AN/ I'm back and ready to keep up the story! Let's get to it. And I am going to sincerely apologize to all my readers who were with me during my period of mass updates and who I have disappointed for these past couple years of no updates. I'm in a OUAT state right now and remembered about this story. I re-read it and realized one of my chapters was missing so I added it in and am now on a sting of writing it again! And I'm so excited cause I still remember where I wanted to go with this.
Also, I received a message from a RVDLegsTrish about help with a story, when I sent a reply it says the inbox was full. If reading this story is why you contacted me, please note I did see your message and would love to be in contact with you about it once your inbox is cleared up. Thank you! (I will take this notice down after a week, just thought it's my best shot at reaching you about it since I can't message you.)
Anyway, we are back with Snow, Charming and the Dark One! Enjoy :)
When all the days go by the firelight
We'll never fade out in the night
And we are estranged
We're drawn to the flame
We are like fire to the rain.
Isn't it strange that love is in the way?
It never goes away
~Firelight (Within Temptation)
Chapter Forty-Eight: Firelight
Cruella's long, fake nails drummed on the counter at the child service office. The old lady with the glasses sliding halfway down her face barely paid any mind to her as she waited to be spoken to.
Snow and David stood back and watched as Cruella turned more and more irritated at the lack of communication. She never was a patient one.
The clothes they were wearing felt strange but at least it allowed them to blend in better than their Enchanted Forest attire. Cruella lent it to them, and then wanted them burned afterwards.
The lady finally looked up at Cruella and gouged her big, fur jacket that was half her size and her odd white and black hair combination. "What can I do for you, dear?" She said in a sing-song sweet voice.
"I'm looking for a child," Cruella snapped.
The lady raised her eyebrow, "Are you? Just so you know that kind of temperament doesn't fly well here."
"Well not me specifically, them," as she pointed towards Snow and Charming. They moved forward to the desk.
"You two looking to adopt?" She asked, still weary of Cruella.
Snow shook her head, "No, we're looking for our daughter. She went missing, and we hope there is some sort of… um…" she turned towards Cruella. Cruella told them what words to use for what they were looking for, but as it was foreign to them it made no sense.
"Record. That you would have had a record of it."
The lady went into alert mode. "How long has it been that you've lost your daughter?"
"A few days."
"Why has it taken you a few days to come forward about it?"
Cruella intervened before Snow could comment, which was good cause she had no answer for the woman. "We have been everywhere trying to find this child, now, will you help us or not."
"I need to contact a police officer, he'll gather some information and help you locate your missing daughter." She went to the phone on her desk and began to speak with someone on the other end.
Cruella, Snow and David walked to the waiting area. "I can't believe I'm helping you out with this…"
"I can't believe you are either," David commented back.
"Do you have any idea where in this world she was sent to?"
Snow shook her head. "David just put her in the wardrobe and that was it."
"Charming…" Cruella sneered. Snow sat down on one of the chair and put her head in her hands. "Now you look like a worried mother. I hope you know this is how Maleficent is feeling now as well."
That put Snow into a deeper despair as she now grasped at the roots of her long, black hair. David sat next to her and put his arms around her. "Do you know where Rumpelstiltskin went?"
"Haven't a clue, darling," Cruella responded, seeming uninterested by the conversation.
Snow opened her eyes and looked at the table. It was a newsletter, and on the front page was a headline.
7 YEAR OLD BOY FINDS BABY IN THE WOODS
Snow grabbed the newspaper so fast, David barely had time to react. She flipped to the page that the title indicated and read the article.
"Snow, what is it?"
She smiled. "Emma…" Cruella turned towards them. "A baby was found in the woods and has been taken to Boston as they try to figure out where she came from. That has to be her! That has to be Emma."
"Then let's go." Both of them were on their feet and out the door, the lady at the desk started calling out to them, telling them to wait. Cruella was soon behind them as well.
Rumpelstiltskin was leaning against Cruella's car as they came out.
"We know where Emma is, we have to get to a place called Boston!"
"First.Myson. I know he's here in this town, or whatever. We find him first, then we go after your daughter."
David went up to him and pointed a finger at his chest, pushing him against the car harder. "If you break our deal. If we don't get Emma back…"
Rumplestiltskin laughed, "I've only ever broken one deal before, and I don't have any intensions of breaking another. We will go to Boston and grab your child, after I find Bae."
"And how do you plan on doing that?" Cruella said.
Rumpelstiltskin laughed, "Well, while you guys were wasting your time in there," he pointed at the child service centre, "I was finding another… friend."
"Who?" Snow asked.
"A fish out of water, let's just say."
AN/ I hate how slow this storyline is progressing but just hold on cause I have something big planned for them in this world!
