Chapter 46

"Yeah...you totally hate cuddle..." Bo murmured in a whisper when she noticed that Tamsin was snuggling to her side in her dreams. The Valkyrie rested her head on Bo's chest, and gripped her fingers with her own, like she was afraid that Bo would be gone in her sleep.

Bo sighed, before she lowered her head to give the blonde a light kiss on her lips. Tamsin seemed so soft and vulnerable right now, like she had been battling against something for her entire life, and finally found somewhere to rest. The softer the Valkyrie looked right now, the more it reminded Bo how tough and stubborn she was when she was awake. She found it kinda funny, yet at the same time, making her heart ache.

"Why do you have to be so impossible?" Bo asked in a whisper, as she caressed Tamsin's cheek with her thumb. "Why can't you just tell me what's going on in your mind, or what's going on with you?"

The blonde answered her with a soft moan in her deep dreams.

Knowing for sure that Tamsin was in sound sleep, Bo tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, and whispered, "Do you know that...you are that Valkyrie, Tamsin?" Once those words had left her lips, she felt like her heart had just stopped, even though she knew there was no way Tamsin could have heard her. This question had been hovering on her tongue ever since she found out that Tamsin was that Valkyrie who had fallen and died for her, yet she never got the courage to say that out loud. Every time when she thought about telling the blonde, she feared that Tamsin would just pull away, so far away that she could never have her back again. Huffing out a light laugh, Bo murmured, "If you knew, you'd kick my ass furiously, and then...find a way to forget about it, right? It's just too damn stupid to fall for a sex demon like me, and it's not something you want to remember...and-"

A barely audible moan coming from Tamsin interrupted Bo. The Valkyrie curled up in her arms, and her sudden movement scared Bo. She froze there, with her breath held. For a second or two, she thought Tamsin woke up and heard what she had just said. However, the blonde just murmured something in her dreams, before she went quiet again.

Bo let out a deep breath, and laughed at herself for being so scared. She thought maybe she should just spit it out and get it over with, because it had been buried in her heart for too long and too deep, but she just didn't want to lose Tamsin, especially not after she dragged her back from the Queen's torture room.

"Everyone deserves a little secret or two, right?" Bo whispered as she smiled bitterly. When she thought about that, the image of Tamsin dying in her arms occupied her mind, bringing a bittersweet explosion to her chest. That memory hurt so much, that she could hardly breathe. Tamsin had died for her once, and she almost died for her again. That thought just made Bo's heart ache. And what ached her heart more, was the blonde would rather just leave her in the dark, than tell her anything. She hid her true intentions behind those smart retorts and snarky comments, and ran away every time when there was something about to happen between them.

Or was there anything between them? It was another question that had been haunting Bo the whole time, and she was too afraid to find out the answer. Tamsin did tell her that she never stopped wanting her, once, when she was completely wasted. Was that just the alcohol talking, or Tamsin talking? Bo wouldn't know. She regretted of driving Tamsin away that day, because if she hadn't, she might have already found out the truth that day. And now, the right time had already passed, and the only answer she could get from Tamsin right now, would probably be denial, dodging, and retort.

Yeah, maybe I just need to wait for the right time. Bo thought, as she sighed again. She laid a kiss on the blonde's cheek, before she started to think about the questions she had for Tamsin in her mind. There were so many, that she didn't even know where to start. And there's the whole Freyja and my father shit to solve too. Bo thought. Endless questions, no answers, story of my life. Guess I'll try to figure out this stalker situation first.

After inputting the last few fingerprints into the system, Bo waited for the results as she twirled a lock of Tamsin's hair with her index finger. Just when she was wondering how Tamsin would react to the intimate situation they were in right now when she woke up, the blonde opened her blue eyes. She was a little confused for a second or two, before she frowned at that hair lock of hers in Bo's hand. She shot Bo a cold stare, before she pulled her hair out and moved away from Bo's embrace.

