Now this is part 2 to Fratricide but also part 1 to the Sonic and Shadow reunion. I tried to make the Sonic and Shadow reunion one chapter but it was just getting too long so I've decided to make them a 2 parter. Then, once those are out the way we'll have Silver to look forward to! Ain't it all exciting. I'll try to do one or two other request in-between though just to shake things up a bit. Until then enjoy Fratricide part 2!

It had been years since he'd been sent to Mobius. The sight of the trees, of the blue sky above his head and the sound of birds singing, were now commonplace. The feeling of the wind tugging almost playfully at his quills a familiar comfort. Sonic loved living on the planet, loved the people who lived on it and loved his life that was full of adventure and friends that cared for him. He had a great life…but it wasn't perfect. Every night the young hero couldn't help but turn his eyes to the stars, wondering about his brothers. He'd read up on the ARK once he was old enough and had access to the technology. He'd uncovered what GUN had done, what had happened to Gerald, his father figure, to Maria, his sister and to his eldest brother Shadow. When he'd read the report he'd had nightmares for months about Maria, Gerald and Shadow being shot and killed. In those dreams, however, it wasn't GUN that pulled the trigger but Mephiles.

Sonic hated GUN for killing most of his family and hated Mephiles for separating them. The blue hedgehog liked to think that if he'd still been aboard the ARK then Maria and Shadow might still be alive. When he managed to pull his thoughts away from the ARK his mind would then drift to thoughts of Silver. He hoped the other was okay in the future, that he'd made a life for himself like Sonic had and that he was happy.

Sonic ached for the old days. He would happily go back to being restricted to being on the ARK if it meant having his family by his side again. Green eyes closed with grief, head bowed in defeat. It had been 5 years yet it still hurt so freshly in his heart. The blue hedgehog was walking down the street, his mind filled with memories from the past so he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. This was why he was so startled when a small army of GUN soldiers suddenly surrounded him, weapons held at the ready and demanding that he come quietly.

"Your under arrest!" One soldier declared and Sonic felt his mouth drop open in utter shock.

"What for?" He cried out angrily, quills bristling on instinct.

"For the theft of a Chaos Emerald." The solider sneered while nodding to his colliges to go and cuff the blue creation. Sonic wasn't having any of it though. Using the speed he was named for the speed demon took off, leaving the protesting humans in the dust. He ran through the city, keeping to dark ally ways, dodging security cameras and using every bit of training he'd gained while on the ARK to stay hidden from sight. He didn't know why GUN thought he stole a Chaos Emerald, didn't know why anyone would think that about him. What he did know was that his gut was twisting in a way that meant something was coming, something he wasn't sure he was ready for.

(Some days its hard to see)

Waking up had been a strange feeling. Shadow had known time had passed. The room he woke to was covered in dust and cobwebs. The man that had stood before him was dressed in clothing that was strange to the creation and when the robots appeared they were far more advanced that he remembered humanity being capable of making. Waking had also left him feeling hallow and empty. His memories were broken and shattered, that much he knew but the things he did remember filled him with grief and and coldness that had settled deep in his heart.

His brothers were gone, either in another time line or insane and locked away. His creator was most likely long dead, either because of GUN or from old age and his dear friend Maria, his sister, was dead from being shot. Her murder played repeatedly in his head, her desperate last words, making him promise to avange her and make humanity pay echoing in his very soul. She didn't deserve what had happened to her, his brothers didn't deserve to be separated or tortured by Mephiles. In the end Shadow just didn't think life in general was fair. All he cared about now was making humanity pay for their sins they had commited against his family so that he could finally rest in peace.

The ebony creation stood in Eggman's base, leaning against the far wall with his arms crossed. His blood red eyes were trained on the floor, a deep scowl seeming to be permantly fixed on his face as the human muttered to himself by the computer. Rouge the bat also stood off to the side though her face was fixed into a playful smirk. Rouge was interesting in that she had been the first female Mobian Shadow had ever encountered but after that he didn't really care all that much for her. She was just another tool in achieving his end goal.

