A/N: I know I've been trying to keep this completely cannon, but I do want to pretend that the conversation about girls that Sokka and Zuko had on the war balloon didn't take place because in my world they already know this stuff and are together. This takes place right after Sokka and Zuko talk about staying to look for Sokka's father. Just a continuation of the scene.
It was cold in the cooler; the name was no lie, and Sokka began shaking uncontrollably when he sat inside, hiding from the guards with Zuko. Zuko took the warrior in his arms, and Sokka was surprised by the gesuted, but he leaned into the Firebender's hold. "So…Suki?" Zuko whispered.
"What about her?"
"You were um…pretty excited to see her…"
Sokka turned to look at Zuko. "Are you jealous?"
"No! I'm not jealous! I'm just saying…"
"Aren't you the one who told me that we had to do everything we could to keep people from finding out about us?"
"Yeah, about that…I didn't know that you'd be finding Suki…"
Sokka kissed Zuko with icy cold lips. "It's okay, Zuko." He shifted to pull himself closer to Zuko, the bulky prison armor making it hard to get comfortable. "You're really warm."
"I am a Firebender."
Rolling his eyes, Sokka jabbed him. "I mean considering that we're in a freezer, you're still really warm."
Zuko nodded. "Breath of fire. Comes in handy at times like this."
Sokka shivered harder, leaning his ear against the door to see if the guards were gone. The hallway was silent. "I better be going," he said, looking at Zuko.
Zuko reached out and gripped his hand. "But, Suki…"
"When we get back to camp, I'll work it out with her. It won't be easy but…I'll break up with her."
"What about the others?"
"What about them?"
"What will they say?"
"I…I don't know. Maybe we can pretend to still be together…she'll have to understand…"
"And I'll have to watch you two pretend to be together?"
Sokka felt his stomach knot. There were too many choices to make. "I…Zuko I don't know!" he exclaimed, tears beginning to water in his eyes. "I don't know what to do anymore!"
Zuko grabbed him into a hug, and Sokka leaned his head against the Firebender's shoulder. "It's okay, Sokka. It's all going to work out. I'm sorry I gave you such a hard time. We need to focus on getting out of here. Come on," Zuko said quietly, extending a hand to help Sokka up. Sokka took it, and both boys stood.
Wiping his eyes, Sokka composed himself. "Let's get you back to your cell."
