Disclaimer: I don't own the Ducks or anything related to the movies. I just borrowed them for some fun. Enjoy! I don't own any of the songs in the story.
"Alright places everyone." The priest says. We line up in our positions, the guys in the front of the church and us girls in the back. Casey has her sister, best friend, Gordon's step sister-in-law, Connie, Tammy, Julie, and I in her wedding. Gordon has Charlie, Adam, his step brother, his best friend/former team mate, Les, Guy, and Greg. Gordon has two best men. He chooses his step brother and Charlie to be the best men. Casey chose to have her best friend be one of her maids of honor, her other one is Gordon's step sister-in-law.
I am in my wheelchair and I can tell everyone is kind of sad that I am not walking but they are trying hard to be supportive. We run through how the ceremony will go before we head to the rehearsal dinner. When it is my turn I wheel half way up the aisle then Adam comes up to meet me. He pushes my chair the rest of the way to the alter area. He puts me in position then takes his place in the line. After the ceremony I wheel over to the aisle where Adam pushes me out with the rest of the wedding party. We run through the ceremony twice because there are several people confused on when things are to happen. Once we finish up we pile in the cars to go to the rehearsal dinner which is being held at a new restaurant about two blocks from school. We pull up to the Joyful Tearoom. The owner is a friend of Kathy's and she gave Gordon's family a great discount on the place for the night.
Once we are all seated around the tables they have set up for us the toasts begin. "I want to welcome you all to my stepson's rehearsal dinner. I couldn't be more proud of you, Gordon, if you were my own flesh and blood. It took me many years to find a love that can stand the tests of time but when I did I also found a second son. I love you. Casey and Charlie, welcome to the Bombay/Orion family. We are so proud to have you joining our family." My grandfather says and I smile as I see all the Ducks' mouths drop open in shock. Charlie, Adam, and I are the only ones that knew before tonight that Gordon and my dad were step brothers. "Now with that said I would like to toast to Casey, Gordon, and Charlie as they start on this next chapter as a family. May you always have love to help you through the hard times, wings to make your dreams realities, and friends to keep you grounded." With that we all clink our glasses together.
"My turn to speak," Casey's mother stands up. "I have seen my daughter marry two men that were not right for her but I didn't realize that at the time. I realize it now because I see a man that loves her with an unconditional love and supports her in her dreams. He not only does this for Casey but also for her son. Even when Casey and Gordon were not together Gordon still kept his eye on Charlie and was there for him through everything. Gordon, thank you for loving my daughter and my grandson as if he was your own. I am honored to be gaining a son like you. To Casey and Gordon may this next chapter of your life be filled with all the happiness you deserve." We all raise our glasses and again toast.
After the toasts we enjoy dinner and during dinner the Ducks talk about how shocked they are to find out that their two coaches are stepbrothers. "How did you three keep it a surprise for so long?" Dean asks.
"It was easy because I rarely see Uncle Gordon when I see the rest of you." I say with a shrug of my shoulders. "Besides none of you thought anything about me calling him Uncle Gordon." I add with a laugh. "Why do you think I paid him with hugs and a date? Come on how many men that age do you think my Dad would trust to take me out?" This got a lot of laughter.
"I found out during my court battle." Adam explains. "It came out when I asked some questions about their relationship."
"Gordon told me the same day he first showed me how Orion was with his daughter. At the time I was so wrapped up in my own life that it never occurred to me to tell the rest of you. Then with all the problems he solved for us that year it was like our lawyer was watching out for us and I never thought of the connection again until Gordon was engaged to my mom. Gordon brought it up that weekend when I went out to dinner with him and mom. He wanted to know how I felt about being actually related to my coach. I told him I thought it was kind of cool especially because I really love the Orion family and having them as relatives would be kind of nice." Charlie explains.
"I think it is awesome that you will be related to Coach but also scary. I mean we all thought he would be hardest on Banksie but now I think it will be you that he is the hardest on because you are related." Les says and we all laugh. I toss my dinner roll at him and he catches it. He tears off a piece of it with his teeth before he tosses it back to me. I miss it but Adam catches it and soon a game of toss the roll around the Ducks. We have a lot of fun for the next hour and half before Gordon and Casey hand out gifts to their wedding party members.
After many pictures and hugs we all leave to go home. I wheel into my house after Adam helped me to the door and gave me a kiss goodnight. "Goodnight Mom and Dad!" I call into the living room before using the ramp to get upstairs. I get ready for bed in record time and am asleep in minutes.
It is the morning of the wedding and I am now with the girls getting our hair done at the local salon. "So Becky how is therapy going?" Julie asks after a while.
"Yeah any word on if you will be walking again soon?" Connie asks.
"Ladies maybe Becky doesn't feel like talking about it." Casey says and I can tell she is a tad disappointed I won't be walking at the wedding. "She is doing her best and it will happen when it is meant to happen."
