Chapter 45

This cool attitude from Fox persisted all weekend. Monday morning came and for once, Fox was ready for school. He got up and quickly brushed his fur and looked into his closet pondering on what to wear to school today. He looked at a white T shirt, his leather jacket, some dark leans and his chuck taylor's and tried them on. He looked in the mirror and had only one thought invade his mind 'Let's go to school'.

He walked out and held up his arms horizontally, "What do you think?" His parents looked up and weren't surprised. "I think you're enjoying that jacket way too much, if you want my honest opinion." His dad told him as his wife laughed along. Fox just rolled his eyes at his dad's joke and sat down beside him for a short breakfast. "You're probably right, but man does it feel good." He crunched his toast as he said it.

"I sure don't know what it is but I definitely feel good. I feel like I can do anything." His parents both smiled, "Fox honey I'm so glad you feel good today. I hope you have a good day today." His mom smiled at him as he polished his toast and put his plate in the dishwasher . "Thanks mom, love you guys! See you later!" He yelled as he grabbed his shades and ran out the door. The top was up on his convertible but he rolled his windows down and turned his music up, not too loud but just enough. He rolled through the roads on down to his school and pulled into his usual parking spot up in front of the sidewalk right in front of the school.

He reached through the window and put his books on top of the convertible and stood up to put on his jacket. He looked over at the group of girls standing on the opposite side of his car and did the same 'sup' sign language from the other day as he put on his jacket. He got that same reaction as Saturday, "Ooh" he heard it this time. Slung his door shut and used the remote to lock it like the cool guy he felt like. He strutted to the front entrance where his friends normally were as he turned plenty of heads with his new strut, shades, and outfit style. "Is that Fox?" He heard from a small group of girls, and he turned his head to face the vixens as he heard them, they only turned their heads afraid to be found out.

He just grinned underneath his shades as he kept walking. He turned his head over to Wolf who was standing by himself, gave him his trademark 'sup' as he walked by. Wolf only grinned and rolled his eyes to himself.

Fox was never considered popular, sure lots of people knew him and he was found attractive, but never in that popular circle. He could see by the door that there was a group of girls that were trying not to look and whisper to themselves, he knew they were talking about him. He walked up to the door and opened it, "Hey girls, how's it going?" He asked before he went in, they had no idea what they could say back because they were so embarrassed .

"Did he just say something to me?" The dark brown vixen asked. "No! He was totally talking to me!" The beagle girl argued. "You're both wrong! He was totally smiling at me!" The last artic vixen said. The three girls argued at each other as Fox just laughed to himself.

He passed one of the teachers as he headed up the stairs to meet his friends, she was a younger teacher, about thirty years of age, younger than most teachers at the school. "Good morning Fox, you look quite dapper this morning." He smiled at the compliment, "Thank you Mrs. Snow." He said as he walked on by. He went up the staircase, then spun around vigorously for the next staircase. He jogged up the stairs to see his friends leaned against their lockers.

All eyes turned over to him as he slowly smiled, walked towards them, and slowly took off his shades. "Not this again…" Falco whispered as a joke. "What?" Katt asked him. "He had all this going on Saturday, this cool guy stuff. Looks like it's working for him though." He told his girlfriend. "Hey guys, hey girls." He greeted them all. "Hey Fox! You're looking nice today." Lucy said to him with vigor, it had been a while since she had really seen him. "Thanks Lucy, I try my best." He smiled at her and she smiled back.

"So does anyone know where Krystal is? It's been a while since we saw her now that I think." Amanda asked no one in particular. "Fox? Have you seen Krystal?" Fox just finished resting his sunglasses on his head. "Who? Oh right, Krystal. Nope, didn't see her on my way in today. Saw her Friday but haven't heard from her since." He said nonchalantly and carefree.

"Oh, well that's weird. I always thought you guys talked a lot. " the pink frog said in return. Fox just shrugged his shoulders. "Nah, don't really keep up with her much any more but eh whatever." The girls would have to get used to this new, laid back Fox, but the guys already had time to get used to it. "Haven't really seen her much outside of Friday anyways now that I think about it.

" 'So maybe he does care.' Lucy thought to herself. The bell rang and everyone headed to their classes.

Fox went and took his seat in class and was greeted by a girl that he'd never talked to but sat beside him. "You know, I'd vote you for best dressed." She said to him sweetly. "Thanks, I'd vote for me too." He said back as a joke. She must not have gotten the joke because she clearly didn't look too happy. 'Whoops, messed that one up I guess' He thought to himself.

He went to the rest of his classes and someone was noticeably absent. Fox sat down at the lunch table with everyone else. "Have you guys seen Krystal? She's not usually sick." Lucy said to everyone. No one knew, no one had seen or heard from her since the incident that past Friday. "She'll be fine, she'll turn up sometime." Fox nonchalantly blurted while chewing his banana.

"How do you know?" Katt asked him. He shrugged his shoulders again. "I don't I just think that." He said as he turned his attention back to his lunch.

He was looking in his locker switching out books for his next class. He shut his locker and walked on down the hall with his shades resting on top of his head. "Hey Fox" He heard coming from his right before he turned. "Oh, hi there." He said back to the girl, he had no idea who the girl was. 'Weird, put on some new clothes and you become a stranger magnet.' He thought to himself as he walked down the hall.

The day came to an abrupt end, Fox stood outside and talked to his friends for about half an hour, minus one friend. 'Wonder if the events of this past weekend got to her any, one way to find out.' He strutted on down the sidewalk when he heard a semi familiar voice from a car that was parked just in front of it.

"Oh, hey there Mrs. Diane. Didn't see you there." It was Krystal's mom, someone he hadn't seen in a while.

"I didn't recognize you at first, it's been so long since I've seen you and you're dressed so differently. It's a nice look for you." He just laughed a bit to himself, "Lots of people seem to think so, I like it too so what the heck? Why not?" They both just laughed at the jokes.

"Well I'm sure you have things to do so you go on and maybe I'll see you sometime later.' She waved goodbye as the vulpine smiled under his sunglasses and walked off.

From around the corner, secluded from everyone else there was a voice that was heard.

"Is that Fox? Talking to my mom? He looks so different, and he was so nice just now. That's so weird, he's never stopped and talked to them before. Why does he seem so….different?"

Kinda just a fluff chapter that may not have a lot of meaning. So the point sorta of this chapter is to shift Krystal out of the main focus, She's been basically the apple of everyon'e eye since the beginning and I think that's a small problem I've made. So she wasn't sick, she was just hiding, from who or what? I actually don't know, I just feel like she shouldn't get a whole bunch of attention since most the whole fic has been about her. Hopefully the next chapter will be a bit better, this was mainly to shift focus around. Hope you guys enjoyed :D
