(**Author note: "holy flapping duckshit i have not been on here in forever! but tonight i found my story on the laptop, and i thought you know what. why the fuck not. back into the void once more.**)
Logan woke up on the floor of the studio. The rest of the boys were strewn about the studio floor snoring. She sat up trying to stifle yawns. Her arm was asleep from her head using it as a pillow and she was in desperate need of coffee. She pulled up onto her bare feet and stumbled off to find the studio's kitchen.
"God Morgon" she heard a half assed sleepy swedish greeting from behind her as she was inhaling the warm drink.
"Hey Emil" she turned to him and nearly snorted into her coffee. Evidently sleeping on the floor gave Emil terrible bed hair. He literally just plonked himself into a chair at the little round table and dropped his head onto the surface resounding in a loud hollow sounding noise. Logan snorted.
The others could be heard waking and complaining. She put the ipad and coffee down and went to investigate. Emil sat there in the quiet kitchen. Until the screen on the ipad lit up with a email notification. He glanced at the screen notice and his breath caught when he saw the sender. It was Jeff. Emil's curiosity though was winning. He tapped the notice and it opened up into her inbox and brought the email up. Emil stared at the email. At the painting he'd sent. At the words underneath explaining the things he'd been doing. He was trying to win her back. A lump formed in Emil's throat. And the devil on his shoulder won. She'd been close to him this week, relying on him, leaning on him. And he liked being there for her. Emil hesitated briefly and then hit the delete button. Emil wasnt about to let her be sucked in and hurt again.
Jeff had checked his email periodically since he sent it. Part of him had hoped she mightve replied. Mostly he just hoped she'd seen it and not dismissed it. For two days they had been running an ad during the WWE's on air time. Flashes of his face in make up. And then the words 'Extreme has returned' followed by the date and the place, Los Angeles. He hoped to find her, show her.
Back in the studio, Jade and Ben had been lazily reading random things on the internet. They'd even kept track of their friends in the WWE. Their eyes widening at the mysterious ad flashing on the site's front page.
"No way..."
"She's gonna flip her shit".
"She might not".
"Well we're not saying shit. She's calm and somewhat together. If she sees it and does something fine. But we are shutting up."
"Has he contacted.."
"Not that im aware of."
The boys stared at each other.
Jeff landed in L.A. It was the day before the show and he checked into the four seasons. He looked at the city from his balcony. The sprawling concrete as far as he could see. She was here somewhere. He hoped she had seen the signs. She could be anywhere, he thought to himself. He had called in to her label's studios. But the receptionist was not forthcoming about whether she had been there or not. But he knew that after three weeks in L.a., she wouldve been there a lot.
Logan was scribbling lyrics while eating with the guys in her hotel room. And thats when she heard it over the tv in the background. A WWE ad for a RAW show the following day. She steeled herself and put her attention back into her notepad and noodles. Emil, Jade, and Ben grew eerily quiet and shared glances while Burton and Mikko had been chatting loudly from the kitchenette. She could feel them staring.
"Not my circus, not my monkeys."
"Theres a implied possibility that he..."
"And he still hasn't tried to contact me. I think that says it all." She interrupted quickly. "Actions speak louder every time." Logan gathered her things and her food and stomped off into her hotel bedroom and kick slammed the door closed.
"She took that.. reasonably" Ben offered.
Jade slapped his only slightly younger brother around the back of the head, who scowled. Emil snorted into his chow mein. He then turned his attention to her now closed door. At her words, he had felt the slightest pang of guilt. He was protecting her wasnt he?
Logan sat on the bed. Using her laptop she opened up the WWE site in a fresh tab. The vague ad played. It was pretty clear he was returning to the ring. But what about her? He had his shit together to work, to start re intergrating into the WWE, but no contact for her? No call, no email, no message whatsoever. Her heart thumped in her chest. A gut wrenching wave of redundancy washed over her. At a light knock on her door she quickly wiped her face.
Emil came in, closing the door behind him. He sat next to the silent and visibly upset woman. He was torn between comforting her and possibly making her severely unhinged at him.
"Logan, listen,.."
"You're heading back to sweden on tuesday right?"
"Uh yeah, we have Swedenrock to play and then Provinssirock over in finland. Why?"
"I think Im going to come with. I think I just need a break elsewhere."
"Sure. Anytime. You know the boys will have you along with us anytime."
Emil's previous thought train was forgotten and pushed his guilty conscience aside. She took his hand and rested her head on his shoulder. She needed him and that was all he cared about for now.
Jeff checked into the hotel. He mentally made a list of hotels he knew she was familiar with. As far as Daryl and Jackson knew she and the boys were still here in L.A. WWE posters were all over the city. He was sure she would've seen them by now. It pained him that she hadnt responded to the mail he'd sent her. Maybe she was as afraid as him. And he was. He was never more afraid then he was right now. Not even Brennan made him this afraid. Because this whole thing was teetering on the edge of a blade. Without action, he would lose her. And that terrified him more than anything on this earth.
He narrowed it down to three places. He knew the names she checked in with. To whatever deity is listening, dont let me be too late. He prayed silently to the air. He only had tonight and tomorrow spare to find her. Jeff kissed her rings that still hung around his neck.
Logan tapped her foot on the floor as she sat at her laptop looking at flights for in two days time. Maybe the motherland would provide some clarity. She had told Jade and Ben of her plans. They had side glanced each other cautiously but had agreed to go along. She knew what they were thinking. Jeff was here in L.A. possibly, and that she should be finding him. But she was resolute in her feelings. She was hurt, angry, and stubborn. And convinced he had not attempted to contact her. The boys werent nearly stupid enough to argue with her. But under the table they were furiously texting Daryl and Jackson and Matt.
As they did so, Logan had found seats on the same flight as Emil. Tuesday 11am, Los Angeles LAX to Stockholm Arlanda. Done. She confirmed the email itinerary and closed the laptop. Two days, and Sweden bound. Jade texted everything to Matt.
'Machew. We're making tracks. Jeff has very little time if he's here in LA'
'What do you mean?'
'We leave for Sweden on tuesday. Jeff has got til 11am tuesday'
'Where are you now? He's looking for her!'
'The Four seasons'.
Jeff's mobile blared out Matt's ringtone. His light eyes widened when he read the message.
'She's running to Sweden. Leaving tues 11am. Theyre at the Four Seasons.'
Jeff exhaled hard and grabbed his coat. There was no time to lose.