Clearing her throat, Tamsin sat up and covered herself with a shirt, to avoid Bo's teasing and lustful gaze. "Anything popped up yet?" she asked as she combed her hair with her hands and tied it as a messy bun behind her head.

"No-" Bo shook her head, but was interrupted by the beeping noise from the laptop. "Actually, yes..." she murmured after she quickly skimmed through the results given by the Valkyrie database searching system. "How can the system give me two different results on one set of fingerprints?"

"Let me see," Tamsin replied as she pulled the laptop towards her. She frowned at Bo, who immediately snuggled closer to her side with her chin resting on her shoulder, and waited for the brunette to take the hint and move away, but Bo responded her stare by tucking even closer. Tamsin rolled her eyes, and continued, "these are not two different results. It's the same guy, if you remove the mustache from this one, and add some weight, put him on a different hair style..."

"Yeah, I can see the facial resemblance," Bo said, "but the names and all other information are completely different."

"That's because at least one of them is fake," Tamsin said. "And I am willing to bet it's the one from the local DMV, 'cause apparently, the other is from the Valkyrie database itself, and it looks like..." She paused there for a few seconds, frowning at the things she read from the files, before she continued, "...this guy has been in the Valkyrie database for a while, and the reason he's in the system, is that he's linked to something names Project P."

"Wait, Project P?" Bo murmured.

"Why? You know what it is?"

"No, well, I mean, when we scanned my fingerprint in, you know, before we..." Bo stopped and chuckled, her eyes staring at Tamsin.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fucking aware what we've done," Tamsin said in a sigh. "What's your point?"

"Well, after that you fell asleep, I read the files that the system had on me. Apparently I was linked to some Project P too."

"Huh," Tamsin murmured, surprised by what Bo had told her. She grabbed Bo's hand and swiped her index finger on the scanner again, wanting to make sure what Bo had told her was true. A few minutes later, Bo's files popped out on the screen. She quickly read through everything, and found out that on the last page, it said that Bo was linked to Project P.

"Whoa, as someone who has a case on me, you look really surprised," Bo said as she observed the look on Tamsin's face.

"That's because when I got the case, this page was not in the file folder. And I've never had a reason to look you up in the system myself," Tamsin replied. "I've never heard of a Project P either." She paused there, biting her nail, frowning, while murmuring the name Project P over and over again, until something occurred to her. "Project P," she said. "Remember that video we found in the Una Mens' place, introduction to Project Pyrippus. Project Pyrippus. Project P."

"Well that does sound like-" Bo murmured. "Any info about this project in your Valkyrie database?"

Tamsin clicked on the name of the project. A warning window popped out, telling them that the current user was not authorized to see the information related to it. "Oh great," Tamsin grunted as she rolled her eyes.

"Maybe we can hack into the Valkyrie database and-"

"-and get your cute little ass busted?"

"How the hell are we gonna figure out what this Project Pyrippus is then?" Bo asked. "And why would anyone who's linked to that pose as an electrician here? I thought we were here to catch a stalker."

"I doubt there was ever a stalker here," Tamsin said. " I would say a stalker would at least grab a pair of Evony's pantyhose, but nothing has been reported missing. Also, you really think the Morrigan, the leader of the Dark Fae, can't handle a stalker herself? I think she probably knows something's up, but she doesn't want to get her hands dirty, so she hired your pet, and Vex."

"Okay, let's say that's true," Bo said. "Then who left the forced entry evidences? Who broke in?"

"Someone who is looking for something valuable, since those evidences are found in her library, where she holds her secret meetings and keeps her safety boxes," Tamsin replied as she looked through the photos Kenzi and Vex took during the investigation. "All the other fingerprints came back clean, except this electrician guy, Dave as in DMV record, or Marcus as in the Valkyrie database, whatever his real name is. He's after something for sure."

"He's already an employee here, why would he have to break in?" Bo asked. "This doesn't make sense."

