Red light
A/N:- Thank you for the reviews and onto the next chapter. Enjoy.
It was a surreal morning. Shizuo opened his eyes seeing Ryo snuggled on top of his chest. Emi was spread out like a starfish with Iza-chan curled up on the end of the bed and Shi-chan laying between Izaya and Emi head flopped on his lover's belly.
It was only five o'clock so Shizuo gently lifted the covers slipping out with a soon to be awake Ryo. His movements froze seeing the small hand clutching at his top. It was a problematic situation. If he concentrated on gently removing Emi's hand then Ryo could wake up.
"...need help?" Izaya whispered eyes closed. Shizuo sighed.
"Yeah." He whispered back. "Thought you were asleep." Izaya opened his eyes giving him a look.
"I'm barely on the bed, Shizu-chan." His lover grumbled slipping from the bed with ease. "Shi-chan is pretty heavy. He kept poking me with his wet nose. I'm sure I'll have a bruise from where Emi kept kicking my leg."
Shizuo chuckled softly watching the lithe raven stretch. "You love it really."
"Mm. It's nice having everyone together but it's our bed for a reason, Shizu-chan." Izaya reached his side gently detaching Emi's hand from him.
Shizuo stood up quickly moving when their daughter rolled over at the lack of warmth. Her small arms wrapped around the startled puppy. Shi-chan relaxed quickly remaining where he was.
Izaya crooked his finger sneaking from the room. Shizuo followed leaving the door open. Ryo was beginning to stir a small whimper was their only warning.
"Mm, I feel refreshed." Shizuo said nothing about how the raven had been complaining mere moments ago. It was the best night sleep he had since Ryo had come home.
"Yeah." The blonde agreed with a soft smile. Little rubies blinked up at him. "Good morning, Ryo." Shizuo kissed his baby's forehead.
"Ooh." Ryo giggled with a smile. Izaya was standing at his side.
"Aren't you a quiet one this morning." Izaya cooed. "I'll get his bottle ready." Shizuo nodded with relief. "Bet you're happy about that." His lover grinned kissing his cheek.
"..."
"What do you want for breakfast? Since I'm wide awake I'll make us something."
"Shouldn't you wake Emi up to ask her?" Shizuo smiled light on his feet. Ryo seemed to like it when he rocked side to side.
"Let her sleep a bit longer. She might try and get another day off school." Izaya smirked. "Besides you want something sweet and filling to get you through to lunch."
"Then why bother asking?" Shizuo grumbled. Izaya blew him a kiss skipping into the kitchen. "Your father is an idiot." He whispered to his son.

Shizuo sat cross legged on the couch cradling Ryo in the crook of his arm holding the bottle. His son drank greedily remaining quiet.
"Mama, you didn't wake me!" Emi ran into the room staring at him accusingly. Shizuo smiled watching her run around and climb onto the couch.
"You looked happy." Shizuo said. "Do you feel tired today?" Emi shook her head.
"Nope." Crawling closer she peered down at Ryo. "You're feeding him by bottle, mama?"
"Yeah. This way is easier."
"Hm. Mama, can I do it?" Emi asked beaming up at him.
"Okay." Shizuo gestured to the space next to him.
"Ready." His daughter sat up straight legs crossed copying him.
"Okay. Move your arm in front of you." Shizuo instructed slowly taking the bottle away from Ryo. Lowering him into the crook of Emi's arm, Shizuo handed her the bottle. "Hold it lightly don't push down."
"Is this right, mama?"
"Yeah." Emi smiled holding the bottle. Ryo was content quietly drinking his milk.
"Breakfast!" Izaya called poking his head out. "Aw." The raven smiled seeing the two siblings together. Shizuo said nothing seeing Izaya get his phone out.
"Shh!" Emi whispered. "I'm feeding my little brother."
"I know. It's very adorable. The two of you are so cute." Izaya smiled holding up the phone.
"Mama!" Emi looked up at him. "Dada has gone weird again!"
"It's not again." Shizuo managed with a straight face. "It's as usual."
