Err... Sorry? Yeah... it's very difficult to write on a tablet. So forgive any serious grammar mistakes there might be.
Anyways while I was gone i notice that the favorites and follows went up. That makes me happy.
The story is REALLY dragging on a bit for me. I just can't seem to stop it.
Off to the chapter now. No reason for me to detain you any longer.
Song: Blow Me Away- Breaking Benjamin
The door to the common room burst open and without wasting a second, Agni sped down the hall, He kicked open his own door at the far end of it and entered. He frantically dashed around it to get all of his battle gear.
Bow? Check
Numerous knives and daggers? Check
Assorted explosives? Check
Bag of holding? Double check.
Oh it's on now... Abaddon is going to eat his words. Agni thought as he went over a quick mental list.
He sighed and made his hand sign before sinking into the shadows.
Popping out of the shadows outside the building, he could see the organized chaos around him. People were running to and fro from the armory, fletcher, blacksmith. Catapults were being assembled.
The Guild had refused to use any weapons given to them by the League. Stubbornly, hoping magic would be enough.
Agni ran through the makeshift streets that were set up around the cabins. He passed a group of Amazonians, marching towards the edge of the camp in full battle gear. They looked somewhat excited as they banged their spears of their shields.
Most Team Arrow ran by him, they scaled a building and jumped to the highest cabin they could find to get a good look over the soon to be battlefield. Bloody Arrow winked at his captain before shot a rope across the camp towards the command center, the highest tower in the camp. Lord Oliver and Green Arrow were quick to follow.
Agni frowned as he turned a corner, seeing a mass of adventurers and heroes. There was no way he'd be able to pass through.
Noticing Wizard Fate at the edge of the crowd he grinned and took a few steps back.
"Nabu!" He shouted, cupping his hands around his mouth to intensify his voice "Lend me a lift!"
The Wizard of Fate turned to him and nodded. Nabu lifted his hand and a large golden ankh appeared in the air.
Agni sprinted towards it, gaining as much speed as he could before jumping off it.
Floating through the air was always a pleasant feeling for Cursed Arrow. It reminded him of doing patrol throughout Glundorion. As long as he knew that ground wasn't too far beneath him.
The dark elf shot a small grappling hook at the nearest cabin, latching it on to a small metal pole that was holding several torches. Even though he disliked great heights as a rule. This was no time to indulge in his eccentricities.
He landed less than gracefully on one of the taller cabins. He sighed and rubbed his neck. He should had done that better.
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Nightwing speeding along the other side of cabins. He nodded to Agni with a look of worry in his eyes.
Continuing his run Agni could hear a pair of footsteps behind him. He threw a glance over his shoulder to see Sorif trying to catch up with him.
Agni leaped from the building and to the next. Beneath the street had emptied out so he slipped off the building back on to the dirt road.
Next to him sounded a small thud as Sorif rolled into his view.
The bard groaned as he flipped himself back up.
"You guys make it look so easy." He said, adjusting his short sword as he ran.
Agni paused at the bottom of the main tower. Hesitantly he pulled a scroll out of his cloak and handed it to Sorif
"Listen, I need you to take this to a place known as the Whitehouse. It shouldnt be hard for you to find. Give this to whoever is in charge, it might be our perfect trump card."
Sorif nodded and tied to scroll securely to his belt, before clapping his hands together and with a shout of "Teleportation of Awesomeness!" He disappeared in a crackled of blue energy
The Black Ranger rolled his eyes and lifted his hand, shooting another line to the adjective balcony of the command zipping into the air at a fast past, he could see Richie vault over a chimney before leaping at him.
Agni grabbed him companions hand and with a hearty burst of strength he flung the light elf into the air. Nightwing flew through the air with the boost. He nimbly grabbed the edge of the balcony and flipped over.
Cursed Shadow reached a moment after. A pair of hands reached over and hauled him on to the balcony.
After adjusting his cloak Agni turned to the young elf and smiled "Just like the old days, eh Wing?" He asked walking towards the door
Richie smiled and fell in place next to his companion as he threw the door open.
Several tables littered the large room. Surrounding them were several Guilders and Leaguers.
"What's going on?!" Agni demanded
"Abaddon's is charging towards us." Robin supplied helpfully "We thought you, the acting commander, should be here to decide the plan of action."
Agni glared at the cheeky hero and moved towards the main table.
In the middle of it was a large magical map. It showed everyone in the camp and the battlefield surrounding it.
At the far end of it, where the edge of Abaddon's castle could be seen, the gates were open and hundreds if not thousands of foot soldiers were marching out.
"Didn't He say he wouldn't attack?"
Agni nodded mutely. It really made no sense... why would Abaddon attack with foot soldiers of all things?
Before Agni could think any further he looked up suddenly. A large chunk of Abaddon's castle blew outwards, sending flaming debris at his own soldiers.
"Agni... what the hell was that?" Green Arrow asked
Agni sighed for the thousandth time that day as a few memories came flooding into his mind
The sound of thundering boots and clacking chain mail could be heard behind two figures raced down the stone halls of the castle. Both were wearing dark cloaks and low hoods to hide their features.
Reaching a fork in their path they looked at each other silently until one shrugged and pointed right. The other nodded hesitantly before they turned and ran down it.
