Yolo! Hello my dear readers and fellow authors! I'm so sorry for being gone for so long; I've had a lot of schoolwork to tend to! I do have some left to do for next week, but tomorrow one of my classes have been cancelled so I'll use that time to work. Right now, I need to let out some stress! I won't say more so that we can get to the latest chapter, but I will say thank you to everyone for the support, sorry again and hope you all enjoy this new chapter! It has Kendall and the others, yay, plus introduction to four of Shay's best friends! Hope you enjoy this chapter, review to your heart's content and let me know if this has made up for being long for too almost a month! Disclaimer: I don't own Big Time Rush or Shay Hanson! All I own is the plot of the story! Again, enjoy! :) Also, I had to invent Shay's back story! It's not from the episode Kendall starred in in 'Without a Trace'! Oh, and bold words alone stand for the video Shane sent to Stephanie! :)

"I'm very sorry to say this, but the case might be going cold."

Everyone tensed at these words. Officer Garcia sighed heavily, wishing this wasn't the news he had for the distraught family.

"No evidence or leads have been uncovered. The car we found abandoned in South Dakota...it was stripped. Nothing was left behind: the license plate ripped off, the interior wiped clean of any possible DNA residue. Most of the reports that have come in were just sick prank calls or had little information to help move the case forward."

Kendall bit his lower lip, trying to hold back tears as he rose from the couch and crossed his arms, pacing the carpet floor once more. Jen and Katie eyed him worriedly, Logan sighing while Kelly broke down in sobs, hands pressed hard to her face.

"There has to be something we're not seeing, some piece of evidence! S-sometimes the most obvious is what isn't paid attention to! There has to be something we're not seeing, Papa Garcia!" The dirty blonde exclaimed in a low shout, running a hand through his tangled hair.

Carlos, a hyper Latino their age with short black hair and big brown eyes, frowned and wrapped Kendall in a one-arm hug. "Ken, you have to calm down. Papi is doing everything he can; he's having the whole PD pull double shifts, they won't stop until we find James. I promise we will, we just need more than what we're working with. Is there a chance anyone in town knows who kidnapped Jamie, anyone at all?"

"Not that we know, and the chances of anyone stepping up with that kind of information is low. This guy could have accomplices here in town, friends that won't give him up." Logan pointed out, Officer Garcia getting to his feet.

"I have to get back to the station. I'm sorry I had to tell you all this...but we can't give up. I won't give up until I bring James back home safe and sound, I promise."

In the short time Officer Garcia and his son have known Kendall, Kelly, Jen and the others they have grown to care about them. They could see just how worried and grief-stricken everyone was, especially the dirty blonde, over the missing brunette. It hurt them too; they already cared about James, even if they haven't really met him before, and if those they cared about were hurting, so were they.

So had they to find James. They had to find the boy alive, they had to find him and bring him home.

They just had to; failure was not an option.

"Papi, can I stay and see if I can help Logie and Ken? I really don't want to leave them alone..." Carlos asked, his puppy eyes locking with his father's.

"As long as it's okay with Kelly and Jen..." Said women smiled despite the grave looks on their faces.

"Carlos is always welcomed, he's been the rock for Logan and Kendall. He's part of the family now, like you Officer Garcia." Jen replied, Kelly leaving the room to check up on her sister in the guest bedroom.

"Thank you, Mama Knight."

Officer Garcia said goodbye to everyone, ruffling his son's hair in both comfort and amusement, before he disappeared out the front door. Everyone waved at him from the living room window, his cruiser lights off as he drove away back to the police station.

Kendall and Logan looked at one another, struggling to keep their calm. "We'll find him, Ken. I know we will." The raven said, facial expression everything but afraid.

Logan has moved on. He's moved on from James. His eyes still held concern, affection but it wasn't the same. He didn't have that obsessive drive anymore, he no longer saw Kendall as a rival. As painful as it was at first, he's finally accepted that James loved Kendall now. He loved him now and he couldn't change anything about it, as much as he might have wanted to at the beginning of this whole mess.