"Shizu-chan!" Izaya gasped faking hurt. "You love my stalker tendencies."
"Mama, dada admitted he was a stalker." Emi whispered leaning protectively over Ryo. Shizuo couldn't help it. His lips twitched into a smile breaking into soft laughter.
Click. Shizuo glared at the camera. Izaya had moved to sit in front of him. "Oi! No photos." His lover smirked putting the phone away into the safety of his pocket.
"I can't help it if you're adorable." Izaya purred kissing his lips.
"Blech!" Emi scrunched up her face. "Go away kissy monster." Shizuo locked his arms around Izaya's waist pulling him into his lap.
"There you go. Kissy monster has been sealed." Shizuo smiled hugging Izaya to his chest. His lover was content leaning back against him.
"Good." Emi nodded satisfied. Shizuo glanced down seeing a little under half of the bottle was empty.
"You're the only one that loves me, Shizu-chan." Izaya whined nuzzling his neck.
"Mama are you going to get eaten?" Emi asked quietly the bottle slipping from Ryo's mouth. Shizuo sighed lifting a hand and pushing Izaya away from his neck.
"...not a chance. I think Ryo has had enough, sweetie."
"Then I have to wind him?" Shizuo gently took his baby back. "I can do it."
"I know you can. I just don't want you to get your clothes dirty." The blonde reassured getting up from the couch.
"Oh. Okay." Emi nodded looking down at her pretty nightdress. "Dada, what's for breakfast?"
"Sweet omelette." His lover smiled vaulting over the back of the couch and skipping back into the kitchen.
"How sweet?" Emi queried following after Izaya like a duckling.
"Yours or your mummy's?" Shizuo heard. Standing up Shizuo rocked gently rubbing Ryo's small back. Ryo giggled tiny hands pressed against his chest. "Shizu-chan!" Izaya urged him into the kitchen.
"What? I have my hands full."
"I know. That's why I cut it up for you." Izaya smiled putting down the knife. "Say ah."
"Aah." Ryo mimicked.
"No not you." Izaya held the fluffy golden square out to him. Shizuo dipped his head forward clamping down on the fork. "Good?" Nodding his head Shizuo happily chewed at the chunk surprised at the sweetness. Izaya usually tried to get him to cut down.

Although they had woken up early, things were still a rush. Emi had been indulged a little too much and was now hurriedly putting on her coat and shoes.
"Flea, what are you doing today?" Shizuo asked with a groan. Ryo stared up innocently at him. The smell was anything but.
"I'll be working from home." Izaya splashed down on the couch clutching his laptop. Shizuo glanced at the time.
"No other choice." Taking the laptop away, the blonde handed Ryo to Izaya. "He needs changing. I'll be back as soon as I can."
Izaya scrunched up his face but still laughed. "That is smelly. Take your time, Shizu-chan. Come on Ryo, time to get you changed."
"Thanks." Shizuo murmured grabbing his coat.
"Mama, school starts in twenty minutes." Emi chimed helpfully. "I'm going to be late."
"Who's fault is that?" Shizuo reached into the bowl seeing it was empty. "Where's my keys? Argh! Forget it." Opening the door Shizuo carried Emi out and closed it again.
"Mama, I can walk." Shizuo nodded lifting her up onto his shoulders.
"Hold on tight. I'm going to walk really fast." He warned already down the path.
"Really fast?" Emi asked.
"Yeah."
"Really reeeally fast?" Emi giggled her arms around his neck. Shizuo nodded walking in long strides.

Shizuo reached the gate just as the bell rang panting at the sudden exercise. Lifting Emi down, Shizuo kissed her forehead. "Have a good day, sweetie."
"Are you okay, mama? Do you need dada?" Emi asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. Just out of breath. Go on, before you get scolded by your teacher." Shizuo smiled. His little girl nodded running into the school.
Leaning against the tree a bottle of water was handed out to him. Looking up Shizuo smiled at Celty taking the offered drink gratefully. "Thanks."
No problem. Izaya said you would need it.
"Yeah, he's good like that. Forgot my bottle and my phone. Couldn't find my keys either." Shizuo grumbled taking greedy gulps.
