GUESS WHO'S BACK AFTER MONTHS OF ABSENCE?!
Yes it's me, you're favourite part-time fanfic writer who works at a chronically slow pace and promises updates before certain times that he fails to keep. Sorry, my bad.
The news about Digimon Adventure Tri has got me so psyched, I can't wait to see our favourite characters again! You think the writers of digimon have been reading fanfiction and decided to use some of the ideas we've thought up lol?
Anyway, time for another chapter. I owe you guys so freaking bad because I know this story has so many followers (whom I love) and seeing as its still officially an active fanfic I don't update it enough. We'll pick it where we last left off shall we.
Forgive any spelling or grammar mistakes.
After a few seconds of feeling as if he was floating in the air, Matt came to a crash landing. He'd hit the ground with a hard thump and was left rubbing his backside as he sat up. What met his eyes made him completely forget about his pain.
"I'm…. I'm back!" were the words that escaped his mouth. He was completely in shock to finally be back in the world he'd missed so much, the world he thought he'd never be able to return too.
Matt had landed by some sort of water fall which was surrounded by grassland. This definitely had to be the digital world, nowhere in Odaiba was there an area like this. He stood up and dusted himself off, his jeans were slightly ripped and had grass stains but he didn't care.
He looked around and took in his surroundings a bit more trying to work out exactly where he'd landed. He knew he'd been here before the last time he was in the digital world, he just couldn't quite put his finger on it.
"I can't believe this," he thought to himself. "I thought I'd never step foot in this world again, I thought we'd lost it forever. But here I am, back in the digital world. I need to tell everyone about this!"
But how could he do that? How could he get back to the human world from here? He and the rest of the digi-destined had never been able to find a specific route back to their home back during their adventure. When he and everyone had returned to the human world last time, it had been out of their control. A giant light had appeared in the sky and sucked them all up and Matt wasn't willing to bet the same would be happening again. As happy as he was to be back, he couldn't help but think about the unsettling possibility that he may be stuck here now, just like TK. His brother had been forced to live in the digital world for years and was here for so long that he eventually became digital himself, meaning that he could never live in the human world again. Least that's what he'd said during the last conversation he and his brother had. What if the same happened to him? What if he ended up trapped and had to leave everyone behind? His father, his mother, Sora…..
"I've got to find someone," he decided now. "I've got to work out exactly how it is I've managed to get back here and how I can get back to my world. I thought Gennai said the digi-gate was closed forever? I want to see Gabumon again, I want to see TK again, I need their help."
Matt began move and search for some sign a life, any digimon who was in the area whom he could speak too and ask question but there appeared to be nobody around.
He must've been somewhere in the digital world's equivalent of the countryside he summarised, somewhere very out of the way. Not far in the distance was a mountain with snow covering the summit. Matt was still sure he'd been here, or hereabouts, once before. But it was a while ago now and he couldn't remember where to go, he'd just have to keep walking and hope he'd find someone or something. Eventually his hopes came to reality as his patience was rewarded.
"THERE!" he said aloud as finally a familiar sight came into his view. "I know that place, that's…. that's Primary Village!"
Now Matt remembered why he remembered this area, he had been here before. The mountain in the distance was the where he and Gabumon had landed after being blasted here by Devimon whilst everyone else was blasted to separate locations. Primary Village was were TK and Patamon had ended up. Man oh man how that all felt like an age ago.
"There's got to be someone there who recognises me," Matt thought to himself now as he broke into a run, as was his desperation to get there. "Maybe it's even where Patamon and TK live now."
Back in the human world
Sora was back in her apartment after being walked home by Matt. She opened the front door and stepped inside.
"Sora sweetie, is that you?" came her mother's voice from the kitchen.
"Yeah mom," she replied as she slid off her tennis shoes. "I just got home."
"Where have you been?" he mother called.
"Matt took me out for ice cream after tennis, then we quickly dropped by at a friend's."
"I really wish you would have called."
"Oh mom don't worry," Sora told her mother as she came to join her in the kitchen now. "I was with Matt, nothing will ever happen to me. Plus my cell phone was low on battery anyway."
Sora's mother was by nature a worrier and her concern could sometimes be over-bearing. It was only in recent times that Sora began to fully understand and appreciate her mother's actions and attitudes more, in the past she had rebelled against it and had caused a slight rift between them. Not anymore, now they were closer than ever.
"Have you eaten yet?" her mother now enquired.
"I had some ice cream like I just said."
"I meant like a hot meal, you need a proper supper if you're going to keep your energy levels up darling."
"No then," Sora replied. "I'm going to take a shower then I'll have something from the microwave when I'm done."
"I'll make you something now," Toshiko said now, giving her daughter a rare smile. "You go into the bathroom now by the time you're finished it will be ready for you."
"Yeah, that sounds great," said the redhead with a beam now. "Thanks mom."
Sora gave her mom a quick hug before indeed heading towards the bathroom for her shower. Sora turned on the water and stripped off her tennis outfit. She looked herself over in the mirror before jumping in.
Whilst she washed herself and let the hot water pour down her skin, Sora thought Matt and what Izzy had told them. This is was also so worrying yet interesting, what could this email that Izzy showed them mean? Was it really from the digital world? Did any of their friends send it? Was it Gennai? What if it wall just spam and Matt was getting worked up over nothing?
Matt was still hurting over what happened in the summer, heck they all were. TK was their friend, but now he was gone forever. But her boyfriend and his family were hurting far than anyone else could comprehend. Matt had lost his brother. Nancy and Hiroaki had lost their son. They'd done fantastically well to all bond together as a family and move forward with their lives and Sora was thankful to be a small part of it. However, her fear though was if Matt, and possibly his parents if he told them, got their hopes up and would then have them dashed. What were really the chances anything would come from this? Not high in her honest opinion.
