Sorry it took so long to get this out everyone! I had a lot of one shots to write and I really needed to take a break from all of that! It just became way too outrageous with all of them and nearly killed my imagination trying to come up with ideas right on the spot for them with nothing to go by!
Anyway here is a special on the twins that was suggested by one of the readers! I didn't really know what to put in there, so I kind of just gave a small view of when they were pre-teens and then around Ace and Crystal's age when they went to sea themselves. Hope all of you like it!
3 you all so much!
"Finally! Land!" Phoenix shouted as he stepped onto land and stretched his arms above his head.
"It feels like forever since we've hit one!" Maya agreed, landing softly next to him.
"Oi! Don't go too far!" Ace shouted down to them as he looked over the side of the ship at his kids that were about to run off.
"Let them be," Crystal told him, placing a hand on his arm. The two kids giggled and ran off towards the town, but didn't go far in so they could still see the ship. "They're 13 now they can handle themselves."
"But they're still kids," He sighed in worry as he looked at her with downcasted eyes.
"You were able to handle yourself, Luffy, and Me all at the age of 9." She told him with a small laugh, patting his arm again and tapping her finger on his nose. "if it worries you so much, then you can help with the ship and I'll go with them."
"Please?" Ace said, not giving the answer she really expected, but chuckling anyway.
"Alright mister worry wart." She said, kissing his cheek quickly before flinging herself over the side of the ship and landing on the dock with a thud and then ran over to the kids who were slack jawed at the sight of this new town.
"Why does dad worry so much?" Phoenix sighed, linking his hands behind his head.
"He still see's you two as toddlers still wobbling around the Moby." She told him, ruffling his shaggy hair that hit just below his ears. "Now go. Here's some money to buy what you want. Just be sure to stay within sight….Oh! And stay together please!"
Crystal watched as Maya and Phoenix all but rocketed away from her and towards the stores in a rush, looking back occasionally at their mother to see if they could still see her. Crystal couldn't believe how grown up they were becoming. Phoenix was looking more like her everyday with his shaggy blonde hair and light blue eyes. His features were still soft like a child's, but the air around him made him seem like an adult; plus the girls were already going after him and his good looks. He was already passing his mother in height and hit her nose with the top of his head already; he'll be tall like Ace for sure.
Maya on the other hand was built more like Crystal, smaller, yet curvier too. At the age of 13 she was already starting to get the curved hourglass figure. Her dark hair was long and wavy now, getting curlier the older she got like her mother. Her eyes were just like Crystal's too, and they seemed to capture people in them as she smiled.
"Sorry!" Maya apologized as she bumped lightly into an older lately. She turned immediately and righted the woman with a smile, bowing to her repeatedly to show her regret. The woman waved her off with a smile of her own, setting Maya at ease. "Phoenix! I want this!"
Phoenix looked over at his sister in wonder, curious as to what she had decided to get already. He groaned and slumped his shoulders as he saw the light blue summer dress that had a three finger length sleeve and made an ever so slight 'U' neck line. It would hit just below the knee's and was flowing almost like water.
"Why do you want something so girly?" He sighed, looking at his sister in exasperation at her choice. "Why not a sword or dagger? Or maybe some kind of more useful clothing?"
Maya furrowed her brows and turned on her brother, placing her hands on her hips and blowing her cheeks out in a pout. A habit taken from her mother when she herself pouted towards Ace. "It's my share of the money. So let me decide what I want!" She argued, holding her hand out for the bag to take her share to use.
The shop keeper was all but happy to see the children walk in with the bag of money, seeing them as an easy catch to con more money out of. He took the chance as Maya looked at the dress from inside and he swooped in.
"My, my, such a good eye you have! Perfect for someone as delicate as you!" He said, rubbing his hands together at her.
Phoenix snickered at what the shop keeper had said, knowing Maya was far from delicate. The snicker made Maya pout again and jab her elbow into Phoenix and make him shut up while wincing in pain. She turned a smile on the shop keeper and pulled the dress down.
"I'd like this please!" She said excitedly, placing it on the check out counter with a slight bounce in her steps.
"Right away! That'll be 100 Beli!" He said, holding out his greedy hand towards her.
Maya furrowed her brows in confusion and frustration, not understanding how the dress could be so expensive. That was her share and Phoenix's combined; and she definitely didn't want to take her brother's share for something she didn't really need.
"Hey! That can't be right!" Phoenix shouted, glaring at the man. He was angry at the shop keeper because he knew this was a con, but there wasn't anyway for him to prove it. The disappointed look on his sister's face made him very protective and he was desperate to get the dress for her.