Kendall really loved James. He wasn't going to hurt him, Logan knew that now. He was the one keeping James' case alive, for God's sake! He would always be there for James, but not as his boyfriend. He would be there as his brother, the brother Shane never was. Logan would be his brother, Kendall his lover.

That is, they still had to find him before Logan could tell the brunette his feelings as they are now.

"I know Loges, I know. It's just...I feel like we're missing something. We've had multiple people come in for questioning at the station, how can it be that no one knows who kidnapped James? This is a small town, everyone knows each other." Kendall said, unable to shake off this weird feeling.

He couldn't shake off this weird feeling that someone knew who kidnapped James, someone had to know. This town, everyone knew each other and trusted each other. Unless this guy was from New York or something, there was no way no one could not have an idea as to who the masked kidnapper is.

"Guys, we have company." Carlos said, pointing out the window.

"Is it Papa Garcia?" Logan asked, walking over to stand beside the shorter raven. Carlos shook his head, normally friendly face in a look of pure confusion.

"No, it's four girls." He said, that stumping Kendall, Jen, and Katie.

"Four girls, boys what's going on?" Jen asked, though her daughter beat her to the punch.

"Well let's find out." Katie said over her shoulder, everyone following her to the front door. The often sneaky Tween undid the lock and threw the door back, hands on her hips with a sharp glare in her soft brown eyes.

"Yes, can we help you?" She said, sounding a little annoyed. Now was so not the day to deal with overgrown girl scouts selling cookies!

The girl leading the group frowned. "We're here because of the missing person's case. James Diamond?" She asked, Kendall gently pushing his way up front.

"I'm his boyfriend, Kendall Knight. Do you know something, have you heard or seen James?" He couldn't keep his tone from sounding venomous. Kendall hasn't quite been the same since James was taken.

He was a little colder, more distant and kept to himself. He's hardly eaten, he's lost ten pounds and he rarely slept. Deep bags were under his usually bright green eyes, which had a dullness to them now. His skin wasn't its healthy pale peach but bone white, posture tense and constantly on alert. He wasn't mean to his family and friends, oh no he hasn't lost what made him Kendall Knight, but his broken heart could be seen through the almost dead look in his eyes.

In the girls' eyes, he was a seriously distraught and worried sick young man.

The girl leading the group, tall with long brown hair, slightly tanned skin and coffee brown eyes, sighed and met Kendall's steely glare. The three others with her, a blonde with a perky nose, a brunette with extremely curly hair, and a raven with shiny lip gloss on, were wearing dresses and had their arms linked. Even though they clearly weren't related, they seemed close like sisters.

"Can we come inside? We...we think we have an idea as to who took your boyfriend."

"S-so you're saying, this Shay Hanson guy could be behind this?" Logan asked, all in doctor-interrogation mode.

Everyone, even Brooke who had been led to the living room by Kelly, was sitting down on the couches with glasses of water between their trembling hands. Kendall, Logan, Katie and their families were all clumped together on one couch, the four girls on the other.

The leader of the group, her name was Stephanie King, placed her glass on the coffee table and sighed. "Yeah, he could be behind this. Listen, it's a long story but me and The Jennifers can go through it in few minutes."

"Then start talking, please we can use all the help we can get." Carlos said, he between Kendall and Logan and taking their hands, rubbing their knuckles in soothing circles to keep them chilled.

"Well okay, I guess I should start from the beginning: Shay Hanson was, no is, our best friend from like forever. We've known him since we were in the playpen, and he...he's the sweetest guy on the planet." Stephanie began, trying to keep wet her suddenly dry mouth.

"Shay was a bit of troublemaker, he never really liked following the rules if you know what I mean. He never went to school with us, because his dad insisted on him being home schooled, but he has gotten into trouble with the police a few times. They were all juvie dealt with crimes though, petty kid stuff so they were going to be expunged when he turned eighteen." Blond Jennifer picked up after Stephanie, all the girls deciding to speak up after the other, share the story together.

