5YL the Adventure Begins

Part 52

After Blaine finished up in the auditorium and the students began to leave, those close to Blaine made their way onto the stage as his crew began packing up their gear. It didn't surprise any of them to find Blaine standing in front of a table with Sebastian looking at the frames. "By chance, is this the special something you mention?" At Jeff's words, Blaine looked back over his shoulder at Sebastian who was standing behind him holding him.

"Wait…you knew?" Blaine asked as he turned slowly upon seeing Sebastian's expression change. "Bas?"

"Vincent might've called me and asked when the best time to present them to you would be." Sebastian replied. "Did I make the right call?" Blaine answered by wrapping his arms around Sebastian's neck and moving up on his toes to kiss him, not caring who was around. "I take that as a yes."

"What do you think?"

"I think I might need some more convincing." Yet before he could move in for another kiss, Cooper slipped his arm between them. "Seriously Cooper."

"Yes, as I don't need to watch the two of you make-out with one another and neither do our parents." All of their friends laughed as Cooper had such a serious look on his face when he spoke. The two rolled their eyes at him before separating ever so slightly. "I'm proud of you Squirt."

"Thank you." Blaine replied before looking at his parents. "Would you mind taking them home for me?"

"Absolutely not." Patrick said in response. "Saying we're proud of you, doesn't seem to be enough to truly convey how we're feeling at this moment."

"Considering how I feel Dad, I understand what you mean as I seem to be at a loss for how I feel as well." Once he was done speaking, Kate wrapped her arms around not only him, but Sebastian as she didn't wait for the two to separate further. "You need to clear some wall space Mom."

"Wh…what do you mean?" She asked before looking at Patrick who looked as confused as she did.

"One of those is staying with you guys, as none of this would've been possible without you."

"Blaine." Patrick said but was met with a look from Blaine that clearly said he wasn't going to change his mind. "Alright, we won't argue."

"Good." Blaine then looked over at the guys. "Are you going to stick around or are you leaving?"

"We're going to get going, but we'll meet you at your place in a couple of hours." Wes told him as they'd already discussed a meeting time prior.

"Alright. Well then, I better get going otherwise I might never get out of here."

"We were thinking the same thing." Thad told him. With that, Blaine began saying his goodbyes so that he could head on his way.

Considering the New Directions needed to travel back to Lima, he told the Warblers he'd be talking to them second which they didn't have an issue with as it gave them all some time to get some homework done. During their walk to the classroom they'd given him to use to speak to the New Directions, Sebastian kept hip bumping Blaine. "Something on your mind Bas." Blaine asked as they rounded the corner, not walking too quickly as to lose Scott.

"There is something about being here that's making me want to act on a few impulses I had in regards to you back then."

"Is that so?"

"It is. Combine those feelings with how proud I feel right now, it's a dangerous combination Killer."

"Well, how about I make a promise to you."

"I'm listening."

"Once I get home, we can celebrate in a manner you deem appropriate." When a smirk crept to his face, Blaine gave him a hip bump.

"Alright, but it won't stop me of thinking of all the inappropriate things I want to do with you in this building."

"I'm not asking you to stop, also I wouldn't mind hearing about them once we're home."

"Deal." Sebastian then gave him a playful slap on the ass causing him to look up at him. "Always wanted to do that here, amongst other things as I said." Blaine smiled fondly up at him before stopping in front of the classroom door. "Much as I want to join you, I don't want to be a distraction."

"Okay, so what are you going to do while I talk with them?" Blaine asked as Scott came into view as he tried to give them as much privacy as possible.

"I'm going to walk around, see if anything changed. I'll be waiting for you in the Warbler common room. I won't be the same distraction to them as I am to the New Directions." Blaine nodded before kissing him on the cheek. "Good luck B."

"Thank you." Blaine then headed into the classroom along with Scott to speak with the New Directions. "Hi, sorry for keeping you waiting but I needed to take care of a few things first." Blaine said as he took a seat on the teacher's desk up front causing the New Directions to take their seats.

