This has been one of my favourite chapters to write! I was going to hold off on posting it for a few more days, but i'm too excited for you all to read it lol I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
p.s. As fanfiction changed their policy on links, I made a twitter which has all the links to dresses and engagement rings ect for all my stories. Peyton's wedding dress is on their now too. Username is lpcabana
"Oh god this is crazy. Is this actually happening? What if Joe changes his mind? He might have woken up this morning and realised he doesn't want to marry me anymore. Maybe I'm too much hard work, too stubborn." Peyton rambled on, working herself up like many brides on their wedding day when nerves set in.
"Breath, Peyton. Just breathe. That's crazy and you know it is. Trust me, Joe wants to marry you. Anyone can tell that from the way he looks at you," her cousin Kira instructed her.
"Exactly, he thawed our ice queen cousin. Trust us, that man is head over fucking heels in love with you. Now, like Kira said, breathe and let us finish doing your hair." Her other cousin Libby added.
As nervous as Peyton was getting, it was nice to have all her family around her. With everyone living all over the country and all busy with their life's, Peyton didn't get to see her cousins, Kira, Libby, Ava and Colton, who were more like brother and sisters to her, as much as she would like to. Having them all here for her wedding was really special to her. Kira, Libby, Ava and Joe's sister, Vanessa, who she had become increasingly close to, were all her bridesmaids. While Joe's brother, Matt, Jon, Colby and Nick were all his best men. And Vanessa's daughter, Abbie was a flower girl and her son, Luca a flower boy.
Despite a few attempts from Pattie trying to convince Peyton to have a big wedding, the older lady loved a big family gathering, Peyton had maintained that she just wanted a small wedding. Peyton didn't want some big massive wedding with hundreds of guests and loads of fuss. No, she just wanted to marry the man she loved in a small, intimate affair, with only the most important people in her and Joe's life there to witness the special day.
Joe had stated from the beginning that as long as the ceremony ended with Peyton as his wife, he didn't mind if they had a massive fairy tale wedding or a small ceremony with a handful of people. He just wanted to marry the love of his life, the mother of his child, the woman of his dreams. The couple had decided on a small beach wedding in Pensacola, followed by a small reception at a luxury hotel where Joe and Peyton would also been spending the night.
"You look stunning, you really do." Michelle had tears in her eyes as Peyton stood in the hotel room and did a little twirl having just put her wedding dress on, with help from Kira and Vanessa.
Peyton had chosen a Justin Alexander hand beaded sweetheart neckline, asymmetrically draped jersey gown. With beads also adorning the straps, while there was also a detachable crystal and pearl back detail. Her long, dark brunette hair had been lightly curled before being styled into a half up, half down style. Her make-up done to look relatively natural, while bringing her leaf green eyes out.
"You look absolutely beautiful, Peyton," Pattie said tearful herself. "My son is going to be speechless when he sees you."
"You look like a princess," Ava smiled. "Malaki, look at your momma looking like a princess," she added, bouncing the little boy on her hip.
"Guys, you're going to make me cry and then I'm going to show up to my wedding with mascara running down my face." Peyton smiled, feeling start to form in her eyes. She really did feel like a princess in her dress and with her hair and make-up done.
"I think mommy needs some hugs," Ava replied handing Malaki over to his mom.
"Look at the real star of the day in his little suit," Peyton smiled holding her son. "You're going to be a little heartbreaker when you're older."
"Okay, come on, time for some pictures." Kira grinned holding her phone up. "I want the first selfie with the bride."
"I just want you to know how proud I am of you, Peyton. You know you've always been like a daughter to me and I'm completely honoured to be the one to give you away today. I've said it a couple of times today, but you truly do look stunning today." Roddy smiled at his niece, getting choked up. An entirely different, softer side to him that what so many fans saw of him as Rowdy Roddy Piper in the ring.
"From the moment I agreed to marry Joe, I knew it had to be you to give me away today. There's no one else I would want to have the honour, no one I would trust more, no one as special to me for this role." Peyton gave her uncle a quick hug before taking a deep breath, knowing it was time.
