Chapter 49

When it's right, you'll know it

*Hey guys, sorry for the wait, I haven't been the best at updating this. I actually took some time off and wrote quite a few one shots, and now, having since read spoilers for the season premiere, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. There will be no spoilers in this story what so ever from this point out, don't worry, but nonetheless I can't wait. I hope you guys like this chapter, thank you to each and every reader still out there, I love you all.

Previously…

"I'll try." Sheldon couldn't help but notice how much Amy's was yawning, so he took the mug away from her hands and set it on the table. Without the mug her hands instantly felt the cold, although they were still really warm from her beverage.

Surprisingly, Sheldon took her hands in his and managed to keep them warm. She looked up at him then and her lips were met with a gentle kiss from him. Cuddling with Sheldon before bed was always the best sleep aid, and soon the two forgot about their tea and headed off to bed for a good night's sleep.

Currently…

The next morning Sheldon woke up first and rolled over only to see Amy's back to his. Although he always enjoyed waking up holding her, this morning he didn't mind because at least now he could get up without waking her.

The sunlight from the window was gently pooling into the bedroom as Sheldon sat up in bed and gazed thoughtfully at Amy's back. Her hair was tangled and snarly, and he briefly pictured her waking up with a yawn and running her hands through her disheveled locks. While he wished he could wake her, he also knew she needed her sleep.

Getting up, Sheldon made his way into the kitchen in just his undershirt and boxers. When he had undressed last night, he couldn't recall, but he didn't mind this morning, as it was a little warmer than usual in the apartment. The temperature didn't seem to bother him however; he had other things on his mind.

Amy told him last night of her plans on getting the wedding dress. He knew they were long from fully developed, and he hoped the girls could help her. Still, he couldn't help but think maybe they would need a little heads up of her situation. Maybe if he told Penny, she'd be more prepared…

While Sheldon was staring at the door in contemplation, he could feel a presence standing behind him and he turned his body around to see Amy's arms in the air as she stretched; her eyes closing briefly as she yawned gently. Smiling, Sheldon walked over to her and took her by the waist; pulling her closer to him.

"Good morning," he told her softly, gazing into her eyes as she wiped the sleep away from them.

"What were you doing up?" she mumbled in response, giving him a small smile. He glanced away nervously at her question, and she heard him swallow. His Adam's apple bobbed up and down in the silence.

"I was just…. Wondering if I should go talk to Penny…" He wasn't sure why he was so flustered, it didn't make sense. Still, his eyes searched hers in an attempt to avoid the subject all together, even if he knew it was silly and pointless.

Amy let a quiet chuckle escape her lips before brushing them to Sheldon's cheek. Upon the contact, he instantly relaxed and was surprised to see Amy pull away and scoff at him.

"You were going to see Penny this early in the morning?" Sheldon blushed at her inquiry and Amy smiled a bit. "Look," pulling a little closer, she slid her hand in his and kept her eyes on it. "If you really think getting the dress will take this much time…" letting his hand go, she took a step back and looked him in the eye with a quiet sigh. "Then I suppose we can start looking today."

Sheldon paused, not sure how she read his mind so easily but nodded anyway and reached for her hand. "Thank you." He said softly, admiring her fingers as if they were the most important thing he had ever seen. He immediately dropped her hand when he heard her yawn again.

"If you think," Amy began in mid yawn. "I'm starting the day right now, you're wrong." Sheldon looked back at her in a puzzled way and let her finish her yawn. She was so cute when she was tired.

"I'm going back to bed, you just be you and do whatever." Amy mumbled as a tear slid down her face from yawning so much. She instantly rubbed it away with a single singer and trudged her way back to their bedroom before shutting the door gently. Once again, Sheldon was left alone in the kitchen.

'If Amy's going dress hunting today… I suppose I will need to look for a tux as well.' He thought to himself, staring off into the distance. He debated on calling Leonard, but knew he wouldn't be up at such an insane hour.

He didn't even feel like going shopping for clothes right now, and why should he? He wanted to do something though, but what, he didn't know.

In the end, Sheldon decided to sit back in his spot with a good book and catch up on some of his reading. Maybe then it would help him pass the time without Amy, and at least he'd get some things done.

One, two, three, four hours ticked by, the room seemed to be holding it's breath in an attempt not to wake Sheldon up. It was as if the air around him seemed to stop, but he couldn't feel it in his state of slumber. Nothing seemed real, even. All he knew was that he was having a difficult time breathing.

A few feet from him Amy stood silently with a small grin on her face as she shook her head slowly. Sheldon could really be an adorable idiot sometimes.

Sheldon jolted from his sleep when he felt something being lifted off his face, and opened his eyes quickly to find Amy hovering over him; her book in his hand.

"Morning sleepy, how'd it feel sleeping with that book on your face?" she chuckled, setting the book aside and making her way to the kitchen. Sheldon remained seated on the couch for a moment, staring at his book as his mind seemingly blanked.

"I really fell asleep?" He asked, looking across the room to Amy who was now getting ready to prepare some food for the two of them. Without looking up from her task, she replied in a monotone that he had.

Standing up, Sheldon wandered over to the kitchen slowly. He was waiting in anticipation for the smells that always clouded his senses whenever Amy cooked. Besides Meemaw, Amy was the best cook he knew.

"What are you making?" attempting to look over her shoulder, Sheldon saw that she was scanning her phone, the supplies for food scattered around her on the counter.

