Hello, my friends, and welcome back to the Longest Road! Last time, Ash and Misty began their mission to get Pikachu, Vaporeon, and Togepi back from Team Rocket's clutches. So far, they are unsuccessful in their quest. While they were able to get into Team Rocket HQ (with the help of Brock and Sabrina,), they did not only get captured by Jessie and James of all people, but they had all of their other Pokemon taken as well, making their rescue mission increase from three Pokemon to save to almost twenty! And they were also left to rot in a prison cell. But at least they are not alone. Because in this chapter, they are going to meet the boy they are sharing their cell with, and they are going to learn his story. Who is he? How did he get here? Do you guys think that he got Pokemon stolen as well? Well, we are going to find out right now! Let's end 2018 with a bang! On to the forty-ninth chapter of The Longest Road, as well as the last chapter of 2018, everyone!
"Man, having Pikachu, Vaporeon, and Togepi being stolen is bad enough, Misty," Ash said to the orange-haired girl, "But having the rest of our Pokemon taken away from us, being locked in a cold cell, and being done so by the most incompetent villains in the world? I don't think that anyone in the entire world can get lower than THAT?!"
"I wouldn't worry too much, Ash," Misty said, "I am sure that we are going to get out of here, and get all of our Pokemon back from those stupid Rockets!"
"I know that, but HOW are we going to do it?" Ash asked his partner. The two spent the next couple of minutes trying to think of ways to escape their cell and get their Pokemon back from the bad guys, but none of them seemed to work.
"I think I can help you two get an idea to get out of here." a voice said. Ash and Misty looked around wondering who said that. That was when they realized they were not alone in the cell. There was another trainer in the cell with them, and he looked like he was around Ash's age. He had a hair color that was similar to Ash's mother and was wearing a similar outfit Ash did, only with less blue and more green. His hat was yellow and blue and had a little red and white piece of metal on the top right corner.
"Uh," Ash said to the boy, "Who are you?"
"My name is Richard Ruiji, but you can just call me Richie," the boy said to Ash, "What is your name?"
"My name is Ash Ketchum," Ash said, shaking Richie's hand.
"And my name is Misty Waterflower," Misty said to the boy, "How is it going,"
"Just fine and dandy," Richie said to her in a sarcastic tone, "Those dumb Rockets took my Pokemon, and I have been here for five days."
"Well, Ash over here can't even survive five MINUTES without any of his Pokemon," Misty said.
"Right," Ash said before he realized what she said. Then he shouted, "HEY!"
"So, Ash, Misty," Richie said, "How exactly did you get here?"
Ash and Misty spent the next two hours explaining how they got there from Cassidy and Bitch capturing three of their Pokemon, to them breaking into TRHQ, to Jessie and James throwing them in the cell.
"If you want the full story," Ash said, "I recommend you go ahead and read the first four dozen chapters. Anyways, how did YOU get here, Richie?"
The boy with brown hair gave out a deep breath before beginning his story, "Well, I was on my way here after earning my seventh gym badge in Fucshia City." He then started a flashback.
It was the twenty-sixth day of April, and a boy and his Pikachu were walking down the longest road en route to Viridian City, where they hoped to earn their final gym badge.
"Are you ready to win our next gym badge, Sparky?" Richie asked the Pikachu on his shoulder.
"Pikachu!" Sparky responded to his trainer.
"I am going to take that as a yes," the brown haired trainer said to Sparky as he petted his Pikachu's spiky hair. "But before we do that, how about if we get some well-deserved rest at the Center?" With that, the two headed into the Pokemon Center for a nice long rest after spending the last couple of days walking from Fuschia City. Little did the two know that a pair of eyes belonging to a Rocket Grunt were keeping an eye on the trainer. He then pulled out a walkie-talkie to have a conversation with another grunt.
"Come in, TRG9208!" the grunt said through the walkie-talkie, "This is TRG5138, and I heard that a trainer is planning on challenging boss Giovanni's quote-unquote "gym" tomorrow."