Drink slowly. Celty typed reprimanding him.
"I know. I have to get home. Izaya is looking after Ryo and the pets. He still has his own work to do." Shizuo apologised.
No problem. Shinra doesn't have any appointments this morning. It will be nice to spend time with him. Celty blushed. So that was where Kenta was.
"Well I can't interrupt that, can I? Go spend time with the idiot." Shizuo grinned holding up the bottle. "See you tomorrow. Hopefully on time."
Yeah. Good luck with Izaya. Shizuo nodded turning away and walking back the way he came. This time a lot more slowly.
x-x-x
Izaya opened the door for him as he was walking up the path. "You overdid it." His lover sighed cradling Ryo. "I knew you would."
Shizuo shrugged walking into the house. "Yeah. Thanks for contacting Celty."
"You forgot your phone." Izaya murmured closing the door. "Found your keys. Iza-chan had them under the kitchen table. Looks like he didn't want you to go."
"Hn, good thing you're not going to work then. We made it in time." The empty bottle was placed on the table, Shizuo dropped down on the couch flopping backwards.
"Well I need to get a few things done. Ryo, back to your mummy you go." Shizuo brought a hand up supporting Ryo as he was laid on his chest.
"Work? It's the first time you've put it before us."
"Not work. I need to search for another car." Izaya flipped open the laptop on the table. "First I need to set your mind at ease." His lover snatched the phone up from next to the laptop.
"Oh. That. Thanks." Shizuo closed his eyes taking the opportunity to rest. It was only a few moments before he heard the rip of paper and the scratching of a pen. His hearing was more sensitive thanks to Ryo keeping him on his toes.
"Ah!" Cracking one eye open Shizuo glanced over at his lover.
"What's ah?"
"Well so far these four are sales companies. Life insurance, child care and other boring stuff. I'll get them blocked. I said you had probably signed up to something."
"But?"
"This one here was made from TGOI. One, two, three, four calls within the past two weeks."
"So Mikado or one of the others?" Shizuo sighed in relief.
"Looks like. I could find out who." Izaya offered.
"Leave it. The next time it rings I'll answer it...sorry to waste your time." If it was someone at TGOI then Shizuo had an idea of who it was. Well he was about ninety eight percent sure of who it was.
Mikado was one of his regular visitors wanting to see how he was or to get advice on his upcoming wedding. Kida would pop up and ask him to his face when Izaya wasn't around. Erika couldn't go five seconds without squealing or showing her excitement. Nothing like the empty static he had heard each time.
No, if it was anyone it would be the one that Shizuo had instinctively known had been avoiding him. Ever since Ryo's birth, Kadota had been a little too quick to give him space. When he had visited TGOI Kadota hadn't been there for long.
It would be Kadota. His old work colleague. Something was bothering his friend. Something that Kadota wanted to talk to him about but couldn't.
"If it's about you, Shizu-chan nothing is a waste of time." Izaya smiled softly down at him. "I'll still go through the rest."
"Nah. Leave it. Just delete them all." Shizuo sighed. He was a little anxious about what Kadota wanted but that should be simple enough to deal with.
Of course it wasn't settled. Shizuo groaned seeing his phone light up in Izaya's hand. Another random call. It was another number that wasn't in his contacts. "Hello?" Izaya answered. "Huh. No answer."
"Ka- I mean TGOI again?" Shizuo muttered not wanting to get Kadota into trouble. It was a surprise Izaya still kept the man as his employee.
"No. Different number." Izaya murmured brow creased. "Hang on." Shizuo supported Ryo carefully sitting up. Izaya's expression was cold holding the phone against his ear. "Hello. Someone just tried to call from this number...no, I understand you can't give out client details. Could you describe what the person looked like? Or their attitude?"
Shizuo waited anxiously. Izaya didn't know who it was. The flea always knew everything...if it was something new... Shizuo shuddered. Izaya smiled reassuringly resting a hand on his knee.
"...okay. That's all I needed to know. Thank you for giving me the needed information. Bye bye." His lover hung up.