"No need to apologize Blaine, we understand." Mr. Schuester told him as his students practically stared at him. "Before you start though, I want to congratulation you. Those are some serious accomplishments."

"Thank you. Today was definitely a bit of a shock for me." Blaine replied. "That's actually why it took me some time as I had to speak with my parents about bringing them home, instead of having them packed up with all of our gear." Blaine then looked around the room. "But enough about that, I'm presuming you all have some questions for me." They all responded in the affirmative. "Alright, I'm here to answer them, just a heads up though, no questions about my personal life, that's off-limits." After he spoke, he looked to the back where Scott was standing and saw him quietly laugh to himself prior to Vincent entering the room. Mr. Schuester then reiterated what Blaine said as this needed to be about music and nothing else.

While Blaine was talking with the New Directions, Sebastian took himself on a tour of the school before heading for the Warblers common room. When he made his way through the doors, he wasn't surprised to find them all inside studying. "Nice to see some things never change." His words brought all of their attention to the doorway. "That was quite the performance you all put on, well done." Slowly they all rose to their feet and he assumed the one walking towards him was the head Warbler.

"Thank you." He replied before the two shook hands. "We felt it was the least we could do, after all, once a Warbler…"

"Always a Warbler." Sebastian finished for him earning him a few looks from them as he made his way further into the room.

"How'd you know?" The head Warbler asked.

"That's because that's Sebastian Smythe, a former Captain of the Warblers." One of the others said bringing a smirk to Sebastian's face which confirmed is statement. "Holy shit!" Conversations began amongst the Warblers as Sebastian stood and took it in. "I'm so sorry."

"It's okay." Sebastian told them. "You should all know, that really meant a lot to Blaine. The last thing he expected to hear was you guys doing one of his songs."

"Wait…Sebastian, as in the same Sebastian that is dating Blaine?" Another of the Warblers asked, and Sebastian nodded. "Wow, we didn't realize..." He couldn't seem to finish as he was at a loss for words once the connection was made.

"That's because my last name has been kept out of the press, and if you don't mind, we'd prefer it stays that way."

"We won't say a word, right Warblers?" The head Warbler said to him and the others all agreed. "Now, is there anything we can do for you Sebastian?"

"No, I was merely walking around while he spoke with the New Directions as I didn't want to be a distraction when he did."

"Distraction?" One of the guys asked.

"Yes, as when I went to let his family into the auditorium the girls from the New Directions had quite the reaction to seeing me." When they laughed, Sebastian smiled. "You find that funny?"

"We do as more than a few of us have sisters that are quite taken with Blaine, and find the two of you quite cute. They were already jealous that we were meeting Blaine, so you can imagine how they're going to react to finding out we met you as well."

"I see. Are any of you going to the concert this weekend?"

"I'm pretty certain most of the student body is going." The head Warbler told him. "Not only to see Blaine perform, but the line-up for this festival is pretty unreal. It's not really typical of something that comes to this area."

"That's something I'm well aware of."

"And what is it you're well aware of?" The sound of Blaine's voice brought everyone's attention to the doorway once more and Sebastian smiled as Blaine was leaning against it, much as he was the first time they saw one another. "Sebastian."

"That the festival line-up is pretty unreal."

"It most certainly is." Blaine said as he entered the room. "I appreciate that you were all understanding that I spoke with the McKinley kids first given they have quite the bus trip back."

"It wasn't a problem." The head Warbler said to him as they shook hands. "How would you like to do this Blaine?"

"I believe it would be best if we keep this as casual as possible." Blaine said which none of them had an issue with so they all got comfortable. Sebastian took one of the arm chairs opposite the council table which Blaine was leaning against. Unlike his meeting with the New Directions, the Warblers were a bit more relaxed as they weren't staring, making the situation feel less awkward for Blaine. The questions between the two groups differed quite a bit as the New Directions were more curious about the performing aspect, while the Warblers asked not only about that, but writing, composition, and touring.