"That is great TRG5138," TRG9028 said to his fellow Team Rocket Grunt, smiling, "I can't wait to see the look on his face when we throw him into one of our cells!" They proceded to give evil laughs.
"Wait for a second, Richie," Ash said to the boy, "How did you earn your Soul Badge seventh when I won mine sixth?"
"Oh, I took a flight on one of my flying Pokemon from Cinnabar Island to get there." the brown haired boy said to the black haired one.
Ash suddenly facepalmed and said, "Dammit?! Why didn't I think of flying to Cinnabar to Fuschia after earning my gym badge instead of wasting a dozen chapters walking to Pallet Town and getting on a boat? Especially after me and my group flew to Vermillion after I caught a Dragonite in chapter 12, thanks to us getting extremely lost?"
"Don't be too upset, Ash," Misty said, trying to calm him down, "In those twelve chapters alone, we finally got our first AquaSparkshipping kiss, we developed our relationship a bit more, you continued rebuilding your friendship with Leaf, you broke your bond with Charmeleon after he evolved and built it back up again, and we have found little Togepi!"
"Yeah," Ash said, "You are right. And maybe Northstar cared so much for development, he forgot that option to get to my seventh gym battle quicker." He then faced Richie, apologized for interrupting, and asked him to continue his story.
Early the next morning, March 27th, 1999, Richie woke up, got dressed, and headed for the main room of the center to pick up Sparky and the rest of his Pokemon.
"Were you good for Nurse Joy, Sparky?" the brown-haired boy asked his loyal Pikachu.
"Pika!" Sparky said to his trainer as he got his head rubbed by his trainer.
"Good to hear that, Sparky," Richie said to his Pokemon, "Now, are you ready to earn that final gym badge so we can partake in the Pokemon League?"
"Pikachu!" Sparky said as he hopped onto his trainer's shoulder. Richie walked out of the Pokemon Center and headed north to their destination, still unaware that Rocket grunts were watching him.
"Alright, TRG9208," TRG5138 told his fellow Grunt over a walkie-talkie, "Our target is heading towards Boss Giovanni's gym, so be sure to get into position!"
"I am already on it, TRG5138!" TRG9208 said before hanging up and heading back into Team Rocket HQ.
"So basically you got thrown in here by a couple of grunts?" Ash asked.
Richie nodded before telling his cellmate, "But if you really want to know what went on when I was captured…"
Richie approached the door to the gym and knocked on it. Nobody answered, but the door mysteriously opened on its own.
"Do we go in, Sparky?" Richie asked his partner.
"Pi?" the spiky-haired Pikachu said to his trainer, shrugging.
"Well, I suppose that we do so," the trainer in a yellow hat said to his Pokemon before heading into the empty hallways of the gym. He spent the next couple of minutes trying and failing, to find the way to the main battle room to take on the gym leader. Eventually, Richie gave up his search and decided to head back to the main entrance to get out, but he forgot the path he took.
"Which way back to the door, Sparky?" he asked his partner.
Sparky shrugged before they heard a pair of voices.
"Oh, you are not going ANYWHERE, Richie!" the first one said.
"Who are you?!" Richie shouted looking back and forth wildly.
"We are the ones who are going to make sure that you are not going to leave this place!" the second voice said before the two owners jumped on top of Richie and wrestled him to the ground
"Get the hell off of me!" Riche told the two Team Rocket Grunts to no avail.
"Be silent, we just want to give you peace!" TRG5138 told the brown-haired boy, "We are just going to take all of your Pokemon and throw you in a cell!"
"Well, you are not going to give me any peace if I can help it!" Richie said as he dug into his pockets for one of his Pokemon, only to be horrified to find that they were not there.
"Are you looking for these, Bitchie?" TRG9208 said to the boy, showing him his Pokeballs.
"Hey!" Richie said to the grunts, struggling to get back onto his feet, "Give them back! Right now!"
"No way, Jose!" TRG5138 said to the boy before knocking him back onto the ground and pulled out a taser.