"This is turning out better than I expected." Eggman chuckled by hs computer, sound far too pleased with himself.

"Found another Chaos Emerald then have you?" Rouge questioned eagerly to which Shadow rolled his eyes. Another reason he didn't trust this female all that much, her love and obsession with the precious gems.

"Even better." Eggman declared proudly before turning the screen to face his two companions. "It would seem the blame for Shadow's heist of the Chaos Emerald has been placed on someone else."

Shadow and Rouge looked up, both their eyes widening in shock but for different reasons. On the screen was a news report where a picture of Sonic was being shown, the reporter stating that he was on the run and wanted for the theft of the Chaos Emerald and for resisting arrest. Rouge was in shock that the government would even considered Sonic to be capable of such a crime while Shadow was in shock for a completely different reason.

The Ultimate Lifeform stared in awe at the image of his youngest brother. He'd never forget those eyes or that smile. His brain ran on overdrive, bringing up the date as well as the time period Gerald had sent Sonic into. He nearly jumped where he stood when he realized that they matched up. His brother was here and alive! He wasn't alone! Part of his family was still alive. Sending Eggman and Rouge a quick glance to make sure they weren't watching him Shadow slipped away, using the Chaos Emerald to teleport into the city.

It was night now, the streets illuminated by the street lights and closed store fronts. No was out, everyone having left this part of the city as it was a buissness distract that was closed at this time of the night. Looking up Shadow frowned when he saw that the light from the city prevented him from seeing the stars. Just another thing humanity had ruined. Shaking himself from those thoughts Shadow turned his attention to his Chaos Energy, reaching out with it to try and find the signature that he hadnt felt in years. It took almost half a hour but eventually he felt it, a flicker of Chaos Energy so similar to his own yet so vastly different as well. It was stronger than he remembered, more controlled and matured but Shadow supposed that was to be expected. The picture he'd seen of his brother shown a young teen, not the little child he'd last had contact with.

Following the Chaos Signature Shadow teleported, blinking when he found himself standing ontop of a bunch of GUN robots that had just been destroyed. They sparked and fizzled, some smoking from where the electrical circits had blown. It was impressive, Shadow had to give his brother that. The years on Mobius had clearly been good in training him to fight. He turned to look down the street where he could feel that firey wall of Chaos Energy that was his brother. When red finally meet green after years apart both parties could only stand there in stunned silence.

For Sonic, it was like he'd gone back in time. Shadow hadnt changed one bit. He still looked exactly like he'd done 50 years ago when he'd been an excitable little child. For Shadow, looking at Sonic made him feel old. The blue one had changed so much since the last time they'd been together. He wondered what Silver looked like, wondered how much he'd changed since that fateful day and it left him feeling so old and so very sad. He'd missed so much of his brothers lives.

"Shads?" The voice almost sent Shadow to his knees. It was deeper, older yet so familiar. It was a voice he'd never thought he'd hear again.

Shadow smiled, Chaos Emerald held tightly and heart feeling so much lighter than it had in days. "Hello brother."

(If I was a fool or you a thief)

Sonic couldn't hold himself back any longer. He charged at the elder male, crashing into him with a happy sob, face pressing into ebony's neck. The tears were flowing so fast and hard but he hardly cared. He had his brother back! His brother was alive! He hadn't died on the ARK like the report had said. For just a moment, everything was perfect and right in the world. For just a moment, both hedgehogs were happy and at peace with their lives.

Sonic pulled back, a watery smile on his face while Shadow gently cupped his face, a soft smile playing on his face. "I can't believe you're here." Sonic whispered.

"Neither can I." Shadow admitted, thumb brushing away the stray tears. "You've grown so much little brother. We look to be the same age now."

"I'm fifteen." Sonic supplied to which Shadow smirked.

"Ah! Well then, not quiet the same age then but closer than we used to be." He teased good natuerdly. Sonic laughed and it was the most beautiful sound Shadow had ever heard. But then the laughter died down and Sonic looked at him sadly.

"Where have you been all this time? I thought you'd been killed on the ARK." He muttered sending a shock of anger and hatred shooting through Shadow's very being.