It was more than an hour later when they were finishing up which couldn't have worked out better given the guys were soon going to be heading over to the Andersons. Not that Blaine and Sebastian needed to be there when they arrived, but the last thing they wanted was to keep them waiting longer than necessary. Each of the Warblers thanked Blaine once again for speaking with them, along with congratulating him on his success. Once the two said their goodbyes and left the common room, Sebastian leaned down to give Blaine a kiss. "You were good Killer."

"They made it easy." Blaine replied before kissing him in returned and then looking at Scott and telling him they were finally heading home. From there, the trio headed on their way back to the Andersons so Blaine could finally rehearse with not only his band, but his friends all at once. During the drive back home, Blaine looked at Sebastian. "We're going to do those lyrics together, correct?"

"That's what we'd decided upon, so, yes." Sebastian said to him. "Jeff told me the two of you talked about it."

"We did as he and the rest of the guys were getting curious about those very lyrics."

"Not surprising. You do realize your fans are going to read deeply into a certain one that we'll be singing." Blaine nodded. "Who would take you as someone so willing to tease them in that way?"

"It's not teasing, when it rings true on both of our ends."

"It most certainly does B, it most certainly does."

By the time they arrived back at the Andersons, everyone else was there and Blaine's band had everything set up and ready to go. Considering the arrangement Blaine had sent his friends, it was possible to sing without his band backing them up. And to make sure the harmonies were correct, that's how they were going to go about it the first time. Much as they'd done in the past, they started slowly and Blaine's band watched in amazement how they worked together. By the time Blaine's band joined in, the guys were clearly more in their element and not having to think as much as earlier as was evident by how they were enjoying themselves.

Once they were all happy with how it sounded, they called it a wrap as they all felt more than comfortable with how it sounded. When Blaine and his band began packing their gear up, Wes looked over at Blaine who was placing his guitar in the case. "Care to tell us why you chose this exact song and not something we'd done in the past?" His question caused Blaine to turn from his case to face not only Wes, but the rest of them who were standing around him. The moment Blaine glanced over at Sebastian, they each smiled. "Blaine?"

"Considering how this all started, the lyrics speak for themselves. I couldn't have achieved any of this without any of you. Hell, if it wasn't for you guys, I don't know where I'd be right now."

"You would've made it Blaine." Nick told him.

"I'm not talking simply about you guys supporting me once we reconnected; I'm talking about when you helped me find myself again." That caused all of them to freeze on their spots as it wasn't really something they wanted to think about either. "It's true. The more I look back; it was stupid of me to keep what happened in my marriage to myself as you guys had seen me through the darkest of times. And considering what I'd already been through, that wasn't as bad. Yet…"

"Don't dare say what we all believe you are thinking Blaine Anderson." Trent stated rather firmly.

"Trent."

"Blaine, we all know it was out of your control to an extent and you were trying to make your marriage work which was admirable. While it hurt, it never changed how we felt and we would've been there for you without hesitation, no questions asked."

"He's right." David told him. "So now that we're all back together, let's not dwell on what we could've changed as that will only drive us crazy."

"It was because of me."

"We could've fought harder." Nick said to him. "Yet we didn't as we didn't want to make it any harder on you than necessary. Unlike your ex, we put your needs first and thankfully, he still let you speak with Wes who kept us updated. Little did we realize it would take you hooking up with Sebastian to get you back." Blaine's jaw dropped at the comment and the others laughed. "You can't deny it."

"It wasn't a hook up Duval." Sebastian said from his spot on the couch.

"Fine, it wasn't a hook up. Whatever propelled Blaine to search you out, we're all grateful. We missed you."

"I missed you guys too." Blaine replied. "Even if I didn't end up at Bas's door, it might not have been much longer till I found my way back to you guys." From that point it didn't take them all long to make their way upstairs and outside to enjoy what was left of the day.