It was a short hall and it only took a moment for them to realize it was a dead-end.
The shorter of the two pulled off his hood revealing short spiky white hair, being held up by a head band with a metal plate on it.
"Whoops... my bad" he said, ripped the cloak of, revealing his orange jumpsuit beneath. "You have to get out of here." Orange said, pulling several pieces of paper out of his jacket "I'll deal with them. They can't know you were part of this."
The other figure nodded. It slowly turned around before giving one last look at the clone and fading into the shadows.
Orange whistled a merry tune as he quickly placed the pieces of paper around the hall. Retreating to the far end as he heard the thundering boots come closer, cracked his fingers and waited. "Your move now Don" he said to himself
A score of drow came into his view, lowering their pikes and swords while shouting at him to drop his weapons.
Orange smiled widely and made several hand signs, finishing with Agni's arrowhead shaped one.
" Boom... you lose"
Cursed Shadow blinked as the memories faded.
"It was Orange..." Agni said
"Why the hell would your magical clone send Abaddon's army at us?!" Superman demanded
Agni went silent and stared at the magical map. Not only did Orange leave Iivdril who he was guarding, he went and sent all of Abaddon's army at them.
Abaddon's Footmen...
Abaddon seemed a bit uneased at their meeting... like he knew his army had a flaw.
The dark elf looked at the hologram again. The doors to the castle were shut. No more than the footmen had left.
"He's! I'm a genius!" Agni shouted suddenly
Every turned and gave him a confused looked as he hurriedly explained
"Abaddon's army is ready yet! Why else do you think he hasn't charged us yet? He's still calling it from...wherever!"
"Orange knew we could probably deal with just the foot soldiers, so somehow he managed to send them at us?" Robin asked with a look of understanding starting to bloom on his face.
Agni nodded "So let's get a game of attack planned out already, eh?"
"The Amazonians should lead the charge." Master Bruce advised "They are many and fearsome."
Agni nodded in agreement "I'll guide them into battle."
"I disagree with that." Lord Oliver replied "You are not meant for the front lines of battle. You are best off with Team Arrow on the sidelines."
"For once I agree with Queen over there." The Green Lantern John said "Let The Princess lead the main charge."
Curse Shadow shook his head "I am the commander, the soldiers will look to me for orders. I can handle myself in the battlefield."
"Shadow, look... we are not trying to underestimate your abilities." Mistress Canary coaxed "But you are not a warrior. You are an assassin, a silent killer. You have never led full battle charge before."
"You are not even dressed for it." Master Bruce added "You have no shield, no steed. It is best that you take the Rangers in a silent attack later. Until then, direct the battle from here."
Agni heard what Master actually meant.
If you die or go missing, the alliance will fall apart. Instead of fighting Abaddon we will fight each other.
But Agni didn't quite care
Half of the guild jumped as the dark elf stood, slamming his fist into the table, creating a large crack in the slab of oak wood
"I am The Cursed Shadow, Grim Black Ranger! I have fought more battle and wars than most dare to think! I have led my team and many battle strike teams. If any dare question my ability to lead then let them stand and take my place!"
The Elder Guilders shared a look silently for a few moments. Agni and Richie could tell they were debating mentally if they should agree or push further. They turned and added the League into the conversation as well.
Agni waited several moments in silence before curiously trying to enter the mind link. He was promptly blocked out by The Martian Manhunter who gave him a brief annoyed look.
Black Canary's counterpart looked up at Agni. She knew him better than many, being one of his teachers in the academy and tutor after he joined the Rangers. She recognized the stubborn look that adjourned his face.
"Will you at least allow me to give you some more proper equipment?" She asked
"What I'm wearing is fine!" Agni protested
"And you should take a Guilder with you." Lord Oliver said
"I'm not a child that needs to be watched over! If I die than so the fates declared. Having an Elder Guilder wont change that!"
"And this is what we get when we allow an immature child to call the shots." Superman complained
"Still better him than you." Slade said from his chair he was casually leaning in. Winking his good eye at the Man of Steel
Agni's eye twitched somewhat unnaturally as he looked in a large mirror at the weapon masters room.
He was wearing his dragon scale armor instead of leather. It was heavier than he would. have liked, but he was told that having better defense was more important than speed in the midst of a large battle.
Gone were his bow, small crossbows, knives, daggers, short sword and many grenades.
Instead he was given a more sturdy bow and arrows. His Weapon was hanging off his belt, and his tomahawk was thankfully still strapped to his leg. They allowed him to keep more weapons within his Bag of Holding that he had strapped to his back. A knife was on his arm and dagger in his boot. A small buckler shield was on his arm.
Out of all the things he was given, he liked the shield. It was just small piece of magical wood on his arm. It allowed him to still use his bow properly without any hinderance and it gave excellent defense
They gave him his cloak back after imbuing it with more magic and spells. He carefully threw it on over his armor.
He walked out of the armory a few moments after receiving a message over his mental link in his ring. Abaddon's army was almost at the camp.
Cursed Shadow sat on his horse, staring down at the warriors before him. Atlanteans, Amazonians, elves and dwarves were all waiting for him to give some sort of inspirational speech.