"Maria shoved me into one of the escape pods at the cost of her own life. I've spent the last 50 years asleep in statis in a GUN compound." He growled, holding Sonic closer. Green eyes widened in shock. That most certainly hadn't been in the report he'd found on the ARK incident.

"I'm sorry that happened to you and that I wasn't there to help." He whispered only to have Shadow shake his head firmly, eyes cold and hard.

(I made it through the maze to find my one in a million)

"I'm glad you and Silver weren't there. If you had been then you both may have joined Maria in death and I wouldn't have been able to live with myself." He said. Sonic still looked guilty but hopefully that would fade with time. All that mattered now was that he was here and now they could both fullfil Maria's promise and make humanity pay. "I'm glad you're here and safe but we must go."

"Why?" Sonic asked as Shadow began to lead them down the street.

"I've already set things in motion but with your help we should be able to acomplish things much faster." Shadow muttered almost to himself which just confused to blue one even more.

"Acomplish what? Shadow, what's going on?" He pulled back on the hand hold his wrist, forcing the elder male to come to a stop and look at him. The frantic way Shadow was moving, the way he suddenly jumped from happy brother to focused soldier on a mission unsettled Sonic. The look in his brother's blood red eyes, it wasn't the same look he'd always worn when they lived on the ARK, it was different and threatening.

"We need to fulfil Maria's last request, the promise I made to her." Shadow said in a voice that sent shivers down Sonic's spine.

"What promise?" He didn't understand why he was hesitant to ask but he was.

"To avenge her and make humanity pay for what they've done." Shadow all but growled, his hatred bleeding through. Sonic felt like he'd just been slapped in the face hearing those words. They didn't sound like Maria at all! The Maria he remembered was kind, caring and love, someone who loved the planet below the ARK dearly. Surely she would want such a thing!

"You can't be serious!" Sonic huffed, hoping to see Shadow's face break out into a grin and claim that he'd gotten him with a joke. It didn't happen. If anything, Shadow's face grew darker.

"Her last words to me were to promise her revenge, to bring humanity to their knees and that's what we will do, together." Shadow took an almost threatening step towards his brother and Sonic flinched back, eyes widening when red eyes turned dark forest green, red strips flashed blue and muzzle turned mouthless for just a moment. Sonic felt his heart leap in terror, felt the explosion of adrenalin flood his system as the fight or flight response kicked in. He stared at his brother and felt his world starting to fall.

"Shads…you can't honestly believe that. Maria loved the planet and the people on it. She…She wouldn't want what your talking about." Sonic tried to reason, to explain but Shadow just glared.

"Well maybe you didn't know her like I did." He sneered before holding out a hand. "Time to choose brother. Are you with GUN and those scum that killed and tore our family apart, or are you with me?"

Sonic stared, chesting aching and heart hurting. The tears were coming back but they were no longer happy. This, this wasn't his brother. This wasn't the Shadow he knew. This was just another Mephiles. He shook his head, stepping backwards and away from Shadow who's eyes narrowed even more at his refusal. "I'm sorry Shadow…but I won't help you. This isn't right, this isn't what Mari would have wanted and if I have to then I will fight you to prevent you from harming innocent lives."

"So be it, brother." Shadow said solomly before lunging forward, fist connecting painfully with Sonic's jaw and sending the younger male flying backwards into a building. Sonic was speechless for a moment. His mind brought up memories of a brother that would read to him at night, of a brother that would play tag and help him train to control his speed and Chaos Powers. Now, when he looked at Shadow all he saw was forest green and blue where red used to be.

(Now your just a page torn from the story I'm living)

Blue rocketed at high speed towards black, red eyes widening in shock at the speed the other was now able to achieve after years of training. With a yell Sonic spin dashed into Shadow's chest sending the other slamming into a parked car. Metal groaned under the strain while glass shattered loudly. Shadow snarled from where he lay, Chaos Emerald glowing with power as he called upon the power to teleport. Sonic tensed, ears erect to try and detect where the other had gone.