"But his dad was abusive, an abusive alcoholic. After his mom died, Shay's dad blamed it all on him so he took it out on him; I don't think Shay ever got a break, he was always walking around with new bruises, even if we didn't know about them at first. He always tried to hide his pain, he didn't like it when people pitied him." Curly-haired Jennifer said, fiddling nervously with one of her bracelets.

"Shay's dad wasn't just physically abusive though, but psychologically too. He'd tell Shay he was ugly, that his mom never loved him and that no one would ever care about him. He hated that Shay liked to make videos; Shay wanted to grow up and become a film director, so he would practice with his video camera. It was one he got from me on his tenth birthday; he never went anywhere without it." Raven-haired Jennifer choked out, tears building in her eyes.

"H-he never got any help?" Jen asked, absolutely horrified by what she was hearing. Katie hugged her mother tightly by the waist, burying her face into her side. Stephanie bit her lower lip, shaking her head.

"No. We knew about it, well I did, but he never tried to get his dad locked away in the slammer. Shay...his dad was all he had, he didn't want to be alone. He didn't want to be responsible for breaking up his family; that was how he always saw it, the bastard pounded into him that he was a monster that Shay started to believe it."

"But that's not true! From what you're telling us, this boy is everything but a monster!" Kelly shouted indignantly, Brooke sitting beside her confused as to why her sister was acting like this.

Apparently, the only people Brooke remembered were Kelly, Michael, Logan and Connie. She didn't remember James and Shane, though.

Blonde Jennifer looked angry, though not at her. "Of course he isn't. The only monster was Cameron Hanson. His wife didn't die, he killed her. He just made it look like she committed suicide and pinned the blame on our best friend! I'm sure Cameron killed Martha, we don't have proof but there's no way that guy was a freaking saint! Shay took more after Martha, there's not a damn mean bone in his body! Shay can't remember her, he was very little when she died but he's her son! I can tell she was sweet and funny, just like him!"

"Shay just wanted to be loved, he just wanted to finally know what it was like to be free. He lived with the abuse until he was sixteen." Curly-haired Jennifer added, Kendall straightening up at this.

"W-what happened when he turned sixteen?" The girls swallowed hard, their waterworks finally breaking free.

"Y-you see...one night, Shay's dad came home really drunk. He was an angry drunk, cursed everything and everyone out and got physical really fast. He came home drunk and start beating Shay. It wasn't like the every day usual though; the bruises left were darker, he was basically trying to kill his son. S-Shay couldn't take it though; he snapped and grabbed a pair of scissors and...h-he stabbed his father two times in the stomach." Raven-haired Jennifer tripped over her words, pressing her hands to her mouth.

The air in the living room went thick, everyone struggling to breathe.

"H-he...stabbed his father to death?" Logan choked out, Jen covering Katie's ears. Brooke heard the words but was lost, her sister trying to keep her from asking too many questions all at once.

"N-no, he didn't! Cameron died of blood loss! Shay freaked out soon after it happened and he called the police, but the bozos handling his case charged him with murder! The jury was bias, they screwed our best friend over and sentenced him to five years max! They treated him as a sick criminal, when the person they should have judged for Hell was his dad!" Stephanie growled, fingernails digging into the skin of her arms.

"Shay never meant to do that, h-honest he didn't! He was defending himself, when we saw him...he couldn't even stand on his feet! He had a split lip, bleeding, two black eyes and a broken wrist! He was b-bloody all over, and the police treated him like trash!" Blonde Jennifer shouted, Carlos looking deeply hurt.

"Who was the officer in charge of his case?"

"Some asshole named Keith or something." Carlos' eyes hardened, expression murderous now.

"I know who you're talking about. Keith was fired not too long ago; he wasn't following rules and even assaulted suspects. He was an asshole, and I'm not surprised he went all out on Shay for that."

