Touhou Gensokyo Girls

Episode 53: Atomic party (Fancy 3rd Eye)

EARTH PALACE: afternoon

In the little library underground, a single being named Satori sat in silence, writing a little light novel, just to pass the time, she had made several novels so far, but all under different names or as anonymous, she knew no one would take her stories seriously, or buy them, if they knew it was a despised Satori who made them.

Still, it was as good a pastime as any, and she did enjoy the art of writing, she herself had gathered a large collections of stories from all corners of Gensokyo and some from other worlds, she loved to be inspired, that was properly the biggest reason she could never shut her third eye, the way her sister did.

Now that she thought about it, she couldn't exactly remember the last time she had even seen her sister, last thing she heard, she was going to the land of the sky, "I hope you are okay Koishi, you are strong, easily capable of defending yourself, if they ever see you at all that is, but I fear your recklessness and curiosity will get yourself into trouble one day." She looked wistfully up to the sky as she lamented about her sister.

It wasn't really all that late, but it felt like she had been at work all day, then she remembered she had been sitting in this same chair practically all day working out problems in her novel, "I am not getting anywhere, it's time to call it quits for today." She closed the book and leaned back in the chair and stretched her arms, "I think some tea would do wonders right about now."

Out in the kitchen, she was making herself some tea, made with leaves from the overworld, Rin had been kind enough to gather and bring a bunch of these for long time use, aside from the water boiling, no sound could be heard, so when the sound of single knock on the front gate appeared, it could be heard throughout the hallway, even out into the kitchen, For a second she just stood there, wondering who would come at this hour, all her pets used the back door or landed on their terrace, she decided that it would be best to see who it was, before the person would just make themselves at home, like she had experienced on occasions before.

Before she got to the door though, another knock could be heard, followed by another and another, all of them getting louder and louder, outside she could hear someone talking, "knock harder" and another saying, "I'll search for another entrance."

Once she finally opened the front gate, she was surprised to find not one or two, but six people of all sorts! And except for an all too familiar human magician, all them came in pretty well dressed clothes for an important event.

"Good evening, miss Komeiji." Alice greeted her very politely.

"Good... evening." Satori was just about to ask what they came here for, until her third eye picked up something strange, the four people in front happened to be three mages, the human and two youkai plus a kappa, but for some reason they were strangely difficult to mind read, like they were socked up in a gray mist with no thoughts or feelings.

Until she noticed the two onis, with just one glance, she understood one desire too huge to ignore, "Oh… you wanted to party here?!" She uttered in a disheartening tone, she was about to turn them away, but seeing two of them were onis and the rest not the usual common folk either, she changed tactics, "I can't stop all of you, just please, don't break anything… or steal anything." She added with a pointed finger for emphasis.

Everyone's attention was fixated on Marisa, who made a shocked face, "Darn, I didn't think it through."

"Obviously you didn't." Alice concurred with a general consensus after that.

Satori didn't like it, she occasionally got a glimpse of something from the human… but only vague and chaotic feelings, the four were clearly trying out some kind of spell, she could find no explanation nor a hint in their oni companions, "They have properly not told the onis of their magic experiment, How curious."

Utsuho and Rin came flying, and running respectively, to the front gate to see a bunch of people standing right outside.

"Why are there so many people here?" Utsuho was the first to say something.

"They want to party in our house." Satori muttered in a surprisingly monotone voice.

"In that case, I'll just blast them to atoms!" Utsuho put her hand on her arm cannon.

Then there was a shared look between them to see if everyone was ready to act in case of a real threat.

Rin stepped in front of her friend and waved her arms wildly, "No Okuu! A party is very fun! Believe me, you'll love it."

"Really?" Utsuho asked in eager sincerity, in the hopes that this would turn out to be a joyous occasion.

"You betcha we are *ZE*" Marisa was as usually grinning like an idiot.

"I'm curious to see if you are as good at drinking, as you are at melting rocks." Yuugi challenged Okuu to a new type of fight, one she was confident she could win at.

Utsuho didn't seem to understand, so Suika took affair, "If you… new, I'll show you… to party." Mumbled Suika; already pretty drunk, and handed her bottle to Utsuho, "Drink up, birdie."