Shortly after the last of them left, Kate knocked on Blaine's open door with two hangers in hand bringing a smile to Blaine's face. "You didn't need to do that Mom, but thank you." Blaine said as he made his way off of his bed to take them from her. Once he hung them, he noticed her sitting on the bottom of his bed. "What is it?"

"I can't knock the feeling that something is going through that head of yours. Want to talk about it?" After she spoke, Blaine made his way towards her and sat down on his bed once more. He wasn't sure how she did it, but she always read him quite accurately. "Is it about tomorrow?"

"It is. For some reason I'm nervous, more so than I can remember being in a long time." Blaine told her as they turned to face one another. "I almost asked Bas to stay tonight, but I didn't want to risk him seeing certain things before the reveal tomorrow. I want tomorrow to be perfect Mom."

"When don't you want them to be perfect?" She replied causing him to tilt his head. "Blaine, you're a perfectionist when it comes to your music, so what's different?" The moment his gaze drifted across to a picture frame on his dresser, she knew as it was of him and the guys. "They're going to love what you have planned Blaine."

"How can you be so sure? Also, how can I be sure I'm not going to upset my friends from McKinley as more of the songs are in homage to the Warblers?"

"Because they're your friends Blaine, and they know you." Kate told him. "Even Tina told me the other day when at the Smythes it's impossible to deny the bond you and the Warblers have. While she's seen you happy before, it pales in comparison to how you are around them and that's not even talking about you and Sebastian." That last little bit brought a blush upon Blaine's cheeks. "They know what you boys share is special, so don't worry sweetheart." She then ran her fingers through his curls. "You know, I'm glad you finally let them show and don't try to hide them anymore."

"Me too. Not only is it less work, but I feel more like myself without all the gel."

"Do you mind me asking what Sebastian thought the first time he saw you without all the gel?"

"He was surprised and then asked why I hid them. Now he has this overwhelming need to run his fingers through them when we're curled up on the couch."

"Something I'm sure you don't mind." Blaine shook his head. "Much as I would love to talk a bit more, you need to get some sleep as you have quite the day ahead of you tomorrow." She then leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Good night dear, sweet dreams." After she spoke, Kate got up off of his bed and headed for the door.

"Good night Mom and thanks." Kate smiled back at him in response before closing the door on her way out. Nervous as he might be, his Mom had some excellent points so he wasn't going to let his worries get ahead of what he was about to do the next day.

While Blaine was preparing to call it a night, Sebastian's mind was still working overtime so he quietly made his way down the stairs so as not to wake anyone. Unbeknownst to him, his Dad was still up as he was working in his office. After seeing the light on, Sebastian made his way down the hall and knocked quietly on the partially opened door. Once Xavier motioned for him to come in, Sebastian made his way inside and sat down across from him. "I thought you were going to sleep." Xavier said to him as he took his glasses off and set them on his desk.

"Tried, but my mind doesn't seem to want me too." Sebastian told him. "I guess I'm looking forward to tomorrow more than I realized."

"Doesn't surprise me." Xavier said in response as he leaned back in his chair. "It's a big moment tomorrow and from all I've heard, Blaine's got quite the show planned."

"He does, but he's keeping most of it to himself as he wants it to be a surprise."

"And that has peaked your curiosity."

"Of course it has." Sebastian stated. "You should've seen him today Dad, talk about being in one's element."

"I can only imagine, I wish we could've seen it. Do either of you know where you're going to put what he was presented with today?"

"Not in the slightest, but we'll figure it out once we get home. B still can't believe it."

"Understandable, but he's earned every bit of what he's achieved so far. Your Mom and I were talking and believe this is only the beginning of what's ahead for him."

"Agreed." Sebastian said proudly before rubbing his neck, a tell his Dad knew all too well that there was something on his mind. "Do you mind if I ask you something Dad?" Xavier shook his head in response. "How'd you know Mom was the one?" That question caused Xavier to sit upright and look across at his son.

