A/N: It's late, I'm tired, and this is unedited. I'll probably wake up and fix any mistakes found in this chapter. Sorry in advance!
[LONG A/N continued at the end].
"Aw man, it's still raining outside."
Yang kept her face planted at the window as she peered down into the nighttime streets of Atlas. Though usually there were a few people dotting the walkways and shops near the palace where she stayed, tonight there seemed to be barely anyone. The rain proved to deter anyone from roaming the streets this night, save for the lone patrolling guard she spotted every few minutes.
Sighing to herself dejectedly, Yang moved away from the window and looked towards the inside of her room. She instantly spotted her little sister Ruby cleaning her weapon with a small smile on her face, which caused Yang's mood to brighten just a tad bit.
Though she wanted to roam the streets of Salta one final time before they embarked on their return voyage to Vale in a few hours, Yang was perfectly content to stay the night inside and hang out with her baby sister.
It's been four days since they had been reunited and Yang couldn't have been happier. It almost seemed as if things were looking up again. She found Ruby again, her and Weiss' relationship was improving greatly; to the point of the two of them taking nightly walks around the city these past couple of days, and generally, Yang just felt… free. It felt as if a giant weight had been lifted off her chest. Of course save for the fact that Ironwood declined Weiss' plea for reinforcements to Vale, everything was alright.
Sighing once more, Yang stood up and walked over to where her sister was cleaning her weapon on the bed and sat down next to the girl. The moment she sat down, Ruby glanced up at her and smiled brightly. Powerless to her little sister's cheery smile, Yang chuckled and playfully bumped Ruby's shoulder with her own before wrapping and arm around the girl.
"You've been cleaning your weapon non-stop ever since we came back to the palace earlier today Rubes. You expectin' trouble or something?" Yang joked casually as she watched her sister roll her eyes.
Ruby only shrugged before she leaned her head on Yang's shoulder, still idly rubbing her weapon with a cloth.
Sitting like this, embracing her sister with the light pitter-patter of the rain outside let Yang find a warm center in herself. It was times like this that she truly appreciated the moments when her life was calm. She wouldn't trade occasions like these for the world. Though she knew it couldn't last forever, she held onto these moments and held them dear.
As both she and Ruby sat there on the bed in silence, Yang thought back to Vale. They'd be thrust right back into the war. She only hoped that everyone back at Fort Beacon was faring well. She knew the weather was a lot worse in Vale when compared to Atlas. Just another thing she was going to miss about this exotic country, it was wonderfully warm; even with the rain outside. She knew once they started sailing back towards Vale that it'd be snowing.
All in all, this trip to Atlas was like a majestic vacation. She did always want to visit the foreign country. Who knew that she'd do it in the middle of a war.
Feeling a nudge at her side, Yang glanced down at her little sister. Ruby's silver eyes were locked onto her own before the smaller girl smirked up at her. Yang could only hug her sister tighter at that before breaking out into a smile herself.
But the sisterly moment was cut short as a short knock was heard at the door. Tentatively separating herself from Ruby, Yang stood up slowly and walked towards the door. Though she had an idea of who it would be, her stomach still twisted itself in a nervous knot. Something about Weiss ever since the girl had told her how she honestly felt caused Yang to become a little nervous around her General. Of course it wasn't a bad nervous, it was the kind that gave her butterflies whenever she thought about her. Like the old tales she heard about when she was but a naïve child.
Reaching the door now in her room, the blonde grasped the doorknob for a moment before exhaling quietly. Pulling the door open, she was greeted with a dimly lit white haired girl that she'd recognize from anywhere.
"Weiss."
Yang hadn't even meant to utter her name but the word just escaped her lips involuntarily.
But as she looked into those blue eyes belonging to Weiss, she noticed that the girl in fact wore a small smile as she held a small candle that illuminated her face while casting dark shadows behind her.
Yang wasn't even sure how long she stood standing at the door, looking down at Weiss, but it was when the shorter girl coughed awkwardly that broke Yang from her stupor.