The hell raven found the offer for no reason surprisingly tempting, "eh, what the heck." and with those words she downed as much as she could in one gulp.

"That's it, you god-eating black blimp." A special kind of smile was on Suika's face as she watched someone drink properly for the first time.

"Ah, that was refreshing." Utsuho not as soberly handed the bottle back to the little oni.

Yuugi landed a hand on the hell raven's shoulder, "Forgot to tell you last time, but name's Yuugi, you got my respect girl, lets be friends."

"Call me Okuu~" Utsuho gingerly giggled, as the giants gave each other a hug as a sign of a sealed pact, "let's be uranium and plutonium." She exclaimed in joy.

"That was so cu-ute… sis~" Rin exclaimed in blissful happiness.

Nitori leaned in and whispered to Marisa, "I want to know, who is who?"

"Good question," Marisa whispered back, not that she knew what they were talking about.

"My guess would be that Yuugi is uranium and Utsuho is plutonium." Alice laughed at the choice of words.

"Sounds logical." Nitori just added smilingly.

"You can have a party if you so desire, but please don't ruin anything." With those words, Satori backed away to let her uninvited guests enter her magnificent underground palace.

Satori had already given up, they had the control, that was for sure, but in the back of the group, two of the people were not as party hungry as the rest, the puppeteer and the purple witch, for some reason she was glad they were among them to calm the others down if need should arrive.

"It's too dark in here, we need to light up the place before a proper party can begin." Yuugi argued as she looked around the dim palace.

"Allow me." Marisa made an extravagant bow and summoned a powerful lightning spell.

"NO DANMAKU!" Satori shouted in fear of starting a fire in her house.

Utsuho pointed her cannon arm at Marisa, but Rin waved her arms to avoid starting a disastrous fight in the palace.

"Marisa you moron, think twice before you accidentally blow up the palace." Patchouli scolded the upbeat magician.

"Not my strong side... *ZE*" Marisa bumped her head with her knuckle and put forth her tongue.

"Well in that case, let's search the place top to bottom for something useful." Nitori suggested as she too looked around.

"Or… we could use my new non-harmful lasers that I created with parties in mind." Alice proudly offered her skills.

"I still want to search the funny things." Marisa insisted and began a search of her own.

The look on Satori's face revealed a lot of unease, "… you are sure that it will do no damage?!" It was really nagging her, that she couldn't read her mind and find the truth for herself.

"I promise, I tested them before taking them with me." Alice smiled proudly, for more than one reason.

In minutes, the self-proclaimed party guests were decorating the palace from top to bottom with everything they could find in the huge underground palace.

Rin loved the lightshow colors that Alice put in place, even before the party was started she was dancing round the place, Utsuho too found it intriguing and gladly lent a hand anywhere she could, while Satori didn't approve, she could easily understand the value of making her home more colorful, so she carefully didn't object.

The two onis were pouring an enormous amount of sake, 'as if' everyone happened to be onis too.

Satori had retreated to her library, she had already had her share of the fun for tonight, it was still nagging her that she didn't know how they could block her third eye's vision.

A knock came on the door, "may we come in?" Alice asked carefully, this was, after all, a private area.

"You may enter." Satori granted the two magician the privilege.

Alice entered, followed by Patchouli, into a room with at least a thousand books nicely shelved into beautiful golden-like bookshelves, "nice place you got here." The look of the room amazed Alice.

"I've have a passion for writing grand adventures." Satori told them in earnest.

"Oh really! I love stories, what kind of stories are we talking about?" Alice eagerly chippered, it was hard to find people with this pastime..

"Everything from grand adventures to dramas to detective novels and romances." Satori was trying to act casual when telling them.

It was everything Alice hoped it would be, "Cool …may I see some of your work?"

Satori lit up into a wide smile, "Certainly, it's extremely rare that anyone take an interest in my hobby, even my own pets aren't the reading types."

Both Alice and Patchouli came over to look at something Satori was in the process of writing, "This is the second book in my series, 'Demons of Light'." she explained passionately, since it was so rare for her to talk about her hobby with someone else, she was going to revel in it for as long as she could.

