Chapter Forty Three
Since Cooper's arrival Nick hadn't spent any alone time with his gorgeous Jeffykins. and he was wanting to change that. In between going out at night with Cooper, practising for their band and university Nick had hardly even seen Jeff and so he had resorted to texting him out for dinner. Jeff had quite readily agreed and that was how they had come to be dressing up in their best to go out for a romantic evening. Nick smoothed down his dark brown shirt with his golden waistcoat over the top whilst sneaking a peak at what his boyfriend was putting on. Jeff always looked good in anything and his blood red shirt was no exception. It made his light blonde hair even whiter and his eyes even bluer. Nick smiled as he gazed lovingly at his partner and sighed a small, contented sigh. Jeff was definitely the one. He had been so lucky to have found him so early on in his life.
"Are you ready Nicky poos?" Jeff inquired, his head cocking to one side as he looked on blankly at his beau. Nick who was staring at Jeff's beautifully soft, plump lips didn't hear him at all, he was too busy dreaming about kissing his Jeffy slowly and deeply. "Nicky?"
Nick, only just realising that Jeff was looking at him expectantly waiting for Nick to take him out shook his head, bringing himself back to reality. "Sorry, you just look, well, amazing, like usual." Jeff blushed, his smile widening from pleasure.
"Oh this old thing." Jeff gushed, twisting his body to and fro in delight.
"Let's get going, a friend told me of a really good Chinese restaurant that I think you'll like." Taking Jeff's hand in his own they both set out for the restaurant, glad to finally be in each others company alone.
Blaine had said that he would help his brother to move into his new apartment. He had found a really nice apartment on the upper east side with quite an astonishing view. But then that was Cooper for you, he managed to find the best of everything. They had just gotten all the furniture in and Blaine was already knackered.
Cooper it appeared was perfectly fine though, no sweat was trailing down his back and he was not at all puffed out. Blaine however collapsed on his brothers sofa dying for a glass of water or anything to drink.
"Thanks for helping me out Squirt. I really appreciate it. You feeling better?" Blaine nodded and Cooper, sensing Blaine was tired and thirsty got him and glass out of his kitchen box, running the cold water tap to fill it up to the top and handing it out to his little brother. Blaine downed it in seconds, handing the glass immediately back to Cooper who sat himself down on the edge of the coffee table opposite him.
"I do thanks. I know I've got you and Sam and all my friends I know I'll be safe and that Kurt will be in Paris before I know it." He smiled up at his brother who patted his knee like a father would a child. With their age difference Cooper always seemed to get away with it.
"Well we both love you very much Blaine." At that statement Cooper stood up, making his way to the kitchen area. "Now how about you help me unpack the kitchen now you've had a rest." Blaine groaned loudly. His feet throbbing and his shoulders aching, he slumped up and shuffled half heartedly towards his brothers kitchen to help out some more.
Every day that Sam went home from work he always passed a pet shop and without fail everyday he would look in the windows. He couldn't stop himself, small, cute animals were his downfall. Puppies, kittens little tiny rabbits. The lot of them. So he stood longingly at the window wishing they could adopt one of them.
Today however when he stopped to perform his ritual of pet shopping his heart stopped as he gasped aloud. The cutest little puppy Jack Russell dog was laying there looking so forlorn that Sam couldn't help but edge towards the door. It's little black eyes were looking up at him with such soul that before he knew what he was doing the doorbell was tinkling and he was inside, getting as near to the puppy as was possible. The black spot over it's right eye made it look even more pitiful if that was possible and he could see the intelligence behind it's eyes already even though it was the smallest dog Sam had ever seen.
"He's gorgeous isn't he? His mother rejected him poor thing, the runt of the litter and all. Would you like to hold him?" Sam nodded without thinking and soon the puppy was in his arms, whining and wagging it's tale in hope. Sam was a goner. He couldn't help himself. He was simply the cutest thing ever.
"Does he have a name?" Sam asked, smiling down at the little scrap of a thing as it reached up and licked his nose.
The pet shop owner laughed warmly. "Yes. We call him Spot. He's such a clever little thing too you know. I'll be sad to see him go, but happy he has a good home."
Sam, stopped short wondering what Blaine would say to him getting a puppy, but then he looked down into the little guys eyes and that was it. "How much?" The owner patted his arm in kindness.
"For you my darling, free. But you can buy him all the things he'll need." She hinted heavily and Sam allowed her to pull him towards the counter to buy Spot all he needed. It looked like they were getting a new flat mate.
"This is great Nick. The food here is awesome and I'm really glad we could get away just the two of us." Jeff gazed lovingly into his partners eyes, his hand sliding into Nick's as they looked at each other besotted. "I wish we could be like this all the time." Jeff sighed, his grip tightening a little.
"You don't like living with Blaine and Sam?" Nick quizzed him, eyebrow arched as he waited for an answer.
"It's not that, I love them both I just want to be with you all the time. I guess I'm selfish. I want you all to myself Nicky poos." Nick smiled widely at that comment, quickly giving Jeff a kiss on the lips as discreetly as possible.
"You're not selfish, you're honest. I love you Jeffy and one day we will be able to be together, but not yet. We can't afford it quite yet. Not even with our parents cash flow." Nick explained ruefully. He wished his parents would give him more but no, they had flatly refused. Nick thought it mainly because they didn't want him and Jeff to rush into anything. The fact that they had been together for what felt like forever didn't seem to cross their minds.
Jeff sighed, resting his head on his free hand. "I know, it just sucks is all."