"O- Oh right, come on in!" Yang stuttered as she opened the door wider and giving Weiss room to enter the room.
Watching Weiss shut the door behind her and doing a quick one over in the room, Yang took her earlier seat next to her sister Ruby who gave the newcomer a small wave, to which Weiss returned.
"I'm surprised you haven't trashed this room, Yang." Weiss noted as she ran a finger over one of the tables. "Though I suppose you haven't had much of a chance to wreck it, we've only been here for about five days."
The blonde however snorted in reply.
"Geeze Weiss, you really still have such a low impression of me, huh?"
But as the words left Yang's lips, she spotted Ruby roll her eyes before silently nodding her head. Even Weiss had noticed the redheaded girl's gesture as she chuckled.
"Yes Yang and it seems as if even Ruby agrees with me, right?" The General asked towards the younger sister who nodded in response.
Letting out a mock hurt gasp, Yang held a hand over her chest. "You both wound me so! But come on… I'm not that bad…"
Weiss only shrugged as she leaned against one of the nightstands present in the guestroom. But the mood of the General grew serious then as Weiss' earlier smile faded.
Setting the candle down that she held and crossing her arms, Weiss bore into Yang's eyes with a tired expression. So much so, that even the blonde could feel fatigue creeping into her body as she stared back.
"Well Weiss, I know you didn't come here to tuck me in good night…" Yang uttered in a half-joking manner but she got her answer in a slow headshake from Weiss.
"No Yang that… wasn't why I came." She replied with a sigh. "As you know, we're setting off tomorrow before the sun's rise."
Yang nodded her head as she listened, she and the rest of her Vanguard knew of this already. Their ship, The Queen's Vessel, was repaired thanks in no small part to Ironwood and his dockworkers. They worked day in and day out to get the massive warship sea worthy once again, and a fine job they did. So much so that even Quarter Master Ria had commented that Admiral Port would have been proud.
"I spoke with Ria earlier, and she's agreed to drop us off at the port town of Lakecrest instead of sailing all the way back to the kingdom." Weiss stated in her commanding tone. "From there we can march towards Fort Beacon and link back with the bulk of our forces in no more than two days' time."
Yang went over the General's plan in her head and agreed with her decision of cutting out journeying back to the Kingdom.
"How about the forces that we left back at the castle? Are we just leaving them there?" Yang asked as she remembered the soldiers who had stayed behind from when they first set sail to Atlas.
Weiss nodded her head then as if she had already calculated that into her plans.
"Yes, we just don't have the time to pick them up. If we sail all the way back to the kingdom and march to Fort Beacon from there, it'd take us at least a week tops. We just don't have the time." Weiss stated once again.
"We can send word to them once we link up with our Beacon force though." She added in quickly.
Yang only nodded at Weiss, though she wasn't really looking forward to sailing back to Vale. It felt as if this "vacation" was ending too soon. Also she couldn't shake the feeling that once they went back to Vale that … whatever had transpired between her and Weiss would vanish. It was a selfish and childish thought, Yang knew that, but she couldn't shake the odd feeling she got.
"Sounds good to me, General." Yang uttered as she gave the girl a thumbs up. "Though, are you sure your father won't mind you not showing up and giving your report of what went down here in Atlas?"
Yang watched as Weiss averted her eyes. It looked like she already knew the answer to that but she'd been trying not to think about it.
"I know that the King will be… most displeased with my decision in not returning to the Kingdom and instead traveling back to my campaign, but he'll just have to deal with it I suppose."
Yang raised an eyebrow at that but otherwise said nothing. She had noticed that Weiss and her parents, the King and Queen, didn't see eye to eye on most things. But for her to downright go out of her way to possibly ignore the King's wishes.
Maybe I'm not the only one who's changed.
"Well, you know I'll be behind you no matter what you choose to do, Weiss." Yang announced with a smile before she felt a nudge at her ribs.
