Hey guys, as you can see I am trying to get these chapters to you as soon as I can. I think the fact that I have finished the rough drafts of the rest of this story is giving me the motivation to finish this story. I hope you like this chapter, much love RSD xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo.

A lot of things happened over the last week; last Wednesday Harry came back to the common room late one night and told me, Ron and Ginny that he had figured out his egg. He told me that if you hold the egg under the water you hear a different noise to the usual scream that normally erupted from it. He told me the song that came from the egg and I quickly wrote it down; yes Harry had to figure out the egg by himself. But by the looks of it the other champions were getting help so why shouldn't we help Harry any way we could.

Harry also wrote everything down in a letter to Sirius detailing everything he had found out about his egg. He hoped that Sirius would be able to give him some hints; and I hoped so as well. Sirius might be able to see the second task differently to me, Harry, Ron and Ginny and might be able to offer some advice that we might miss.

Harry also wrote in his letter that on the way back from the prefect's bathroom he accidently walked past Professor Snape and Karkaroff; apparently Professor Karkaroff was saying that there was a problem with his dark mark on his left arm. This was starting to scare me; if old death eaters were having problems with their dark marks this told me that something sinister was heading our way.

Thankfully a couple of days after sending Sirius a letter he responded; however his letter didn't really say anything. The only thing he asked for was the date for the next Hogsmede visit - which Harry quickly replied to. Maybe seeing Sirius would calm Harry's mind; yes a lot of things were being thrown his way at the moment but hopefully he will feel reassured that we are here for him - like always.

It is now the early morning of the second task and we were nowhere near finding out a way how Harry was going to conquer the second task. Me, Harry and Ron were in the library; Ginny was with us until one but Ron sent her to bed. She was falling asleep in the library and Harry didn't think it was right that Ginny wasn't getting enough sleep.

"This is hopeless!" Harry exclaimed as he slammed his hands down on the wooden desk in despair.

"No it isn't" I disagreed.

"We still have time" I added hoping that this would reassure him. I really couldn't believe that me, Ron and Harry couldn't find a way out of this. We probably had been against a lot worse over the last four years!

"Mione the task is in two hours" Harry sighed as he looked at me sadly.

"We will manage it" Ron added.

"When has there been a time when we haven't?" he asked rhetorically.

"Miss Grainger, Mr Weasley" I heard a tired and hoarse voice say. Me and Ron both turned around to see Professor Moody looking at us. He had a stern look on his face; I really hoped that we weren't about to get into trouble for helping Harry. But saying that Professor Moody himself had even helped Harry in the first task; so I quickly dismissed this from my mind.

"Yes Professor Moody?" I answered nervously.

"Professor McGonagall would like to see the pair of you" he advised.

"When?" Ron asked uncertainly. Yes Professor Moody might turn a blind eye; but I didn't know whether Professor McGonagall would do the same.

"Now" he stated.

"If you would both be so kind" he pressed as he tilted his head to one side slightly.

"But we need to help Harry" Ron pressed.

"Harry can help himself" Professor Moody quickly returned.

"In fact I think you need to get some sleep Mr Potter" he said as he looked Harry slowly up and down.

"Yes Sir" Harry yawned.

"Mr Longbottom can help you put your books away" Professor Moody stated as he turned around and I watched as Neville appeared. I don't know why Neville was in the library at this time; but I didn't really have the time to ask before Professor Moody spoke again.

"I don't think Professor McGonagall is going to take too kindly if you keep her waiting" Professor Moody said sternly.

"I guess we will see you later Harry" Ron said as we both stood up.

"Yeah" he smiled meekly.

"See you later" me and Ron said together as we picked our bags up and slung them over our shoulders.

"I wonder why she wants to see us" Ron yawned as we both turned and started to head for the library's exit.

"I have no idea" I said nervously.

"Have we done anything wrong?" Ron questioned.

"Apart from helping Harry, no" I answered.