Alice found her story exciting, to the point of being breathless, as Satori told them the story, about how a group of five demons saved the abyss from being a place of only suffering.

Patchouli on the other hand, got bored very quickly of the story, "Sorry if I seem disinterested, you don't mind if I take a book and read it for myself?"

"Do as you like, all the books to your left are my own work, and the ones to your right are some I bought or have been given." Satori made a hand gesture to each pile.

Alice quickly counted, all in all, there were four hundred and thirteen books to the left, "So nearly half of them are your own work, very impressive."

In the meantime, Patchouli took a book from the left side, sat down in a free chair and began to read.

In the backyard

At this point, everyone were hanging out over entrances to the blazing flames below. All of them had at this point been drinking their brains out to no small degree.

"I want to go to the surface with you people!" Utsuho shouted, stomping her right foot into the ground for emphasis, with the repercussion that the ground beneath rumbled as a small earthquake, and losing most of the sake she had in her bowl, which was automatically refilled at once by Suika.

"I'll take you up there tomorrow." Rin promised her raven friend.

"No world domination! We can't have people taking over world, it's just… rude." Nitori was not thinking right due to the intoxication she experienced.

"If you take over the world, we'll just have take it back *ZE*" Marisa smirked confidently.

Utsuho mumbled something inaudible, then she just accepted the fact that her nuclear power couldn't fight off everyone at once, "Then I just visit that …Reimu girl, she makes nice tea."

"Visiting the shrine maiden is okay, just don't pee in her kitchen sink, she gets really mad, I'll tell you, she gives a nasty punch to the face." Marisa just casually informed with a handwave.

"Yeah, she can really beat people up, if she gets mad." Utsuho solemnly agreed.

Nitori's face took on a pale green colour, "That's… not really the sentence you should reply with! Marisa… Did you seriously pee in her kitchen?!"

"I was drunk and didn't know what way outside was." Marisa drunkenly explained.

"Marisa… sometimes… you are just… very weird." Nitori shook her head in disbelief.

"You are a weird human, such a rowdy likeable little human you are." Yuugi grinned while embracing the poor Marisa… roughly.

"You are too… all over me." Marisa's skin began to change colour slowly as she struggled to breathe.

Nitori began to really worry at the sight of skin discoloration, she knew enough about human anatomy that such a colour was not normal, "I think you are killing her, please don't!"

"If you are… CAN I HAVE THE CORPSE!?" Rin's expression was best explained as overjoyed and extremely hopeful.

"No you can't! She is mine if she dies that way, I can give her to Reimu as a gift!" The thought that, getting one of her friend's body didn't appeal to Reimu, had not crossed Suika's mind.

"COME ON *SIS* I REALLY WANT HER CORPSE!" Rin pleaded, how could they not understand how important it was to her.

"Over… my dead… body!" Marisa gasped, as Yuugi decided killing a drunken human would look bad on her, so she let go.

"Exactly right *sis*." Rin laughed as hard as she could, in fact she had to hold her stomach because it cramped up from laughing.

"Sorry about nearly killing you." Yuugi apologized and lowered her head in shame.

"I want to touch your horn, it looks funny." Marisa demanded out of the blue, her near death experience happily forgotten.

"Sure, go ahead." A pale blush could be seen on Yuugi's cheeks as a result of her guilty conscious.

"Can I touch it when she is done?" Utsuho asked, during their fight, it had struck her as odd the entire time.

"Can I touch your wings in return then? They look so soft." It was somewhat embarrassing to Yuugi the Strong, but she had a soft spot for fluffy things.

In Satori's study, while she was reading one of her books side by side with Alice, her third eye was suddenly fixated on Patchouli, where she got memories from Patchouli's mind.

"Haya Patchy, what's ya doing?" Marisa asked while leaning on Patchouli's shoulders.

Patchouli was doing her best to ignore the upstarting magician,"Working."

"What's ya working on *ZE*" Marisa kept pressing her for intel.

"And I replied... working" Patchouli's monotone voice rang out, Marisa wasn't worth getting annoyed over.

But Marisa hadn't giving up, she put her hands around Patchouli's neck and leaned on her head as she pretended to be her second half.

That got on Patchouli's neves, "Okay! Fine… I'm making a mental clouding spell, now GET OFF OF ME!"

