Chapter 53

Letty's POV

His face seemed to vanish right before me. He was gone. I looked and looked but he was nowhere to be seen. I felt a little tug on my arm.

"Mommy?" a small voice came through the fog that had enveloped my mind.

I looked down to see Miriam.

"Mommy, I wanna go home and see Daddy," Miriam said in her child voice

I stared off into the distance looking for the boy but he was nowhere. I reached down and picked up Miri holding her close.

"Let's go home and see Daddy," I said still thinking about the boy I had seen.

We arrived home and the two girls ran inside and I followed behind them. I opened the door to see the two girls hanging off of Dom. They were talking to him a mile a minute but when Dom saw the expression on my face he excused the girls.

"Letty, are you ok? What happened?" he asked placing his hands on my arms.

"Dom I saw him! I swear it was him, his face…I can still see it!" I started blubbering out.

"Slow down! Who did you see Letty?"

"Our son!"

"Letty, we have two GIRLS who are both upstairs!" Dom said raising his voice slightly.

"Dom listen to me! It was our SON!" I yelled.

I took a minute to sink in.

"Letty he's dead, you know that,"

"Dom-"

"Letty I thought this would have passed by its been five years since Miriam was born. You need help. I should have done something earlier," he said

"I'm not depressed! I saw his face I'm not crazy!"

"LETTY STOP!" Dom yelled squeezing my arms.

"Daddy?" a little voice called out.

I turned my back to Dom as tears streamed down my face.

"Just a minute baby!" he called out to one of the girls.

"Letty," he said softly as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

I yanked my shoulder from his grasp. Dom sighed before leaving me alone. For the rest of the evening we barely said a word to each other. We mechanically functioned throughout all our responsibilities. I knew the child I had seen was my son. He looked exactly like Ella and looked to be the same age as well. That night as I lay in bed I knew I needed to find answers and the place to start was at the hospital where he was born. I looked next to me to check that Dom was asleep before I slipped silently out of bed and into a pair of clothes. I snuck out of the house as quietly as I could so as not to wake Dom or the girls. As I drove to the hospital Dom's words rung through my head. Was I actually sick? Did I need help? But I the face I had seen stayed imprinted in my mind. It had to be him. I arrived at the hospital which was busier than I thought it would be at one in the morning. I didn't know whether that was a good thing or bad thing in my case. I walked into the hospital and took the elevator to the third floor where all my children had been born. I walked up the nurse's desk to find a young nurse sitting at the desk.

"Excuse me, I was wondering if I could get some information?" I asked.

The nurse looked up obviously annoyed with my presence. An intern I decided.

"What kind of information?" she said with a sigh.

"Could I get the birth records for April 16, 2011?"

"I'll be right back," she said slipping into a room behind her.

Around 10 minutes later she returned carrying a folder labeled with the date I had asked for.

"Here you go," she said dropping it with a thud on the counter in front of me.

"Thank you," I said.

I took the folder and opened it looking through all the names of babies born that day. I found Eleanor's name but Henry was nowhere to be seen. All children's names where written whether they had lived or died. But his name was nowhere. Something was wrong. Eleanor had been born at 6:45 am I scanned the list looking for other babies born around that time. There where only two others. One born at 6:50 and another at 7:00. Both boys, one alive and the other deceased. Both unrecorded names. One of them had to be my son, the one that was alive. The deceased baby was listed under unknown parents as well, that wasn't possible. It had to have been recorded unless someone was trying to cover something up. I looked at the names of the other baby's parents.

"Oh my gosh," I said.

It was old friend Camilla. I knew she had a dark past but how could this have happened? Why would she have taken my child. I turned away from the nurse's desk and walked away silently. It wasn't positive but I knew he was alive. I still didn't understand how this could have happened? One of the nurses had to be in on it. I returned home deep in thought. This was crazy. I got home and immediately went straight to my computer. I began typing in Camilla's name. I soon found that she had been a runaway named Cameron as a teenager ending up in the world of street racing falling in love with Jonny Tran. It made sense now. She would hate Dom and I for killing him. She had held it against us all these years. The police had been trying to track her down for years after she shot three men but after changing her name she disappeared. They found her again last year after illegal drug activity but she escaped into Mexico. I had to go find my son. Dom was still asleep and now would be the best time so he couldn't stop me. He couldn't come with me either. Silently a packed a duffel bag with only the necessities. I looked into the room to see Dom still asleep, I didn't know when I would see him next. I was returning into the world of illegal activity. I walked into the girls' bedrooms kissing them both on the forehead before leaving. It broke my heart to leave them all but I had to. Carrying my bag I went downstairs to the garage taking out my Charger. It had been a long time since I had drove her. I got in closing the door and driving away.

Dom's POV

I woke up and Letty wasn't next to me. I got up and out of bed and began to look around. She wasn't in the bathroom or anywhere downstairs and both girls where still asleep. I walked into the garage. The minivan still sat there but her Charger was gone. My heart sank as I picked up a small piece of paper from the ground saying:

DON'T LOOK FOR ME