"But surely we can't get wrong for that" I said and we both slowly made our way to Professor McGonagall's office; and we couldn't help but yawning along the way.

"There you both are" Professor McGonagall smiled as we both entered the room. As Ron closed the door behind us I couldn't help but note that Cho and a small blonde haired girl dressed in a pale blue robe was stood waiting for us.

"Erm" I said as I pulled one brow up in confusion; I didn't know what was going on but I hoped that we found out soon.

"Hello" Ron said uncertainly.

"What is going on?" I asked for the pair of us.

"As you know that this morning the champions are going to carry out their second task" Professor McGonagall started.

"Yes" Ron confirmed.

"And we need your participation; if you are willing" she offered.

"What do you need us to do?" I asked. I don't think any of the champions were going to like this; whatever the teachers and officials needed us to do was going to be dangerous and risky.

"Each champion needs to look in the Black Lake for something that they would miss if they were lost forever" Professor McGonagall explained.

"You want us to go to the Black Lake?" the little girl asked slowly.

"I can't swim very well" she quickly added as she started to panic.

"Miss Delacour you don't need to worry" Professor McGonagall smiled.

"We will put you all under a trance; you will not be aware of anything until you come back to the surface" she added.

"What if we are not found?" Cho asked in a panic.

"The merpeople will return you back after the hour" Professor McGonagall explained.

"Ok" we all nodded.

"Are you willing?" she asked.

"Yes" we all chorused.

"Professor McGonagall?" I stated as I noticed that I wasn't here for Harry; which was starting to make me panic.

"Yes Miss Grainger?" she returned.

"Am I here for Victor?" I asked even know I already knew the answer.

"Yes" she confirmed and I looked down to the ground. So Ron was here for Harry, I was here for Victor, Fleur's sister was here for her however what bothered me the most is that the teachers thought that Cho would be someone that Cedric would miss the most if he lost her. I tried to not show that this upset me; I knew that it was probably going to be taken the wrong way and I needed to make sure that I didn't set anything off.

"You are a good friend to him; I know you have had a lot of scrutiny over your relationship with him. But we felt that you were the most suitable candidate; if you don't want to then we will ask one of his friends?" she offered as I looked up at her. I knew that Victor would be upset when he finds out that I wouldn't help him; yes I knew that Cedric probably wouldn't like it but I would speak to him later about it. We both knew that I only wanted Cedric; and this is how it was always going to be.

"No; I will do it" I advised with a warm smile.

"Very well" she answered.

"Let's get you all to the lake" she said as she offered us all a warm smile.

"Just place your belongings on my desk you two" she directed.

"You can collect them later on" she added.

"Thank you" me and Ron chorused as we placed our bags onto her desk. Me and Ron then both meekly smiled at each other and then followed the others out of the office. Both looking very uncertain about what was about to happen next.

We were then taken to the Black Lake; we could see the fact that students were starting to make their way towards the three tall stands that had been placed into the middle of the lake. We all then watched as eight merpeople then appeared and Professor McGonagall then explained that they were going to take us to where we needed to be placed at the bottom of the lake. I could see that this wasn't just making me nervous but Ron, Cho and Fleur's sister – being under a trance was one thing but being in the company of merpeople when under a trance was something else.

We then stood in a line and I watched as Professor McGonagall placed a trance on Fleur's sister first; it looked like she had just fallen asleep standing up. I then watched as she did the same to Cho before she stood in front of me.

"There is nothing to worry about Miss Grainger" she smiled.

"You are perfectly safe" she added.

"I know that Professor" I returned.

"Good" she said before she waved her wand and my body started to feel heavy. I knew it was the spell and not my very tired body that was making me feel like this. But the last thing that was on my mind as my eyes rolled shut was that I really hoped that Cedric wasn't going to worry too much when he saw that I was there. The fact that I was there for Victor was something that we could address later; but I knew that it was Cedric's worst nightmare that I was involved in the tournament in any way.
