Ch. 53: Laughs and Talks Before the Dance

Three hours later, after Feliks and Maddie were done adding the final additions to the dress, they were hanging out in the living room watching Impractical Jokers. There was a quick knock on the door.

"I got it!" Maddie called to her father who was somewhere in the house. "I'll be back. It's probably Alfred."

"Take your time, girl!" Feliks answered laughing. Maddie nodded once before standing up and walking to the front door. She opened it and smiled at seeing her taller boy friend with his hands in his pockets.

"Hey!" he greeted smiling.

"Hi. Please come in," she said gesturing him inside.

"Alrighty." He walked in and hugged Maddie after she closed the door again. With an arm around her, they walked back inside the living room.

"Oh hey Feliks. Whachu doing here?" he asked raising a suspicious eyebrow.

"Oh, nothing really," Maddie said. "Just-"

"Hanging out! Nothing more!" Feliks interrupted, not wanting Alfred to know about the dress designing. Maddie gave him a quizzical look but brushed it off.

"Yeah. We're just hanging out." She smiled and Alfred nodded unsure. "Anyway, let's watch TV. Papa said 15 minutes ago dinner'll be done in an hour."

"Okay," he said. "Let's hang out like BFFLs~!" He plopped onto the couch next to Feliks. Maddie sat next to Alfred and the three watch the television in silence save for the laughter emitting from them.

Forty-five minutes later found Francis, Feliks, Maddie, and Alfred seated at the dinner table talking about some funny high school memories.

"And then, Feliks, remember that one time in Mrs. Teacher's class when that one guy Alex-" Alfred said, eyes lit up.

"Oh yeah! That was hilarious!" Feliks said laughing with Alfred. "Okay so this one guy, Alex, he moved away though. Anyway he had a water bottle on his desk once and Mrs. Teacher was walking by and dumped it all over him and herself! It was hilarious!"

Maddie and Francis chuckled. "That's funny," she said.

"You had to've been there!" Feliks said.

"What about you Mad? Did you have any funny moments at your old school?" Alfred asked.

"Um... Once my teacher had 'wet' himself."

"What?"

"No way."

"Yeah. He was drinking coffee once and decided he wanted it wear it on his pants. He always seemed to get stuff on him. Like once he got chalk on him."

"That's epic!"

"Awesome, fo' sho'! Anything else?"

"It's hard to think of things on the spot."

"Yeah. We are kinda doing that..." Feliks replied.

"Um... Once, in sixth grade, there was a girl named Elizabeta. Mind you, she was a shorter gal at the time. Now she's like a grown adult. And there, the teachers had recycle bins outside their door for the janitors. Well one day, she decided to jump over one. Yeah, no. Her foot had tapped the edge while she was landing and she fell face first into the floor. I helped her out but it was still funny."

Alfred and Feliks both chuckled at imagining it.

"That's cool. I bet you have a lot of stories about your old school," Feliks said.

"Not really. It was Pasta Middle School, just outside of Hetalia. Not much happened besides..." She trailed off.

"What were these people on when they came up with the names of these schools?" Alfred said before laughing. "But it's'all okay now! You're safe here and won't be leaving anytime soon!"

Oh how she wished he was right.

"Yeah... Anyway, cheri, what is the plan for tomorrow?" Francis asked.

"I'm not sure," she answered looking at Alfred. "We haven't talked much about it..."

"Maybe I could pick ya up before the dance starts," Al suggested. "And I could also bring you home, if that's okay."

"Oui, that should be fine," Papa answered nodding. "Just treat my Madeline well, Mr. Jones. Those guns still have yet to meet you."

He gulped. "Y-yes sir," he stuttered.

"Glad to know you know that," he said.

"Anyway, how's your parents Alfred?" Feliks asked. "You told me a little of what things have happened."

"Oh... Well, mom is... Still out of the house but she did call earlier. Like before I came. That's why I was late. She just wanted to say sorry about what happened and for me having to go through that. She also said she would see me more often 'cuz she really missed me when she was gone.

"Dad hasn't been mean or anything like he was the first day. His alcohol consumption has gone down greatly than it had been, so yay for that. But I can tell he's taking it hard. Other than that, it's been pretty well," he closed smiling.

"That's good," Maddie said a smile appearing. Now she wouldn't have to leave him with his life like it was. She was glad for that.

Feliks stretched his hands over his head. "Ohh. Well, I better get going. I have a busy day tomorrow. I'll see you, Alfred, after school. And I'll see Maddie before the dance. Bye guys!"

"Bye!" the other three said in unison. Feliks walked out leaving the blondes at the table.

"Well, I might as well leave you two be also," Francis said. "I'll be in my room if you need me."

"Okay."

"Bye Papa!"

Once he was sure Francis was gone, Alfred turned serious. "Mathias called earlier, also," he said. "He called my cell phone on my way home. I didn't know who it was but I answered it and it was him."

"What did he say?" she asked quietly.

"He asked if we could hang out next week, that we got off on the wrong foot."

"And you said?"

"I didn't answer. I wanted to ask you. Do you feel comfortable with me hanging around him?"

"If you want to, go ahead."

"Are you sure, Mad? I don't want to be around someone you don't like. I know you and him are in hot waters now so..."

"Do what you think is right, Al," she answered.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"Alright. As long as you're okay with it."

"I said I was." That and it wouldn't matter because I'm leaving Saturday.

"Okay. I'll report back to you if anything happens."

"This kinda reminds me of being a detective. Or secret agent. 'I'll report back to mission control if he does anything suspicious'. Sounds like it could be in a mystery movie."

Alfred looked around. "If that's the case then... Oh crap! The floor is a false floor! It'll turn into lava in three... Two... One!" Maddie and Alfred jumped and sat on the counter side by side laughing. "I better tell this to Houston!" He looked at the nonexistent watch on his wrist. "Houston. We have a problem!"

Maddie laughed. "The floor is lava and we have no way out!"

"They said that we have to use our secret gadgets to escape!"

"Hurry before the place self destructs!"

"Ahh, yes! 'Cuz every evil lair self destructs!"

And so, that evening was spent with two secret ninjas escaping the booby trapped house, and saving the helpless damsel in distress (Francis) until it got late enough that Alfred had to go home.

Hey! Like the light humor? I know I do! Anywho, fun facts! When I went to public school, those events that were mentioned actually happened to my friend and teacher. My teacher always seemed to drop things onto his clothes. Once it was coffee, another time it was water, and some other time, it was chalk. You name it, he probably dropped it on himself. And then, my friend jumping over the recycling bin actually happened, too. We were heading to sixth period (or block, whichever you go by) and he decided he was a ninja and tried to jump over it. He kicked it on the way to the ground and both he and the bin fell over. But that doesn't compare to the times I fell UP the stairs while talking with my friends on our way to class. But, I'll tell you that later if you'd like. Anywho, enough fun facts for now! And I realized the last I updated (Jan 17) was our six month anniversary! So, thanks for staying with us for so long! We hoped you liked the chapter and until next time, peace! ~Love-Peace-Anime