"That's not necessarily an easy question to answer, you know." Sebastian nodded. "Very well, I'll answer you the best I can, though it might sound a bit simplistic, but I'll go beyond merely saying I knew she was the one."

"Good, as I want to hear more than that." He replied in typical Sebastian fashion.

"While it's one thing to be attracted to someone, and love them. It's another to want to spend the rest of your life with them." Xavier told him. "Yet, there comes a time where you realize a part of you is missing when they're not with you."

"It puts what Mom always says into perspective as she always says, tu me manques, instead of I miss you, particularly when she's speaking to those she loves."

"Precisely, and honestly son, she completes me. While I know I'm a complete person, having her as a part of my life makes me whole if that makes sense."

"It does, completely." Sebastian replied. "Obviously there was a time in my life that I would've dismissed it, I now understand." That brought a rather proud smile to Xavier's face.

"Does this mean there is something you want to tell me?" When Sebastian glanced towards the opened door, Xavier got up from behind his desk and went to close it so they had complete privacy. Sebastian watched as his Dad returned but instead of sitting behind his desk, sat down beside him. "Sebastian, no one outside of us will hear you."

"You clearly know judging from the look on your face." Sebastian stated.

"Maybe." After he spoke, Xavier watched Sebastian reach into the pocket of his lounge pants and place a ring box on the desk. His eyes went to the box and then back to Sebastian.

"Since you obviously want to hear me say it, yes, I'm going to ask Blaine to marry me."

"Alright."

"Just alright?"

"Sebastian, it's obvious something else is on your mind, so talk to me."

"I'm afraid I'm rushing. While I know this is what I want, I'm afraid it might be too soon given everything he's been through and I don't want to fuck things up between us." Xavier looked at him and it was clear how confused Sebastian was in that moment. "I love him so much Dad."

"I know you do Sebastian. Hell, your Mom and I had a conversation about this very topic not more than a matter of days ago." Xavier said to him. "While only you will know if the moment is right, I don't believe you'd ruin anything between the two of you by asking."

"How can you be so sure about that?"

"Sebastian, he loves you as much as you love him."

"Still."

"Let me ask you this, did you believe the two of you were rushing moving in together?"

"No, as we honestly could've done it sooner but wanted to be responsible because of school."

"Alright. Now, have the two of you talked about the subject of marriage beyond what was brought up during that one interview he gave?"

"We have, and Blaine made it clear it's not something he's opposed to, but it's not necessarily something he needs to have happen."

"It sounds to me as though it was his way of making sure you knew it wasn't something he needed given your previous thoughts on commitment. In a sense, Blaine put the ball in your court to decide if it's something you wanted and either way, he'd be alright with it."

"That's how I took it as well, yet…" Xavier reached over and took his hand the moment Sebastian began to stumble over his words which was a rarity for him. "I'm still nervous."

"Of course you're nervous; it's not a small thing to ask someone. Have you thought about how you want to do it?"

"I have, I actually have it all planned out." Sebastian watched as his Dad glanced at the ring box once more. "It's not happening here Dad, it'll be happening once we're back in New York. I brought it as I wanted someone else's opinion on it beside my own."

"Considering it's for Blaine, you'd be the best choice to know whether it's right for him or not."

"I know, just humor me, will you."

"Very well, though your Mom might be a better choice."

"True, but how well do you believe she'd be able to keep it together around B the next few days knowing."

"Good point." Xavier replied before reaching for the box and opening it. "There are three rings inside Sebastian."

"I know, but they all combine to make one ring. One represents our past, and all the things we went through to get to where we are now. Another represents us now and what we share. And the third is our future, which wouldn't get joined with the others until our wedding day." Sebastian told him. "I'm thinking of giving him the first on our anniversary, as part of our past is what brought us together. There's always been something between us Dad; we just didn't know what it was."

"It's perfect Sebastian."

"I want it to be perfect Dad, he deserves it to be."

"And if it comes from your heart Sebastian, it will be."