"And Ruby too of course!" She quickly added as she spotted her younger sister smile brightly and nod her head.
For Weiss though, the white haired girl shook her head slowly as she smirked at the girl's words. Indeed she knew that, she knew it about all her soldiers. They trusted her and she wouldn't forsake that trust. She'd do her best; for them, for Vale, and for herself.
"I know Yang." Weiss spoke finally as she pushed herself off the nightstand she was leaning against. "And I thank you for it."
But before Yang could even think of something to say to tease Weiss, the white haired girl stepped towards the door as if to leave.
"But get some sleep you two; we leave for Vale in a few hours."
Yang only swallowed down what she was going to say and nodded her head. She watched the white haired General reach the door and pull it open before she glanced over her shoulder.
"Good night you two."
Both Yang and Ruby waved in response and with that, Weiss left the room.
"Where you headin' off to so late? You know it's rainin' out, right?"
Jacinth glanced up from her boots that she was tying and looked at Sun. The blonde monkey Faunus' eyes clearly glazed over as if he had been drinking, to which no doubt he most likely had been. Snuck into the main palace's storeroom, if she had to guess.
Tying the last knot in her boot, Jacinth stood up from her bed and made her way towards their shared room's door. Though she and Sun had been rooming together these past few days during their stay here in Atlas, they had gotten along fairly well. But she was hoping that the boy wouldn't have asked her anything as she was about to leave.
Turning to the still drunk Sun who was eyeing her from his bed on the other side of the room, Jay adopted her best nonchalant smile that she could muster.
"I'm just going to admire my last day here in Atlas, I'll be back soon."
She silently held her breath as she watched the blonde boy, but he only nodded his head sluggishly as it looked as if he was already succumbing to sleep. She heard him mumble something under his breath but even with her enhanced Faunus hearing, she didn't know what he said.
I've wasted enough time.
Casting one last look towards the blonde haired boy as he slowly drifted to sleep; Jay quietly let herself out of the room without a sound.
Though the moment she clicked the door shut, a loud and thunderous boom echoed through the palace halls, quickly causing her to jump.
"It's only thunder Jacinth. Though I never figured you to be a jumpy one."
Feeling herself almost jump in shock again, Jay turned around and was met with Weiss as the white haired girl held a candle in her hand which illuminated her face. Quietly cursing herself for not noticing that someone was behind her, Jacinth forced herself to chuckle.
"Ah, well, I am a cat, ya know." She joked as she pointed towards her Faunus ears.
She kept her eyes on the other girl's body language though, assessing if Weiss was suspicious of anything, but the shorter General only let out a small giggle.
"That's true." Weiss uttered. "I suppose it's only natural then for you to be jumpy during a storm."
Nodding her head in agreement but wanting to get out of the conversation quickly, the lioness Faunus tried to think of a way to get the other girl moving.
"Where are you heading anyway?" Weiss asked suddenly as she looking Jacinth up and down curiously. "You know that we're heading out in a few hours… don't tell me you're going to go out and drink with Nora again."
Jacinth suppressed a shudder at the hearing of that. Personally, she couldn't stand the fiery orange haired girl and her loud and obnoxious attitude. Though she kept it to herself, she had no idea why everyone though that the two of them were good friends.
"No, of course not." She answered shortly. "I'm just going out to enjoy the sights of Salta one last time, General."
It was… technically the truth. Somewhat.
She watched as Weiss suppressed a yawn before nodding.
"But it's raining, I thought cats hated water." She asked with a hint of a smile on her face.
Noticing that Weiss was attempting to joke about what she had said earlier, Jacinth forced herself to smile before answering,
"That's why I've got my coat on."
She watched Weiss as the shorter girl nod as if she approved before walking past her, back towards her own room.
"Just don't stay out too late, Jay. Have a good night." She called out over her shoulder.
For Jacinth though, she had no plans to adhere to any of that.
