So. The saiyans have made it to Earth, this time on a 'diplomatic' mission rather than one of vengeance.

...Maybe a little bit of vengeance.

And unbeknownst to them, they've brought some friends.

Stuff;

sarista wow; Gohan assumed that any of Goku's friends would refuse to train them, including Roshi and Korin. Plus, Roshi was focusing on Raditz at the time, so...
The excitement was Piccolo's, yeah. Maybe a little from the kids, since ki sensing seems to pick up on emotions a little, but mostly Piccolo. Gohan has been training in the basics for about a year, he's able to regulate his energy a bit better than canon, and he had a few minutes to catch his breath while Hercule and Piccolo were fighting one another.

The 'Smarter than both of us' line was meant to be Goku's opinion, not necessarily fact, and Chichi only agreed so readily because she knew Goku/Yamcha/whoever would be able to step in if anything were to happen, unlike in canon where Piccolo was the most powerful person on the planet when he kidnapped Gohan.
Boxer and Nikki should be fun to play around with when they're old enough to get involved in the plot. Magic has some seriously fun potential...

Glad you liked Freeza, and I agree I probably didn't do Dodoria right... I should reread that part of the manga. Good catch with Freeza's motivations, too. He has an inkling that Vegeta's planning something, and he figures he can use some of his more expendable troops to get a clearer picture. If Vegeta has a resistance force secreted away somewhere, then Freeza can get an idea of their numbers before he sends Ginyu to sort them out. That's the plan, at least.

PyroSolracIII; The Kaioken is one of those things that's a little vague on the details - apparently the Times Two Kaioken is something Goku built up to, meaning there should be a level between 'base' and 'Times Two'. For the purposes of this story, a 'normal' Kaioken increases the user's power by about 50%, with X2 being the level following that.

oscurolight; Glad you liked it! Erasa and Sharpner will appear later on, but before the Buu Saga.

TaitanoRules555; Gohan will be one of the main characters when he's older, yeah, but he won't be the only one. There'll probably be an arc or two with him as the main character around the time of the Cell or Buu sagas.

...

Two streaks of white light shot through the sky, the path of the metallic orbs visible from several miles out. Cars screeched to a halt as the orbs slammed into the pavement in the middle of East City.

Across the world, a dozen pairs of eyes opened, almost simultaneously, as they felt the huge energies crash to Earth.

The saiyans had arrived.

OoOoO

Vegeta scowled as he exited the Attack Ball, looking around at the Earthlings nearby. "Nappa, where the hell is Raditz? I'm not in the mood for hide and seek."

Nappa nodded in acknowledgement as he fiddled with his scouter. "Well... I can't pick up his power, but it looks like his scouter's still on, at least. It's... that way," he declared, pointing to the west. "A long way, too. Seems like we're on the wrong side of the planet."

"Damn it all..." Vegeta seethed impatiently, before turning back to snap at Nappa again. "What are you waiting for? Get moving!"

"What do we do about the Earthlings?"

"I really couldn't care less." the prince spat, slowly rising into the air and gazing westward. Nappa smirked, preparing to blast the city off the face of the earth-

-shff-

"I wouldn't try that," hissed a voice next to Nappa's ear as his wrist was suddenly gripped by someone, their hand like an iron vice. "Maybe it's different for you guys, but we don't say hello with genocide."

Vegeta gave a critical look at the newcomer, curious as to who could restrain Nappa so easily. Short, spiked hair, a scar on his cheek, and a ridiculous orange outfit. A sword was sheathed at his hip, his free hand resting on the hilt. While he was a lot wirier than most saiyans tended to be, he looked enough like one... "So you're Kakarot?" he guessed, only a little surprised when the stranger shook his head.

"No, but I'm here to bring you to him. Raditz, too," the earthling relaxed slightly, finally releasing Nappa's wrist. "I'm Yamcha, one of Earth's elite warriors. Put your hands out, and I can transport us all. It'll be faster."