It was unnerving to say the lease. Usually at this point Agni and the Rangers would be half way to the castle for a quick sneak attack, but not this time. His companions decided to lead the charge beside him.
"Warriors..." Agni began facing them, watching the faces he knew all too well "I cannot ask you to die for my cause... no that I cannot. But I will ask of you this, fight not for our lives, but the lives of our family and friends that depend on it. Fight not for me and my words, fight for those beside you. Those back home wishing... praying that we return victorious. I will not lie to you. This battle might be the end of many of us, but as you give your last breath, as you swing your blade for the last time, remember, you die so that others may live. For tonight, our war ends here! Even if we all die tonight, not to see the dawn, we will prevail. We will bring peace to the empire, to the free lands! For tonight whether we dine in hell or the heavens, remember you gave your life so our children can live! Live and grow up as most of you did, in peace and prosperity. "
The warrior's battle cry rose as Agni finished his short speech. He quickly made for the wall as he could his the enemy forces approaching.
"Amazonians, take the full front, you will be our main charge, King Arthur take the left flank, do not let them surround us." Agni paused and leaped of his horse onto the wooden wall. "Team Arrow, find a good spot, cover the mages and keep a good eye out. Call out if anything is amiss"
The dark elf pranced down the wall, the drow were almost in arrow range.
"What will you have us do?" Someone asked him from behind
Agni turned to see the Rangers assembled around him, all in their war gear. "Stick to the plan. We are the only hope of stopping Abaddon. Stick with your groups. Wait for the signal. Then you all have your orders."
"Do you really think it will work?" Bloody Arrow asked "It's quite the flimsy plan at best."
"It's that or we all die." Cursed Shadow replied curtly. "Now back to your stations."
Agni turned in time to watch as the army came to a stop in front of his flimsy wooden barricade. They were now in an easy arrow shot away from his encampment.
"Archers ready!" He shouted, pulling out his sword and lifting it high.
Team Arrow and many of the Amazonians drew their bows and notched an arrow in them.
As Agni readied to give the order to fire, a beam of light shot into the sky from the castle. It grew larger before turning into a magical hologram of Abaddon. It peered down at the two armies with smugness oozing from it.
"There is no need to fight." Abaddon said , his eyes peering at them over his army. "All you have to do is give me Agni and I will let you all live in peace while I terraform this world."
Agni cocked his head and looked at his former ally. There was something in his eyes...
Uncertainty?
Worry?
Possibly even a bit of fear?
"I will need all of you for my new world. It would be a waste to kill of so many potential warriors and soldiers."
"Archers fire!" Came the sudden shout from Agni as his sword fell, directed at the army of drow.
Richie's eyebrow rose momentarily before he cupped his hands and shouted"FIRE!"
A hail of arrows flew over their heads, blocking out the little light the stars left them. Wails came from the attacking army.
"Fire at will!" Agni shouted, even louder this time.
Another wave of arrows flew over him, many of them glowing bright green and exploding as they hit the enemy.
"Prepare the catapults!" Nightwing ordered one of the Amazonians.
"Tell the spellcasters to prepare themselves." Agni said mentally through his ring.
Much to his surprise, Abaddon's army didn't attack, they stood in place, throwing up wards and shields where they could, but they didn't take a step forward. Something was holding them back as they struggled to stay alive under the relentless barrage of arrows.
"Halt all fire!"Cursed Shadow called, raising a closed hand to signal them to stop.
Within moments the dust cleared and Agni watched in annoyance as Abaddon's army return to its place, the dead disappearing from sight.
The magical Abaddon glared at the much smaller Agni in even more annoyance.
"You know how long it took me to prepare that speech?!" It demanded "You didn't even allow me to finish."
"Go screw yourself Abaddon!" Agni shouted
The fighters behind him cheered and began banging their weapons on the ground and shields, amassing a resounding booming noise that crossed the field, unnerving their enemies.
Abaddon shrugged and waved his hand "Your funeral then." His forces began moving again, leaving their formations as they made to storm The Guild's camp.
"They're coming!" Nightwing shouted, running down the wall "Orders?"
Cursed Shadow turned with a grim look on his face "Fire everything we have."
A storm of boulders and spells flew by him. He watched as many of his attacking kin fell in explosions and hails of boulders.
"Prepare to charge!" He shouted, leaping on too his horse and riding forward
Shadowfoot neighed as he prodded his astral horse forward.
"Sister! Hit them and hit them hard!" Princess Diana called to the other Amazonians. She was one of the few Leaguers that had no problem with killing. She stood tall next to her counterpart in borrowed armor.
Both Green Lanterns had joined her. Both being military, they knew what battle was like. At the moment they were not joining the initial charge, but range attacks with Captain Atom. Superboy had joined the battle as well, completely ignoring the yelpings of his technical father. He stood at the front lines next to Agni and Wonder Woman, gripping his hammer tightly in one hand.
Another thing that bothered Superman. That magical hammer.
Well his uncaring father could take his morals and stick them where the sun doesn't shine,
"Do not fear death! Embrace it kindly and it will be kind with you! If you must die today, die with honor!" Wonder Woman yelled, banging her sword on her shield
Agni turned his horse around and rode it through the wooden gate, followed by his small army.
He slowly pulled out his sword. It wasn't exactly fit for horse riding, but it would do for now.
