Chapter 52

IN ARIA'S ROOM

"What do you mean WHAT?" Mara asked innocently, her eyes blinking rapidly a few times.

"WHY are we sitting with them?" Cassie pointed an accusing finger at Aro, Caius and Marcus.

"Don't say anything stupid, Caius." Aro warned softly, so only Marcus and Caius could hear them. "The last thing I need—you need—we need is to be kicked out their lives." He could see Caius visibly clamp his mouth shut, but his eyes spoke all the words. He wanted to retort back at them. At her. Truly, Aro had once admired Caius for his boldness, but now, he resented it. Caius, as it seemed, could not control the boldness.

"Because." Mara said simply. "If we are to be friends—" or more. She added in her mind, "Then we must get along."

Cassie let out a growl. "Can I speak to you—and Ari—outside for a moment? Like downstairs?" without further comment, she grabbed both Aria and Mara by the arm and proceeded to pull them out the door and downstairs. She paused momentarily, "And none of you better get any ideas about listening in. I'll know and when I know, there will be hell to pay." Cassie dragged them downstairs, ignoring the many sets of eyes staring at them, as she grumbled to herself. Plopping down onto a downstairs couch, she crossed her arms and legs. "One second." She held up her hand, 'Luci. Are you there?' she asked.

'I am.' Luci replied as the lion materialized inside her head. 'What do you need? Do you want to hear about my chat with Isis? Utmost painful, I might add.'

'I'd ask you about how your talk with Isis went, but I need some sort of barrier of sorts. I don't want anyone listening in.' Cassie explained, 'Can you erect one? I don't want a single soul hearing it.'

Luci snorted, 'Single soul? So if vampires have no souls, can they listen in?' he joked before he burst into laughter.

Cassie narrowed her eyes, 'Be serious.' She snapped, 'I really don't want them listening.'

Luci immediately stopped laughing, 'Okay.' He nodded. 'Barrier's up.'

'Are you sure? No one can listen in?' Cassie confirmed once again.

'It's up. I'm sure. If anyone tries to break in or listen in, all they'll hear is distorted chanting. Demonic chanting.' He shrugged.

'Why the fuck would we do demonic chants? In Latin? On top of it all, with Mara and Ari?' Cassie raised an eyebrow.

Luci shrugged, 'I dunno. You told me to erect a barrier. If they tried to listen in, that would be what they would hear.'

'You couldn't put some girly shit like make up or something like that?' Cassie asked exasperatedly.

Luci raised an eyebrow, 'Do I look like the type to know about girly shit as you so nicely put it?' he asked.

'Yes.' She replied immediately without a further thought.

'Well… no. I don't.' Luci rolled his eyes, 'Asking the wrong person here.'

'Great, great. Okay, I got to talk to the girls now. Thanks for the barrier.' Cassie nodded mentally. 'And next time, I'll definitely listen to you and your Isis interaction.'

'Great. Okay. Next time.' Luci said as Cassie withdrew her connection from Luci.

"Speak." She spat out.

"About what?" Mara asked, taking a seat as she adjusted her glasses.

"I'm guessing Cassie's talking about the seating arrangements." Ari replied, blushing red. She would sit with Aro. Did Mara know of her intentions? Was that it? Was that why she made the decision that she had announced?

Mara leaned back in her seat, "I won't lie." She paused, lowering her voice, "I've thought about it… really, I have and I'm going to tell you guys now, I'm going to try again."

"Try again for what?" Cassie growled.

"With Marcus." Mara replied, "I… I know it's too soon, like he's only been back just now, but I can't help it. My heart is telling me that I should give him a chance."

"They haven't even been here for a week. Give it a rest. Don't accept them back into our lives so easily! It makes us look weak!" Cassie snapped, eyes narrowing.

"But from the way they've… they've just talked to us and interacted with us, doesn't it make it seem like we should be together?" Mara protested.

"I don't know about you, but I threw a pie in Caius's face today." Cassie pointed out hotly.

"And he apologized for it." Ari said softly, staring at Mara and not at Cassie.

Cassie groaned, "Don't tell me you agree with Mara too." She muttered, her right hand slapped across her eyes in frustration.

"I feel a pull too, Cassie." Ari replied, "I just can't seem to stay mad at Aro. And he….he really seems like he genuinely interested in dating me for me and not for some power that you have or that I have."

"But it's too soon to accept them back." Cassie protested. "Are you two accepting them again?"