Sora eventually finished her shower and wrapped towel's around her frame and hair. She went into the kitchen to find the meal her mother promised her was indeed ready. She sat down to eat and tried to take her mind off her troubling thoughts, but her mother's next question made this impossible.
"How is Matt then?" she asked as she cleared away the dishes.
"He's…. fine," Sora replied.
"When do you think I'll meet his mother and father?" Toshiko enquired.
"Oh er…. I'm not sure."
"How come? Are you trying to avoid me meeting them?"
"No mom of course not," Sora said honestly. "It's not that at all. They just…. they just have a lot of things going on at the moment."
"Oh…. I see," her mother realised. She understood what Sora was talking about and quietly dropped the subject. The summer just gone was something she didn't ever want to talk or think about ever again.
Meanwhile…..
"Where's Patamon or Elecmon, are they here?" Matt asked frantically.
"Elecmon is off fishing near the river and Patamon went away," explained one of the baby digimon, dozens of whom were all excitedly jumping around their new human visitor.
Frustrated and slightly annoyed at their giddiness, Matt tried asking for someone else.
"What about TK, is TK here?!"
The looks of puzzlement on their little faces gave him his answer before any of them even spoke.
"TK? Who's that?"
"Never heard of any TK, is that a digimon?"
"Is TK a food?"
"Damn," Matt thought to himself. Obviously his brother didn't live here in Primary Village. He eventually just realised he'd have to wait for someone to come to him so he asked when Elecmon or Patamon would be expected back.
"Elecmon will be back really soon," said one of the babies. "He went to catch fishys for our supper and said he'd return before sun-down. Patamon may not be back for a long time though."
"I'll guess I'll just have to wait here," Matt summarised out loud. "Elecmon will be able to point me in the right direction of TK or Gabumon."
"Gabumon? We know him!"
"YOU DO!" exclaimed Matt now, desperate to hear more about his friend.
"Yeah, he comes by sometimes with his all these other digimon. He's really friendly and so are his friends."
"He sure is," Matt smiled. "Do you know where he is now? Where he and all the others' digimon live?"
"No," another baby said. "But Elecmon or Patamon probably do."
"Thanks, I'll be sure to ask him about that too."
Later….
Elecmon did indeed return to Primary Village before too long with a feast of caught fish for the babies and he was very surprised to see Matt was there. He agreed to talk and answer any questions the digi-destined had for him, but only after cooking the fish and feeding his rambunctious flock. Matt, being a great cook as his friends often complimented him, offered to help.
After feeding the young and settling them down, Matt and Elecmon headed off somewhere quiet to talk in private. It was dark now, the sun had set and all the infants were nodding off to sleep.
"So my boy, what are you doing back here in the digital world?" Elecmon asked.
"I don't know," Matt told him. "I really don't understand how exactly it is that this has happened. Back in the human world, our digivices have been stagnant for quite a while. We didn't think we'd ever be able to open the digi-gate and come back here, but then out of nowhere my friend Izzy got this strange email full of digital text. I flashed my digivice happened and the next thing I knew I was here."
Elecmon tried to keep up with what he was being told but got lost half-way through.
"Well, that really is a strange thing huh?" he mused. "Well I'm sorry kid but I'm afraid something like that is way out my league, I can't explain it for you. You're better speaking to Gennai and getting answers off of him."
"But where is Gennai? How do I get ahold of him?"
"Sorry, but I don't know that either."
Matt sighed.
"Well, do you at least know where Gabumon is? Or my brother, TK?"
Elecmon's ears perked up now.
"Well you've asked me at least one question I do know the answer too," he smiled. "Gabumon and all the digimon who teamed up with you guys, they all live back on File Island."
"Where we first met them all," Matt remembered.
"TK though? Sorry but I ain't seen that guy for a loooooong time now," he explained. "He used to live here you know, many years ago now. He helped out by training the babies to become strong digimon and he was really good at it too. Eventually though he got bored and moved on. I wouldn't mind seeing him again myself to be honest, I've always had a soft spot for him."
"Would Patamon know where he is?" Matt asked.
"I dunno, maybe?" wondered Elecmon. "Patamon stayed here with me to continue to raise the babies but I think he and TK sometimes kept in touch. Just Patamon went away a few days ago to look for something, he wouldn't say what. I've got no idea when he'll ever come back."
Matt thought some more now. He really wanted to know as much about TK as possible, but Elecmon was clearly short on answers. Who else would know where his brother could be or what he'd been up too.
"Do you know Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon?" he now asked. "They're friends of my brother too, they might know where he is."
"Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon? Yeah I know those two, really funny guys. They live on the coast somewhere, it's not TOO far from here I think."
"Can you take me there?"
"I can't take you all the way there no because I can't wander too far from the village, the babies need me. However, I can draw you a basic map of this continent and show you what direction to walk in."
"That will do fine," Matt nodded appreciatively.
"Okay then," Elecmon smiled. "Well it's too dark for you to go anywhere now so you're more than welcome to stay here for the night. In the morning you can head on your way to find your friends."
"Thanks Elecmon," Matt smiled. "You've been a huge help, I really mean that."
Hope you enjoyed that. I know not a lot happened but I'll get too it, I promise. You know patience is the key when reading my stories and you know I can deliver good stuff after some building up, even if it just takes a while. A new chapter will be up before New Year, I swear it! Please rate and review and have a Happy Christmas!