Watching the dim light from Weiss' candle fade out from when she turned a corner down the hall, Jacinth took that as her queue to move. Quickly walking down the stairs of the Salta palace, the passed a few patrolling guards who gave her a curious look but otherwise said nothing to her. There were still a few servants and people walking about on the lower floors of the palace so she didn't really stick out too much.
Not yet anyways.
Reaching the massive doors that led to the courtyard of the palace, Jacinth pushed them open and was immediately assaulted by the rain. Though that wasn't the main thing that gave her pause… It was the lightning that cackled up in the sky.
She had always loved lightning storms. She'd always watch them with her older brother back before… the war.
Shaking the memories from her mind, the lioness Faunus pulled the hood of her cloak up and fastened her jacket before stepping out into the hectic rain. Though the courtyard and surrounding streets that she quickly walked through were dark, she could see her path perfectly. Her Faunus vision easily illuminating everything around her.
She couldn't have asked for a better night than tonight. The rain and storm causing almost all of Salta's citizens to remain indoors and the patrolling guardsmen to be lax in their duties in fear of being rained on. It'd make her job tonight much easier than it should have been.
As she quickly walked the abandoned streets of the capitol, Jacinth mapped out her plan once again in her mind. Quickly tapping the two foreign short swords that hung on the inside of her cloak, she smiled grimly. Once again she knew it was a good idea to buy different weapons for this mission instead of using her original blades. These new ones were smaller, more compact, and let her adopt a more… brutal stance.
She was ever thankful for the stroke of luck on this information she had heard. A few days ago when Weiss had informed the Vanguard that Atlas had captured a Roman Torchwick and was holding him in the jails, Jacinth had to fight to keep herself from asking questions about the man. Though she knew who Torchwick was, the man was one of the ones employing the White Fang after all…
Her brother's mercenary company.
Though she hadn't seen or spoken to her brother in a few years now, ever since he tasked her with infiltrating Vale, she couldn't help but be curious as to why Roman was here in Atlas. Last she heard the White Fang was focused solely on helping Haven takeover Vale.
"But I'll find out soon enough." She muttered under her breath as she rounded another corner in the desolate streets of Salta.
Though the rain relentlessly continued with thunder and lightning piercing the night sky often, Jay kept her eyes in front of her. She scanned the roads twice over not letting anyone get the jump on her. This mission was too important to screw up. Though she wasn't supposed to be doing anything to "make her suspicious" as her brother had told her, she was still a White Fang at heart. If there was something she could do to help her brothers and sisters cause back home, she'd do it.
Just like before. Just like back in Cambridge.
Seeing a flash of the old Vanguard in her mind caused Jacinth to feel something akin to regret. She had tricked them to their deaths. Though it almost caused her to lose her life as well…
Though they were ultimately her enemy, it didn't mean that she didn't care for them in her own way. Duncan especially. She wished there had been another way, but they simply were on the wrong side. She didn't allow herself to falter then and she sure as hell wouldn't let herself falter now.
Everything that she'd done these past years would finally come to fruition. The White Fang would finally have a home. Her people would finally have a home. No more traveling, no more contracts, no more killing to feed themselves…
Spotting her destination now, Jacinth crouched down in the shadow of the building she was next to and looked around. She only spotted one lone guard standing at the entrance to the jails as a lone torch was lit next to him. Even from where she stood, Jay could see the man's obvious sour features as he stood idly in the rain, most likely bored.
She had watched the guard's positions for the last couple of days ever since she had heard about Roman's capture. She memorized the times and routes that the patrols would change shifts and the like, and judging by the time it was now, she knew that the guards have just switched to the night shift. She'd have plenty of time to carry out her… rescue. She knew she had a few hours until she and the rest of the Vanguard would set sail to Vale, so her escape route was set. She only hoped that everything she had in her mind would go to plan. By the time the morning shift would come to the jails, she would be long gone out at sea and Roman would hopefully have found his way to escape the city.