Mara and Ari peeked at each other, sitting there silently while they shifted uncomfortably. "Yes." Ari said as Mara nodded.

"And Mara?" Cassie asked. "And for Pete's sake—tell the bloody stupid fucking truth. And don't just nod. Answer me. Talk."

"Yes." Mara said hesitantly before she straightened up and answered again, in a more confident tone, "Yes."

Cassie sighed and closed her eyes, her arms resting in her lap. "Then all I have to ask of you two is… why?" she asked quietly, her voice sounding lost and broken. "Why them? What about Nicholas? Tate? Loki? Why not them? Why does it have to be the Volturi men."

Ari gave Cassie a wistful smile, "I don't know." She confessed. "There's just something in my heart—" she placed her hand over her heart, "That makes me want him. Maybe it's hormones. Maybe it's lust. All I know is, I want him. I missed him when he wasn't around. I kind of realized it, you know, even though I said I didn't want him in that sense anymore, I lied. I want him around."

"Same here. I actually look very much forward to seeing the bookstore tomorrow with Marcus as bookworm nerdy that sounds or as you classify it." Mara piped up. "He's gentle, you know? Kind and gentle. People make mistakes and I don't think vampires are an exception, I mean they were originally human turned vampire, right? Humans can make mistakes and so can vampires. I feel that Marcus is genuine. Cassie—I'm not telling you what to do, but—" Mara paused hesitantly, "But just think for a moment… don't you want to get back together with Caius? I know you guys argued constantly and well… you're at each other's throats most of the time, but I can't help but think that even though you are at his throat and he yours, you enjoyed it. Not many people have stood up to you or presented such a challenge to you, right? Because you're a Mafia princess, people often fear you, but Caius didn't fear you and in fact, he treated you no better then what he deemed was a dirty, disgusting mortal."

'Yeah! Yeah! I agree!' Luci piped up from inside her head. 'You still like him.'

Cassie growled, 'Aren't you suppose to be gone? Off torturing souls or doing some shit like that?' she asked in annoyance.

Luci blinked, putting on an innocent look. 'Whatever do you mean?' he cocked his head. 'I simply am your demon and I'm simply advising you. Even though my job is to take care of the souls and stuff, I can always push my work off to my minions. A demon's priority, in a contract, is to satisfy those terms in order to get what he or she wants. Most of the time, a soul.'

'Great. So are you trying to pair me up, so you get a fucking soul?' Cassie frowned. 'I thought better of you.'

'Aw! Heck no! I'd never take your soul!' he giggled childishly. 'You see, Isis threatened that if anyone ever attempted to take a direct descendant's soul of hers that she'd murder us through many, many different methods.' Luci had a scary, creepy smile on his face. 'And let me tell you, when she spent three days and three nights just describing the first 10 of her list of thousands after one of our lesser demons accidentally took a soul of a direct descendant of Isis's, we were pretty much in agreement. You cannot be harmed. You are a direct descendant of Isis.'

'Remind me to thank, Isis? Seriously, it seems that she has you all by the horns.' Cassie stifled a laugh as an image of what a demon looked like passed through her. Kind of like Grover from Percy Jackson. Except much, much bigger horns. Furrier body too.

Luci growled, 'We do not look like that.' he muttered, obviously insulted. 'We look much better than that! In fact, some of us—for example, me—look like a human. It's the lesser demons. And sometimes we look that way to scare humans, but we have a beautiful form you know. A handsome and beautiful one.'

'Right. Uh huh.' Cassie nodded sarcastically, 'Now if you don't mind, I want to get back to my conversation with Ari and Mara.'

'By all means,' Luci gestured with his lion paws. 'All I have to ask is that why not give the Caius boy a chance?'

Cassie sneered, 'You want me to give Caius a chance?' she said sarcastically, 'You must be really insane. Like officially insane. Are you going to retire from your throne soon?'

Luci looked hurt and upset. 'Don't mock me when it comes to my throne.' He said coldly as the temper dropped several degrees inside her head. Cassie knew it wasn't real, but still, it was cold.

'Hey! Raise the temperature back up!' Cassie yelled, "It's so goddamn cold in here!'

Luci raised the temperature back up, 'All I am saying is that… do not worry about my throne. No demon, human, monster or anyone will get my throne without my will.' He said in a more calm, controlled voice—a voice much different from the usually Luci.