"Are you bullying your humans again?"
"Who me?" Izaya gave him an innocent look. "I'm only playing. The receptionist was very capable at her job."
"Receptionist?" Shizuo asked.
"Yeah, the number is from a hotel." Izaya dropped the phone onto the cushions.
"A hotel?" Shizuo echoed.
"It was a woman. Thin, short hair, quite cranky and very demanding. That was the receptionist's description." His lover muttered one hand in his hair. "Remind you of anyone?"
"...Namiko." Shizuo guessed with a scowl.
"Looks like. I'll get you a new phone so you won't get nuisance calls." Izaya was already sliding off the back to take out the battery. "You might want to find out what that woman wants. Dotachin too."
"I didn't say-"
"Shizu-chan, I do have eyes. The only one that has been any different is Dotachin. If you're not up to it, I'll deal with them."
Izaya would deal with it, with ease and only according to his wishes. Whether Kadota and Namiko got hurt or not. It was tempting just to hand everything over and let his capable lover handle it.
"No, it's fine. I'll deal with it." Shizuo replied at length. "If I need you I'll let you know."
"Hm, alright. I suppose I'll leave it to you." Izaya placed the three pieces of his phone on the table. "That's the most important task out of the way. Now to find a new car." His lover said breezily picking up his lap top. Shizuo felt the heat rise to his cheeks at Izaya's causal flattery. "Do you want a new phone or just a new number?"
"Whichever is easier." Shizuo murmured closing his eyes.
"This one is still in one piece. Only a few scuff marks. I'll get you a new sim."
"Yeah. It's not urgent or anything. Find the car you want first."
"That's what I'm doing. What do you think about a supercar? This one." Shizuo immediately took a disliking to the car on screen.
"No way. I don't want that parked on the drive."
"I know. I'm teasing." Izaya grinned. "I've already asked Rio to find one the same as my last one why get something different?"
"Jerk." Shizuo muttered. Ryo giggled against his chest. "Don't you go repeating that."
"That leaves me free to spend the entire day with you two." Izaya grinned.
"You're going to work tomorrow?" Shizuo asked placing Ryo on the cushions. His son seemed content.
"Yes."
"Fine."
"What's fine?" His lover asked.
"You staying home today." Shizuo retorted. Izaya's eyes lit up, the raven throwing himself across his lap.
"Mm. What should we do today then?"
"Remember we have two pets and a baby." Shizuo muttered his finger caught in Ryo's small hand. "No, Ryo. You can't put that in your mouth."
"Ooh." Shizuo sighed the tip of his finger covered in saliva.
"Where did he spit his dummy?" Izaya questioned getting up.
"Dunno. What do you reckon she wants?" Shizuo already knew which one needed to be dealt with first.
"Your mother?" Izaya asked straddling his lap. "Found it. It was behind you." Shizuo nodded sitting up and resting his head against the flea's shoulder. "She probably wants to see Emi. The visits are supposed to be done between me and Kichirou. With the pair of them divorced it looks like she won't contact him."
"Then why didn't she contact you instead? Why the call to me?"
"I can't tell you that, Shizu-chan. Maybe she wants your forgiveness." Izaya touched his cheek.
"...do you honestly believe that?" Shizuo whispered. "Don't play around, flea. You know humans. What is going on in her head?" Izaya's hand calmly rested on the back of his head.
"No, I don't believe it. Namiko will want someone to blame for her life falling apart but she knows - well she should- that if she upsets you in any way I'll revoke her access to see Emi and Ryo." Izaya said quietly.
"Ryo. Does she know Ryo has been born?" Shizuo's gaze fell to their son. "My dad took the photo. He said he would tell her."
"Most likely no. She wasn't outside the hospital demanding to see him. You're getting stressed Shizu-chan. Calm down." Izaya advised kissing his cheek.
Meeting Izaya's gaze, Shizuo nodded. "Sorry I-" a bark interrupted them. Shi-chan jumped up onto the couch rushing at Ryo. "shi-chan?" Ryo was on his belly not how he had left him.