"Charge!"
Cursed Shadow kicked his horse into a gallop, speeding at the approaching army.
He felt a sudden whisper in his head, just before he reached the drow spears. Without doubt he knew it was from Zatanna. She was standing in the watchtower, staring at the magical maps along with the rest of the Team and Most of the League. She gripped her necklace tightly and stared at the small figure of Agni on the map as it charged bravely towards the enemy. Just as his horse reached their spears she felt a deep thought well up inside of her
Be careful Agni.
The Grim Ranger felt the thought as his horse soared into the air, over the spears.
Metal clashed behind him and a battle cry came from Wonder Woman.
His horse landed in the midst of enemies. Immediately he realized that he was a total idiot. He swept his sword down to deflect a spear that was jabbed at his horse. He tried to move his horse , but found himself entrapped within a circle of enemies.
As he tried to think of a way out he suddenly heard an outcry as a silver hammer blew by him, followed by a bolt of lightning. Conner appeared next to him, hammer in hand. Superboy gripped its large handle in both hands and swung it like a baseball bat to clear away the drow around him before turning to Agni.
"Horse not your style?"
Agni leaped off his horse with a graceful jump. His sword slashed out quickly as with his other hand waved his horse away.
Shadowfoot neighed and slowly disappeared into the smoke as it's owner spun his sword around, slaying drow around him.
The Amazonians over took them, breaking the drow line as chaos broke out in little skirmishes.
Agni dash through the battle, searching for a friendly face. His sword lashed out to block a sword, he spun past his attacker, flinging out his hidden blade and sinking it in between the folds of the drow's armor.
Cursed Shadow continued on without missing a beat by stabbing his sword into the back of another drow. He let it go for a moment to lift out his tomahawk. With a strong arm he flung it at another drow coming his way.
As Agni picked his sword backup and fought his way through the countless drow, he listened to the mental reports coming his way.
The gates are opening again, I think that's some heavy trebuchets they're pulling out.
I have eyes on them, definitely trebuchets. Those things will smash us to pieces. They are moving towards the west side
Agni growled as he sidestepped an axe's arc and lopped off the attackers head.
Strengthen our wards. Pull out more shielding dishes if need be. He ordered mentally, switching his course west.
Master Bruce, Slade, take your groups there! I'll Do what I can to join you.
Out of the corner of his eye, Agni could see Shazam taking most of the attention from the enemy. He was hovering in the air casting lightning down. Turning, he saw Kal rush by on a tide of water.
While most were distracted at trying to bring down the magic enhanced boy, Agni grinned and shouted to Kal
"Waterboy, attack pattern 109 C!"
Kal turned his flow of water around and gave a sharp nod to Agni.
Cursed Shadow mutter a spell to his sword and it suddenly began to. Now dual wielding his favored weapon, Agni sprinted towards Shazam.
"Dance of The Dragons!"
Magical energy quickly took the form of claws around Agni's blades as he attacked. Next to him, Kal came up shouting his own spell.
"Water Dragon Head!"
The water he was riding suddenly took form of a dragon's body and head as it crashed into the drow. Their to attacks combined creating a large water with large red claws.
"Atlantean Dragon!" They shouted in unison
The fearsome dragon spell washed over the drow quickly leaving most in the area dead or severely injured.
Shazam nodded his thanks at their aid as he landed on the ground. "Thanks for that. Not sure how much longer I could have held up for."
The ground around them shuddered. Looking up, Agni could see huge flaming boulders flying through the sky. In the distance he could see the trebuchets already standing and launching possibly magical stones through the air.
Curses flew from his lips as he ran off towards them. His swords spun around him, deflecting and parrying anyone who attacked him.
The ground shook again. Throwing a glance over his shoulder, Agni could see the magic around his large camp beginning to waver.
Someone needs to take those out! Green Lantern screamed into his head. We can't stopped them all! These things are magical and hitting us really hard.
Almost there!
Agni stopped many yards from the trebuchets. They were guarded by a lot of soldiers. It even looked like Abaddon had mages there as well.
Before Agni could call for help he saw Master Bruce come running up followed by the rest of his group.
Nightwing used his Ranger Weapon to fling himself into the air. He grabbed hold of one of the trebuchets arms and heaved himself up. His staff shrunk and disappeared as he pulled out a short sword.
It cackled with electricity as he stabbed it into the large catapult, setting it ablaze. He slipped off as it began to crumble and engaged its guards with his sword and shield.
Jason Todd ran straight for the first guard he saw, not bothering to pull out his sword he stabbed his dagger into the guard's neck before turning and throwing it clear across the area into another chest. He pulled out long sword from his back in time to stop a sword from cleaving him in half. With a snarl he planted his fist in the other's face before stabbing his sword through him as well.
The air shook around them, throwing several off their balance. Agni had to pause in mid strike to turn and see what was coming at then now.
Several meters away was Slade Wilson followed by Sorif and Harry.
In the hands of the young bard was a lute, ever so often he would string it causing a large air wave to blow everything around him away. Harry was nonchalantly striding next to them. He waved his hand and a large purple beam shot from it, who ever it hit would drop lifeless to the ground in screams of pain.
As a score of drow came towards them Sorif hit the strings a bit to strongly, sending them all flying in the air.