"He may not be the only person who's after that something valuable," Tamsin said. "And this shit is serious."

"Then we need to figure out what they are after," Bo said. "Good thing is whatever it is, they haven't found it yet, because Dave hasn't disappeared yet."

"Well, I think it's time for us to pay this Dave a visit," Tamsin said as she copied the electrician's address into her cell phone. "Then you can make yourself useful," she added, as she jumped off the bed to get dressed.

"Oh I think I've made myself useful in plenty of occasions," Bo said teasingly, her eyes staring at the hickey on the blonde's inner thigh.

"Well, according to his wife, Dave is doing a night shift," Bo murmured, after they both got out of the house which address was listed under the name Dave.

"Bullshit, no electrician is on shift tonight at Evony's place," Tamsin said. "She's lying. It's just that she's a sex demon too, and she's immune to your charms."

"I guess I'll call Dyson to locate his phone then. Probably faster than to check every addresses that is listed under Dave, or Marcus," Bo said as she took out her phone.

"Probably faster if I call Herja," Tamsin said.

"Because the police system is a piece of crap, and the Valkyrie system is super badass?" Bo asked in a teasing tone.

Tamsin huffed, before she opened the car door and got in. Then she called Herja. "Hey, I need the location of a phone," she said.

"Can't you do that by accessing the central computer with the login I gave you?"

"I can, but I figure it's more fun to interrupt your night club session for that," Tamsin said. Then she froze, when she realized that Bo had taken her empty hand in hers, and started to caress her skin with her thumb. She wanted to pull her hand out immediately, but before she could, she met Bo's eyes. The brunette stared at her, smiling, her eyes sparkling, as she slowly intertwined their fingers together. Then, both paused there, their fingers tightly entangled together. Tamsin lowered her head, biting her bottom lip, trying to act normal, but couldn't control her brightened aura when she felt Bo's passionate gaze on her.

"...are you still there?" Herja's voice suddenly came to Tamsin through the phone. She clear her throat, and replied, "yeah."

"I'm gonna text you the location," Herja said, "and then I'm back to my drinking game."

"Yeah...emmm..." Tamsin murmured.

"Anything else I can do for you tonight?" Herja asked.

"Have you ever heard of a Project P?" Tamsin asked.

"Project P? No, what is it?" Herja said.

"Nothing," Tamsin said. "Never mind."

"Okay, anything else?"

"Yeah...the files you gave me. The files on...Bo. Did you give me everything that is on her?"

"Yeah, I think so, anything that the system popped out on her," Herja said. "Why do you ask? Are you still working on her case? I thought I told you to focus on the candy factory case, because her case is no longer active."

"Yeah, whatever, just go back to your drinking game, sister."

"Sure, so much pleasure to help someone with absolutely no gratitude," Herja replied before she hung up.

Tamsin tucked her phone back to her jacket pocket after she read Herja's text. "Oh great," she said. "It's the fucking house we just visited. He must have left his phone there, so no one can trace his location."

"Then what do we do now?"

"I guess we search every known address that are listed under both names first," Tamsin said. "Even if we can't find him, we might be able to hit some of his hidden stash or something at those locations. We can always grab him at Evony's place when he's at work later."

"Okay, sounds great," Bo replied as she buckled up.

Tamsin pulled her hand out from Bo's and started the car. She had to take a deep breath, because the lingering warmth of Bo's on her hand made it quiver a little.

"So, Herja has no idea about the Project P thing, I guess?" Bo asked as she observed the look on Tamsin's face.

"No," Tamsin shook her head. "Well, she could be lying."

"She's not immune to Succubus power, is she?"

Tamsin smiled. "Maybe some other time, sweetheart," she said. "Right now let's find this Dave guy first."

Bo and Tamsin visited a few addresses that were listed under Dave's and Marcus' name, but they were either empty, or gone. When they reached the last location on the list, it was already after midnight.