The prince narrowed his eyes. "You expect me to hold your hand? I can fly under my own power, I don't need you."

Yamcha shrugged, glaring out the corner of his eye at Nappa, who was still shaking out his wrist. "Fine. You'll need directions, though. I'll lead you to them." he raised a brow challengingly, apparently waiting for some sort of argument. Not that Vegeta would allow him the satisfaction.

"Fine then." Vegeta snarled out, giving one last look of disdain to the civilians milling about, none of them brave enough to get any closer to the strange alien invaders. He put them out of his mind, rocketing after Yamcha, with Nappa close behind them both.

OoOoO

"Alright, Yamcha's intercepted them both," Chiaotzu reported, having extended his telepathy to keep track of the bandit. "He's looking for a neutral position to meet with Goku and the others. Ideas?"

Tien closed all three of his eyes, nodding as he reached a conclusion. "Better make it one of the mountains near Goku's place. That'll give Raditz a chance to beat them to the meeting place, since he has to travel from Kame House."

"Got it, I'll let Goku and Chichi know first. Krillin's actually on his way over there already, so I'll let Raditz know the plan, too. He'll be able to pick up on Goku's energy anyway," the diminutive psychic's glowing blue eyes flashed twice, before he blinked them back to normal. "Done. Are you-?"

"I don't trust myself around those two. It was easier with Goku's brother, since I never actually met him, but seeing the old, monstrous Vegeta and his brute of a bodyguard... I'm not convinced that I wouldn't just kill them both on the spot." Tien seethed, flashes of memories from his first death echoing through his mind.

His psychic companion didn't reply verbally, instead holding out his hands in invitation for a spar.

OoOoO

Raditz rolled his shoulder, looking vaguely to the north. He'd managed to repair the torso of his battle armour, albeit by cannibalising the shoulderpads. He'd also removed the three pads hanging from the waist, in case he needed to restore it again. Underneath, he wore a loose-fitting pair of trousers, dyed the same pale brown as the accents of his armor. His boots and gauntlets were unchanged, but he'd adjusted the crimson band from his leg, now wearing two on his left arm rather than just one.

"You ready to meet with them again, Raditz?" Roshi asked, he and Launch (currently blonde) stood on the beach a few feet behind. The Turtle Master could feel the mix of emotions radiating off of his newest student.

"Yeah, I think so. I mean, I'm nearly up to Nappa's level right now, and he doesn't have half as many tricks as you do. Prince Vegeta, though..."

"Hey, who cares about that selfish prick?" Launch interrupted Raditz' musing. "He hasn't done anything to earn your respect. You know if he tries anything, Goku and the others'll take him down, right?"

Raditz blinked in shock, his face slowly stretching into a grin at the idea. "They would, wouldn't they? Thanks, Launch. I think I needed to hear that."

The blonde mimicked his expression as she stepped closer. She looked up at the saiyan, seeming to come to a conclusion. "When you get back, we're going to go out and celebrate, alright?"

"Celebrate what?" the saiyan frowned, genuinely confused. Did another one of Kakarot's friends have a birth date celebration coming up? That seemed like the kind of thing the old man would usually mention ahead of time.

Launch rocked back and forth on her heels for a second, before stretching up and pressing her lips against his cheek. "That. Now, get going before you miss all the fun!"

Raditz complied, glad for the flight ahead of him.

It'd give him a chance to get rid of the blush on his face.

OoOoO

"Raditz is on his way," Goku reported, having the better ki sense of the two. "And Krillin's nearly here, too."

"Good, good," Chichi replied absently, looking off to one direction and adjusting the straps on her armour. "At least Gohan's out today, he won't be involved in this."

Goku nodded, his enhanced senses snapping out to where Chichi was looking. "Yeah, he's just meeting up with Piccolo now. Videl and Hercule are there already."

"Good. A-At least he's safe out there, away f-from these new saiyans." the Ox Princess murmured, a slight catch in her voice.