Gripping one of the many throwing knives she carried on her person, Jacinth silently said a prayer to herself and aimed the slender steel blade towards the unfortunate man who was unlucky enough to have to stand guard tonight…
Sore.
Everything was sore.
Or broken.
Or bleeding.
Groaning to himself as he tried to find a comfortable position to lie down in without hurting, Roman brushed his hair out of his eyes and coughed, instantly tasting blood on his tongue.
"Shut up in there!" One of the guards called out.
Clenching his fists in anger, Roman willed himself to only cough louder, though it hurt him more to do so.
Oh well, whatever to piss them off.
He heard two of his guards mutter something to one another before the sound of cards reached his ears again. From where his cell was though, he couldn't see the men, but he could hear them.
Rolling over to his side on the hard dusty floor of his cell, Roman closed his eyes and let his mind wander. He couldn't believe that he had been captured. And by the 1st Legion no less. He remembered specifically telling those stupid animals that he was in command of to scour the wilds for the famed Atlas unit and to make absolutely sure that they wouldn't find their camp.
Useless! Absolutely useless! All of them!
He was never quite fond of Faunus, especially the White Fang, but when he was… coerced into working for Haven, Cinder had tasked him with working directly with the animals. More so ever since his screw up in Sanctum. He could only imagine the Empress' face when she heard about his capture in Atlas. Though he still wasn't sure as to why he was tasked with coming here. He was only told to cause as much mayhem that he could, which was much easier said than done. The soldiers here in Atlas were of a different breed than the ones in Vale.
He wondered if any of the White Fang members who were at the camp before it was raided made it out alive. He didn't doubt it; he had a feeling that most of them were cowards and probably fled during the battle which resulted in his capture.
He knew that Cinder placed way too much trust into those wild mercenaries. Promising them enough land for them to start their own settlement or whatever was simply the wrong thing to do. It was leadership basics, never make wild claims and rewards to soldiers to get them to do what you want; more so mercenaries.
But… he knew he had no right to lecture the woman on that. Not when he was lured over to Haven's side in a similar fashion. Though it was Head Councilman Ozpin who had promised him a prestigious leadership position in the new vision of Vale that would be, after the Schnee royal family was dealt with of course. No more would he be a lowly commander of a bunch of vagabonds.
No.
He'd be a glorious General. One such that would rival the three great Vale families. The Torchwick name would live on in greatness.
If only he hadn't been captured.
Groaning to himself once more, the orange haired man silently cursed his capturer and torturer, the brown haired 1st Legion Captain.
Commander Coco Adel if I remember correctly.
The girl only introduced herself once when she had begun probing him for information. Though he initially resisted the girl's questions and torture, smart ass remarks could only get him so far. The girl was brutal in her punishment, slicing under his fingertips, water boarding him, and even punching him in his ribs with her steel plated gauntlets.
It was the main reason why he couldn't lie down comfortably at the moment.
But still, he resisted. He wasn't even sure how many days have passed but with each waking moment, he contemplated giving in. Was it really worth all this pain to achieve his goal? Would he even ever reach it now that he was captured?
All his life, he lived to his creed that only the strongest survive. He knew he had done some despicable things in his time but he always had a justifiable reason for doing so. Even if they were only beneficial to him. He'd always found a way to scrape by with his life.
Though he wasn't sure if this time would be one of them. Perhaps… he had burned too many bridges for him to escape with his life this time. He was almost positive that whatever White Fang members who were under his command that yet lived wouldn't be coming to his rescue.
He was doomed.
He felt a cold shiver trail down his bruised back at that realization. He was going to die. Die in a foreign land, all but forgotten…
"Where did I go wrong?" He asked in a raspy voice to no one in particular.
Shifting himself towards the wall of his cell, he sat himself upright, albeit painfully, so that he had his back to the wall. He knew he wouldn't be able to get any sleep with the amount of pain he was in so he stopped trying.