"It is though! This is fine silk! The kind royals use in their formal clothing! For dances and dinners with other rich people!" He said, putting on a serious face as he put a finger in the air. "You're lucky I brought it down so low for you!"
"Royal silk, you say?"
"Why yes…!" The shop keeper brought his smile up to the new customer he could con with it.
"Mom!" Phoenix said surprised, and then furrowing his brows to show her his frustration with the man.
"This isn't even close to royal silk." She said, rubbing the material in between her fingers. "Too coarse and thick for that. This would be lucky to even be counted as cotton."
The shop keeper turned red in the face for being found out in his lie. "How would you know?! You probably haven't met a royal in your life!" He accused, pointing a finger at her, which only made her raise an eyebrow and smirk at the amusement.
"I have actually. Made friends with a lot of them too." Crystal said, crossing her arms over her chest with a huff. She dug in her bag and brought out a Den Den Mushi, looking at him with that hiked eyebrow again. "Would you like me to call one up and show them?"
The shop keeper was sweating now as he looked from the phone to Crystal who had a serious look upon her face, convincing him she wasn't lying about that. He thrummed his fingers together as he desperately tried to think of another excuse or a con to get him the money yet out of this situation.
"Fine! I'll throw in this shirt with the dress for 100 Beli!" He said, tossing a shirt nearby onto the counter.
"You think I'd by both of these for 100? I'll give you 25." Crystal said confidently, jutting out her hip.
"Who says you can determine the worth of my clothes? Who do you think you are?" He said, anger growing increasingly at her as he looked her up and down, trying to size her up.
"What's going on?" Ace said, walking in with Sabo, Marco, Sierra, and Lily.
The shop keeper drew in a sharp breath as he recognized the men who walked in. The seat ran down him like a water fall as he watched Fire Fist Ace walk over to the blonde he was just arguing with and wrap and arm around her waist. Realization finally hit him as she glanced back at the shop keeper.
"y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-you're Tenshi No Crystal!" He shouted with eyes popping out of his head.
She tilted her head at him, wondering why he was shouting that out now. "Didn't you already know that?"
"Here! You can have these!" He said, pushing the clothes forward towards them.
Crystal sighed and shook her head, wondering why most people acted terrified of them whenever they finally figured out who they were. "Here," She said, setting down 25 Beli like she had negotiated before. "Tell him thank you," She told Maya who put on a bright smile and thank the man.
The shop keeper didn't seem so scared as he saw Maya and Crystal smile at each other in joy. Maya because she got the dress, and Crystal because Maya was happily smiling at them. But even as the crew left he was able to let out a deep breath he didn't know he was holding, knowing their power as members of the Whitebeard crew.
"Those look nice." Ace said, spinning his finger around to make his two girls spin and show him.
The dress was perfect on Maya and made her look much more like Crystal now; almost like when she wore her summer dress occasionally. The shirt the shop keeper threw in surprisingly fit Crystal well. It was a blue halter top that tied around her neck and just above her blue jean shorts, leaving her whole back open. There were ruffles on the front just under her chest that had a 'U' neck to it also.
"Look mom! I have a dress too! Almost like yours!" Maya said, spinning around repeatedly and feeling the dress flying around with her.
Crystal ran her fingers through Maya's hair with a smile and kissed her forehead. "Careful, you'll make your dad jealous with how pretty you are. The boys will be storming after you."
Ace's ears perked up and suddenly he was next to Maya with his arms around her as he looked around with narrowed eyes at any guys that could possibly be staring at his daughter. Maya giggled as her mom winked at her, making the girl feel great with how she looked.
"What did you get?" She asked Phoenix, holding out her hand for the dagger he held. "This is nice! Now you and Ace can spare with one another."
Phoenix's eyes lightened as he looked around excitedly. "Really? I can do that?"
"Why not? You're old enough." She pulled him in close and whispered to him in a soft voice. "If he goes to hard on you just call for me and I'll show him what a real beating is."
Phoenix laughed at the thought of his father getting in trouble from his mom. But somehow seeing how grown up her twins were getting made her kind of sad. She didn't want to let them go so quickly, but they were getting older fast and soon they may not want to be a pirate or part of the whitebeard crew.
She pulled Phoenix into her arms, laying her chin on his head carefully. She ignored his embarrassed arguments at her and breathed in this moment where he was still just a child in her mind. It was hard watching them grow up after all.
"Dad!" Maya groaned in irritation as she pushed her arms out.
Ace had a death hold around Maya as he glared around at the boys that quickly disperse in fear from the growling father. Suddenly his ear was pulled sharply making him shout in pain with Crystal standing there with an exasperated look upon her face.