"It was because of that asshole our friend was sent to jail! Shay never deserved anything of the crap he was put through, and now...n-now he's in even bigger trouble."

"W-what does he have to do with James?" Kendall asked, chest tight.

"This Shane guy, he's James' twin brother right?" Curly-haired Jennifer asked. Everyone nodded.

"He was in the cell next to Shay's. I have some connections at the station; I did some digging and found out Shane and Shay became friends during their time in the slammer. Well, Shay thought Shane was his friend." Raven-haired Jennifer spat out bitterly.

"What do you mean?" Kelly asked. Stephanie snorted in disgust.

"Shane, the bastard fabricated a story that James got him in the slammer unfairly; he played with Shay's emotions, made him believe he was sentenced unfairly like him and won his trust. Then Shane came up with a plan to 'clear' his name; Shay tagged along because he thought Shane was his friend, he thought James was the real bad guy."

"S-so you're saying...Shay was the guy who kidnapped James?" Logan asked.

"Yes, but don't panic just yet."

"Why shouldn't we?! James is in danger, anything involving Shane can't be good!" Kendall exclaimed, heart racing.

"Shay won't let Shane hurt James, I can promise you that. He knows the truth now, I can feel it, and plus...Shay has been in love with James for four years now." Blonde Jennifer said. That struck everyone as odd.

"Wait, Shay's in love with James?"

"Yeah, he is. He met him at a party our freshman year. Shay got hurt, gash on his arm and a swollen ankle, but James helped him out from the nasty fall he had. From there Shay fell hard for him. James never knew who Shay was, since he was always so careful about his face. He didn't want people to see how bad his dad left him after a beating. James never Shay then, but Shay knew James and has been in love with him ever since. He never moved on or showed interested in another guy; James, he was all Shay thought about."

"Why didn't any of you go to the police with this?" Carlos demanded, getting his cell-phone out to call his father. Stephanie rose from her seat and snatched his phone away though, looking torn.

"Because we're not done yet! There's something else you all should know about Shay, it's about his appearance!"

"What about it?" Katie shot back. Raven-haired Jennifer pulled out her own cell from her bag, flipping through her photos until she found the one she was looking for and handed it over to Kendall.

"Take a look for yourselves." Blonde Jennifer said.

Everyone crowded around Kendall to look at raven-haired Jennifer's phone, yet when they finally managed a good glimpse at the picture, all eyes went wide.

"Oh my God." Logan choked out.

"I-it can't be." Katie added.

"He looks...j-just like..." Kelly couldn't finish.

"He looks just like me." Kendall's head was spinning, Stephanie and The Jennifers watching his facial expression carefully. He looked like they did when they saw the strong resemblance between their best friend and the dirty blonde across from them.

Thick, heavy eyebrows. Wild, short dirty blonde hair. Deep green eyes, a bit closer to olive than bottle, with a strong chin and blunt nose, high cheekbones and full lips. He was almost the same height, had the same built and wore the same style as Kendall. The only clear differences between them was that Shay had light stubble and tattoos on his shoulders, and one that could be hidden under his shirt.

It was like Kendall had a long-lost twin brother, only he wasn't a brother but a look-alike.

Shay Hanson and Kendall Knight were look-alikes. They looked so similar, and if Shane purposely had Shay do the kidnapping then...

That means, James has no doubt seen Shay's face. He's seen Shay's face, knows he and Kendall look a lot alike, and why...why he probably doesn't want to leave Shay.

Shay had a horrible past, just like James. Both had unfit fathers, both knew what it was like to suffer for so long.

James has no doubt grown attached to Shay. The brunette was probably close to him, and if they didn't know Kendall was still alive after the shots his look-alike nearly killed him with then...James probably thinks Kendall is dead and so he's staying with Shay out of pure will. Sure, the brunette was probably planning a way to escape his twin brother once and for, but he won't come back home without Shay.

Kendall knew James, knew him very well. The brunette was faithful and loyal to those he loved to a fault. If he's grown to care about Shay, he won't let anything or anyone break them apart.