A faint disturbance in the air current just behind him was the only reason Sonic was able to jump out the way of the powerful kick Shadow had aimed at his back. The pavement cracked under the impact and Shadow sniffed in distain. "You've improve greatly from your time on the ARK."

"Practice makes perfect." Sonic shot right back with a glare of his own.

"I suppose it does, but it wouldn't be enough." Shadow said, arm pulled back before sweeping forward in a wide ark, sending glowing spears of Chaos Energy raining down towards the young hero. Sonic growled, dodging as best he could only to hiss when one spear grazed his right shoulder, staining the peach shoulder crimson. He stared at the wound then at Shadow, heart breaking for the one he used to call brother.

(And all I gave you gone)

Blue and orange steaked by side by side, racing down the abandoned city streets. Shadow was impressed with how fast Sonic had become. If the blue male pushed himself enough he would probably be faster then the ebony creation now. A pity he'd chosen to use that power for the wrong side. He smirked, ducking as the blue blur tried to send a sweeping kick to his head, moving quickly to deliver a kick of his own to the younger's chest.

Sonic grunted, rolling painfully across the ashfault before coming to a stop on his stomach. He turned to look over his shoulder, teeth gitted in pain and anger when he saw Shadow standing there with a smirk on his face. Sonic may have improve greatly over the last few years but the elder creation was still more experienced in battle, more skilled in Chaos Energy and stronger physically than he was.

(Tumbled like it was stone)

"Pathetic. To think Gerald made you from my own blue prints. Your nothing but a fake in comparison to the real thing." Shadow jeered which sent a spike of indignation through the teen. He struggled to his feet, limbs screaming in protest and trembling with effort.

"If anyone is the faker here its you. Your not the Shadow I once knew. You're a shell of what you used to be." Sonic snapped causing the smirk to fall from Shadow's face. Blood red eyes glared hatefully at emerald green. He made to take a step forward only to pause when the distant sound of sirens reached his ears. He smiled, knowing Sonic was too weak to escape from GUN this time. It would be justice to Maria to have the traitor taken captive by those that killed her.

"While I've loved this family reunion it seems you have some visitors. Hopefully some time in captivity will make you see reason little brother." He stated, lifting the Chaos Emerald into the air and teleporting away just before the GUN soldiers appeared, surrounding Sonic on all sides.

(Thought we built a dynasty that heaven couldn't shake)

Sonic felt like screaming and crying all at once. In the span of one hour he'd gotten his eldest brother back only to have him ripped away again. They were no longer loving siblings but now mortal enemies. He had a feeling that if it came down to it Shadow would kill him to achieve this insane goal of his. The thought of having another brother trying to kill him left a sour taste in his mouth as he glared around at the GUN soldiers.

They all had guns with them that were trained on him. His body was battered and weak, he wouldn't be able to outrun the bullets this time around and Shadow had known that. He'd left him for the rats so to speak. With hurt and betrayed tears glistening in the corner of his eyes Sonic held his hands out to be cuffed, the fight leaving him as his soul throbbed with confusion and agoney.

(Thought we built a dynasty like nothing ever made)

Shadow watched hidden from the top of a building as Sonic was loaded up into the heavily guaded car, hands cuffed and a collar wrapped tightly around his neck attached to a lead. He felt a brief moment of regret. After all, they were family, had been so close all those years ago and had done anything for each other. They had loved each other. But so had Maria and she had died in vain and Sonic had chosen to side with her killers, with humanity.

Shadow felt his jaw tighten with white hot fury. He couldn't believe that someone he once called brother would betray not only him but Maria in such a way. Anyone who would do that was no brother of his in the end. Sonic would pay alogn with the rest of humanity.

(Thought we built a dynasty forever couldn't break up)

I was listening to MIIA Dynasty while writing this and it just fit so well that I had to include it in here. Songs really help me write because songs are just stories told in a different way in my opinion. When I find a song with a similar story line to what I'm trying to write, listening to it just helps me to write and make my story flow more easily.

Anyways, don't forget to send in requests and leave reviews. You all have a fan-flarpping-tastic day, week, month and year and I'll see you all next time!
