A/N: Fact four: Part of the planning in the arcs was me listening to opening songs and ending song over and over again and visualizing what was going on in each of them. Great example is the Mystic Circus arc.

Chapter Fifty Two: Surprise Party

(Display your power to those who are faithful)

With night fallen on top of the city, it mostly peaceful. Along the way to the harbor where is, several people were standing where there were large shipping containers were placed upon with a large crane over them. One of them, young male yawned out of boredom. "Mind telling me what we're doing?" His friend Tsuchimikado didn't answer as well as Stiyl and Kanzaki. Touma groaned at their silence.

His other friend Index was as usual, in high spirits. "Be patient Touma. They'll tell us when they'll ready."

The level zero scoffed at what she said. "Yeah right and why are you here with me?"

Index huffed as she turned away from him. "If you think I'm going to miss out on something again, then you're dead wrong."

Stiyl took out a cigarette and lit it up. With one smoke, he blew out smoke. "Might as tell him. He has the right to know."

Touma raised an eyebrow. "Know what?"

Tsuchimikado grinned and looked at his friend. "Well to be blunt, we're here to meet someone important."

"Who? Is it from the church?" The level zero asked.

To his surprised, Tsuchimikado shook his head. "This person isn't from the church. In fact I doubt he goes to church at all."

"Mind telling me the point already?" Touma hated his friend beating around the bush. The blonde pulled out a card from his pocket and showed it to Touma. He looked confused. "What's with the card?" Tsuchimikado threw the card at Touma and he caught the card it. Touma looked at the card. "Devil May Cry?"

Index also looked at the card. "I don't get it. How do you make a devil cry?"

"You know what happened in the past few weeks as well what happened in the last few days right Kami-yan?" Tsuchimikado asked.

Touma nodded at the question. "Yeah. A bunch of murders, that event with the street, and how Tokiwadai was completely destroyed." That last part made him worry the most. Touma may not like Misaka but he worried about when he heard about her school's destruction. "So what does this card have to do with them?"

The blonde adjusted his sunglasses. "I'm not going to lie to you Kami-yan. What we're dealing with may be more dangerous than your run of the mill magician and sorcerer. We're dealing with demons."

Touma had a skeptical look on his face. "Wait demons? Seriously? Come on! Sure I'll admit that there's magic but demons may be going a bit too far there if you ask me."

"What he said is true Kamijou." Kanzaki spoke. "Tsuchimikado and I saw one a few days ago."

"Seriously?!" Now Touma had no choice but to believe.

The saint nodded. "The demon was close to taking a life. Fortunately we arrived before it had the chance however it escaped with hostage in its grasp."

"Who was the demon attacking?" Touma had a bad feeling about the answer he wanted to hear.

"You're not going to like the answer Kami-yan. It was the Railgun herself." Tsuchimikado answered.

"What!?" Like he thought, he didn't like the answer. "Why would a demon attack Misaka?!" another thought came to his mind. The hostage Kanzaki mentioned before must've been her friend Shirai. That would also explain why Misaka was in the hospital a few days ago when he came to see her.

"We don't know all the details but we do know this." Stiyl threw away his cigarette. "You know how city is the epicenter of science and magic. If a third group is thrown in, then we don't know what's going to happen so they're a major threat."

"Ok that's really bad but what does this card have to do with demons that are showing up in the city?" Touma asked as he pointed to the card.

"Oh that?" The blonde spoke. "We found that card with the Railgun while she was unconscious. As for why we don't know. I made a call on that number and asked the guy to come meet us here at the harbor. We think he has something to do with all of this demon business that's been going on."

"And I'm here in case something goes down right?" Touma asked.

"Pretty much. Imagine Breaker should be able to handle demons as well as magic." The blonde replied.

That didn't bring Touma any comfort. Come to think of it, he hasn't seen Misaka ever since his visit to her at the hospital. There also the fact that her friend could still be missing. Whoever gave Misaka the card was also the one who dragged her into the whole mess.

He sighed. "What rotten luck."

Unbeknownst to the small group, they were being watched by another group through a pair of binoculars. "So this is the group we're supposed to beat. If you ask me, they don't look that tough." Hayate pointed out as he set the binoculars down.

"Let me see." The woman of the group asked.

Hayate handed her the binoculars. She put them up to her eyes and saw through them. "Boring, boring, boring, a kid nun, and...Ooh I see something I like very much." She smirked. The other two males groaned when they heard that. Hayate saw this coming as soon he saw the woman. "That's a very nice body she has. Not only that, it doesn't look like she's wearing a bra." The woman licked her lips. "I guess I was wrong about church women. I would like to pray with her if you know what I mean."

The other male took away the binoculars. "We get it Kureha. You're a lesbian and your preference is chicks with big tits."

Kureha huffed. "I thought men liked the idea of two beautiful women of being in bed."

"We do but you always state to the obvious sometimes. Kinda kills the whole mood." Hayate explained.