"Really? Let her be." Crystal sighed, shaking her head at Ace who pouted with puppy dog eyes.
"They were crowding around her like she was candy!" He whined, pointing at the boys who were still giving Maya looks.
"Deal with it. She's 17 already." Crystal told him with a pointed look. "Beside's, your son is just as popular with the girls."
Ace smiled at that, earning a slap to his arm at the exasperation upon Crystal now. How he could act so different between the two twins and how many people went after them was insane to her. She shook her head and flicked him in the head.
"Be good," She commanded, treating him like he was a pet to try and make him listen.
It wasn't that Crystal wasn't a little worried and nervous herself; after all the twins had grown into some really good looking young adults. Phoenix was tall and muscular, built very much like Ace if not larger. His eyes had gotten slightly darker over the years, but they still had a playful and mischievous glint to them. His blond hair was now short and slightly spiked.
Maya on the other had was already looking like a full grown woman. Her curves had come out great and quick like Crystal had at her age. Her long dark hair was now curly like her mothers and her eyes were such a bright blue that it was like looking into the waters of the ocean or up into a clear sky. She was slightly taller than Crystal but just as small.
The twins both had gentle faces and long lashes. Maya had full lips and a more slender stature. Phoenix had thinner lips and a larger build, showing the difference in how they grew over the years. Both brought in crowds though of both genders.
Crystal smiled as she watched Phoenix walk over to Maya who was getting surrounded by men again and grabbed his sister's hand, dragging her from the crowd and helping her escape. A faint red blur surrounded the two of them as they walked on ahead with each other, and Crystal had to give a pointed look to the dragon whose eyes were already burning red in protectiveness.
"See? I told you they'd be fine." Crystal told Ace, nodding her head to Ryuuji who was slowly fading away once more. She placed a hand to her chest, picking up the jewel that rested there and smiling. "As long as they keep their necklaces they'll be safe."
"Come on Mom!" Maya shouted back at her, waving her arm over her head and giving a bright smile.
Crystal giggled and shook her head as all the men in the small area grew hearts in their eyes and bled slightly from their noses at the sight of her. Okay maybe they did have a little to worry about if Maya was already becoming so popular.
"You may want to prepare for boyfriends soon." She told Ace seeing the over protective father light up in his eyes as he stormed through the crowd and glared at each and every man who was watching Maya with the emotion filled eyes.
"Hey, mom?" Maya asked as Crystal ran her fingers through Maya's hair.
Since they were going to be on this island for awhile, they decided to find a place where the four of them could finally relax and just spend some time. Thanks goodness there was a small little house with a wide open field next to it that nobody would bother them at…..well not after Ace threatened every man nearby.
"Hm?" She hummed.
"What do you think about me leaving the Moby?" Maya asked quietly, still facing forward towards Phoenix and Ace who were having a sparring match.
Crystal stopped running her fingers through Maya's hair as she felt her heart drop. She knew the day would come, but she didn't expect it already. She always told Ace to be prepared for it, yet she hadn't prepared herself quite well enough.
Maya felt the tension in her mother and quickly turned to look at her. She placed her hands on Crystal's own and made her look into her eyes with panic in her own. "I'm not saying I'm leaving now! I just got to thinking about starting my own life….y'know?"
Crystal clenched her hand around Maya's and warmed her eyes. She breathed in and gathered her emotions together, knowing she could cower out of all of this and freak Maya out with her own insecurities and worries. "Whatever you want to do, I'll support it. But you have to remember Maya, the world out there isn't a nice place. There will be people that come after us because of the blood you have flowing through you."
"I know. You and dad being pirates. And then you have the Hijiri blood with Ryuuji right?" Maya said, making Crystal sit up straight and blink her eyes in surprise. She opened her mouth to ask her daughter how she knew about the Hijiri blood when Maya shrugged. "Grandpa told us a lot when we got curious."
Crystal let out her pent up breath and nodded. She tightened her hold on Maya's hands, feeling regret now that she herself didn't tell the twins about her side of the family and the troubles that came with it. "You two inherited some of that blood, and because of that you have some powers. I'm not saying they're bad to have, but it makes it easier to tell who you are." She looked up at Maya hoping she was understanding all of this. "But as long as you keep this…" She reached up and grabbed Maya's jewel necklace that was exactly like hers. "You'll be safe. You'll be able to call Ryuuji whenever you want and you'll always have me, the moby, grandpa Whitebeard and Garp, your uncles and people who are on my side to help you."