"Hey." Chichi sniffled, looking up at her husband's deadly serious expression. "You are not a bad mother. Everything you've done, you've done to make sure he's safe and happy and can use all his potential. Gohan understands that too, but he doesn't want you to get hurt. He doesn't want anyone to get hurt. We should be proud of what an amazing person he's turning out to be, so no more crying, okay?"

The black-haired woman gave a weak chuckle, wiping her eyes with the band on her wrist. "When did you get so smart?"

"I've been married to you for six years, I was bound to pick something up." Goku replied without a second of hesitation, holding her hand as the two of them floated away from their home and off to the agreed meeting point.

OoOoO

Krillin touched down silently, making his way over to the married couple with a smile. "Fancy meeting you two all the way out here."

"Krillin! Raditz'll be here in a minute. Anything else you think we need to know before this goes down?" Goku grinned back, he and Krillin bumping their fists in greeting. Chichi, for her part, simply nodded, attention focused on the distant powers following Yamcha.

The monk stepped back for a second, thinking. "Well, Vegeta's the one to keep an eye on. Nappa -the bigger guy- basically follows Vegeta's orders. So we'll have to find a way to impress Vegeta, hopefully without making damaging his ego too much and turning him against us," he sighed, rubbing his forehead. "It's going to be a tough balancing act. I'm just disappointed we didn't have more time to train with a hundred times normal gravity."

"Yeah, I remember you saying I could've done it really fast using the Zenka thing, but..." Goku trailed off. "Maybe we should just lead with how we can get stronger using the Kaioken, offer to teach it to them along with all the other tricks."

Krillin paused for a moment, weighing up the pros and cons. "Hmm... that's probably the best thing we have to placate Vegeta, yeah. The main thing to focus on is how we're planning on taking down Freeza. That's the common goal, here. If we get them to agree to that much, we'll be doing well," he shook his head, a wry smile on his face. "Man, it's weird. All this time, we've mostly just been working things out on the fly, I'm not used to having a plan in mind beforehand."

Raditz slammed down next to them before Goku could reply, landing roughly with bent knees from the impact. "They're close, aren't they?"

His brother nodded in agreement, his spikes wobbling in the breeze. "You ready for this?"

"Yeah, yeah, I think I am. What about you? You're going to have to deal with Vegeta, not me." Raditz muttered, flinching as three pinpricks came into view in the distance.

OoOoO

"Dodoria, sir, we've managed to locate where the saiyans landed. Once they turn their scouters back on, we'll be able to pinpoint their location." Pulm reported dutifully, as the battleship slipped back into normal space within sight of Earth.

"Awright. Just make sure not to kill 'em when ya find 'em. Freeza wants to deal with the prince himself, and we all want a crack at the monkeys 'fore we let 'em die." the obese pink alien drawled, revelling in his new command position. It turned out Vegeta had offended enough members of the PTO that there were no shortage of volunteers to try and bring in the traitorous saiyan.

He had well over a hundred low-level soldiers, maybe a dozen mid-level, and he had Cui with him to help keep Vegeta down.

It was gonna be a slaughter.

OoOoO

Yamcha was frowning deeply as he touched down, making his way over to the other members of the Turtle School. "Goku, Krillin, Chichi," he nodded in greeting, turning to gesture at the two new faces. "Good to see you too, Raditz. How're Launch and Roshi doing?"

"Enough babbling!" Vegeta snapped, before the long-haired saiyan could reply. "Raditz, you are going to tell me what you know about our planet, and then explain why you wasted a year on this worthless mudball, now."

The saiyan being addressed flinched, taking a deep breath before replying. "My mother left a message with Kakarot's pod. My father apparently found out that Freeza was planning on destroying Planet Vegeta, but no-one believed it. Mother sent Kakarot off in an attack pod anyway, and given what happened just a couple of hours later... Father was telling the truth. Freeza turned on us, wiped out the saiyan race. That's what the message was about." He paused for a moment, his brother clapping his back in a friendly gesture.