"Did he roll over?" Izaya asked everything else forgotten.
"I think so." Shizuo murmured. "I didn't notice."
"Ooh." Ryo was giggling, the puppy nudging him.
"Looks like the baby gates need to go up soon." Izaya grinned phone in hand. "I'll ask Kichirou about Namiko. For now put it out of your mind."
"Yeah, I know." Shizuo smiled down at his son. "Hey, Izaya."
"Yeah?"
"You're still straddling me."
"So I am." Shizuo flushed.
"Get off." Izaya's attention was on the phone.
"Hang on. I'm recording." Shizuo sighed trying not to move. Izaya well aware of his actions kept shifting in an attempt to film at a better angle.
x-x-x
"I'm going to see Kichirou." His lover waved skipping out of the door past a bewildered Kadota. Shizuo groaned inwardly looking at the time. Lunch time.
"Shizuo?" Shaking his head the blonde ushered Kadota inside closing the door. Ryo was safely on the cushions with shi-chan standing guard. "Izaya said he wanted to see me."
"I said I would take care of it." Shizuo sighed muttering under his breath. "I've had more than a few strange calls the past couple of weeks." Next to him Kadota flinched. He had been right then. It was Kadota. "Izaya went through them this morning."
"Shizuo, I-"
"Kadota, we've been friends for a long time. You're Emi's godfather. I know you've been avoiding me. Why?"
"Avoiding you? Shizuo, I haven't. At the hospital you were just recovering and at work well I had things to do."
"You can't tell me?" Shizuo sighed his tone frosty. "What is it you need that you have to call me several times and not leave a message or say anything? I thought it was Namie."
Kadota slumped down on the couch head in his hands. "Sorry. I never meant to worry you. I haven't had any alcohol in a while. Vorona is happy." Shizuo waited for him to continue.
"I go to these meetings and we talk about how well and how hard it is giving up. I go to a separate counsellor too. She's quite nice. We talk about Vorona and Rai and how I can connect better with them. We talk about...regrets and stuff in the past."
Shizuo stiffened at the the word. "What does that have to do with me?" He asked sharply feeling like he was being backed into a corner.
"I- I- it doesn't." Kadota shook his head. "It's nothing. I'm sorry. I should go!" Before he could utter a word, Kadota rushed past him and out of the door.
Shizuo sighed looking at where his friend had been. "That's not nothing. Idiot." Something was clearly wrong and if he was right in his thinking, it wasn't something to press.
On the couch Shi-chan froze bolting away from Ryo. His son gave a disgruntled sound. "Sorry, Ryo. I'll get your bottle for you." Shizuo cooed lifting his crying baby into his arms.
x-x-x
Shizuo was finishing his own lunch when Izaya came back home. "Shizu-chan, I'm home!" The raven called skipping into the kitchen.
"Hn." The blonde nodded pushing his half finished plate away. "I hope you had better luck than I did."
His lover raised a brow. "Things didn't go so well with Dotachin?"
"No. He told me about his meetings and a new counsellor he was seeing...right before he ran out the door." Shizuo sighed leaning back when Izaya stood behind him arms draped over his shoulders.
"Want me to get involved?"
"I'll give it another go. I have a feeling I know what he wants." Izaya kissed his cheek.
"Hm, you don't sound happy about it at all."
"I'm not. I'm hoping I'm wrong. How did things go with my father?" Shizuo changed the subject. Izaya's eyes narrowed probably wondering what could be so bad that he would rather talk about Namiko.
"Kichirou expected something like this would happen. He managed to get hold of Namiko. She denied calling you of course. She wants to see Emi. She doesn't know about Ryo. What do you want to do?"
"You can take Emi saturday if she wants to go. Tell her about Ryo." Shizuo sighed lowering his head. "I can't ask my father or Emi to lie."
"Hn. We could have got away with a couple more weeks. We'll do things your way." Izaya groaned leaning his full weight against his back. "Oh goody. I get to spend the day with your darling mother." Izaya scowled dripping sarcasm.
"Sorry...Izaya."