"Speaking of obvious, where's the old man? He's supposed to be with us right?" The other teen said.

"You know him Taka. He doesn't want be with us 'troubled youths.' That guy should let go of the past already."

Takahashi rolled his eyes. "Guess it's just the three of us then. What do you say we have a little fun with them?"

"The woman is mine Hayate!" Kureha shouted.

"We know that. I mean give them a little test drive." Hayate explained. "Let's see how tough these church people really are." He snapped his fingers.

Meanwhile back to Touma's group, he sighed as he was bored. "How long is this Devil May Cry going to make us wait?

"Touma I'm hungry." Index stated.

"We just ate like an hour ago!" He heard something loud crash behind him. Touma looked behind to see a large creature unlike he's ever seen before. The creature was on all fours with sharp claws, a light grey color along with sharp teeth. It gave a low growl and then suddenly bellowed loudly. Naturally Touma and Index screamed as they tried to get away from the demon. The appearance brought the attention to the others. "Is that the demon you talked about!?"

"Nope. Far from it." Tsuchimikado answered.

They all heard many more thuds around them. Countless more of the same demon fell around them. The roars of the demons could be heard throughout the night air. Soon they were all surrounded by demons. Kanzaki drew her sword while Stiyl summoned a fire ball in his hand. "It seems we'll be busy for a while." One of the demons leapt at the fire magician. "Wrong choice." Stiyl sent a wave of flames at it. The flames engulfed the demon and burned thoroughly. However when one fell, several more appeared in its place.

Kanzaki had a similar problem. Five of the demons jumped at her but they were made quick work by her sword play as she cut them all down. Their bodies were split apart with their blood coming out of them. Five more appeared before her. She wasn't amused by this. "This may become a problem."

Touma wasn't as lucky as one the demons approached him. Drool was coming out of its mouth. Index cowering behind him. "Well go on Touma! Punch that thing! It could be a magical familiar."

"You're kidding right?" The idea of punching a demon was insane to him.

"Well it worked so far right?!" Index had that look in her that Touma didn't like.

The level zero gulped as he took in a deep breath. "Well here goes!" He rushed toward the demon as his right hand clenched tightly. He punched the head of the demon straight on with all of strength he gave. Index expected the usual whenever Touma's right hand came into contact with anything magical or supernatural. However this time nothing happened. Pain started to spread throughout Touma's arm. He screamed in pain as he retracted his arm and held it. "Ok that thing is definitely the real deal right there!"

This time Touma thought his luck had run out. It was the last mistake he could ever make in his life. The demon lunged itself at him. Before it could tear Touma apart, a storm of bullets hit the demon. Blood gushed out from its wounds and it died instantly. As soon as the corpse hit the floor, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked to where that attack came from. They saw a figure approaching them. They soon had a clear view of him. "Sorry I'm late but now that I'm here, let's get this party started!"

Touma and Index instantly recognized the man. "He's the guy we saw at the hospital before."

One thing they all didn't expect to see was one of the demons howl. The others soon followed its example. They all left the prey they were hunting before and all of them focus their attention to Dante. They quickly surrounded him. All of them were confused by this action. "I don't get. They were attacking us and now they're surrounding him?" Index wondered.

"It's animal instinct." Touma spoke. "They consider him the bigger threat."

"You got that right." Tsuchimikado appeared beside them.

Again from far away, Hayate whistled at what he saw. "We got a new challenger people."

"Let me see!" Takashi peered through one of the binoculars. "Who's the new guy?"

"I'm guessing that's the devil hunter we heard so much about. Now we'll see why the Mistress considers him such a threat."

While the two boys were focusing through the binoculars, Kureha made a phone call. "It's me…"

Back to Dante, he laughed at the situation he was in. All the demons surrounding him were quietly growling at him. The church members and Touma were all staring at the sight. Having all the demons focused on one man was unheard of. Now the next question was what was going to happen next. All of sudden, all the demons jumped toward Dante with the intention of killing. For the devil hunter, time just stood still. He smiled as he brought out Ebony and Ivory. "Let's rock." The next thing that happened was that a storm of bullets hit every demon up front. Each shot left a gaping hole in the demon and few more rounds to kill it. Dante focused his attention on shooting the demons on different sides. None of the demons were even close to touching him.

Dante shot one of the demons in the shoulder and fell to ground. It was still alive but not for long as he approached it and stomped on its head while shooting the rest of its body. Once he was done shooting, he kicked it to the other demons. One of the other demons tried to attack from behind but it received the other end of the devil hunter's gun. Dante had an idea. He jumped on the demons corpse and pushed off like he was riding a skateboard. He spun around while shooting the demons that were around him while he sounded like he was having the time of his life. If that wasn't enough, in classic Dante style he made the corpse jump like a skateboard and was now gliding on the side of a shipping container. As he was doing this, the church group and Touma couldn't believe what they were seeing. They also saw more of the demons coming at him but they were shot dead on like the rest. Dante jumped off the side and the corpse he was on and he was in the air.