Having chosen to have a small beach wedding, a part of the beach, had been closed off to the public. A bamboo arch covered in bright flowers had been set up, a smoothed walkway with fresh light pink rose petals and white chairs for the guests had all been set up. The guest list was a small one: Roddy, Michelle, Kira, her husband Scott and son Chase. Libby, Ava and Colton and their partners. Patricia Sika, Matt, Vanessa, Summer and Myritza and their partners. The Uso twins and their wife's, Tamina and her children and The rock, who Peyton had met a few times. Nick, Jon, Renee and Colby, though she had point blank told him there was no way she was allowing Zahra Schreiber to be at her wedding. She didn't particularly know her and nor did she want to. It was a point she had been very vocal about.
Joe was stood at the bamboo arch, his heart going a million miles a minute, or at least it felt like that to him. He'd been a mess himself all day, fumbling as he'd been putting his suit on that morning. All the other guys had found it funny, though Jimmy knew what Joe was feeling like, having married diva Naomi himself the year before.
The moment Joe set eyes on Peyton as Roddy walked her down the walkway, he was sure his heart stopped beating briefly, his moth going dry while he could feel a few tears forming in his eyes. She was a vision. A goddess. The most beautiful woman in the world. Joe didn't think he'd ever have the right words to describe how beautiful Peyton looked walking down the rose petal walkway to him. All he knew was that he was the luckiest man in the world. Peyton was his, all his; about to become his wife.
"Wow," he said quietly.
"Take care of her," Roddy said when he reached the archway, placing Peyton's hand in Joe's.
"Always," Joe replied quickly before Roddy went and took his seat next to Michelle. "You look like a goddess, babygirl."
Peyton smiled up at Joe, unable to reply as she tried not to cry, knowing she'd never get through her vows if she started crying now.
A few seconds later and the officiant started the ceremony. "To all present I say: We are gathered here, not to witness the beginning of what will be, but rather what already is! We do not create this marriage, because we cannot. We can and do, however, celebrate with Leati and Peyton the wondrous and joyful occurrence that has already taken place in their lives, and the commitment they make today."
For Joe and Peyton, it was like it was just the two of them and no one else as they stood there just smiling at each other. Neither able to take their eyes of the other as the officiant continued talking about the importance of marriage.
"May you always need one another, not to fill an emptiness, but to help each other know your fullness. May you want one another, but not out of lack. May you embrace one another, but not encircle one another. May you succeed in all important ways with each other, and not fail in the little graces. May you have happiness, and may you find it in making one another happy. May you have love, and may you find it in loving one another."
Sitting front row, Roddy gripped Michelle's hands, seeing his wife tearing up while she had Malaki on her lap.
"We will now come to the vows, Joe and Peyton chose to write their own," the officiant smiled. "Leati, if you're ready."
Joe smiled nervously for a moment before he started to speak. If he thought cutting a promo in front of thousands was nerve wrecking at times, it was nothing to now, speaking his own vows to Peyton.
"Peyton, babygirl, you've changed my life in the craziest and best ways; you make me a better and happier person. You're the one I'm always thinking about, the voice I always want to hear when I'm on the road, the face I always want to see, the person I can't wait to come home to." Peyton couldn't hold back the tears anymore as a few rolled down her cheek. "I fell in love with your strength and stubbornness and those green eyes of yours. You're the best mom to Malaki, the most beautiful person in my world and I fall in love with you a little more every day. I promise to always love you, support you, and cherish you. To hold you tight when there's a storm and watch you sleep the mornings I'm home and never question if you have enough shoes already. I love you today, tomorrow and forever."
"Peyton, if you're ready," the officiant smiled at a tearful Peyton as she composed herself. Joe gently stroked her cheek, wiping away a tear as it stated rolling down her cheek.
"Joe, I once told you how I didn't believe in marriage, something that shocked you. But as time went by and we went through ups and downs, something in me changed. You showed me that it was okay to fall in love and open up, that it was okay to cry and let my guard down. And one day, I realised that there was nothing I wanted more than to marry you, to be your wife. I could stand here and try and explain what changed my mind and all the reasons I love you, but it would all come back to one thing. You. Just you," Peyton choked out emotionally. Taking a moment before she continued. "I never knew what people meant when they said that being with someone felt like home. Then I met you and we fought like hell, then you got me pregnant…and we fought like hell some more and somewhere down the line I fell completely in love with you," everyone chuckled at Peyton's bit about them arguing. "Now I know exactly what people mean when they say that, I feel at home with you, Joe," Peyton smiled. "You turned out to be everything I wanted, that I never knew I needed."
