Thank you, we're so glad you do and we love you too :)

CHEMICALS REACT

Caroline shut her locker with a huff, glancing at the clock in the hallway.

She was due in chemistry class, but she was waiting until the last possible minute to duck in before the bell rang.

It wasn't so much that she was avoiding the class, but she that was avoiding a certain person in the class.

A certain person that she may or may not have not-so drunkenly made out with at the Back to School Bash at the Falls the weekend before.

A certain male that was the brother of her best friend.

Klaus Mikaelson. The bane of her existence.

It wasn't so much that she was embarrassed to run into him after their "mishap" at the Falls, but it would be super awkward to try to make small talk with someone who has had their head between your thighs recently.

Just a tiny bit awkward.

"What are you doing?"

Caroline whirled around at the sound of her best friend's voice, dropping her books on the floor. Rebekah raised an unimpressed eyebrow at her before leaning down to gather up the fallen materials.

"What's with you this week? You're jumpier than a cat," Rebekah remarked, stacking the books in Caroline's hands.

Caroline just giggled nervously, fiddling with her notebook.

"What makes you say that?" she asked, clearing her throat and straightening up her back nonchalantly.

Rebekah just rolled her eyes, casting a pointed look to the chemistry book still left on the floor.

"I swear, between Nik and you this week, there is something in the water. You are both completely out of it."

Caroline nearly choked at the sound of Klaus' nickname, but covered it with a small cough. Rebekah looked at her concernedly, but she just smiled back.

"It's always the first few weeks of school," Caroline explained, twisting her fingers nervously. "Senior classes and all."

Rebekah just narrowed her eyes, nodding slowly. "Well, you better hurry on to class. Bell is going to ring any minute. Lunch later?"

Caroline nodded, biting her lip awkwardly. "See you then."

Rebekah turned to leave, waving over her shoulder and Caroline collapsed against her locker in relief once she was out of sight.

That was close.

Groaning to herself, Caroline checked the hallway clock. She reluctantly headed down the hall to her chemistry class, praying that there was an open seat in the front, far away from Klaus' normal seat in the back of the classroom. Putting her head down, she fast-walked to the classroom, dodging all the other procrastinating students.

Caroline looked up, cursing her luck when she saw the one man she had been avoiding, coming towards the classroom from the opposite direction. Halting just outside the door, Caroline licked her lips nervously as her heart pounded frantically in her chest. Klaus' eyes widened, his jaw slightly open in surprise. They stood outside the classroom door, awkwardly shuffling their feet as both pairs of eyes avoided looking at each other.

"Hi," she muttered, looking down at her shoes.

"Hello, love," Klaus replied, then cursing under his breath once the endearment dropped from his lips.

Caroline bit her lip shyly, peering up at him beneath her lashes.

"H-How are you?" she asked hesitantly, cursing the way her voice wavered slightly from nerves.

Klaus' blue eyed gaze met hers, sending a jolt down her back.

"Good. But, could be better," he admitted, his gaze conveying the hidden meaning in his words.

Caroline went to respond, then found she was at a loss for words and her mouth was dry with nerves.

"And I could be better too," their chemistry teacher interrupted, causing Caroline to drop her books once again. "Especially if you two would come inside."

Klaus bent down to pick up her books as Caroline glared at their teacher, Damon Salvatore. Damon was Klaus' best friend's brother, and he had always been the annoying third wheel that nobody could ever get rid of. Imagine their annoyance last week when they found out that he was now the newest AP Chemistry teacher at Mystic Falls High.

Klaus placed her books back in her hands, smiling slightly at the quiet thanks she muttered to him.

Spinning on her heel, Caroline pushed past Damon into the classroom. Stopping suddenly, she noticed the little white place cards on the lab tables.

"Oh, I forgot to mention," Damon continued, a knowing smirk plastered across his face. "You have assigned seating now. Congratulations Forbes and Mikaelson, you're now lab partners."

Caroline looked back at Klaus, his face just as uncomfortable as she felt.

Her heart stuttered a little as she stalked over to the empty table with her name on it, ignoring Klaus as he slid in the seat next to her. Damon began lecturing, explaining the experiment that they would be completing that day. She cast a side look at Klaus, her stomach clenching as he licked his bottom lip nervously.

She was reminded of the way his talented tongue felt pressed against her, pushing her over the brink of bliss. The way his stubble felt, scratching against the inside of her thighs as she clutched his head against her. She pressed her lips in a firm line, coughing slightly as she shifted in her chair. Klaus glanced at her, smirking briefly at her red face as if he could read her mind.

"Okay?" he asked, leaning over to whisper in her ear.

She shivered slightly at the feel of his warm breath against her neck. She glared at him, nodding once before leaning away and propping her head up with her arm on the desk. Klaus just grinned back. Damon finished the lesson, giving the students leeway to start working on the experiment.

Caroline pointedly ignored Klaus as she flipped to the correct page in the chemistry book, reading it to herself. It took her about three minutes to realize that she wasn't absorbing a single word and that Klaus was staring at her.

"What?" she snapped, shutting her book with a huff.

Klaus shrugged, shaking his head.

"Just wondering what's the matter," he mused, reaching for the goggles that Damon had placed on the table in front of them.

"Well, it's none of your business, actually," Caroline shot back, biting her tongue at the lie. It was actually all of his business.

"This wouldn't have to do with a certain rendezvous in the woods last weekend at the Falls, would it?" Klaus asked, side-eying her.

Caroline scoffed, haughtily sticking her nose in the air.

"You wish," she bit out. Klaus' face fell slightly at her obvious dismissal, the action causing her heart to skip a beat. "It's not like it was a big deal."

Klaus' jaw tightened, and he nodded curtly. "Fine. If that's how you want to deal with it."

Caroline scoffed. "Deal with it? I was drunk, you were drunk. We didn't know what we were doing."

Klaus was quiet. "I wasn't that drunk."

His confession sent her heart in a frenzy, her mind racing with the possibilities. She had spent the last week convincing herself that they were completely plastered, not fully aware of what was happening. But honestly? She'd been just about as sober as she was on a Sunday morning in church.

"Me either," she murmured, looking at him out the corner of her eye.

Klaus' eyes widened, a small smile breaking out across his face. She smiled back, biting her lip shyly. They stood there for a few minutes, grinning at each other like idiots before Damon came by and told them to "stop eye-fucking and get back to work."

He really was a terrible teacher.

"So, where do we go from here?" she asked.

"I think we have to make sure we have a blue flame," Klaus responded, briefly looking down at his notebook.

Caroline rolled her eyes, giggling.

"I meant us," she corrected.

His answering smile was wolfish, leaning in closer. She watched his full lips, licking hers subconsciously as he moved in closer and closer. Her heart sped; breathing frantically as his lips moved closer to hers. She closed her eyes in anticipation and he bypassed her mouth, moving to whisper lowly in her ear.

"I think we need to study the effects of chemistry, don't you think?" he murmured, nipping slightly at her ear.

Opened her eyes, she looked back at his hooded expression. She nodded slowly, ghosting a teasing hand down his side.

"I think we need to study anatomy too," she mused, flirtatiously licking her bottom lip.

His eyes darkened lustfully. "I do enjoy studying the human body."

Caroline giggled, leaning in to whisper seductively in his ear. "I enjoy studying with hands-on activities myself."

Klaus bit back a moan, pinning her with a lustful stare. "I think you're my favorite lab partner yet."

She giggled, turning back to her chemistry textbook as he affectionately ran a hand down her back.

Science freaking ROCKED.