Along with Deathstroke.
Agni's mentor hit the ground with a sickening crunch. He rolled over and moaned in pain. He stood up slowly with his arm bent in several ways it shouldn't.
"Uh... whoops?"
"Watch where you aim that damned thing, bard."
"Sorry!"
As Deathstroke tried to fix his arm, he ignored the drow soldier who tried to sneak up on him. He only flinched somewhat as he felt the sword go through his chest.
"You know..." Deathstroke said conversationally, finishing setting his arm back into place as flexing it to make sure it regenerated properly "You are going to have to try a lot harder than that to kill me."
The drow militia let go of his sword in fear and slowly backed away.
Deathstroke removed his small crossbow from his belt and aimed it at the fleeing drow.
As he took aim, a black tipped arrow shot from behind them, dropping the drow to ground.
Slade turned and glared at Agni with his one good eye as his protégé fired off at several guards guarding the trebuchet.
Cursed Shadow smirked at his mentor when the walked up to where he was crouching.
"Your plan?" The one eyed mercenary asked
The dark elf shrugged "Take down the trebuchets. It's not exactly complicated."
Slade nodded and quickly walked away, brandishing his sword in a long arc.
Mercilessly he sliced his sword through the first guard he came across. His adamantine sword cutting through the soldier like a hot knife through butter. Without hesitation he continued his step, pulling out his small crossbow with his other hand.
Several more guards fell with small bolts in between their chain mail and plate armor.
Deathstroke removed his sword from another guards spine as he reached the trebuchet. A small metal ball fell from his hand as he turned and walked away.
He walked several feet before a loud ticking was heard and the trebuchet burst into flames.
Sorif swung his lute over his shoulder and pulled out a long sword from his belt. He cautiously made towards a trebuchet, hoping to not be noticed. Sadly, a drow commando saw him and ran at him, brandishing a large axe. The young bard sidestepped the first swing and raised his sword.
"You know I really rather not fight. How about you tell me your story instead?"
The drow snarled and charged Sorif again, his axe poised high over his head to cleave Sorif in half.
Sorif cringed and dodged the swing, watching the axe sink deeply into the ground. He closed one eye and sadly sunk his own weapon into the drow's side.
"Really sorry about that." Sorif said as the drow fell to the ground "I did try to talk things out..."
Sorif dashed towards the nearest trebuchet, but stopped short.
"How am I supposed to destroy this?!" He shouted to a passing Jason Todd who was pummeling his way through guards with nothing but his fists and a knife.
A crunch was heard behind him and he spun around to a larger drow lifted the axe from the ground with ease.
"You dont." The drow said, charging at him "You die."
"Why don't you tell me your story instead?"
Seeing the drow ignoring him and still coming right at him, Sorif shakily lifted his sword to block the axe, but his shaking hands dropped the blade.
The drow suddenly tripped over his own two feet and sunk hilt deep into the gleaming blade.
Sorif covered his eyes as the drow went spinning wildly into the trebuchet, falling in between the rotating arms.
There was a sickening crunch and a spray of red blood. Sorif peeked through his fingers seeing the trebuchet creak loudly and its wood splinter as it crashed in on itself.
Sorif calmly walked over to the pike of broken wood and removed his sword from the soldiers kidney. He turned and saw Jason Todd staring at him with surprise.
"What the hell, Sorif?"
Sorif wiped the blood off his sword and sheathed it "I meant to do that. All part of my secret awesome plan really."
Harry watched the drow circle around him with a slight expression of amusement. His eyes shone a furious green. "Astral Vortex." He spoke out loud. A dark vortex suddenly spun around him, sucking in the drow. It spat that back out lifeless. The Sorcerer Supreme turned whipping out a small wooden wand and shouting "Bombarda!"
He paused for a moment before ducking his head as another trebuchet exploded into flames.
"Bloody hell... I over did that a bit." He muttered to himself, slipping his wand back into his cloak "You might want to all get down." The british sorcerer shouted mentally into the mind link "and possibly get behind something"
Sorcerer Supreme lifted his hand towards the largest group on drow, trying in vain to guard one of the last trebuchets. "Many Magic Missile!" Several bright blue orbs suddenly flew from his outstretched fingers. Most of the Guilders eyes grew wide as they hurried to find cover.
Harry casually lifted his other hand and more missile came out, zooming around the battlefield, exploded in fierce magical fire.
Agni carefully lifted his head from the rubble of one of the trebuchets. His eyes scanning his surroundings.
He carefully climbed out, dusting wood splinters from his coat. Harry strode up to him with a pleased grin on his face.
"What the hell Harry?!" Agni shouted "Would a bit more warning have hurt? Hows is that even fucking possible?! 23 magic missiles?!"
Harry shrugged, waving his right hand causing an explosion to suddenly erupt not far from them.
"I am Sorcerer Supreme, arent I?"
Agni muttered curses under his breath as his pulled his sword from the ground.
We have a problem, Agni!
The Cursed Shadow groaned as he focused on the mental link
The gates opened again, dozens of driders are pouring out, I think I can see a score of magic users as well.
Agni looked at Harry who was frowning
"Driders... half of a spider and half drow. Lolth's abominations. Why would Abaddon have any of those?"