He sat there and listened. Though there were no windows in his musky and dark cell, the only light source coming from somewhere down the hallway, he could hear the faint sounds of rain and thunder.
He suddenly grew slightly homesick but shoved the sentiment aside. As he continued listening to the faint sounds of rain clattering away outside the walls he was sure he'd never leave again, Roman noticed something.
The guards' earlier laughing and card playing… he didn't hear them any longer.
They couldn't be changing shifts yet, he would have noticed them walking by his cell.
Curious now, Roman slowly got to his feet and shambled towards his cell door in an attempt to look down the hallway. Though the bars were spaced too small for him to fit his head through, he could see the torch that was lit and casting shadows on the floor. But other than the small crackling of the flame and the faint sounds of the rain outside… he heard nothing.
Swallowing nervously now, Roman wet his lips before glancing down both sides of the empty hallway.
"Hello?" He called out softly.
He had an odd feeling in his stomach now. It didn't take a genius to figure out that something here was wrong. He strained to look past his bars once more towards where his guards were usually stationed but still, he couldn't see anything…
But he heard something.
It sounded like a jingle. Almost like the set of keys that his jailers held.
Feeling anticipation building in his chest now, Roman felt his adrenaline pump. He didn't know why but the small spark of faith that he had thought was extinguished had reignited itself once again. Was someone here to save him? Who could it have been? Was he going to live?
He stared down the hall, his eyes fixated on the ground where the shadows lay, until he spotted one of them move. Quickly and quietly, a figure cloaked in a drenched deep brown hooded cloak stalked down the hallway and right towards him.
Roman kept his eyes fixated on the figure who obviously wasn't a guard or soldier of Atlas. But his eyes trailed down the cloaked figure down to their hands… which gripped a ring of keys.
In the first time in days, Roman felt himself smile. He wasn't dying today.
"H- Hurry! Get me out of here!" He exclaimed happily as he gripped the bars of his cell in anticipation, no longer caring about the pain in his body.
He watched the figure turn their head towards him before now walking with a sense of purpose towards his cell door.
"Roman Torchwick." The hooded figure spoke in a familiar female voice. "It's been quite a while."
The orange haired man felt himself jolt a bit at the voice but maintained his smirk. He knew who it was, though he never thought he'd be seeing her again, let alone being rescued by her.
He watched the girl fidget with the key ring before he cut in,
"It's the silver one with the rectangular head." He pointed out quickly.
He watched her pick out the one he said and it was when he heard the sweet click of freedom that his cell door opened with a creaky groan.
"Freedom." He breathed out as he took a shaky step towards the open door now before turning towards his unlikely savior. "Though I would have never guessed that you'd be the one to rescue me…"
He watched as the girl finally lowered her hood, instantly recognizing her features. Though the girl's name escaped him, he knew her brother.
"Who sent you?" He asked quickly as he slowly stepped out into the hallway, glancing both ways for any guards who might have been heading their way.
"No one." The girl answered shortly.
Turning back to face the lioness Faunus, Roman gave her a perplexed look. If no one sent her here… then why was she rescuing him?
"Then… how did you know I was here?" He asked then.
The girl however ignored his question and jogged back down the hallway from where she came. Roman quickly followed, albeit painfully. With every step he took, he felt all of his injuries flare.
"A little bird told me." She finally called out over her shoulder.
Sucking his teeth in annoyance, he now remembered that he didn't much care for the girl from when he first met her. Memories of her complaining to her brother, who was the leader of the White Fang mercenaries, about how she didn't trust him or Haven. She had been a thorn in Haven's side since even before they were recruited into the fold. It was only when Cinder promised them land as well as payment for their services that the White Fang pledged themselves to Haven's cause.
All because of that little brat.
"Oh? I didn't know there were Faunus birds." Roman spat as he spotted three dead guards around a wooden table. Each with their throats slit.
"And I didn't know you could still be such a racist asshole." Was his answer as the girl shot him an annoyed glare before looking forward again.