"May I have the rings, please?"
After a little reminder from his mom, which prompted a few chuckled, Luca presented the rings to the officiant while Peyton gave the young boy an encouraging smile.
"The circle has frequently been used to symbolise eternity. The ring, like the circle, is a reminder of the perfection and endurance of Peyton and Leati's commitment and love for one another." Passing Peyton's ring to Joe and instructing him to slide it onto her finger. "Leati, repeat after me: Peyton, today I place this ring on your finger. It symbolizes the bond that is never-ending. But when you need to know the depth of my love for you, loo not to the ring, but into my heart."
"Peyton, today I place this ring on your finger. It symbolizes the bond that is never-ending. But when you need to know the depth of my love for you, loo not to the ring, but into my heart."
"And now you, Peyton," the officiant smiled at her as she handed her Joe's ring. "Peyton, repeat after me: Leati, today I place this ring on your finger. It symbolizes the bond that is never-ending. But when you need to know the depth of my love for you, loo not to the ring, but into my heart."
"Leati, today I place this ring on your finger. It symbolizes the bond that is never-ending. But when you need to know the depth of my love for you, loo not to the ring, but into my heart."
"Friends and family, to conclude this ceremony, will the designated witnesses please come forward and sign their names to the certificate of marriage."
Matt and Kira joined Peyton and Joe at the side of the bamboo archway, where a small table with the document had been set up earlier, to quickly sign the legal documents, the bride and groom signing first. Then the four of them returned to their original spots.
"By the power of your love and commitment, and the power vest in me by the State of Florida, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."
Everyone clapped as Joe wrapped his arms around Peyton's waist, lifting her off the ground as he kissed her. Peyton was unable to stop smiling as she wrapped her arms around Joe's neck when he lifted her off the ground, loving the feeling of his lips against hers.
"I love you, Mrs Anoa'I," Joe smiled at his new wife.
"I love you too, Mr Anoa'I," Peyton smiled back at him before kissing him once more.
Still holding his new wife off the ground, Joe spun them both around before placing her back on the sand. Taking her hand in his as they made their way down the archway together as their family threw confetti over them.
Before everyone made their way to the nearby luxury hotel for the reception, they all posed for photographs. Joe and Peyton unable to stop grinning as they posed for pictures; ones of just them, them with Malaki, with the bridesmaids and best men, with their families, group ones with everyone in.
Once the photos on the beach were done and everyone started making their way to the cars, Peyton giggled when Joe suddenly picked her up bridal style and carried her to their wedding car.
"It's tradition for the groom to carry his bride on their wedding day," he smiled at her as she wrapped an arm around his neck and rested her head again his shoulder.
"I think I'm going to have jaw ache for like a week after today, all the smiling I'm doing. I'm also too happy to really care." Peyton told Joe as she moved to sit on his lap at their table, Joe wrapping an arm around her.
Joe placed a soft kiss on Peyton's jaw. "Have I told you how beautiful you look today?"
"Only like a million times."
"It'll never be enough, babygirl. You're stunning."
Peyton placed a hand on Joe's cheek, stroking gently. "I feel like a princess today."
"You're a queen, baby."
"In that case, you're the hottest, most amazing King and I'm totally, completely and irrevocably in love with you." Peyton pressed her lips to Joe's, kissing him softly while he wrapped his other arm around her; pressing her closer to him. The married couple enjoying a moment to themselves while their table was quiet.
A little while later, as everyone was sat at their tables, eating, Joe suddenly stood up from the head table he was sat at with Peyton, Malaki who was currently being help by Pattie, Sika, Roddy and Michelle.