'Geez. Okay. I got it. Sorry.' Cassie rolled her eyes, 'But seriously, stay out of my way. I don't want Caius that way.'

'I know you had a wet dream about Caius the other night.' Luci said pointedly as he pretended to examine his nails on his left paw.

Cassie blushed, 'Don't tell me you had something to do with it.' She muttered, giving him a very dirty look.

'Of course not!' Luci objected, 'I have much more pride than that. And besides, I'd really hate for you to punch me or torture me—though certainly it may feel interesting to be tortured by a human woman— but besides that! I would not betray you. Or your brain. Even though deep in your heart you know the truth.'

'And what is this truth?' Cassie raised an eyebrow, 'You know, I would think that I know myself better than you. You're here every now and then, aren't you?'

'How rude.' Luci muttered, 'I've been with you since you were born. From the moment you were inside your mother's uterus. From the moment you were conceived from your father and mother's union on the night of—'

'OH MY GOD!' Cassie screamed, 'I don't need to know that about my dad and mom and I especially don't want to know what you know about that union on whatever night!'

Luci smiled slightly, 'But my point is, I have been with you since you were young, I know you. I have watched you grow up. I have watched your antics. And I know you. Even if I didn't know you, I am Lucifer. I am a demon of Hell. Well, not just any demon, but regardless, I am a Fallen Angel. A demon, in your definition, and I know of human desires and sins. You are of no exception, Cassie. I can see what you truly desire. This is what allows me—and other demons—to form contracts with humans. They desire something and want something—in this case, you desire Caius. You lust for him.'

'So I want a one-night stand with him.' Cassie muttered. 'Great. Can't you just transform into Caius and fuck me and have it over with?'

Luci looked disgusted. 'I could.' He replied slowly. 'Transform into Caius and take your virginity—certainly, that would be no problem for me. Virgins are the best after all, but I fear that you would regret it. And a few virgins that I have taken in the past, have gotten rather….clingy.'

'I won't be a clingy bitch, you know that.' Cassie rolled her eyes.

'A few have told me that as well. However, after we have laid together, a few feel that they have been elevated to a special status within my heart or whatever it is they think.' He replied. 'But Cassie, I will and am your demon. To have such a relationship would be…awkward later on. Especially if we do not intend to pursue a serious relationship.'

'Natalia and her demon are going along just fine.' Cassie argued.

'But they love each other. They want each other.' Luci said gently.

'So you saying I'm not attractive enough? Is that it?' Cassie frowned.

'You are a very attractive young lady.' Luci replied quickly, 'All I am saying is, do not do something you will regret. Sleeping with me will not help. You will feel disgusted with yourself afterwards for doing something so lowly. I have lived for a long time, trust me, as your demon, I will not lie to you.'

'So you want me to get back with Caius?' Cassie sighed, 'But it's so…so…'

'Hard, right?' Luci smiled, 'You cannot forgive him for what he has done, but you cannot forget him either.'

'Yeah.' Cassie closed her eyes, 'Sometimes, I wish I could just go to Hell and hang out with you guys and with Ari and Mara, you know? Away from this mess—away from what they call love and attraction.'

'You're young. 16 years old. You've got a future and a life ahead of you.' Luci replied, 'Denying yourself of anything would be terrible.'

'I just don't think love was necessary. Or attraction. I liked it better before we met the Volturi. We were travelling everywhere without a care of the world. We joked around, played, and did everything we wished. But we've gotten entangled with them to the point of which we don't know who we are anymore. And Ari and Mara want to give those guys a fucking chance.'

'Love changes people.' Luci replied, 'As it changed Isis as well.'

'You know, I've always wondered this, but….do you only contract with girls?' Cassie asked.

'What?'

'Well nothing. I mean the first two contracts you had with humans—before me—were both with human girls. Young human girls, so I was wondering if you liked contracting with girls more.' She shrugged.

'I have contracted with men before, you know.' He sighed, 'It's just out of this family, after Isis, I generally prefer the girls better. The boys in this family tend to get a bit too rowdy for my liking. Every now and then I do see a male that I would potentially like to contract, but usually all the good boys have demons lined up already. There will be a boy born later that I have a few interests in, but it probably is very unlikely since I am contracted to you.'

'You can't contract more than one person?' she asked in surprise.

'More than one person in this family.' He corrected, 'I thought you read the handbook. I can have contracts with people outside of the family as long as they are short-term contracts that would not affect the main contract.'