Nick chuckled, brushing Jeff's hair out of his face and earning a puppy dog gaze back that always left Nicks heart hammering in his chest. "I tell you what. As soon as we graduate we will get on a plane and elope, with our gowns and caps on and everything. Then we'll be together forever my gorgeous Jeffykins."
"You mean get married? For reals? Only can we get a licence and do it in New York with all our friends there instead cause I kinda love those guys we live with right now."Nick leant back and guffawed loudly, nodding enthusiastically to Jeff's counter proposal. "Cool so in three and a half years we are getting married. Yay!" Jeff tucked back into his meal with relish as Nick sat back, watching the man he loved with every once of his being. He couldn't wait to graduate now. He loved Jeff so much and that was never, ever going to change. They were soul mates, kindred spirits, bound to one another in a way no one could understand. One day he would be bound by law too. It was an exciting prospect and one that Nick could hardly wait to see happen.
Blaine was tired. Tired, cranky and very, very hungry. He was definitely ordering something in when he finally got in. He trudged up all the stairs first and that had seemed endless before rummaging for his keys, which he dropped. Cursing to himself, he bent to retrieve them, hear a groan escape his lips and not one of the good kind. His brother had broken him. Blaine didn't know if he would ever recover. He heard some sort of soft yapping from the other side of the door and thought it weird but put it down to something Sam must be watching on the TV.
He slid the key in the lock and turned, opening the door when a small furry thing wrapped it's way around his legs a few times, it's tail wagging and barking up happily at him, it's tiny tongue lolling to one side. "Huh." Was all Blaine could come out with. His brain was too frazzled and he was too tired to make any sense of this new development and so he went with it, shoving his shoes off and leaving them. If the dog chewed them to pieces whoever had bought it home was paying for a new pair. Either that or Cooper for making him do so much today.
He turned to see Sam on the couch, sitting bolt upright, a huge smile plastered on his face. Well at least Blaine knew who had bought the puppy now. He couldn't be mad, it looked very cute from what his addled mind could compute. "Hey honey. Would you like me to order some take out? Pizza? Thai?" Sam held up the menus and Blaine took the Thai one slowly, easing himself onto the couch and grunting as the dog jumped up and decided to sit in his lap. "You're picking up and putting away my shoes before it chews them Sammy."
"Is that a yes to keeping him?" Sam's voice rose up, his hands in a prayer like gesture as he looked at Blaine in a similar way to the dog.
Sighing deeply Blaine nodded achingly. "Yes. Order me something. You know what I like." Blaine handed his blonde boyfriend the menu back and closed his eyes groaning softly as he waggled his toes now that hey were free. His whole feet felt like they were burning.
"Wow, Cooper really worked you hard didn't he? You want me to get Nick's foot bath for you?" Blaine moaned out a yes to the foot bath, waiting patiently for Sam to race into the other boys room and grab it, placing Blaine feet gently inside. Blaine sighed at the heavenly touch of the cold water splashing over them as Sam poured water into it, alleviating the feeling of fire burning his soles off. The dog seemed to have found it's perfect spot and sat contentedly in Blaine's lap as he absent-mindedly stroked the tiny creature. Blaine managed to whisper out a thank you to Sam who placed an order at the Thai place and moved Blaine's shoes into the bedroom.
He felt the cushions beside him shift and he opened one eye to see Sam looking on in great happiness at the scene before him. "His name's Spot. Cause of the Spot..." Sam indicated to the Spot covering one of the dogs eyes.
"Yeah I got that." Blaine's addled mind could at least figure out that name if nothing else. The front door slammed shut a moment later, causing Blaine to wince in pain as a headache started to form. There was no way he was helping his brother any more. He was on his own from now on. Blaine didn't care how long it took him, he was not helping Cooper again.
"Hey guys, nice evening?" Nick asked politely as he took the scarf off that was wrapped around his neck. "Is that my foot spa?"
Sam, wanting to let Blaine rest decided to be the spokesman for the night. "Um yes. Guys Blaine's kinda wiped out so if you could tone it down that would be great. He's been helping Cooper move all day remember?"
"Oh yeah, sorry." Jeff nodded in sympathy. "We'll keep it- OH MY GOD IS THAT A PUPPY!" Jeff squealed so loudly that people in China probably heard him, making Blaine wince even further and both Sam and Nick shushed him to no avail. "OH IT'S SO CUTE! Hello there little fella, you're so cute, aren't you?"
The puppy began wriggling all over Blaine's lap and he sighed loudly. "I take it all back Sam. It's got to go. Right now."
"You don't mean that do you?" Sam cried out, covering the puppies ears which make Nick snigger at the absurdity of what he was seeing. "Spot hasn't done anything wrong and look at him, he's so cute." Both Sam and Jeff leant right next to the puppy and all three looked up to Blaine with the same pleading eyes.
"Oh dear lord. No I didn't mean it. But can you play with it in your room Jeff, I've got a headache." Jeff yelled out in glee and picked up the puppy much to Blaine's relief, leaving Sam and Jeff to go and play with it. Nick trotted over and sat gingerly beside his friend.
"Need anything?" Nick asked.
"Unless you can soundproof your bedroom no. No I'm good." Nick chuckled and patted his friend on his knee. "You can play with it too if you want. If I wasn't feeling like crap I'd be in there too."
"I know. But we can play with him anytime. Shall I put the tele on? Quietly?" Blaine nodded, smiled tiredly. That sounded like all he could take right now. Tomorrow was or getting to know there newest addition...
