Chapter 49 (Chapter Short)- The Truth Hurts

Me: I have been planning this chapter for a while now.

Rarity: What's going to happen in it?

Me: All I can say right now is that it involves mainly you and one other.

Rarity: What? I am one of the stars in this chapter? My, I have to say it's quite the honor.

Me: Yes, it is, but you deserve it. Anyway, would you mind handling the disclaimer for me?

Rarity: Of course dear. Tid doesn't own the rights to Naruto Shippuden nor My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Rarity and I were enjoying some time together when Twilight came up to us; Spike riding on her back. "Hey Rarity, hey Tid, what's up?" She asked. "Not much my dear Twilight; Tid and I are just enjoying each other's company." Rarity responded. Spike climbed down off of Twilight's back. "Say, Rarity, I was wondering if you'd want to go to a concert with me later." He said blushing slightly. "Sorry Spike, but I've got plans with Tid all afternoon. We're going to go see the wondrous waterfalls that he found just outside of Canterlot, then we are going to watch the meteor shower." She said. "But, wouldn't you rather spend time with me?" He asked. She tilted her head slightly in confusion. "I'm sorry? I don't quite understand what you mean by that dear." She said. Spike held up a gem in the shape of a heart I hadn't noticed before. "Remember, you gave this to me." He said. "Why yes I do remember that. I gave it to you for your birthday, if I'm not mistaken." She said placing her hoof to her chin. "Yes, you did. I remember the next day you stopped me by showing me this gem. I thought it meant something special." He said. "Of course it does!" She said. "It does?" He asked excitedly. She nodded, smiling. "So then, you do love me?" He asked. "Of course! I love my little Spikey-Wikey." She said. I looked at her. "I have something I've been meaning to tell you..." He said, turning over the gem with both hands. "What is it dear?" She asked. "You see, ever since I met you, I've always felt... Special feelings toward you." He said. Twilight began to get nervous. "Um, Spike, are you sure you want to tell her?" She asked. "Yes Twilight. This is something I must do." He said. "Alright..." She said, a worried expression on her face. "Anyway, I've always wanted to say something to you, something very important." He said. Rarity stared at him, waiting for him to say it. "Well, I guess I'd better just come out with it... I love you, Rarity." He said.

"You... Love me?" She asked. He nodded. She was rendered speechless. I stared at her, watching her struggle to speak. Eventually, she closed her mouth and her eyes. She opened them again, a sympathetic look on her face. She smiled in a sympathetic way. She got up and walked over to Spike and placed a hoof on his shoulder. "Oh darling, I'm afraid we don't share those feelings." She said. "What do you mean?" He asked taken aback. "You see, I consider you like a son to me. I love you in the same way a mother loves her children; and as such I would do anything to protect you." She said. It was Spike's turn to be speechless. He stood there in shock at first, then tears started to well up in his eyes. "You mean, you don't love me?" He asked. "Oh darling of course I love you; just not in the same way you love me." She said. Spike turned away from her and took a few steps toward Twilight. "Oh, Spike." Twilight said, holding up her hoof in a concerned manner. Spike then began to sob. Twilight walked over to him and placed her hoof on his shoulder, but he pushed it away. "Tell me something, at least." He said after a while, still sniffling. "Anything." Rarity said. "Who do you love, you know, in that way?" He asked, not turning around. Rarity's eyes widened in surprise. She seemed absolutely baffled by this question. "Spike, isn't it obvious? We've been seeing each other for a few months now; I thought surely you knew..." She said. "Who is it? Sorry, but I didn't notice." He said. "Spike, I'm in love with Tid." She said. He raised his head. "Did you say Tid?" He asked. She nodded, but quickly verbalized this when she remembered he had his back turned. He stood up and turned around to look at me. "You!" He said pointing his finger at me. He stormed up to me. "You have some nerve stealing Rarity from me." He said. "Spike, I never stole her from you, or anyone else for that matter. Didn't you hear her? She said she thinks of you as her son. Doesn't that count for something?" I asked. "You don't deserve her love." He said. "I think that would be up to Rarity, not you." I said. "Spike, please, you're making a scene." Twilight said. Spike raised his fist suddenly and punched me in the gut, knocking the wind out of me. I doubled over and sank to my knees, coughing and trying to get my breath back. "Spike!" Both Rarity and Twilight said at once. I sat there on my knees, still panting. Spike turned around to look at them. "How could you do something like that?" Twilight asked. He remained silent. "Spike that is unacceptable behavior! Apologize to him at once!" Rarity said. Spike reluctantly turned around and apologized, though it didn't even sound sincere. I eventually regained my breath and I stood up. "Now Spike, I understand you must be going through a rough time right now, anyone would be, including myself, but you can't take it out on other people." I said. He turned away from me. I crouched down until I was eye level with him. I placed my hand on his shoulder. "You wanna know what I do when I'm angry or sad?" I asked him. He glanced at me, showing for a second curiosity more than resentment. "I seclude myself in some place and I meditate." I said. "Meditate?" He asked. I nodded. "Do you know why I do this?" I asked him. He shook his head. "I do it because I know that I can't lash out at others for what I am feeling. I meditate to rid myself of these feelings and in doing so heighten my spiritual energy. Now, this may be useless to you because you can't use Chakra, but I think the same principle applies." I said. "So you think I should start meditating?" He asked. "No, I'm saying that's what I do. You need to find your own way to deal with your emotions. That's what I think." I said. "Oh, I see." He said. He walked back over to Twilight. "Come on Spike, let's go home." She said. He nodded and climbed on her back again. She spread her wings and looked over at us. "You two have fun this afternoon." She said. "Oh no need to worry about that Twilight." Rarity said. Twilight chuckled and flew off. I watched as they flew, and saw Spike look back for a second. I walked over to Rarity. "You really think of him as your son, huh?" I asked. She nodded, smiling. "I guess that means I'm like the stepdad he never wanted." I said. She chuckled. "Don't worry, he'll accept you eventually." She said. I placed my hand on her shoulder. "I certainly hope so. I've seen what he's capable of." I said. "Come on, if we don't get going we won't have enough time to look at the waterfalls." She said. I smiled. "Alright." I said.

Me: Well, I've been meaning to write this chapter for a while. This was a short filler chapter for you guys.

Rarity: I had no idea Spike had such high affections for me.

Me: Oh come on, he made it fairly obvious in the past. I would've thought you knew by now.

Rarity: I'm sorry, but I had no idea.

Me: It's fine, you know now. Anyway, favorite, follow, and leave a review! I'd love to hear your feedback! See you next time!