They drop the subject and we discuss where Casey and Gordon are going for their honeymoon. As soon as we finish getting our hair done we go see Sarah Jackson a local makeup artist who does make up for weddings, proms, and other big events also she is one of Casey's former coworkers so she gave Casey a nice discount on the makeup. While she does our make up her nieces Amy, Brooke, and Tessa do our manicures and pedicures. It takes about two hours for this stop. We had breakfast at the salon at 8 am and were finished there about 10 am. So now it is 12:30 pm and we head to the church after stopping to pick up some lunch. We eat then take turns brushing our teeth. Once our teeth are brushed we start getting in our dresses.
"I will be back in a few I just want to get dressed privately." I say then I go to the bathroom to get dressed. I come back to the room the other girls are getting ready in and I wait to go take pictures with the other girls. After our pictures are done we come in and wait in the dressing area while the guys go out to have their pictures done.
Soon it is time to line up and I see Daniel out of the corner of my eye. I smile and give a slight nod to him. Tammy walks in first and is greeted half way up the aisle by Les. They pause to have a picture taken before continuing up the aisle. Then Julie walks up and is greeted by Greg. After they get their picture taken they continue up the aisle. Next Connie walks in greets Guy gets her picture taken then continues forward. Next Casey's Sister Emily walks in and is greeted by Mike Modena. They get their picture taken and as they are Daniel walks over to me. He holds the wheelchair for me as I move the foot rest out of the way. He helps me to stand just as Mike and Emily take their places at the front of the church. As soon as he shoves my wheelchair to the side I take my first step forward and I see Adam's face first. His face shows tears of pride as I walk toward him. I would later get a video from Daniel and his fellow physical therapist, Andrea who was his date to the wedding. They took a video of all my friends and family as I surprised them. Uncle Gordon beamed from ear to ear and had to wipe tears from his eyes. All the Ducks had similar reactions to my walking for the first time since my accident. It was a very special moment and Aunt Casey later told me that it only made her day that much more special because it was like a gift to her.
After Adam and I have our picture taken we head up to take our spots. He whispers in my ear. "Are you ok standing for that long?"
"I will be fine plus Daniel is bringing my chair up the side aisle in case I need to sit part way." I whisper back before parting to take my place on Casey's side of the church.
As soon as we are in place Casey's best friend, Jessica walks up to meet Charlie get her picture taken and moves to the front. My dad beams at me from his spot before he heads to the middle of the church to meet my Mom who is walking forward. I see the tears still in my mom's eyes as she catches my eye. She mouths I love you and I mouth it back at her. The rest of the male Ducks past and present each has a part in the wedding ceremony. Dean and Fulton both have amazing voices so they are the singers. My brothers are the musicians. Jeff plays piano and Matt plays guitar. Together it sounds amazing with Fulton and Dean's voices. Dave, Peter, and Terry bring up the gifts. Tommy, Luis, Kenny, and Russ are the ushers. Jessie and Dwayne do the readings.
It was a gorgeous wedding. We are now at the reception having a great time. Everything looks so beautiful and everyone is commenting on how great it looks. "Thank you Becky for all the hard work you put into making my wedding so special but most of all thank you for the great surprise." Aunt Casey comes up beside me and says softly.
"I wasn't sure if I was making a huge mistake waiting until the wedding to walk in front of everyone for the first time since my accident or not. Daniel thought everyone would think it was the perfect time for me to take my first steps again but I wasn't so sure." I confess to her just as Adam, Charlie, and Gordon come up beside us.
"It was the perfect moment sweetheart." Uncle Gordon says. "It didn't take away from our wedding in anyway but rather made it that much more memorable because I got to see my two best girls walk down the aisle toward me. I never dreamed I would see you walk again and when the doctors this year gave us hope I knew you would do it because you are a strong young woman. I love you!"
"I love you too, Uncle Gordon." I say before stepping over to him and hugging him tight. "I do still have to keep a wheel chair around for days when I get too much exercise at least for the first couple years until I build my strength back up. It has been a long time I haven't been walking. Dean Buckley knows this and we will be leaving my spare wheelchair at the school. I don't foresee needing it at church but time will tell. Anyway I can live with an occasional wheelchair day." I tell them and we laugh together.
I get to really dance with my boyfriend tonight for the first time and he just holds me so close that it is as if he can't believe I am really ok. I breathe in his scent as we dance and it makes me feel so good to be in his arms. Every one of the male Ducks takes a turn twirling me around the dance floor then on one of the fast songs the female Ducks dance with me. My brothers and Dad also have to have a chance to dance with me as does my step grandfather and my uncles. All too soon the party is over and we are cleaning up to head home. I know without a doubt my life is where it is meant to be and I found my soul mate. I am looking forward to school and maybe even will try out for cheerleading. There is nothing stopping me now!
A/N: Thank you everyone for sticking with me through this story. I have one more chapter in mind and then I will be ending this story. I may make a sequel to Quack Attack and make her articles be a mix of interviews with the team as well as articles about her life changes. I am not sure what will happen but I am so happy to say that despite the long break I took in the middle of this story I was finish this story. For those reading some of my other stories I am hoping to finish them someday in the future. I have been trying to clear out some new story ideas that have been taking over my mind. I am almost finished with a new story that is a 7th Heaven fanfic. Also have an Ugly Betty one I am working on. Anyway enough babbling I am off to work on writing I or maybe getting some rest cause I am feeling sick. Take care all. Hugs ~ Joy