"Hm? Something wrong?"
"Don't tell her about Ryo being...you know."
"The whole intersex thing? That's the last thing I'd tell her." Izaya reassured. "I'll tell Namiko about Ryo but I won't take him with me and Emi. She can wait another week."
Shizuo nodded satisfied with their joint decision. "I think that's best. Give her time to let it sink in. Don't do anything...mean."
"I can't make any promises, Shizu-chan." Izaya muttered bitterly. "If she says anything about you..."
"I don't want Emi picking up any more bad habits. Sticks and stones, right? Besides I won't actually be there." Shizuo turned his head kissing Izaya's cheek.
x-x-x
Kadota wasn't answering his call. Shizuo had a new number which he had sent out to all his friends and those that he wanted to keep in contact with. Kadota hadn't yet responded.
It was two days after Kadota's sudden absence. From Izaya he knew his friend wasn't turning up for work. It looked like by confronting the issue things had become worse. "Mama, what's wrong?" Blinking out of his thoughts Shizuo found Emi staring at him.
"I was just thinking, sweetie." Emi continued to stare placing one small hand against his forehead.
"Dada, I think something is wrong with mama!" Shizuo sighed glancing at the bedroom door.
"What do you mean?" It was Izaya's turn to put Ryo to sleep and judging by the crying baby in his lover's arms that wasn't going so well. "Feeling sick, Shizu-chan?"
"I was thinking."
"No, I kept talking to you Mama and you didn't listen!" Shizuo smiled lifting Emi into his lap.
"Sorry sweetie. I'm listening now." He could feel Izaya's gaze on him but said nothing. Izaya knew why he was spaced out. "So you want a story for bedtime?"
"No!" Emi folded her arms looking away. "Don't feel like a story today. Mama should go to sleep." With that his daughter kissed his cheek and ran upstairs. Shizuo sighed dropping his head in his hands
x-x-x
At half six Emi had fallen asleep. Shizuo lay back on the bath submerged in hot water, the strong scent of strawberry wafted from the multitude of white bubbles covering the surface. The bathroom door opened slowly. "You can't come in here. Shi-chan, out!" Izaya opened the door holding one of the baby monitors. "Feeling any better?"
Shizuo shrugged. "Not really. Ryo asleep?"
"Yeah. So is Emi. What are you fretting over? Dotachin has done this before. I called Shiki. It looks like it's a rebound."
"Izaya. Don't get involved." Shizuo sighed staring up at the ceiling. "This is between Kadota and me. I'll talk to-"
Knock knock. Knock knock. Knock knock
Both of them winced knowing anything louder than a whisper could wake their children. "I'll go and see." Izaya waved leaving him alone. Shizuo sat up water sloshing around him.
Straining his ears he couldn't hear anything. With a sigh Shizuo sat forward unsure whether to stay in the bath or go and check on his lover. His choice was made for him. Izaya stepped back into the bathroom hastily closing the door. "Sorry Shizu-chan. You have a guest."
x-x-x
Roughly ten minutes later Shizuo was bandaged and dressed a fluffy towel flopped on his head. Kadota wasn't sitting at the kitchen table like he thought. With shock Shizuo found himself looking into icy blue eyes.
"Vorona? What are you doing here?" The blonde asked in surprise. Rai wasn't with her so he must have been left with Kadota. Izaya was leaning against the counter holding a mug of coffee.
"Shizu-chan, your hair is still wet." The mug was placed on the side, Izaya taking the towel from his head to gently dry his hair.
"Shizuo-senpai, I request a talk." Vorona glared at Izaya. "Alone please."
"Izaya..." Shizuo whispered taking the towel.
"I know. Shiki-san is outside, right?" Vorona nodded. "I have to talk with him anyway." Shizuo smiled sadly watching his lover walk away.
"You look well." Shizuo said pointlessly. "You're here about Kadota, aren't you?"
"Your assumption is the correct one. Kyohei needs assistance." Vorona continued to stare at him. "Psychological examination proved Kyhoei needs to face past regrets."