The rest of the demons jumped into the air well to reach him. The devil hunter quietly laughed he landed one of them. He pointed his gun at the demons head and shot it. He jumped onto the next demon and shot that one as well. The process repeated until he was very high in the air and the demons couldn't reach him anymore. Dante flipped his own body head first.

He pointed his guns at the demons below as he spun his own body. Dante began to shoot again but this time the bullets were scattering all over the area. Many of the demons were killed by this tactic. Dante land moved his whole body again and landed on his feet. This time three demons lunged toward at the devil hunter. Dante smiled as he decided it was about time. He unzipped his guitar case and in an instant the three demons where cut apart vertically. The church group and Touma saw that he was holding a large sword with skull and ribcage as the base for it. The remaining demons charged at him. With a few swings of his sword, Dante made instant work with them. He then raised his sword before making it come down on another group but this time he moved the whole sword around his body. With one final slash, he finished off a couple of more demons. As expected, more came for him. Dante sighed. "Persistent bastards aren't ya?" He ran at one of while he placed his sword beside his legs. He came in close to one of the demons and raised his sword from underneath to strike the demon before him. Not only that lifted the demon, but Dante as well but not before he slammed the demon back down to the ground with Dante's sword firmly in its head.

The other closed into him but the devil hunter brought his sword to him and charged toward them. He did a flurry of attack starting with the combo he did before and then he stabbed the demons before him multiple times at an incredible speed. His final move was embedding his sword into the ground and he swung around while dealing damage to any demons near him. Dante took his sword out of the ground and measured the damage. Not much was left. He brought his sword close to him and then threw it. The sword was circling around as it homed in the remaining demons. The flying sword slashed through the last of the demons, spilling their blood onto the ground before it returned to its owner. Dante caught his sword by the handle. Just as he thought he was done, one last demon tried to attack from behind but failed as Dante turned around to cut it in half.

All that was left from this was countless corpses of the demons lying dead on the ground. The stench of blood was strong in the air. The corpses began to dissolve in their own blood and soon they were gone completely. Dante settled his sword on his back as he laughed. "Now that's what I call a welcoming party." The other group couldn't believe what they saw. A lone man taking on countless demon alone and still came out on top. He turned to group. "So you're the people I'm supposed to meet right?" They are all now weary how powerful this man is now.

Tsuchimikado walked up to him. "That's right and I'm guessing you're Devil May Cry-san?"

Dante sighed. "Of course you're a kid." He looked past him and saw two familiar faces. "Hey I know you two."

This time Touma and Index walked up. "We've seen you too. Back at the hospital.

"You know this guy Kami-yan?" The blonde asked.

"Not really. We only saw each other at the hospital." Touma explained. "However I do want to ask you something." He brought up the card. "Were you the one that gave Misaka this card and if so, why did you bring her and Shirai into this whole demon nonsense?"

Dante laughed. "Sorry kid but that's a long complicated story and I don't got the time to explain it. Now then back to business, why is it that you all wanted to meet me all the way out here. I doubt it's for the scenery."

Stiyl walked up to the devil hunter. "We're just going to ask a few questions. One of them being how are you tied to what's going on in the city."

Before Dante could say anything, his whole body was lifted off the ground and landed hard. Everyone looked around to see where the shot came from. One though came across their minds. "Sniper." They all heard the sound of metal being punched in multiple times around them.

"Everyone get to cover!" Touma shouted. Before everyone could move, they all heard heavy creaking. They all looked up to see the crane from up above breaking off and started fall on them. Thanks to Kanzaki's quick thinking, she cut through the falling crane. The two pieces fell at the different locations. It was too soon for a breath of relief.

"Something tells me that wasn't an accident." Stiyl spoke. He looked at the body of the devil. Now any chance of them knowing what was going on went down the drain.

"You got that right red!" They all turned to see three people on top of one of the containers. "Have to say that devil hunter did a number on the demons we sent but it looks like one bullet to the head was enough and he was the guy that was giving us trouble."

"I assume you're part of whatever is happening in the city." Stiyl called out.

Hayate smiled. "You can say something like that red. We're ordered to get rid of anyone who we think is a threat. We took care of one, now it's time for the rest." A gunshot rang out. Hayate felt a bullet go past his head.

Everyone turned to where that shot came from. To everyone's surprise, Dante was standing up. "Didn't your mother ever tell you it's rude to shoot people in the head?"

"How are you still alive?!" Index asked.

"Not the first time I've shot at kid. Now then…" He looked at the three. "I'm guessing you three are part of that group I've heard."

Seeing the devil hunter up after he's been shot told them that he wasn't going to be easy to beat. Not only that, he was with the people from the church as well. "Well then…" Hayate stretched his arms. "I guess this isn't going to be as easy as we thought. Let's get to work."
