she tell you this?"
Kristina deadpanned. "….About a month ago…"
Everyone facepalmed.
Back in Mizuki's room:
"Mum told me that they slept over at their school for a week," Mizuki mumbled. "But these guys are only in the last few photos…" she looked at the Primo Generation with the Tenth.
"That blonde one looks like your dad," Tsuyoi pointed to Giotto.
"It does," Natsu agreed while picking up the photo. "I wonder if they're related."
"Why don't we ask?" Kiri offered and they all stood up.
"Dinner!"
Kotori grinned, "perfect timing." The five ran down the stairs and to the table to take their seats.
"What's that photo you got there?" Yamamoto nodded to the one in Natsu's hand as he sat down.
Natsu passed it to him and asked, "who are those people?" Kristina peeped behind Yamamoto to see the photo of the Primo Generation as well.
Yamamoto stopped for a second. "They're our ancestors from…how long ago?" he looked at Gokudera.
"Maybe a few hundred years," he answered.
"But wouldn't they be dead then?" Kiri asked innocently.
Jana thought of an easy way to explain. "Hmm….you see those rings with the indigo jewels that I always wear?"
The kids nodded.
"Well your Dad and the others had rings too, but they're different now. But anyway, their ancestors' spirits live inside the rings. And Uncle Reborn told them to…well…come and play."
"That's sooo cool!" Kotori jumped with excitement.
"Boo."
Kotori screamed and then turned around to see a pineapple head with a long ponytail's hand resting on his shoulder. He sighed with relief, "Oh…it's just Dad…"
"Kufufufu."
Tsuyoi and Natsu began hysterically laughing at the sight of Kotori scared. Kotori blushed out of embarrassment, "shut up!" That only made the boys laughs harder.
"Kufufufu, are you embarrassed," Mukuro chuckled at his son.
Chrome stepped away from Tsuna who also arrived from headquarters over to Mukuro, "don't tease him."
"Kufufufu."
Kiri jumped up and hugged her mom, "hi!"
"Hello," Chrome smiled, "how was school?"
"Good."
Jana turned to Chrome, "are you guys staying for dinner?"
"Kufufufu, yes!"
Gokudera interrupted and frowned at Mukuro, "no one asked you."
"If it's okay with you," Chrome replied hesitantly.
Jana nodded at Chrome ignoring Gokudera and Mukuro, "Yeah sure it is," she smiled. "Anytime. Pull over some chairs. Dinner's ready now anyway."
"Yaaaay! Dinner!" the children cheered and rushed over to the dinner table.
"What are we having?!" Kiri asked excitedly.
"Well," Jana smiled. "Auntie Kristina and I made Udon, Katsudon, Miso, pork buns and we have some nice steamy rice." The kids' mouths dropped open as Kristina and Jana brought the food to the table.
"THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD!" And they all began to dig in.
…
The kids slouched down on their chairs and took deep breaths. "That was really yummy…"
Tsuna put his chopsticks down, clapped his hands together and closed his eyes, "Thanks for the food."
"Hey Daaad," Natsu started swinging his legs. "Tell us a story!"
"A story?"
The kids nodded, "A story about you in middle school!"
"Hmm…" Tsuna thought about it. "Well there was this one time I got my bag stuck in a tree…"
Natsu giggled, "how did you do that?"
"I was tossing it in the air and it got caught in a tree. When I jumped to grab it only became higher."
Gokudera continued, "that's when I showed up and when I jumped to get it, it move higher in the tree again."
"That's really weird," Kiri said.
"After that I came," Yamamoto smiled. "I lifted them up but they kept moving up. We fell when Uncle Ryohei showed up. And even when he helped us it just moved up and up."
"Kufufufufu…"
Kristina joined in, "I showed up and caused the four to fall so to make up for it I helped them. We started throwing rocks and sticks at it and suddenly Auntie Jana showed up. By then the bag was already about 5m high."
"Hahahaha!" The kids laughed together.
"She was making all these weird excuses," Tsuna commented. "As if she saw something or someone and quickly ran off." Jana softly laughed. "That's when Uncle Calda, Uncle Vino and Auntie Nebbia showed up."
"But then they left…" Gokudera said.
"Well, Uncle Calda stayed," Yamamoto shook his head. "But then we found out Uncle Mukuro was at the top of the tree."
"Kufufufu."
"He was looking for…what was it again?" Jana frowned.
Mukuro chuckled. "My foolish 16 year old self was looking for a magazine about the predicted apocalypse about 20 years ago."
"What?" Tsuyoi blinked.
"Nothing!" Chrome exclaimed. "He means he was looking for a magazine that Auntie Jana had with the….clothes he wanted to buy."
Tsuna stared at Chrome in confusion. "But that's not wh-"
"Just. Clothes. He. Wanted." Chrome repeated.
Yamamoto joined in with the joke. "But Jana wanted to buy Gokudera the same clothes so we tried to stop Mukuro from getting it. It was fun."
"And in the end Auntie Nebbia and Uncle Vino got our bags out of the tree," Kristina crossed her arms and nodded.
Everyone else stared at the three of them skeptically.
"Oh will you look at the time," Chrome looked at the clock. "It's 8pm, we should be heading home!"
"But Chrome why are you rushing all of a sudde-" Jana was interrupted.
"It was really nice seeing you again!" she picked up Kotori and Kiri. "Time to go home! Bye bye!" she rushed out the door.
Mukuro continued to sit on the chair extremely confused, as everyone else did.