Wordlessly Shizuo let the towel flop to the floor taking a seat opposite the blonde. Vorona being the one to talk to him about Kadota's request was a huge surprise. "Kyohei came to see you. Correct?" Shizuo barely gave a nod before Vorona continued. "The request was asked?"
"No."
"Foolish. Kyohei is stubborn."
"Maybe he didn't want to hurt me." Shizuo said softly clutching his hands together. Vorona's lips twitched upwards for a mere moment.
"Shizuo-sempai understands?"
"I think so. It's not me he needs help from." Shizuo swallowed.
"Correct. Past regret is Shizuka-sempai." Shizuo sat rigid in his seat. "Kyhoei has failed. Therefore I will request." Vorona smiled meeting his gaze. Shizuo shivered.
x-x-x
Nine o'clock the digits flashes up on the alarm clock. The thing was pretty much obsolete now what with Ryo waking up at precise times. Ryo was fast asleep in his cot. Shizuo half wished his baby was up and crying. At least then it would give him something else to do other than thinking about his conversation with Vorona.
Kadota had known he wouldn't be able to refuse a friend's request. Kadota knew the problems he had. Vorona was only looking after the best interests of her family. It wasn't selfish for her to want Kadota to love her unconditionally.
He hadn't yet told Izaya unable to find the words. After Vorona had left taken back by Shiki, Shizuo had feigned tiredness and been in bed ever since. Now he could hear the click of the light switch, the door opening and the careful padding across the bedroom floor.
Releasing his death grip on the covers, Shizuo scrunched his eyes closed. The bed dipped slightly Izaya climbing in. The raven shifted closer placing a kiss against his cheek.
"...what did I say about molesting me in my sleep?" Shizuo murmured.
"But you weren't asleep." Izaya whispered back. "Do you feel like talking about it now?" Shizuo sighed knowing it was unavoidable.
"Not really. Suppose I have to though. Vorona wants me to go on a date with Kadota."
"..."
"..."
"...I'm waiting for the punchline." Izaya finally filled the awkward silence.
"You and me both." Shizuo ran a hand through his hair.
"So Vorona came to ask you to go on a date with her husband?"
"Not quite me." He couldn't see Izaya's face in the dark but something told him that was a good thing.
"Shizuka. That idiot believes he's still in love with Shizuka." Izaya summed up for him. "What did you say? No, it doesn't matter what you said. You agreed to it, didn't you?"
"I said I'd think about it. Kadota didn't want to ask me. His counsellor said he needs closure on his first love. We didn't exactly give him a chance."
"For good reason. I didn't want anyone getting in my way." Izaya grumbled arms circling around his waist. "...go ahead."
"What?" Shizuo's eyes snapped wide.
"If you want to do it. Do it."
"You want me to go on a date with Kadota?"
Izaya sighed climbing on top of him. "No, I don't want you to. However if this stops any unwanted feelings developing then I'd rather get it over with now. Time is a dangerous thing, Shizu-chan. If Dotachin believes he still has feelings for you, the longer you wait the stronger they might grow."
"Is that a warning?" Shizuo groaned laying lax. Izaya's head rested on his chest. It was a little painful but the blonde said nothing. Lately it didn't feel like they had enough intimacy between them.
"Perhaps or it could be advice."
"I'd have to dress up as Shizuka again..."
"That's up to you. Don't do anything you don't want to." Shizuo closed his eyes confused about his lover's actions. Beforehand Izaya would have fought tooth and nail to make sure no one else got near him.
"I thought you'd be against this."
"I trust you. If you need me you know where I'll be. Or was you hoping I'd stop you?" Izaya chuckled quietly.
"...sorry." Shizuo murmured finding Izaya's hand in the darkness.
"I'm used to playing the villain." His lover said breezily. "Ne,Shizu-chan. Don't cheat on me." With a low growl he tapped Izaya on the head.
"As if that could happen. Idiot." A date with Kadota...Shizuo wasn't looking forward to it but if this was the only way to get their friendship back to how it was...a date with Kadota...it was unthinkable. He almost wished he had never given Izaya his phone.