James was just that selfless, even if his own life was in danger.

'Oh my God, James!' Kendall's blood ran cold.

Shay was in danger. James was in danger. They were both in danger.

And they were trapped with Shane...

"There's something else we want to share with you guys. It's a video, we found it outside Shay's old house. It was addressed to Steph but we think you and everyone else here should see it, Kendall..." Curly-haired Jennifer whispered, handing over the DVD case the video was burned on.

The dirty blonde took it with shaking hands, breath coming out in short pants. "L-let's play it."

-Page Break-

Everyone was stiff as stone pillars as Logan set up the DVD player and put the disc in, pressing play without a word.

A pitch black room soon took over the screen, with only a candle for light. Shane sat in a chair in the center of the room, smiling cruelly at the camera.

"Hey Steph, can I call you Steph? Well whatever, as if it matters. I just wanted to send you this, to let you know Shay is okay. He's happy with me, we're a happy couple and I thought it was in my right to let you know! I mean after all, you were his best friend! The sad thing is though, that he can't visit! He and I are busy with a few...errands, but he sends his love! Oh who am I kidding, ha you bitch! This is just a way of me saying that you better stop searching for Shay! I know what you're up to, so be a good little girl and stay out of my business! You keep this up, and I'll blow his fucking head off myself! Him and his whore, so you've been warned! Too bad you can't do anything about it; I've taken all necessary precautions to protect myself, I'm well-guarded so go ahead and try! try something, it won't get you far though ha!"

The video ended there, everyone chilled to the core by what they've just witnessed.

"That bastard...!" Curly-haired Jennifer lashed out, her empty glass crashing to the carpet floor.

"He's sicker in the head than ever." Logan sneered.

"But what did he mean by 'him and his whore?' at the end?" Carlos asked. Jen looked at her son, fearing the worst conclusion.

"I think...he was talking about James." Kendall said, tone unreadable.

"Wait, was he insinuating that...James and Shay are...?" Katie couldn't finish, afraid saying her idea out loud would shatter her older brother's heart.

"No, James wouldn't do that!" Logan snapped. James wasn't the type to cheat, he should know! He was the one who cheated, James stayed faithful the whole time they were together!

"But if he thinks I'm dead, t-then..." Kendall began, that making everyone stop and think.

"Wait, if James has no idea you're okay because Shane has cut him off from any type of news, then he could believe you are dead." Carlos whispered, The Jennifers and Stephanie looking doubtful though.

"Shay would never take advantage of James like that, Kendall. Please believe us, we know Shay; he maybe a part of this, but he'd never do anything to hurt him."

"He kidnapped my baby. He drugged him, tied him up and had him trapped with a gun." Kelly pointed out coldly. Stephanie glared hotly at her.

"He probably had no say in the matter, woman! Shane probably threatened James' life if he didn't go through with it! I'm fucking telling you, Shay would do ANYTHING for James, even die! He wouldn't risk James though, never in a million years!"

"Okay stop, stop! Carlitos, call your dad! Get him over here as soon as possible, he needs to hear this! You four, you stay! You're the bank of info we'll need on Shay! If we want to clear his name, then we'll need your help if we want to get both Shay and James out of this mess!" Kendall began barking orders, now in leader mode.

Everyone flinched but did as they were told, Jen worried though as she touched her son's shoulder. "K-Kendall, sweetie...?"

"I need to be alone, Mom. Excuse me..." The dirty blonde ran for the bathroom, slamming the door.

"Kendall!" Jen called out, but Katie pulled lightly at her arm.

"Mom, Big Bro...he needs some alone time. Come on, we should help Carlos out when his dad's back."

-Page Break-

Kendall locked the door behind him before collapsing over the sink, chest heaving as if he had just run a marathon.

Tears poured from his eyes, before he broke down completely; he buried his face in the sink, turning on the water. He let his tears mix with the warm water running over his hair, face, eyes. He just cried into the water, whole body shaking.