The memory faded, then Satori's third eye turned to look at Alice next to her, to see if she could do the same to her.

"So if we gather enough Yoroto-deep-water we could go down to the underworld with no fear of being mindread?" It was a fun notion and an exciting experiment, so Alice was totally on board with it.

"Indeed, with that we could go down there with no worries." Patchouli turned to the other person present and asked, "Marisa, couldn't you get in contact with your kappa friend? Her help in gathering Yoroto-deep-water would make it much easier for us"

"I got a swimming suit, I got it covered." Marisa was pretty smug about it.

"You mean the one you nearly drowned in?" Alice asked, well to be fair, she tried to not laugh in her face.

"Minor setback, I survived, didn't I?" Marisa grinned, her definition of setbacks, was that because she only 'almost' drowned it was nothing major and could be dealt with.

"I suggest you get your kappa friend to help, before you lie unconscious a hundred feet below the surface, that would be a major setback, even for someone as 'magnificent' as yourself..." Patchouli made a snarky jab at Marisa.

As the memory faded Satori got to thinking, "So... they have used Yoroto-deep-water to obscure my inner eye, which means, they do not truly know how my third eye sees through their thoughts and feelings." Satori's face on the outside was expressionless, but inside… she was smiling.

"Seeing as how you've read the books I've written, with the inspiration that I've gotten from looking inside the hearts of others, do you think you could let see into your minds? I course I won't go looking for private memories, you have my word." Satori promised them.

"Ahm… you can't, you see…" Alice began to explain.

But Satori cut in, "Let me share a secret, your spell needs practice, Yoroto-deep-water is not the only ingredient you would need." She couldn't help but have an evil smile on her lips.

Alice and Patchouli sat frozen as the words sunk in, "You-you mean… you could read our minds all this time!"

Satori nodded and told them, "It was a bit harder to do than usual, but yes I can still read your mind."

"Back to the drawing board… for me." Patchouli uttered with a great sigh, no pointing in hiding the fact.

"Don't feel bad, you did an admirable try to cloud your hearts in a magical mist, it even worked at first, but next time I suggest you don't storm my palace to test your spell en massé.

"I can't make any promises, but I'll try to reign them in." Alice chuckled at the prospect of trying to hold them all with lassos.

Patchouli off-handedly talked about her miscalculation, "Subtlety is my favorite method, unfortunately a certain witch got wind of my research… and thus we have the current impromptu party." Satori gave a quick nod, she had seen the chaos.

Satori handed them both three ruby red books, "Here friends, these are my finest work,"

"Thank you miss Satori." Alice was radiating joy, to the trained eye, she would have an aura around her, "I look forward to reading them for myself when I get home."

"Thank you," Satori returned the smile, "with both of your knowledge, I hope to make even better stories in the future."

Patchouli on the other hand just looked at them with minor interest, "Great… story books, like I'll ever have time for such."

"And… do me a favor, speak of this to no one, I'd like them to think that they can still hide from my third eye." Satori grinned widely.

They decided to rejoin the party guests, Satori looked out over the mess, "Before you all go home, could you clean up my palace… I know if you are lying."

Since two of them didn't know about the failure of the mind clouding, they simply laughed at her.

A little later Marisa was beginning to feel off centered and felt the need to show she wasn't afraid of anyone, "You know little raven *hic*, yur awesum, but my little Hakkero bwaby here, you can't compwete pith dat!" She held the Hakkero in her hands… though not with that tight of a grip, she couldn't control her arms that well.

It took a minute or so before Utsuho got the notion, that she was being challenged, "That's sooo not true, *hic* I'm a… *hic* sun, you are a… person, *hic* compwete… better 'n ...you."

"A' right, you are up blacky." Marisa stood up, wavering as she tried to maintain balance.

Utsuho had no such trouble, but when she pointed her cannon arm, it was wavering a great deal.

Satori was too wasted by Suika's sake to intervene, she just hoped it was all a dream and tomorrow everything was back to normal.

The rest of the night, Marisa and Utsuho competed in who could blow up the most stuff, Marisa will never admit that she lost spectacularly to the nuclear powered hell raven.