"If I knew I probably wouldn't be standing here." Agni replied, surveying the battle field.
Most of the initial charge was broken. Most had fled back towards to the castle to join the second wave, what was left was insanely attacking the force of Amazonians.
Everyone rendezvous with the Amazonians. Atlanteans, right-wing, Team Arrow, Bat, and whats left of our heavy hitters group on the left. We have another charge coming towards us. I'm going back to the tower. I have a really good idea.
Agni turned and nodded to Harry and sunk into his shadow.
Agni leaped to the top of the tower and stared over the battlefield. The driders were charging in large groups of six.
Perfect.
"You sure this is a good idea.?" Arsenal Asked, while he hauled himself over the edge of the towers roof.
"Nope."
"Well that's comforting." Arsenal Said sarcastically while reaching into the magical pouch he was given
Agni grinned as he reached unto his own and pulled out rocket launcher.
"This is actually down right insane." Arsenal acknowledged as he hefted his rocket launcher on to his shoulder
"Sure is."
Down below them the battle was fierce. The driders were punching holes into Agni's defense. A few drow had almost made to the encampment, but were either shot or chopped at by Agni's defenses.
The ground beneath him shook slightly as a large boulder managed to get by his wards and smash into a cabin at the edge of his camp.
Agni fired his rocket at a group of driders that were attempting to flank his archers. His aim was almost perfect and he watched as several spider legs flew through the air 7n a gory mess.
Another missile flew down from Arsenal hitting a group of drow that were advancing to far down the field.
"Good shot Roy!" Agni cheered, scanning the battlefield.
The dirt was blasted into the air by a green train construct that was most likely from Hal Jordan, showing the field in dust,
Agni lowered the launcher to glance at Roy who was scanning the cornfield.
"That's a big rocket launcher..." Agni muttered with an annoyed look while placing his rocket launcher back within the pouch. He reached his arm in and pulled out a larger one. After sliding in a rocket he fired it off and fired it down at the battle.
Roy had to grab on to a post to keep himself from falling. The shockwave had rattled through the camp causing a small quake.
"And that is why magic is awesome." Agni said happily
Arsenal's eye brow rose as he saw the drow go into a panic from the hail of Agni's magical attacks. He stared at his companion in envy for a few minutes before smiling and reaching into his pack.
Agni felt a wave of air hit him powerfully, sending him skidding across the roof. Turning to see who his attacker was, he saw it was just Arsenal with a REALLY big rocket launcher being propped up by three legs and the edge of the roof.
"Oh you want to play it like that, huh?" Agni exclaimed, reaching into his bag once more.
"Are you guys overcompensating for something? " Zatanna asked suddenly
both jumped and spun around to face the female magician
"How long have you been here?!" Agni demanded
Zatanna shrugged "Long enough."
"He started it" Roy declared quickly
"This was your big idea?" Zatanna asked staring as Agni fired another rocket.
"Admittedly not my best. But in any case, things are going better than hoped."
Agni lowered his rocket and gazed over the battlefield. "I've got to get back down." He grumbled. "Our left flank is under heavy fire."
Cursed Shadow took a few steps back on the roof and grimaced. "I'll probably regret this in the morning."
"Try not to die..." Zatanna called
Agni sprinted off the roof, recklessly leaping into the air when he reached the edge. As he reached his peak, he called upon his power and burst into magnificent flames.
Barbra walked through the common room towards Agni who was sitting calmly amongst the young adventurers. He mindlessly ran a hand through his bright white hair as he chuckled at a joke made by Wally.
"Agni, can I talk to you a moment?"
The dark elf nodded and stood up. He made his way through the crowded room and followed Oracle to the hallway.
As soon as he closed the door and turned around he sensed danger.
With inhumane speed he deflected the dagger that would have impaled him with his left hand. As it came back around his hidden blade shot out, knocking it away where it went spinning into the wall.
"Are you going to tell me what in the gods name is wrong or am in going to have to pin you to the wall?" Agni demanded angrily
"You're not Agni." Barbra spat
"What?! Of course I am."
"I know Agni. He would not be walking about without his hood, he would never Be open about being draconic and would definitely never Be caught dead being involved with a human girl!"
Agni stared at her silently for several moments as he recalled what he used to be like.
SEVERE FLASHBACK
A dark shadow dashed across the alley. It quickly made its way up and across a roof top, nit slow down for a moment.
Agni saw his target through a window of the carriage she was sitting in. He slowly crept to the edge of the roof and peered out over it. Only three guards? This was child's play.
three arrows whistled simultaneously striking each guard in the throat. Before their bodies hit the floor Agni was already off the roof and kicking the door of the carriage open.
Inside sat paled skin woman clutching a dagger. She stabbed it at the cloaked person, but he knocked it from her hands with an annoyed backhand.
"Get out of the carriage." a gruff voice ordered
"I'll never do as you say, you'll have to force me!"
A large sigh exhaled from Agni as grabbed the woman by her hair and flung her from the wagon.
A sharp cry of pain came from the woman as she hit the cold stone ground. She stared at Agni with seething hatred. The empty hooded figure stood in front of her silently.
"Killing me will do you no good." She said haughtily "All that will happen is your own downfall"
Agni cocked his head "Ahh... so you're one of the 'I'm not worth anything' types, eh? Usually ambassadors like to try to bribe me."