"It's a surprise…" Amy told him before shutting her phone off and putting it in her pocket. "Actually, I was going to attempt to make my own version of Chinese food, but I am not sure I will have time now. Penny just texted me and I guess the dress shopping starts sooner than I expected…"

Sheldon's tongue darted out momentarily to lick his lips at the mention of food. He hadn't realized how hungry he was until now, but he was more interested in Amy's plans for the day. For the time being, food would have to wait.

"What if I ordered pizza or something and we ate together before you left?" he suggested with a shrug, and smiled once Amy agreed. While he was off ordering the pizza, Amy put all the cooking supplies back and took a quick shower.

By the time she was all ready, the pizza had been ordered and was sitting on their counter waiting to be eaten. Amy had taken longer than anticipated on getting ready, and only had time to grab a slice on her way out. The smells begged her to stay and eat more but she couldn't afford to waist anymore time.

"You're leaving already…?" Sheldon sounded disappointed, and Amy paused for a moment while chewing. It wasn't her fault Penny was busy the rest of the day and possibly the rest of the week. Although she felt bad for not staying with Sheldon, she had things that had to be done after all.

"I have too, but I promise I'll be back before you know it, and we can spend the whole night together." With her assurance Sheldon beamed and walked over to her. Pulling her into a kiss while she had food in her hand was different, but he managed it and quickly lost himself in the softness of her lips against his.

The two were interrupted by Penny opening the door to see them kissing. She wasn't sure what to do, so she looked away with a little heat to her face and cleared her throat. "Ready to go, Ames?"

"Ready." Amy said firmly without taking her eyes off of Sheldon. She gave him one final smile before pulling away and taking another bite of her pizza. A swift turn and she was out the door before Sheldon even had a chance to get his breath back.

"So I've heard that when you find the right dress, you just know it." Amy said tiredly as she walked alongside Penny in the closest store they could find. It was a little chilly and Amy wasn't sure if she should feel bad about wanting to be back in Sheldon's arms.

"I've heard that too, but I don't know. Bernadette might know." Penny replied with her eyes darting from rack to rack of the large store. They had been in there for almost two hours and found nothing so far.

"But what if I can't find the right one..?" Amy fretted, a worried look on her face. Penny glanced back at her momentarily with a scoff before returning her attention to the racks.

"What? No, sweetie, I'm sure you'll find it. Just give it time, I don't know. Why are you worrying about this now anyway? You guys have, what, like two months or something to get the right dress? Don't tell me Sheldon was worried you wouldn't find one."

When Amy was quiet, Penny stared at her in shock and shook her head slightly.

"The man's an idiot but I'll forgive him because he's marrying you. Don't worry, we'll find a dress if it's the last thing we do."

Amy smiled at her and joined in on searching the racks for anything that looked at all appealing. It didn't take long before Penny spotted something and gasped. Amy looked over to see her friend running across the store and ripping a strapless top off a rack.

"I thought we were looking for a dress." Amy said with a small frown and Penny looked at the shirt she was holding with longing.

"Well, that doesn't mean we can't look around for other things too…" Nodding, Amy agreed and the two women began scowering the store for anything they could get their hands on. Dress shopping was better than either of them had expected.

#

"In hindsight," Penny said with a sigh as she loaded several bags into the trunk of her car. "Maybe we should have gone to an actual dress shop instead of a discount store to look for a wedding dress."

Standing behind her, Amy sighed while holding several bags herself. "Gee, you don't think."

"Look, Ames," Penny told her, taking the bags and stuffing them in the back seat. "If you want, I can help you look tomorrow morning, I'd just have to get up a little earlier…"

"It's okay," Amy reassured her. "I'll see if Bernadette wants to come. If we still haven't found anything, then maybe during girls' night we can have another go at it."

Penny tiredly agreed and the two began their journey back to the apartment building in a light chatter that Amy adored so much. Having friends was a wonderful thing indeed.

"See you later, Bestie!" Amy said happily once they landed on the fourth floor. Today had been a good day, and Amy was in good spirits. She unlocked the door without a thought in her mind and was met with a pitch black room when she walked in the apartment.

"Sheldon…" Amy called, turning on the light. She jumped back and shrieked when, right in the middle of the room, she found Sheldon standing there with a smile on his face in a fancy tux.

Dropping all her bags, Amy clutched her chest and tried to catch her breath while glaring playfully at Sheldon, who was still smiling away. She guessed he was trying to hold in his laughter.

"That was so… not cool." Amy sighed as she looked at the floor. Her bags that she dropped had spilled their contents, and now clothes of all colors were scattered all over.

"Look what I got." Sheldon said, practically bouncing up and down. Amy took a moment to admire his body in the tux before subconsciously licking her lips and moving a little closer to him.

"I like it, but do me a favor and don't wear it again until the wedding. We wouldn't want it getting dirty…" she trailed off, seemingly forgetting her purchases lying on the ground.

"If you don't want it getting dirty, I could just… take it off…" Sheldon said quietly with a smirk, winking at Amy in a way that made her knees go weak and her heart skip a beat.

"I'd like that." She breathed, and needless to say, the clothes Amy had dropped never did get picked up until the next morning.

*a/n was this okay? I wanted to move this story along, but keep the fluffy stuff in because I love Shamy so much and I miss them dearly. Again, sorry for the wait, next chapter is in the works xxx.