"I know you wanted to make a speech Roddy, before you do though I wanted to say a few words myself. Firstly, thank you all for being here today. After Malaki's birth, this is the best day of my life. My son and my wife-it feels really good saying that. Wife," Joe smiled. "I know all of you here today have seen Peyton being stubborn or witty. Nick, Jon, Colby, Jimmy, Jey and Naomi, you've all seen her call me out for being an ass, as well as calling out many other large wrestlers. My wife is definitely badass. Many have seen her in work mode or when she's misplaced something. You've all seen her smiling or when she's excited, seen her showing our beautiful son with love and cuddles. I've been lucky enough to see so much more, another side of my wife than most. I've watched her face light up when we found out we were having a boy. I've seen her self-conscious of her body. I watched my badass, beautiful wife go through 7 hours of labour to bring our beautiful son, Malaki into the world. I've felt blessed and utterly amazed as I've watched the bond between my wife and son as she breastfeeds him. I've been overwhelmed with love as I've watched my wife hold our son close to her heart when he cries at 3am because he wanted to be held. I've been nursed myself by Peyton after particularly brutal matches and after my hernia surgery last year. I've been consoled by wife as well after The Rumble and Wrestlemania this year. I've shared treasured moments with my wife as out son has hit various milestones. In the time I've known her, I've seen so many different sides to Peyton, watched different emotions cross her face and had so many precious moments with her. I think you'll all agree with me that knowing Peyton, having her in your life, having her support is a beautiful and amazing gift. Peyton, you bring so much happiness, laughter, strength, wit and beauty to everyone's lives, and I'm so happy to have you in mine and as the mother of my child."
While everyone was clapping at Joe's speech, Peyton had tears streaming down her eyes at his unexpected speech. When he sat down, she chucked her arms around him, burying her face in the side of his neck, too choked up to get any words out.
"Wow, now I've got to compete with that speech," Roddy joked as he stood up, people in the room chuckling. "You were right, Joe, everything you said about Peyton. The strength and laughter she brings to everyone' life. I know that everyone here today knows that while technically Peyton is my niece, she's always been like a daughter to me. Just like Libby, Ava, Kira and Colton, I'm so proud of you and everything you've achieved, Peyton. But, also, I want to welcome you to the family, Joe. I know when you and Peyton first got together, like any parent, I gave you a speech. But standing here today, I couldn't be prouder of what you and Peyton have together; your love and support for each other. The beautiful little family you've created together. And now if everyone will join me in raising their glasses to the happy couple. To Joe and Peyton."
"Joe and Peyton," everyone toasted, raising their glasses. Peyton resting her head against Joe's shoulder as she smiled at her uncle's speech.
"And now the speeches are out the way, it's time for Joe and Peyton's first dance as husband and wife." Roddy added once everyone had toasted the happy couple.
Everyone clapped as the married couple made their way to the middle of the dance floor. Joe wrapped his arms around Peyton's waist while she placed hers around his neck and lay her head on his chest as their song started to play.
I must have been through about a million girls
I'd love 'em then I'd leave 'em alone
I didn't care how much they cried, no sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone
But then I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love, yes I did
I fooled around and fell in love, I fooled around and fell in love
It used to be when I'd see a girl that I liked
I'd get out my book and write down her name
But when the grass got a little greener over on the other side
I'd just tear out that page
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love, since I met you baby
I fooled around and fell in love, I fooled around and fell in love
Free, on my own is the way I used to be
Ah, but since I met you baby, love's got a hold on me
It's got a hold on me now, I can't let go of you baby
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love, oh yes I did
I fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, fooled around,
fooled around, fooled around, fell in love
Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, fooled around,
fooled around, fooled around, fell in love
I fooled around, fell in love
I fell in love, I fell in love, yes I did
"I fell in love, I fell in love, yes I did," Joe sang the last line to Peyton as they continued to slowly dance to the song.
"Today has been perfect," Peyton told Joe before leaning up to kiss him.
Peyton had her arms wrapped around Joe's neck as he carried her bridal style into their honeymoon suite. His parents, also staying at the hotel, were having Malaki for the night, allowing the newlyweds some privacy. Peyton wasn't too bothered about a honeymoon at that moment in time, that could come later, she just wanted one night with Joe; her new husband.
Carrying her into the bedroom, neither paid much attention to how the room had been decorated, Joe attaching his lips to Peyton's neck.
"As stunning as you look in that dress, I can't wait to get you out of it," Joe told her, finally placing her on the ground again.
"You better come undress your new wife then," Peyton smirked at him, tilting her head to side which she knew drove him crazy.
I hope you all enjoyed their wedding :) Let me know your thoughts!