The woman stood up slowly, brushing her hair from her ears, revealing small round ones. "Why would you try to kill me? Now when our two races are so close to being at peace once more?"
Agni growled at the human woman. "Yes, while you and the Highs make peace you seem to forget about something. How about the drow who your own father goaded and forced into starting this forsaken war? You seem fine with letting them rot."
"What the drow did was on their conciousness. My race had nothing to do with it."
"DO NOT LIE TO ME!" Agni shouted, his hand shooting up and grabbing her by the neck. "Do you think I know not of your plans? How you plan to attack again? Or how about the poison in the emperor's wine?"
The human woman stared at him with hidden astonishment. She quickly pried his hands off her neck and backed away.
"We would do no such thing! We are a peace-loving race!"
Agni sighed again before waving his hand over his head.
a body suddenly fell from a roof above them.
The human ambassador squinted in the darkness. She couldn't tell what it was.
Agni it a kick and it began to squirm. He grabbed it and lifted it up showing it to be a person. He ripped the rope from its mouth mercilessly.
"I-I'm sorry p-princess. They forced it from me... the horrors they p-p-put me through. Fire... ever-"
Agni knocked the man upside the head knocking it out cold.
The woman stared at Agni with fear she seemingly regained her courage and stood to face him
"Hmmph, even if you have found out our plan, there is nothing you can do about it?"
"Oh really?"
The human woman smirked "You should have killed me when you had the chance." She said haughtily before turning and cupping her hands around her mouth "Down at 'em boys! Show him what humans are made of!"
Agni gazed at her carefully "Pathetic humans." He muttered
He turned slowly to see 2 dozen armed persons standing around him.
Darkness suddenly overtook everyone in the small plaza. All the torches went out, a thick black shadow appeared, stealing everyone's vision.
The human ambassador shook in fear as a malicious spell fell over her.
She jumped in fear as a scream erupted next to her, followed by a dark chuckle. Metal clashed next to her.
Suddenly all was silent again. She slowly began to back away, but she didn't get far before a low whisper echoed through her ears..
"You run and fall as you flee from me."
Several screams echoed through the plaza, there was a quick flash of metal and all was silent again
"But with my sword and knife your death is quite clean" was heard, carried magically through the darkness.
Fire appeared in front of her, stopping her escape. It slowly encircled her, blocking all ways out.
"And when my dream is on the fly"
The fire suddenly exploded , shooting into the sky. She felt a searing heat on her face. She spun around in search for a way out.
"And when my dream is on the fly... standing in my way will surely cause you to die."
Pain was all she felt for a small moment. It took her several more moments to realize she was in severe pain from the many arrows sticking out of her.
The fire departed as quickly as it appeared. The woman could see bodies strewn everywhere. There were swords, axes, knives, daggers, arrows and bolts sticking out of them. Some where burnt to nearly a crisp and others seemed to have had their lives sucked out of them.
She turned around one last time to see Agni, a long thin black sword in his hand. A scream was stuck in her throat as he whispered one last line
"Now, fall before me."
His blade tore through her chest, leaving a deep cut from shoulder to hip, seeping blood.
Just as she fell, she saw him turn away, blood, her blood dripping from his blade.
Just before she died she saw him lift his hand to his mouth and speak.
"This is Armory reporting... the job is done. All threats have been dealt with."
FLASHBACK END
Cursed Shadow awoke from his thoughts just in time to direct his descent, his flames taking shape of a large dragon, soaring through the air.
Agni we are having trouble with the mages on the left flank. If you would care to land your stupidly bright ass near them that would be great.
Agni smirked at Bloody Arrows tone and directed himself at the mages.
Dodging spellbolts is usually very easy. Especially when you are in the midst of magical flames trying not to crash into the ground.
Smashing into the ground was always painful. No matter how you cut it.
Fire erupted around him, incinerating plenty of the mages. The flames slowly died down, revealing Agni, kneeling with his fist pressed to the ground and his head bowed.
He stood up and gave a quick look to see if anyone was looking,
Seeing all was clear, he hastily shook his fist and screamed in pain He growled annoyedly and waved his obsidian skinned hand in the air, shaking away the pain.
"Stupid dramatic landings." Agni muttered shaking the feelings back into his hand that hurt like a bitch."
Before he moved, several arrows landed around him. He turned to see a squadron of drow.
"Time to cut a bit loose." Agni said to himself as he faced them. He took a deep breath and smirked
"Fire Dragon's Growl!"
A beam of red and purple flames flew from his mouth . With it Blasting towards them at a high-speed they had little to no hope of escaping and it overtook them, searing their flesh off their skin.
Agni smirked at their dying screams and turned towards where the mages were. "That felt... natural." He muttered
He slipped his sword out of his sheath and sped towards them. His sword swung out, guided by a learned hand. Each strike was keen and well placed. He tore through the spellcaster with ease in a few minutes.
When all were dead he stopped to catch his breath. A short distance away he could see more trebuchets falling to the batclan. A group of driders attacked them head on, with utter recklessness.
Another group of ten were coming his way. Their spider legs tapping furiously on the ground as they made their way towards him.