'Well…meh. Skimmed it.' Cassie replied.

'If it was any other demon, he or she may have taken advantage of you.' Luci warned.

Cassie winked, 'And that's why I got you.' She blew a kiss at him as he swatted it away.

'Back to the topic at hand, Cassidy.' He began, a rare incident as he rarely used her real name. 'Give this Caius boy a chance. I am not asking you to fully accept him again. All I am saying is that, I have observed you since infanthood. Before you regret it in the future or anything, just give it a chance.'

'Fine.' She grumbled.

He nodded, 'Good.' He smiled, 'Now get back to Aria and Mara. They're giving you looks again.'

'Peace, then, Luci.'

Luci laughed, 'I will see you later, Cassie.' He nodded as their connection broke.

"Okay, what's up?" Cassie asked.

"Are you done with your talk with Lucifer?" Ari asked, while Cassie had been away talking with Lucifer, she had been talking with Mara. They had attempted to see it from Cassie's point of view in the timeline. Granted, it had been too fast. They had accepted the Volturi back too fast and soon. There had to be a time… right? Although, they had thought that true love had no expiration date. Sort of. Unless it came to death.

"Yeah." Cassie paused, "I'll give it a try too." She ducked her head down, blushing as Mara and Ari stared.

"That's great!" Ari smiled as she launched towards Cassie, giving her a hug. "Knew you would agree."

"Hold your horses, Ari." Mara said, "I feel a but coming up."

Cassie grinned, "Of course there is a but." She replied, "My but is that we all must agree to wait at least one week before we pursue any relationship. Friendship and stuff is okay, but do not go beyond that. I'm worried that we're jumping guns. We're bloody 16 years old. Take some time to think."

"So… wait a week?" Ari said, "Sounds reasonable."

"It is. I could have made it a year, but I changed it to a week."

Ari giggled, "That's cruel, Cassie."

Cassie raised an eyebrow, "Did I ever say I wasn't cruel?" she asking jokingly.

"No. Good point though." As Mara came over and they gave each other a big group hug.

Meanwhile… upstairs….

"Hey. Volturi. Switch with me." Nicholas said.

"You want to sit with Alec?" Jane asked.

"Or do you want to sit with Jane?" Alec asked.

"Nah! I think he's talking about me! He wants to sit with Demetri!" Felix replied.

"No… I'm pretty sure he wants to sit with you, Felix."

"What! No!" Felix gasped in order as he widened his eyes at Nicholas. "Nicky! I didn't know you swung that way!"

"I will swing that way in a moment if you don't shut your mouth." Nicholas growled, "I meant with Aro. I'll switch with Aro."

"Hold up. I'll switch with Aro."

"I'll switch with Marcus." Loki volunteered happily as he chewed on a piece of jerky he had saved from earlier in the day.

"I'll switch with Caius." Luna offered.

"I can switch too with Caius." Brecken replied as Yale nodded.

"Or I can." Yale said.

"I never agreed." Aro frowned as the Astral Coven's eyes swiveled to look at him.

"What?" Nicholas said.

"I never agreed." Aro said a bit more confidently.

"Nor did I." Caius glared as he crossed his arms and widened his stances. Damn as hell would he give up his spot. They would have to kill him—literally—for his spot. It was a once in a life time fucking chance.

"Or me." Marcus said confidently, looking directly at Loki.

The pressure in the room tensed up, tight enough to be cut by a butter knife as silence coveted the room and everyone stared at each other. "What do you mean you never agreed?" Nicholas said, attempting to put a smile on his face.

"I'm sitting next to Aria. Caius is sitting next to Cassidy and Marcus is sitting next to Mara." Aro summarized. "We will not switch with you."

"They're not yours." Nicholas glared.

"Nor yours." Aro said, returning an equally cold glare.

"What's not yours?" Ari asked as they came into the room.

"Aria!" Tate greeted.

"Cassidy!" Luna smiled, nodding.

"Mara!" Loki said as he came over to give Mara a bone-crushing hug.

"What's not yours?" Ari asked again, raising an eyebrow. She kind of knew what they were talking about. Even if she didn't have supersensitive hearing, it wasn't that hard to tell. Probably arguing over the seating arrangements.

"Nothing. We just had a few issues we disagreed with." Aro replied, a smile plastered on his face. He could feel Aria's intense eyes wash over him as she eyed him skeptically.

