Disclaimer: I don't own the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Author's Note: Thanks so much! This was a FanFiction Request, though it's supposed to be a Male Reader you can (if you wish) read it as Gender Neutral. So guys, I'm doing a collab story with another author on DeviantArt! It's a Raph x Reader and so far we've got two chapters done, though I'm not certain when it'll be posted. I'll be sure to let you all know. Also I can't believe I forgot in my last update that I wanted to say something else about Mondo, like I love Donnie's face when April calls him cute and he is all "You're not so bad yourself sweetheart." I laughed so hard (probably harder than I should have XD). And! I'm reopening my request waiting list, yay. ^^ Oh and totally wrote this with Just the Girl by click five ( I think that's right ) in mind.
April x (Male) Reader (2012)
Circling over the tatami your (e/c) stare locked onto those determined baby blues, a small smirk of confidence crawled over your lips. Finally the first move was made, keeping her stance strong April threw the first punch, which you easily dodged. Careful of your footing you countered, her arm shooting up to block the strike, the pace quickly picking up as you traded blows. Rolling away from another one of her strikes you leg swept her, landing on her back she quickly popped back up, the both of you taking deep breaths preparing for the next opportune moment to attack. Drawing her tessen the red head struck quickly, you barely managed to move out of the way in time. Ever since the invasion her, Leo and Raph have really upped the ante during training. Blocking the next blow with your tonfa, you forced her back earning a bit of breathing room.
Watching her take a stance you gripped your weapon tighter. Those normally warm, innocent, soft baby blues were now staring you down with a bitter cold glare, like sharp shards of ice stabbing into your whole frame. You'd seen her around school before but you never would have guessed that behind the seeming anti-social bookworm facade was a compassionate, funny yet fiery and sly devil. The night you learned her and Casey's secret pass time, quite a few doors had opened, not to mention the super dope friends you've made through them. The sudden impact of the back of her tessen being jabbed into your side pulled you back from your thoughts. Stumbling back back from the blow and holding your side you tried to regain your bearings. Acting rashly you struck with as much force as you could muster, taking hold of your wrist and using your own momentum like Master Splinter had shown her, April tossed you over slamming you onto the ground.
Laying on the tatami mat with eyes wide in both shock and pain from the wind being knocked out of you. "Dang son! You got it handed to you dog, way to go April!" Mikey cheered from the other side of the room. "You okay?" She asked extending her hand out to you. "Yeah," you nodded taking it and letting her help you up. "You both are improving your skills quite rapidly, however I suggest that you, (Y/n) whether only sparring or not remain focused." Splinter said before dismissing you. "Hai Sensei," you replied as you both bowed to the ninja master. Exiting the dojo you rubbed your now sore shoulder, collecting your bag from beside the couch and slinging it over your other shoulder you started to leave. "Hey (Y/n) where are you going?" Leo asked from where he sat. "Out, probably going to grab a bite." You called back. "Eh he's probably ticked that he got it handed to em by April," Raph teased with a smug smirk. The sound of him getting a swift whack from Splinter's cane put a smile on your face as you continued out of the lair.
Climbing up the ladder you pushed the manhole cover up to make sure it was all clear before moving it then pulling yourself up and as you were about to push it back into place you were stopped by a certain red head. "Leaving pretty early?" You asked holding a hand out to her. "Figured I could spend a day on the surface, besides you said you were going grab a bite, right?" She inquired as you pulled her up. "What about Casey?" You asked as you both pushed the heavy cover back where it belonged. "He'll have to resort to asking Donnie for help on his homework," she shrugged dusting off her hands. "Guess so," you smirked and started to walk. "So where are we going? Mr. Murakami's isn't that far from here," she said holding the strap of her bag as she caught up. You thought about it for a moment, "Murakami's is fine." You answered turning the corner.
Entering the restaurant you both sat at the counter, setting your bags in chairs beside you. "Hello Murakami-san," April smiled. "Ah good afternoon April and (Y/n)," he smiled as he finished wiping down the counter. "It still confuses me as to how you can always tell when I'm around," you softly laughed. "It's a secret of mine, so what can I get you?" He asked setting the rag to the side. "I'll have an order of pizza gyoza please," April answered brushing a few strands of her hair behind her ear. He gave a gentle laugh, "Of course, and for you?" He asked turning toward you. "Oh, I'll have the same." You replied earning another chuckle. "You guys really do like them don't you?" He asked as he started to prepare them. "Of course, they're amazing Murakami-san." April replied making the middle-aged man blush. "I'm glad to hear it," he smiled.
"Tanoshimimasu," Murakami said as he set your plates down. "Itadakimasu," April said bowing her head. "Thank you," you said after glancing over at her then back to your food. Picking up and popping one of the pot stickers into your mouth you silently ate. "So you're not mad about the whole sparring thing are you?" April asked pushing one of her gyoza over her plate. "Course not, why would you think I was?" You asked quirking a brow. "Well I heard Raph teasing and just thought..." She answered with a soft sigh. "Pft. Sure my pride my be a little damaged but that's no reason to get angry," you shrugged and gave her a playful push. Relieved that you didn't think much of it she let out a laugh, "Yeah, I guess not." She smiled and pushed back.
Even after you both finished you stayed a while and chatted with Murakami. After paying for your meals you both said your goodbyes to the kind owner and headed out. "It's still pretty early are you going to head back to the lair?" April asked gazing up at the darkened sky. You gave a shrug, "Are you?" You asked. "I don't see why not, even if the guys are on patrol I could still do my homework until they get back." She shrugged. "I guess I can endure a bit of teasing." You chuckled making her roll her eyes playfully. A little bit into your walk back April burped, covering her mouth she blushed, "E-excuse me." She muttered. Blinking in surprise you laughed, "Do I smell a challenge?" You asked making her turn to you and quirk a brow.
Holding a fist to your chest you let out a loud belch, making her eyes widen in shock and her mouth fall open. "I-I didn't intend to burp out loud, you know?" She asked turning from you. "So are you admitting defeat?" You asked raising a brow. Slightly turning her head to cast you an amused smirk she quirked a brow, "You think after the but whooping I gave you I'd simply be one upped now?" She asked. "Well?" You challenged. The two of you burped and laughed as you continued back to your friends' home. As you reached the manhole April let out a loud and powerful one. "Dang girl," you marveled before trying to one up her but found you had no more gas, literally. "Looks like I win. Twice in a day, I'm on a roll." She smiled lowering herself into the smelly hole. Yeah, from first glance you'd never assume that April O'neil was definitely not one of your everyday average teenage girls, and there isn't another way you'd ever want her to be.