Deciding to keep his mouth shut for the time being, he continued following his would be savior down the ascending hallway. Though now he could hear rain and thunder much more clearly, he also spotted a trail of dead guards around him. To say he was impressed was an understatement. Not that he would admit it.
Spotting the girl in front of him come to a halt, Roman followed suit as well, hunching over as his chest ached.
"You need to get out of the city, quickly." She told him as she slowly pulled open the door they had stopped at, looking both ways outside.
He could see and hear the rain now, the warm humid air blowing over his sweaty and bleeding skin. He welcomed the feeling as he breathed in the fresh air.
"I can do that." He finally replied. "Though you still didn't tell me how you found out I was captured… Not that I'm complaining of course!" He quickly added. He wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth.
"You'll find out soon enough." The cloaked girl said cryptically once again. "If you manage to make it back to Vale without screwing up that is." She added in a condescending tone that Roman despised.
"Faunus bitch." Was all he uttered as she pushed the door open fully.
He followed outside behind her, instantly cursing as the rain hit his open cuts and bruises. He wasn't dressed for the occasion of course, only wearing dirty trousers and his boots, but he'd make due. After all, he was a survivor.
He looked towards the girl again as she scanned the surrounding area once more before she met his gaze. He could see the slight glow of her Faunus eyes as they peered through the night before he saw a hint of a smirk on her face.
"I'd hurry up if I were you." She mentioned before she unsheathed one of her blades and handed it to him.
Gripping the weapon in his hand, Roman frowned in disgust. The blade reminded him that his treasured rapier was gone now, confiscated or lost. But he'd make do with this… peasant sword.
Stretching his sore limbs and silently praying that his body wouldn't fail him now in his escape from this city, he couldn't help but smile. The very freedom that he thought had abandoned him… has given him one last chance to embrace it.
Without another word though, the Faunus girl dashed away from him and the building before rounding a corner at a quick pace.
As he watched the girl vanish from sight as she sprinted into the darkness and rain, it only motivated him to follow her example. He knew that time was most definitely not on his side, and even if he escaped the city and made it outside the walls, it'd only be a matter of hours before the city of Salta would be in pursuit. Especially with all the dead guards in the jails.
But he knew that he was nothing if not resourceful. He'd escape.
He always did.
Roman Torchwick's time wasn't over. The world still wouldn't be rid of him just yet.
With a sword in his hand and fresh air in his lungs, the bruised and battered traitor of a commander quickly scanned his surroundings once more before limping his way down the darkened streets of Salta.
Who knew that that little girl would be the one to rescue me. She's all grown up it seems…
Long A/N: Well then, unexpected huh? Sorry if it got a little clustered towards the end but the whole Jay (Jacinth) being the younger sister of Jason (if you remember him. The White Fang leader who killed a certain pair of people back in chapter 13) just came to me during this chapter. I thought it'd be a fun touch.
But yes, if you weren't sure if Jay was a traitor yet, it's sure as hell obvious now where her true allegiance lies. Though I haven't went too deep in her place in the story, I will more in the second arc of Winds. Along with a few more other characters who will play an important part later on.
One final thing I've been toying with in my mind (a few of you know who I've been PMing). I've been wondering if I should create a sequel to this story. We are fast approaching the 2nd arc (About 2-3 more chapters until then) and I already have an ending planned for this story. Though, I recently came up with an alternative ending which will close out the main plot of this story but leave some things open ended which can lead to a sequel. Though I already have plans and ideas for a sequel, it wouldn't be focused on the RWBY cast mainly. It'd have strong elements of the RWBY cast present with some chapters even focused on the team, but this one would follow some familiar names (Snowflake anyone?).
Anyways, like I said, still toying with the idea. Just thought I'd let you guys know. If you want some more information of are in favor of a sequel, let me know in the review or PM! If not... Well... I don't know. Lol.
Maybe I'll make a poll later on.
Okay, sorry. This was a long A/N! Good night everyone!