"Uh-huh. Right." She nodded as she proceeded to jump onto one of the beds—presumably, hers—as Cassie and Mara did the same. The other occupants in the room stared at them as if they had grown several heads. Ari looked up, "Well? What are you waiting for? We should start the movie. Aro. Come on. We're wasting time."

Numbly and like a robot, Aro moved towards Aria, his brain calculating things a million miles a second. He was sitting with Aria. And it was voluntarily. She hadn't asked for a switch like he thought she would of. He sat down next to her, he could feel her warmth seep through him like a blazing fire. The sheets felt incredibly soft too—much softer than before. Had they changed the sheets? No…. it didn't look like it. And it smelled great too. Like Aria. Of blossoms. It was… he had smelled it from a store once. A bed and bath something. Vaguely, he remembered the title was Japanese Cherry Blossoms. "Hi." He croaked out.

"Uh… hi…Aro." She said slowly too, raising an eyebrow at his tone. "Ready for the movie?"

"Do you know what it is?" he asked immediately back in response. He was scared. Nervous. Why had Aria asked to sit beside him? Could it be that she was going to reject him once and for all? Was this the last time he would get to be so intimately close to her? Was she going to tell him that he was just a friend and nothing more? That he would have no chance? God, no. Please, no. Whatever god out there, please…. just please. he begged mentally inside of himself.

She frowned, "Aro… are you okay?" she asked, "If you feel uncomfortable sitting next to me, by all means, we can switch spots with others."

"No…no." he swallowed. "I'm good. This spot is just fine."

"Great." She leaned back, sighing at the comfort of the soft pillows. She moaned, "This is to die for."

"W-What?" he stuttered, staring at her.

"The pillows, Aro. The. Pillows." She replied, sitting up as she pushed him—or at least attempted to push him backwards. He gave in, as he fell backwards, his back and head hitting the soft plush pillows. Hmm. Indeed, it did feel nice.

"It feels…soft." He replied.

She grinned, "I know, right?" she resumed her position next to him, laying down too, as she stared at the t.v. "You know, I hope it's not a horror movie."

"A what?"

"A horror movie. I don't do well with horrors." She shrugged. "Especially with ghosts. I get so scared. Long story about them, but bottom line is ghosts and I do not mix. Ever."

Aro vaguely remembered what Emmett had carried in, a huge stack of flat boxes with pictures on them. Jane had told him they were called DVDs and they had had many titles listed on each of them—The Exorcist. Insidious. Paranormal Activity. Saw. The Ring. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The Cabin in the Woods. The Evil Dead. Poltergeist. Sinister. Wrong Turn. The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Those were just a few of them that he saw. Were those horror movies? "Oh." He said simply. "I feel that I should warn you about Emmett's choices—"

"All righty! Here we go! I'm first since Ari said so!" Emmett's loud voice boomed in the room. "And my first choice is this!" He held up a DVD, a huge smile on his face.

"Oh my god…no." Ari's voice was muffled as she covered her face with her hands. "Emmett! Not a horror movie!"

"Too bad! I picked first!" he grinned evilly as he inserted the DVD into the DVD player slowly and carefully. He practically pranced over to the light switches and turned those off too, blanketing them in a cover of darkness. Instinctively, Ari curled closer to Aro as he looked down in confusion. Even in the dark, he could make out and see her face perfectly fine. She had a look of absolute horror.

He coughed gently, "Perhaps we should change the film." He began.

"No." Emmett said immediately, interrupting him.

Aro raised an eyebrow, "Not even if I said so?"

"Aro. Right now you aren't the Aro Volturi our king. You're Aro who is visiting Aria and her family and friends. So suck it up." Emmett said, not even sparing him a glance.

"It's okay." Ari whispered. "I'll just shut my eyes at the scary parts."

"Are you sure?" Aro asked, concerned. Not that he didn't enjoy the close proximity of Aria, but it was for all the wrong reasons—she was scared out of her mind for a movie that hadn't even started yet.

"Uh huh." She nodded. "Now let's watch this." She turned her eyes towards the screen, but Aro could see that she was desperately trying to blank out…somehow.

15 minutes into the film

Ari clung tighter and tighter to Aro, something she didn't even know she had done. By this point, she had basically wrapped both of her arms around his right arm and was pushing her face against his arm, using it as a shield. Her eyes were shut tightly as she muttered, "It's just a movie. It's just a movie. It's just a movie. It's just a movie."

