Chapter FORTY-SEVEN: Disaster Strikes
As the group of seven made their way back to Neal's apartment, they were all talking to one another. In front were, Mr Gold, Belle, the Professor and Henry; in the middle was Strax; and at the end were Neal and Emma.
"So, shall I call you 'Grandpa' and 'Grandma' now?" Henry asked Mr Gold and Belle.
"Henry, Belle and Rumple aren't married yet. Til they do, why not you just call Rumple 'Grandpapa', huh?" The Professor said. "May even be sentimental to him..."
"Henry can call me whatever he likes," Mr Gold said, in an unhappy tone. He was too busy thinking about Henry being his undoing to be his cheerful self.
"Why not you spend some time with Strax?" The Professor asked Henry, as he went back to walk with Strax.
While they were having the conversation at the front, Neal said, "He's a good kid."
"Yeah," Emma said.
"Hey, I'm trying my best here."
"I know. We all are. It's just, we're gonna have to go back. To our home."
"I'm just getting to know him."
"Well, then maybe … Maybe you should come with us...?"
"To Storybrooke?"
"I've seen your apartment. You don't got a lot going on here."
"Look's can be deceiving," Neal said, then stopped. "Listen, there's something I've meant to tell you. It's complicated..."
But before Neal could say what he wanted to say – about Tamara – Henry walked up to them, as they were outside his apartment block. "So, Neal, do you think we can take a subway?"
Neal turned to Henry. "Yeah. Sure, of course. Let's go get that camera."
They all walked up to the apartment building – with Henry in the lead. He opened the door and Mr Gold held it open for the rest of them to enter.
The Professor turned to Strax, and said, "Stay out here. Be lookout. Warn us if anyone comes up."
"Sir," Strax said hesitantly and stood with his back against the door.
Once the rest was in the lobby, Neal let Henry through the gates, and started to walk up to his apartment, while the rest stayed in the lobby.
Mr Gold walked over to the gates and turned around, and asked Emma, "So, uh … did you talk to him?"
"He said it's complicated..." Emma said, when the door opened and Strax entered.
"There seems to be a human male fastly approaching the building," Strax said.
"What does he look like?" The Professor asked.
"He has a Hook for a hand and a leather jacket."
After hearing his description, the Professor muttered, "Hook." He then opened up the gate and instructed everyone to get in. "Emma. Belle. You first." They did what was told of them, but before Mr Gold could follow them, the door opened again, and Hook entered the lobby. The Professor tried to block Hook's path, but Hook pushed him out of the way, and went straight to Mr Gold.
He pushed him to the gates, and stabbed his hook into his heart, and watched as Mr Gold sank slowly to the ground. "Tick-tock..." Hook began, but the Professor turned around, and waved his hand, and magically threw Hook across the room, where he banged his head on the door, and went unconscious.
The Professor got up, as Emma and Belle went back into the lobby, where Belle crouched down beside the wounded Mr Gold. "Rumple..." Belle said, as tears flowed from her eyes.
"It'll be alright..." Mr Gold said, trying to reassure Belle, though he didn't know if he'll live himself.
Neal came down from his apartment running down the stairs. He had heard some loud noises from the lobby and he wondered what was going on. "What the Hell's going on?" He asked, as he went through the gate.
"One of your dad's enemies found us..." Emma said, looking back at Neal.
Neal looked around til he saw Hook's unconscious body on the floor. "Hook..." he whispered.
"You know him...?" Emma asked.
Neal's attention went back to his father, and let his fingers touch the stab wound on Mr Gold's chest. He pulled them away and saw blood. "Papa...?" He whispered.