"Bastard." Vegeta growled. "I should have guessed. He was always so damned smug."

Raditz nodded, allowing a little smirk as he prepared his next answer. "As to the other part of your... demand, why I spent a whole year here, check your scouters."

Nappa obliged, tapping the device as Raditz took a stance. "Eighteen hundred? So you haven't wasted the time here, I suppose, but hardly worth wasting our time over-" he halted, as the number shifted. "What the damned hell?"

Raditz roared, allowing his purple-and-white aura to flare around him. He settled at what he knew to be his new maximum, a level he could fight at for as long as he'd need to.

Nappa blinked dumbly. "F-Five th-thousand?" he gaped, as the number settled just over 5'400.

The long-haired saiyan smirked widely at Nappa, before turning back to the prince with a more solemn expression. "That's why. Maybe the average power level on this 'mudball' is small, but they've found methods to maximise their power. Maybe if we all spend a few years in training, we can take on Freeza before he gets wind of our plans. I know that these three are more powerful than I am... not sure about Kakarot's mate, though-" he snapped his jaw shut, Vegeta rounding on Chichi and Kakarot.

"So. Raditz' long-lost baby brother," he drawled, sneering at the married couple. "Seems you went native, then. Abandoned your pride, lost your tail, and lowered yourself to consort with these weaklings? I suppose as a third-class fighter, you didn't have far to go to reach their level."

Goku glared back. Despite everything Krillin and Yamcha said, it was hard to imagine the man in front of him ever becoming an ally. He released some of his power, letting it leak out and throw Nappa for another loop. "Don't talk about my friends like that. Don't talk about my wife like that." he retorted, a little bit of heat lacing his words.

Chichi stepped forwards, straight-backed next to her husband. She was dressed for battle, wearing a fitted cuirass over her qipao, her bladed helmet, and armoured boots. "I am Princess Chichi of the Ox Kingdom, one of the oldest monarchies on this planet. My husband is the greatest warrior on Earth and you will respect him."

Vegeta chuckled darkly, reading their power levels. "So, you think you're a great warrior, Kakarot? If that's the case..." he trailed off. "Prove it, and I'll listen to whatever inane idea you have for taking on Freeza."

"So, you want me to fight you?" Goku asked, dubiously. Granted, he could tell that Vegeta had some impressive strength, more than Goku's base form, but any use of the Kaioken would completely eclipse that.

"No. I think you'd be better served facing Nappa. It's really a shame you abandoned your tail, Kakarot," Vegeta smirked, his power dimming as he threw a brilliant white orb overhead. "But from what your mate has said, surely this won't even be an issue for you." He continued with a sarcastic drawl, as the orb burst open in mid-air, forming a large, pale sphere that was eerily familiar.

Krillin's jaw dropped as he recognised the attack, as the three tailed saiyans tensed instintively, their breaths coming in ragged pants. "No way..." he gasped out, quickly throwing a yellow lance of ki, which seemed to simply phase through the artifical moon-sphere.

"Let's see if you're even worth my respect, Kakarot! If not, I'll just have to crush you and your precious Earthlings under my boots!" Vegeta cackled madly, his armour bulging as he, Nappa, and Raditz rapidly grew to massive sizes.

"Son of a bitch," Yamcha hissed, drawing his blade as the four Z-fighters took up defensive stances. "Should've guessed he'd try and kill us all anyway."

"Doesn't matter," Goku replied, red wisps blending into his white aura. "We can do this."

"Always the optimist, Goku..." Krillin laughed. "Let's go!"

As the three enormous apes roared, Earth's warriors leapt into battle.

...

So, we're on to the attack of the saiyans, with the enemy forces a tad more powerful than in canon. As for the rest of the Z-fighters, don't worry, they're going to pick up on what's happening.