Aro could hear the other girls muttering similar lines too. Mara was trying to distract herself with make-believe stories or romance stories as Marcus attempted to supply useful romantic situations. Cassidy, on the other hand, was cursing and muttering as Caius tried to gently tell her to be quiet and that the more she panicked, the more scared she would be. And to response to Caius, Cassidy would simply reply that she wasn't scared of some stupid movie. "It's okay, Aria." Aro whispered softly, although he knew the other occupants in the room could hear him. "It's a movie just like you said. Would it help if we removed ourselves from the room, sat outside and chatted instead? There are many things we could talk about. Would that be better?"

She shook her head, "No. I…I'll watch the movie." With this, she lifted her head from his arm, robotically turned her head towards the television and stared. And sadly, Aria had looked at the wrong time as it was when the human in the film woke up to find something looming over her. It looked hideous as it whispered, "You're next". The human girl screamed as Aria screamed too, out of fear. As a result, both Cassie and Mara screamed, their screams deafening the occupants in the room as the movie was paused, lights were turned on and all eyes turned towards the girls.

"Are you okay?" Carlisle asked. "If it helps, perhaps, we should take a break."

"We're fine!" Cassie snapped, "We just screamed because the girl in the movie screamed. That's all." Aro could see—and most likely anyone else in the room with sharp eyesight—that she was shaking. Caius looked utterly amused and terrified. Amused that Cassidy would scream, but terrified that it had scared her enough to make her scream. Cassidy. The toughest of the three of them. Perhaps they really did share more similar qualities than he thought—besides being young, supernatural, related by some ancestor, and having a love for supernatural creatures. He whispered to Cassidy, "We can switch movies." Cassidy had simply responded with a simple jab and a shake of the head, indicating no.

Carlisle gave her a skeptical look, but then smiled, "If you are sure then." He nodded. "Emmett, let's resume the movie." He sat back down beside Esme, wrapping an arm around Esme's waist, kissing her cheek gently.

"Let's finish this." Ari let out a shaky break as she turned to look at Aro. "Can I ask for a favor?"

"Anything." He replied.

"You shouldn't agree until you know the terms," she frowned.

"If it is anything you want and request, I see no reason as to why I should deny you it." He replied honestly.

"And if I ask you to jump?" she asked.

"Then I would ask you how high do you want me to jump." He replied immediately.

"If I asked you to kill someone?"

"Who, how, when and where?" he responded.

"No questions about why?" she asked.

"Why should I ask? If you want that person dead, you want that person dead." He shrugged.

"What if I am a cruel, twisted character? What if I have turned evil? What if I killed people just because I wanted to?" she asked.

"You are too kind to become cruel and twisted. Even if you do, deep in your heart, you will still be the kind and funny Aria that I knew and that everyone knew." He replied.

"That's ridiculous." She frowned, "Why would you obey someone like that? What if I asked you to die? Would you do it?"

"I suppose." He replied. "I must have done something very bad to have angered you like that."

"Well, I won't ever ask you of that. I promised." She replied stubbornly. "All that I ask is…can I borrow your arm?"

"My….arm?" he asked, glancing down at it. Certainly, he could pull it off, but reattaching it later might be painful—if he got his arm back.

Seeing his glance, she quickly continued, "I didn't mean that I wanted you to rip off your arm or anything, all it is, is that I want to…hug your arm whenever I…got…sc…are…d?" she finished quietly.

"Sc…are…d?" he asked.

"Scared." She leaned up and whispered into his ear.

Oh. Oh. He nod, offering his arm. "Go right ahead." He told her as she latched onto his arm.

"Thanks." She muttered.

"It is of no problem." Aro replied. Huh. So she hadn't wanted his arm in a sense of…pulling it off but rather in the sense of hugging it for comfort. Not that he minded or complained. It was nice to feel her against him. It felt right, like she was a part of him. The last missing piece to the jigsaw puzzle that he had been fretting over for a long, long time now. He sighed contently as he watched her. She was beautiful even though she was scared. Everything about her was soft and screamed feminine—even though she often acted and argued that she wasn't that feminine or girly as she put it. Well, it didn't matter. She could be a barbaric, greedy, cannibalistic human for all he cared for—both ways, she was his and he'd be damned if he allowed her to leave again.

Leave a review! If you feel my original characters are too mary-sue, then I apologize (they must have morphed at some point in the story for you to be seeing it this late in the story).