Richie panicked at the sight of the gun and tried to fight off the two Rockets before he got shot in the chest.
"And just like that, I was out like a light." Richie said, "I woke up a couple of hours later, and I have been in here trying to think of a way to get out of here for the last couple of days."
"Well, Richie," Ash said, "It is a good thing that Jessie and James threw Misty and me into this cell instead of an empty one because together, we are going to figure out a way to get out of here, find our Pokemon, and defeat those evil doofuses!" And with that, the three twelve-year-olds got to work.
Meanwhile, Jessie and James were running through the Viridian Forest trying to find Brock and Sabrina. They reached the center of the wooded area before sending out all of their Pokemon.
"Alright, everyone!" Meowth told his friend's Pokemon, "We have to find the older twoips so that we can get promoted by da boss! I decided that we are going to split up! Weezing, Arbok, you two are going to search towards the Pewter side of this forest!"
"Alright, Meowth!" the pair of poisonous Pokemon said to the Scratch Cat Pokemon before heading north.
"Victreebel, how about if you patrol the Viridian side?"
"Yes, Meowth! The grass-type said to Meowth before heading south.
"Jessie, James, me and Lickitung are going to look in the western portion," the cat said, "I want you two to look in the east. Is that alright with you two?" The two Rockets nodded before the two normal-types ran off to try and find Brock and Sabrina. When they were gone, James asked Jessie a question.
"Have you been considering the question Ash asked you in the last chapter?"
"Why have you?" the red-haired lady asked her partner.
James nodded, "I have really noticed that we don't have any real reason to be a part of Team Rocket anymore now that we dealt with a problem known as Jessibelle. Plus, do you remember how Giovanni treated us after we failed to steal the twerp's Pokemon the first time?"
Giovanni was sitting at his desk facing the door, waiting for two particular grunts, TRG4897 and TRG9998, otherwise known as Jessie and James. He heard from another grunt about their failure at the Pokemon Center. Just then, there was a small knock on the door.
"Come in!" Giovanni said as the door opened to reveal Jessie, James, and Meowth standing there, shaking back and forth like a vibrating cell phone.
"We are sorry for our failure, boss!" Jessie said to her boss.
"Yeah," James said, "We can do anything to make up for it!"
Giovanni just smiled before directing his least favorite grunts to a particular corner of his office and ordered them to kneel. Once they were on the ground, he sent out his Persian and ordered him to use Bite off their butts. When Jessie and James tried to get up, Giovanni just whipped them and shouted "STOP STRUGGLING!"
The torture carried on for another ten minutes before Giovanni decided that enough was enough. Jessie and James got back onto their feet, and before they left, Giovanni spoke up.
"Before you go, I want you to repeat after me." he said, "I am not going to fail to those meddling kids or their Pokemon ever again."
"I am not going to fail to those meddling kids or their Pokemon ever again." Jessie, James, and Meowth said in an unenthusiastic tone before leaving their boss's office.
"Yeah, I remember that" Jessie said, taking off her shirt and showing her partner one of the bite marks that were STILL on her skin after eight months and 46 chapters.
"Well," James said, "I know that we can escape his abuse if we just quit from Team Rocket."
"But won't that just make him angrier?" Jessie asked. Sure, she and James were his least favorite grunts of them all, but he still wants the number of people in his organization to grow to inflict more terror in the Kanto Region.
"Don't worry, we are going to find a way out of this mess," James said before he went in to kiss her. Jessie returned the kiss before the two stripped naked and started to make out on the back of a tree.
"How do you think Meowth and the rest of the Pokemon will react when they hear that we decided to quit Team Rocket?" Jessie asked.
"I am honestly not sure, Jessie," James said, "But I am sure Meowth is not going to be pleased, as he is the only Pokemon that I know of, if not the only Pokemon in the entire world who chooses to do evil deeds at will. But I don't think we should worry about it." James said.
And with that, we have finished another chapter of the Longest Road!
