Summary- With Lucifer's vessel hardly able to contain him, Lizzy sees the 'boo-boos' and believes she has to take care of the angel. Lucifer seems more than content to play along.

"Thank you very much little one. I'm already starting to feel better." Lucifer smiles as little Mae leads him back to her bed. He had given up trying to remind the little girl that he was an angel, and therefore didn't feel illness the way humans did.

Besides, he was enjoying the time they were spending together. Mae's presence was peaceful, soothing even, and it had nothing to do with her heritage. He'd spent plenty of time around the Fae of Oberon's realm without running across anything like this. Like the first sunrise from Eden, the first breeze off the ocean, but more.

"You lays down now." Mae insists sternly as she points at the bed.

Lucifer nods as he lays down, "Yes Ma'am."

Mae looks around thoughtfully before she goes to the window. If fresh air helps fevers, maybe that also helps with opposites of fevers too. She struggles a bit, but eventually get it to open a crack.

"Do you need help?" Lucifer asks her after a moment of watching her struggle.

"No, yours sick. You has to stays in bed." Mae explains in exasperation, her voice frustrated as she continues to push at the window.

"But I don't like being alone. Will you keep me company?" Lucifer asks the girl as he softly snaps his fingers to make the window easier to open.

He could afford this time with her, getting to know her in her purest form. It was a luxury he knew better than to pass up. As an adult Elizabeth had her family to keep her from completly believing him. She also had years of his father's slander imprinted in her head.

Leave it to pop to set up a rare gift, perfect in every way except the fact that she saw the devil when she looked at him.

So for now he'd enjoy this time without preconceived notions, thank you very much. Besides, he had several demons out looking for a counter curse, knowing it would be their end if they failed him. Either Elizabeth would regain her taken years, or he'd have several dozen fewer demons and more time with little Lizzy.

Besides, it wasn't like he could have left demons to look after the small sweet girl. She had a calming effect on humans, which made demonic possession harder to control. Thankfully, the fact that she put Nick more at ease made things easier for him. He didn't want Nick to suffer, he just needed a vessel until Sam came around.

And then there was the feeling of peace she brought him.

"There." Mae grins as she finally manages to get the window half way open.

"It does make the room much nicer." Lucifer nods in agreement.

"You needs to be under the covers, like yous going night night." Mae insists as she walks over to the bed, "You has to gets up so Is can make sure you is covered."

Lucifer smiles at the irony as he stands. An open window to cool the room but he had to be under the blankets to stay warm. Her logic was adorable.

Mae pulls the blankets and sheets down before she points back to the bed.

"Oh, is it safe for me to lay down now?" Lucifer chuckles lightly as he does her bidding.

"Good. Thank you." Mae nods sternly as she pulls the blankets back up and tucks Lucifer in.

"Little one, you never answered my question." He points out as he watches her tiny hand smooth the wrinkles from the blankets. "Will you stay with me? I don't like being alone."

Mae frowns as she looks up into Lucifer's blue eyes, "I noes like being 'lones either." She leans down and hugs his side through the blankets, "It no fun being all by myself." She lets out a small sigh before her eyes brighten and she stands back up, "I can reads to you! That makes me feel betters when I's sick."

"That sounds great." Lucifer pats her softly on the head. The sight of her empathizing with him made his heart hurt. While she couldn't possibly fathom what it was like to be locked in a cage for over two millennium, she did seem to share a dislike of being alone. That was something. Maybe she still felt that way as an adult.

"Ok! I can go gets more blankets and books. Be rights back." Mae says excitedly before she rushes from the bedroom.

Mae's exit leaves Lucifer deep in thought. It was no secret that he thought humans were flawed. They were so easily lead astray from his father's plans. Elizabeth was only half human, and though he could easily see a way or two of corrupting her, he didn't want to. Not any more. Lilly and Dean were not the only ones to learn from that horrible alternate future. This gift deserved far more than his old antics. Elizabeth was a precious soul entrusted to his care. Someone to spend all of time with, maybe even someone to help him heal.

Lucifer's hand grips his shirt tightly. Clearly the thoughts were overwhelming if they made his chest ache strangely..

"Don't be sad. I's back!" Mae chirps as she walks back into the room with a comforter and several books tucked under her arm.

Lucifer smiles, "You're right. I'm glad you're back. What books have you brought for us to read little one?" He holds his hand out, offering her help.

Mae hands Lucifer the books before she tosses the comforter on the bed next to him. "I brought all my favorites, cause I reads them best." She smiles as she pulls herself up on the bed. She quickly adjusts the new blanket over Lucifer before she settles beside him, resting her back against the headboard. "So which one Luc fur? Mommy and Daddy always lets me pick the book, so you shoulds gets to pick this time cause yous is sick."

Lucifer smiles as he looks over the offered books. "How about the secret garden?"

Mae smiles brightly up at him. "That's my favorite!" She moves the others into a pile by her feet and brushes her hair out of her face before she opens the book and leans against Lucifer. "When Mary went to live with her uncca everyone said she was the most dis-a-gree-able looking child theys ever saw." She pauses as she looks up at Lucifer with a small smile. "I no be like that when I visits uncca Bobby. I loves seeing hims."

"I wouldn't believe you have a disagreeable bone in your body for even a second." Lucifer chuckles as he wraps an arm around her. He was content to just let her read. She seemed to like interjecting her own stories as she read, which he found endearing.

Mae giggles as she goes back to reading aloud, pausing every time she came to one of the pretty drawings to make sure Lucifer got to see them too.

Yes, Lucifer smiles, he could continue his work once she fell asleep.