Agni lifted his tomahawk from his leg and dashed towards them, without hesitation his tomahawk sliced a leg clean off the first drider, leaving it to crumble as Agni's sword went straight into its chest.
He took the remaining ones quickly with his blade before turning around and made for Team Arrow.
Zatanna gazed worriedly over the field. While Agni's theatrics might had been effective, he was scaring his own people. She was beginning to understand why he hid himself behind his cloak and grim exterior.
Duck, slash with hidden blade, move forward, one enemy to the left two at the right and a drider in front. Duck again, pull out bow, shoot one on left, he's dead... arrow in the throat, must've hurt. Spin around break neck of one on right with bow, pull out arrow, dodge drider leg, stab arrow into drider leg, shoot next drow with same arrow. Smirk because that's awesome.
Was what went through Agni's head as he went by another squadron of Abaddon's soldiers. He had received a succor request from Team Arrow at the far side of the field. Much to most dismay he went himself taking only Richie with him. The league was incredibly displeased with him nor allowing them to fight, but at least they were holding to their words to follow his lead. Most were in the infirmary helping the wounded or bombarding the castle from over head with whatever they could.
"Get me a shielding dish out here! Cover the wounded!" He shouted mentally through the mind link "Focus fire at those attacking team Arrow! I want the south side in pieces."
Agni winced as he saw Shazam getting blasted out of the sky. Another one of their heavy hitters were gone.
"Get the shielding dish over the south flank! Hurry!" He shouted "Focus fire of the mages!"
An arrow zoomed by Agni sinking deeply into the broken trebuchet next to hin.
Cursed Shadow stared at the quivering arrow bemused for a moment.
"We're losing ground Shadow" Richie said behind him. "There is just to many of them for us to handle."
Agni turned to see Nightwing hobbling towards him. His leg was wrapped tightly in bandages and were stained red with his blood.
"I'm somewhat out of options here..." Agni muttered "Most of our heavy hitters are down and the league still refuses to coöperate..."
"We need to go all out I guess" Richie said
Agni nodded his head slowly. "Time of the dark?"
Richie nodded back and cast a small healing spell on his leg. He turned to Agni was standing tall with his unnamed sword in one hand and his bracer visible on the other.
Richie slowly took out his own Weapon and gave it a twirl.
as one the two old friends dashed into the battlefeild. Imedeadtly clashing into the drow.
Agni's sword spun in perfect slashing strikes, beside him Richie's staff twirled, bolts of lighting shot from it, blasting apart their enemies.
Agni went low hold his katana in a reverse grip, slashing across before turning and blasting them away with a wave of fire. He ducked as a shockwave of electricity blew over his head.
Standing back to back Cursed Shadow and Nightwing stared down the enemies surrounding them.
"Ready Shadow?" Nightwing asked his hieroglyph floating in front of his hands
"As ready as I can possibly be..." Agni muttered. He lifted his ring to his mouth and commanded everyone to retreat before making his own hand sign.
The two Rangers watched carefully as the allies retreated immediately back towards the camp leaving the two alone within a sea of enemies.
Fire and dark purple energy flared around Agni as he flipped through hand signs, ending on his most common one that was shaped like an arrow-head. Blue electricity and a strong wind blew around his companion.
From a safe distance Zatanna's eyes widen as a huge amount of magical energy suddenly swept across the battlefield. She hastily cast up shields as an immense wave of magic flew around them.
as it settle she could see two figure destroying the battlefield. One was a large dragon the second raven of equal size. They were enveloped in shadows, making the place seem darker even though it was already night. The torches around her suddenly went out as shadows took over everything.
She forced herself to look away as the screams of the dieing tore through her ears. The moans of those having their lives snuffed away by neither the two large avatars but the shadows themselves.
"What is that?"she asked Anna.
"It's called... Death by Shadows. Cursed Shadow and Nightwing's endgame technique."
"They are trying to end the battle quickly." Arsenal observed
"Abaddon's army stands no chance..." Bloody Arrow commented "They destroying everything..." He grimaced "They'll be wiped when the technique is over though... it drains them almost completely."
The two large avatars began to die out and flicker as light returned to the field. Agni and Richie both laid kneeling on the ground, panting to catch their breath.
Everywhere around them were dead bodies, laying strewn across the once cornfield. Not a single soldier was still alive.
Agni looked up at the moon. It was high in the sky marking midnight. Was it possible that's all Abaddon had to throw at them?
Before they could retreat, or even before anyone could dash over, a huge magical hologram of Abaddon appeared over his castle. Looking down amusedly at them.
"Over so soon? Hmmm... those driders were a pain to get, but I suppose it's fine. They served their purpose just fine. What purpose you are probably asking yourselves. Just to tire you out! Let the real battle begin, happy dieing!"
Agni's eye twitched at the flippant way his former friend spoke, he slowly got up to his feet and looked towards the castle.
Out of it was pouring more things than he could count. Skeletons, driders, trolls, demons, goblins, humans, drow, dwarves, and balors... so many balors. Not even the ones they were fighting before, large adult ones with monstrous four arms, pinchers and canine faces.
Worse of all flying in above the castle were two large fully grown and seemingly agitated...
Dragons.
"I just wanted world peace... " Agni shouted wearily, "but, fuck me right?"