Maya smiled, knowing there were tons of people who were there for her and Phoenix even before they were born. To have so much family to rely on and even more friends they haven't yet met that are there to help made her less anxious and nervous to leave her parents. She nodded to her mother, setting Crystal at ease slightly.
"I knew you'd go one day. Like I said, whatever you and your brother choose to do, I'll support it and let you go through with it." Crystal told her with a bright smile, knowing this is what she was feeling inside.
Crystal never had parents to rely on in her life. Having them taken from her and letting her wander around before she met Ace, Luffy, and Sabo. Even when she met the bandits and the boys, she still was left without parents and had to learn how to keep up in the world.
"Watch out!"
Crystal pulled back with Maya and the two of them flipped up off the ground backwards and landed a few feet from where they were. A small burn circle was there where they were and Crystal raised an eyebrow at Ace who began whistling and trying to walk away slowly.
"How about we teach them a lesson about fighting safely?" Crystal said, cracking her knuckles while giving Maya a smirk.
"Yes, let's." She agreed, before her and her mother quickly walked towards the boys who were already sweating in fear at the wrath about to be unleashed on them from the two women.
"It's time for us to go." Phoenix said, tapping his mother on the arm to make her turn around.
Crystal was desperately fighting the tears back from her eyes as she looked at the bag over Phoenix's arm. Maya was standing slightly off with tears in her eyes already and her own bag over her shoulder. It wasn't long after their talk together that the twins decided they wanted to take their own path and try new things.
"Stay safe out there." Ace said, hugging Phoenix and clapping him on the back. "Here, you'll need this."
"You're dagger? Awesome!" Phoenix said, eyes lighting up in excitement at the thought of having his father's dagger at his side for whatever he got into. Crystal felt a cool wet mass slip down her cheek and Phoenix jerked slightly before taking a step forward with his hands out. "come on mom, don't cry."
He wrapped her up into a tight hug, trying to squeeze her worries out of her. He didn't know what to do with the sight of his mother crying, but he couldn't squeeze her any tighter without crushing her small frame. She wrapped her arms up under his shoulders and cried into his shoulder.
"You better stay in contact with me you hear?" She told him with a slight crack in her voice. "I have to know that you're alright. If I don't hear from you I'm sending a whole rescue fleet after you."
Phoenix chuckled and pulled back, wiping the tears from his mom's eyes and kissing her cheek lovingly. "I promise. We'll visit a lot too and bring back gifts to show you what we've done." It was good that him and Maya were at least staying together on their journey, too close to actually part from one another and neither knowing what to do if they got in trouble without the other one to back them up like normal.
Crystal peered around Phoenix and caught sight of Maya who was already crying and trying to wipe the tears from her face. She rushed over to her daughter and wrapped her up into a warm hug, petting Maya's hair as she cried into Crystal's shoulder and grasped desperately to her mother's shirt.
Crystal pulled back and held Maya's face tenderly in her hands, wiping at the tears on her cheeks so she could get a good look. "Don't worry. You have my fighting spirit. If anything you'll have to rescue your brother when he screws up." She teased, hearing Phoenix let out an argument behind her, but it made Maya laugh and cheer up a bit.
"I'll miss you." Maya cracked out, getting rid of the rest of the tears with the back of her hand.
"We'll always be waiting for if you want to return." Ace said, patting his daughters head and ruffling her hair.
"Just try not to return with too many boyfriends okay?" Crystal winked at her, seeing the gulp that Ace gave and the tensed up muscles at the thought of his daughter with a boy, or even worse more than one. "We don't want to give your father a heart attack."
It was definitely a sight to see when you see all of the whitebeard pirates near tears or already bawling as the twins got onto their boat that Whitebeard gave them, and waved goodbye to their family. Crystal's arm could wave back and forth harder as she continued to wave to them until they could no longer be seen.
"Puru puru puru puru,"
Crystal reached down and grabbed the snail from her bag, looking at it curiously and answering it with a raised eyebrow at Ace and the others who were looking at it in confusion too.
"Miss you guys already." Maya cracked out.
"Oi! Don't call them already!" Phoenix argued in the background before you hear a thwack and then a crash to the wooden deck. Most likely from Maya hitting him to get away from the Den Den Mushi she was talking on.
Laughter erupted around the ship as they look at the snail phone and pictured the two twins already. Yeah, Crystal had faith in them. After all they took after two of the greatest people on the seas, right? Or maybe that just made it worse since it was Crystal and Ace. Either way they'd survive for quite a long time out there and make new friends.
I tried to put pictures in here too of the twins but if you'd like to see them go to TenshiNoCrystal on Deviantart to check them out!