The address was out of town, and it was an isolated old house. The only things that were around it, were trees and tall grass. The nearest neighbors were at least half a mile away.

"Another empty house, I guess," Bo said.

"Let's find out," Tamsin said as she approached the door.

"Are we gonna knock first, and pretend we are some sort of...law enforcement officers or sneak in?"

"I guess sneak in is more fun," Tamsin said as she scrunched her nose. She picked the lock and pushed the door open. After making sure no attacks were coming from inside, she stepped into the house with her dagger drawn in her hand. Bo followed her, and closed the door behind her.

The house was old, and empty. Other than a few pieces of furniture, which looked like someone had picked up from a junkyard, there was nothing in there. When Bo turned on her flashlight and checked the kitchen, she scared a group of rats, who panicked and ran away to hide.

"It looks like the kitchen hasn't been used for quite a while," Bo said as she turned back to the living room. She stepped forward and the floor squeaked under her foot.

"Are you trying to alert an army or something?" Tamsin hissed in a barely audible voice.

"Gee, I'm sorry if the floor of some damn old house squeaks," Bo retorted in a whisper.

"Maybe you should consider eating less candy bars, sweetheart, so you can pack less weight on your butt."

"Yeah, great idea, if I can have someone that can actually keep me fully fed every night," Bo grunted. Then, she found herself looking at the blonde, as if that someone she mentioned was her. The idea of Tamsin keeping her fully fed every night made her hunger spike, and she loved how the Valkyrie collapsed into her arms after she was exhausted from all the sex and the feeding. Suddenly she couldn't tell whether it was the sex, or the cuddling, that she enjoyed more.

"Yeah, yeah, this way," Tamsin whispered before she started to walk again. She had no intention of getting any deeper on this conversation. As much as she wanted to run away from getting any more intimate with Bo, she definitely didn't want to think about Bo feeding off someone either.

Bo wanted to say something, but before she did, the Valkyrie stopped her by pressing her index finger on her lips. Then the blonde nodded at her, before she pointed at the half opened door to the bedroom, which had some dim light coming out through the door.

Tamsin pulled Bo behind her, before she lightly pushed on the door. Then she quietly entered the room, before she found a hatch door on the floor. The light they saw was coming through the cracks on the door.

"I guess there's someone living in here afterall," Bo whispered, as she pulled on the hatch door.

Tamsin wanted to say something, but she never got the chance, when she heard a slight noise the moment Bo opened the hatch, like some sort of mechanism was triggered. Knowing that it was from a boody trap, but having no time to warn the brunette, Tamsin grabbed her waist and pulled her back as hard as she could.

Then there was the loud gunshot sound. Both of them were pushed back by the impact, and fell on the floor. Tamsin immediately rolled on her knees, and checked Bo. When she saw the blood gushing out from Bo's chest, she froze there. Then she yelled at the brunette, asking her if she was okay, but she could barely hear herself through that ringing in her ears. The brunette was panting, with her hand pressing on her wound. She reached her other hand out towards Tamsin, like she wanted to grabbed her so she could pull herself up.

"Hey, hey hey hey," Tamsin said as she grabbed Bo's hand. "It's okay. It's okay. You just need to feed. Just feed, okay?" She had no idea if Bo could hear or not, so she wasted no time to kiss the brunette on her lips, hoping that Bo could start feeding off her before she passed out.

Right before their lips touched, Tamsin felt something hard pressing on the back of her head. Then there was the sound of someone loading a shotgun.

"Turn around slowly. Hands where I can see," a man's voice said, as the shotgun pressed harder against Tamsin's head.

Slowly turning to facing the person who was talking, Tamsin recognized him as the man they were looking for. Dave, or Marcus, or whatever his name was. He was holding a shotgun, and it was pointing at her head. "Hands where I can see!" he repeated impatiently.

Fuck. Tamsin thought as she slowly raised her hands, her eyes going back to Bo, who had a bleeding gunshot wound on her chest and was losing consciousness.
